  • In this paper, we analyze 5G network slicing and propose an efficient network slice configuration method in 5G mobile networks. Network slicing can be identified and performed based on the network slice instance information in 5G mobile networks. In case of discordance between the UE's network slice instance information and the network's one, the unnecessary signalling overhead occurs, when the UE's PDU Session Establishment request to the network fails. To solve this problem, this paper proposes two efficient network slice configuration methods, the UE-based ENSC(Efficient Network Slice Configuration) method and the Network-based ENSC method. The proposed schemes perform the prompt the configuration and provision of the updated network slice instance information between the UE and network and improve battery and resource efficiency and minimize unnecessary signalling overhead compared to existing methods in 5G mobile networks.

  • The explosive growth of data traffic and services has created cost challenges for networks. Studies have attempted to effectively apply network slicing in fifth generation networks to provide high speed, low latency, and various compatible services. However, in network slicing using mixed-integer linear programming, the operation count increases exponentially with the number of physical servers and virtual network functions (VNFs) to be allocated. Therefore, we propose an efficient slice allocation method based on cluster technology, comprising the following three steps: i) clustering physical servers; ii) selecting an appropriate cluster to allocate a VNF; iii) selecting an appropriate physical server for VNF allocation. Solver runtimes of the existing and proposed methods are compared, under similar settings, with respect to intra-slice isolation. The results show that solver runtime decreases, by approximately 30% on average, with an increase in the number of physical servers within the cluster in the presence of intra-slice isolation.

  • As Network Slicing functionality gets applied to mobile networking, a mechanism that enables the selection of network slices becomes indispensable. Following the 3GPP Technical Specification for the 5G Architecture, the inclusion of the Network Slice Selection Function (NSSF) in order to leverage the process of slice selection is apparent. However, actual implementation of this network function needs to deal with the dynamic changes of network instances, due to this, a platform that supports the orchestration of Virtual Network Functions (VNF) is required. Our proposed solution include the use of the Central Office Rearchitected as a Data Center (CORD) platform, with the specified profile for mobile networks (M-CORD) that integrates a service orchestrator (XOS) alongside solutions oriented to Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (VNF) and virtual machine management through OpenStack, in order to provide the right ecosystem where our implementation of NSSF can obtain slice information dynamically by relying on synchronization between back-end services and network function instances.

  • In this study, we developed a method classifying slice shot during golf practice using backpropagation algorithm. The 144 data based on the backpropagation model(11 inputs, 2 outputs) was used as a learning set and the model was verified based on the extra 50 data in the process to predict a slice shot in golf swing. The results showed 100% separating rate of learning set and 91.5% separating rate of verified set. The developed method can be potentially beneficial for the predicting of slice shot in an indoor golf excercise setting without applying any additional equipment.

  • In the three-dimensional domain image expressed with two-dimensional slice images, such as fMRI images and multi-slice CT images, we propose the three-dimensional domain automatic segmentation for the purpose of extracting region. In this paper, we segmented each domain from the fMRI images of the head of people and monkey. We used the neural network "Pulse-Coupled Neural Network" which is one of the models of visual cortex of the brain based on the knowledge from neurophysiology as the technique. By using this technique, we can segment the region without any learning. Then, we reported the result of division of each domain and extraction to the fMRI slice images of human's head using "three-dimensional Pulse-Coupled Neural Network" which is arranged and created the neuron in the shape of a three-dimensional lattice.

  • Hippocampal slice models can be a powerful tool to study the mechanism of partial epilepsy. Despite the loss of connection with the rest of the brain, in vitro hippocampal slice preparations allow detailed physiological and pharmacological studies, which would be impossible, in vivo. There are several methods to induce electrographic seizures on hippocampal slice models. Those are electrical pulse train stimulation, 0 $Mg^{2+}$ artificial cerebrational fluid and high concentration of extracelluar $K^+$ on bath. Among them, the electrically triggered seizure may mimic the physiological communication between neuronal populations without any deterioration of normal physiologic and chemical status of the hippocampal slice models. Presumably, such communication from hyperexcitable areas to other neuronal populations is involved in the development of epilepsy. Electrographic seizures in hippocampal slice models occur in the network of neurons that are involved in epileptic seizures in the hippocampus in vivo. Because these models have many advantages and are very valuable to research of epileptogenesis on partial epilepsy, I would like to introduce the electrophysiological methods to induce electrographic seizure or epilepsy on hippocampal slice models briefly in this paper.

  • The rapid development of mobile communication not only has made the industry gradually diversified, but also has enhanced the service quality requirements of users. In this regard, it is imperative to consider jointly network slicing and mobile edge computing. The former mainly ensures the requirements of varied vertical services preferably, and the latter solves the conflict between the user's own energy and harsh latency. At present, the integration of the two faces many challenges and need to carry out at different levels. The main target of the paper is to minimize the energy consumption of the system, and introduce a multi-slice joint task offloading and resource allocation scheme for massive multiple input multiple output enabled heterogeneous networks. The problem is formulated by collaborative optimizing offloading ratios, user association, transmission power and resource slicing, while being limited by the dissimilar latency and rate of multi-slice. To solve it, assign the optimal problem to two sub-problems of offloading decision and resource allocation, then solve them separately by exploiting the alternative optimization technique and Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions. Finally, a novel slices task offloading and resource allocation algorithm is proposed to get the offloading and resource allocation strategies. Numerous simulation results manifest that the proposed scheme has certain feasibility and effectiveness, and its performance is better than the other baseline scheme.

  • The Internet traffic is forecasted to grow at a compound annual rate of 21 % from 2013 to 2018, according to surveys carried out by Cisco [1]. Network resources are significantly over-provisioned in today's networks, and it is quite common to see link utilization in the 30-40% range [2]. Additionally, the multi-media services have widely divergent bandwidth and Quality of Experience (QoE) requirements. Unfortunately, the huge transmission capacity will increase the power consumption of network equipment [3]. Applications Coordinated with Transport, Internet Protocol and Optical Networks (ACTION) [4] has been proposed to realize a multi-QoE, application-centric, and highly energy-efficient network that leverages flexible elastic optical network technologies [5-7]. This paper provides key network technologies for realizing the ACTION, which are a virtual optical slice core network and a Time Division Multiplexing (TDM)-based deterministic active optical access network.

  • This paper presents the network models for general dynamic conveyor systems which are characterized by transporting and storing materials between work stations over time. With an appropriate choice of time-slice the conveyor system can be represented exactly as a dynamic flow network which can be solved by an efficient pure network algorithm.
