  • Association rule mining searches for interesting relationships among items in a given database. Association rules are frequently used by retail stores to assist in marketing, advertising, floor placement, and inventory control. There are three primary quality measures for association rule, support and confidence and lift. Association rule is an interesting rule among purchased items in transaction, but the negative association rule is an interesting rule that includes items which are not purchased. Boolean Analyzer is the method to produce the negative association rule using PIM. But, PIM is subjective. In this paper, we present statistical objective criterion in negative association rules using Boolean Analyzer.

  • If is interested and create rule between it in item that association rules buys, by negative association rules is interested to item that do not buy, it is attempt to do data Maining more effectively. It is difficult that existent methods to find negative association rules find one part of rule, or negative association rules because use more complicated algorithm than algorithm that find association rules. Therefore, this paper presents method to create negative association rules by simpler process using Boolean Analyzer that use dependency between items. And as Boolean Analyzer through an experiment, show that can find negative association rules and more various rule through comparison with other algorithm.

  • The most widely used data mining technique is to explore association rules. This technique has been used to find the relationship between items in a massive database based on the interestingness measures such as support, confidence, lift, etc. Association rules are frequently used by retail stores to assist in marketing, advertising, floor placement, and inventory control. In general, association rule technique generates the rule, 'If A, then B.', whereas negative association rule technique generates the rule, 'If A, then not B.', or 'If not A, then B.'. We can determine whether we promote other products in addition to promote its products only if we add negative association rules to existing association rules. In this paper, we proposed the negatively attributable and pure confidence to overcome the problems faced by negative association rule technique, and then we checked three conditions for interestingness measure. The comparative studies with negative confidence, negatively pure confidence, and negatively attributable and pure confidence are shown by numerical examples. The results show that the negatively attributable and pure confidence is better than negative confidence and negatively pure confidence.

  • Association rule represents the relationship between items in a massive database by quantifying their relationship, and is used most frequently in data mining techniques. In general, association rule technique generates the rule, 'If A, then B.', whereas negative association rule technique generates the rule, 'If A, then not B.', or 'If not A, then B.'. We can determine whether we promote other products in addition to promote its products only if we add negative association rules to existing association rules. In this paper, we proposed the negatively pure association rules by negatively pure support, negatively pure confidence, and negatively pure lift to overcome the problems faced by negative association rule technique. In checking the usefulness of this technique through numerical examples, we could find the direction of association by the sign of the negatively pure association rule measure.

  • Applying various association rule mining algorithms to the network intrusion detection task involves two critical issues: too large size of generated rule set which is hard to be utilized for IoT systems and hardness of control of false negative/positive rates. In this research, we propose an association rule mining algorithm based on the newly defined measures called coverage and exclusion. Coverage shows how frequently a pattern is discovered among the transactions of a class and exclusion does how frequently a pattern is not discovered in the transactions of the other classes. We compare our algorithm experimentally with the Apriori algorithm which is the most famous algorithm using the public dataset called KDDcup99. Compared to Apriori, the proposed algorithm reduces the resulting rule set size by up to 93.2 percent while keeping accuracy completely. The proposed algorithm also controls perfectly the false negative/positive rates of the generated rules by parameters. Therefore, network analysts can effectively apply the proposed association rule mining to the network intrusion detection task by solving two issues.

  • Recently, a variety of data mining techniques has been applied in various fields like healthcare, insurance, and internet shopping mall. Association rule mining is a popular and well researched method for discovering interesting relations among large set of data items. Association rule mining is the method to quantify the relationship between each set of items in very huge database based on the association thresholds. There are three primary quality measures for association rules; support and confidence and lift. In this paper we consider some similarity measures with negative co-occurrence frequencies which is widely used in cluster analysis or multi-dimensional analysis as association thresholds. The comparative studies with support, confidence and some similarity measures are shown by numerical example.

  • SNS is a social networking service that helps people to have a two-way communication, manage their personal relationships and share information. The domestic and international SNS markets have attained a steady growth, and their growth is being more accelerated recently. Under these circumstances, immature students are more likely to show negative cyber behavior. This study attempted to analyze the relationship between the use of SNS, motives of SNS use, the use of active SNS functions, SNS-dependency and views in SNS and negative SNS behaviors among elementary and middle school students. For this, negative cycber behaviors are classified into four stages depending on the severity, for each of which distribution of factors is investigated and the combination of factors to determine each stage is obtained through association rule analysis. As a result, it is found that 85% of the students rarely show negative cyber behaviors, stealing personal information and contacting with strangers are the most frequent negative behaviors, and students with a great dependency on SNS are highly probable to show negative behaviors.

  • By Wikipedia, big data is a broad term for data sets so large or complex that traditional data processing applications are inadequate. Data mining is the computational process of discovering patterns in huge data sets involving methods at the intersection of association rule, decision tree, clustering, artificial intelligence, machine learning. Association rule is a well researched method for discovering interesting relationships between itemsets in huge databases and has been applied in various fields. There are positive, negative, and inverse association rules according to the direction of association. If you want to set the evaluation criteria of association rule, it may be desirable to consider three types of association rules at the same time. To this end, we proposed a balanced comparative confidence considering sensitivity, specificity, false positive, and false negative, checked the conditions for association threshold by Piatetsky-Shapiro, and compared it with comparative confidence and inversely comparative confidence through a few experiments.

  • This study is intended to investigate that it is possible to analyze the public awareness and satisfaction of the weather forecast service provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) through social media data as a way to overcome limitations of the questionnaire-based survey in the previous research. Sentiment analysis and association rule mining were used for Twitter data containing opinions about the weather forecast service. As a result of sentiment analysis, the frequency of negative opinions was very high, about 75%, relative to positive opinions because of the nature of public services. The detailed analysis shows that a large portion of users are dissatisfied with precipitation forecast and that it is needed to analyze the two kinds of error types of the precipitation forecast, namely, 'False alarm' and 'Miss' in more detail. Therefore, association rule mining was performed on negative tweets for each of these error types. As a result, it was found that a considerable number of complaints occurred when preventive actions were useless because the forecast predicting rain had a 'False alarm' error. In addition, this study found that people's dissatisfaction increased when they experienced inconveniences due to either unpredictable high winds and heavy rains in summer or severe cold in winter, which were missed by weather forecast. This study suggests that the analysis of social media data can provide detailed information about forecast users' opinion in almost real time, which is impossible through survey or interview.
