  • The purpose of this study is in analyzing factors related to a teacher's nursery efficacy. In order to achieve its purpose, a study includes investigation about levels of 748 teachers' interest and knowledge in a child nursery from multi-cultural families, teachers' efforts for understanding the children from multi-cultural families, availability of experience with a child care from multi-cultural families, a teacher's multi-cultural nursery efficacy and general nursery efficacy. As a result of investigation, a study found out that 4 factors (interest, knowledge, efforts, and experience) are related to nursery efficacy and the fact that a teacher's general nursery efficacy is highly associated with multi-cultural nursery efficacy. For this result, providing information about a child care from multi-cultural families and supporting general nursery efficacy play a critical role in supporting teachers' competency about a child care from multi-cultural families.

  • The nursery active-wear uniform designs of Internet shopping malls are simple and similar; however, the latest children's wear trends (mostly composed of training jumpers and pants) do not reflect these qualities. Children's folklore plays (widely used in child education) have an instructive value for the emotional and intellectual development of a child. Nursery active-wear uniform designs applied to children's folklore's plays could be positive for the emotional development and specialized cultural education of children. We designed three nursery active-wear uniforms with three different design concepts (casual, semi-formal and sporty) regardless of sex. The main color of the three nursery active-wear uniforms was yellow. We used three different chroma and values of yellow through three design concepts: Design I of a nursery active-wear uniform (a training suit style with a good activity), Design II of a nursery active-wear uniform (a semi suit style), and Design III of a nursery active-wear uniform (a sportswear style that reflected a sport wear trend). We expressed children's folklore plays in the pattern of a nursery active-wear uniform. The pattern was characterized as a pair of bears flying kites. This pattern was utilized in three nursery active-wear uniforms with the logo and name of the nursery. We modified the designs of active-wear nursery uniforms based on an evaluation of 33 special panels. We made three nursery active-wear uniforms for five-year olds.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of two major groups of early childhood teachers, (that is, kindergarten teachers and nursery teachers), in terms of the image of what constitutes an early childhood teacher. More specifically, this study sought to investigate any possible gaps between the two groups in that aspect, in an effort to shed light on (and understand in greater detail), the awareness of the two groups regarding the image of early childhood teachers in detail. The subjects in this study comprised 310 early childhood teachers, out of which 156 teachers worked in kindergartens and 154 teachers worked in daycare centers in Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province. The findings of the study were as follows : First, kindergarten teachers' images of a kindergarten teacher were mostly associated with the professional domain, followed by the domain of personality, a physical domain and a professional attitude domain. As a result of checking the awareness of the nursery teachers regarding the image of a kindergarten teacher in more detail, their image of a kindergarten teacher appeared to be mostly associated with the professional domain, followed by the professional attitude domain, the domain of personality and the physical domain. There were statistically significant gaps between the kindergarten teachers and the nursery teachers in terms of their image of a kindergarten teacher. Second, as for the awareness of the kindergarten teachers of the image of a nursery teacher, their image of a nursery teacher was mostly linked to the domain of personality, followed by the professional domain, the physical domain and the professional attitude domain. Regarding the awareness of the nursery teachers of the image of a nursery teacher, their image of a nursery teacher was mostly associated with the professional domain, followed by the domain of personality, the professional attitude domain and the physical domain. Statistically significant gaps between the kindergarten teachers and the nursery teachers were found in the image of a nursery teacher.

  • Swampland is a potential alternative land to be used in various agricultural production activities in Indonesia, because Indonesia have 33.41 million hectares of swamp land that consists of 13.28 million hectares nontidal swamp and million hectares 20.13 tidal swamp. In the province of South Sumatra, because of unpredictable water level in the field before planting, farmers have been doing agronomic adaptation method through the delay time of transplanting and forced to apply more than one the nursery practice with the combination of a floating nursery method and a dry-bed nursery method. This study was aimed to (1) evaluate the seedling growth and tillering pattern of several popular Indonesian rice varieties, and (2) look for alternative technologies to get a better rice seedlings under two nursery methods in the nontidal swamp land. In the first experiment, the seedling growth characteristics of five rice varieties (Ciherang, Inpara 5, Inpara 9, Inpari 29, and Inpari 30) was evaluated by two methods of nursery, i.e. floating nursery and dry-bed nursery. In the second experiment, rice variety of Inpari 30 was treated with Zn seed priming and foliar fertilizer of 2,300 ppm N at the nursery stage. Those treatments were combined with the time of seedling under floating and dry-bed nursery. The results of the first experiment showed that of the five varieties tested, dry-bed nursery method showed better seedling growth than floating nursery. This was indicated by high leaf number, tiller number, tillers pattern, shoot-root ratio and relative growth rate. Ciherang and Inpari 30 showed high tiller number, and they had produced tertiary tiller in the sixth week of observation. Moreover, shorter period of floating and dry-bed nursery in combination with the treatment of Zn seed priming and spraying seedling with foliar fertilizer N could improve the growth of seedlings.

  • This study was conducted to produce high quality ginseng seedlings by improvement of the physical properties of nursery soil. In order to select optimum nursery conditions, nursery types were treated with the yangiik nursery and semi-yangiik nursery. Soil conditioners were treated with two different materials of puffed rice husks and perlite. This experiments were tested at Gyunggido Agricultural Research and Extention Services, Hwaseng, from 2003 to 2004. Soil permeability was better at the plot of yangiik nursery than that of semi-yangjik nursery, and was better at plot of puffed rice husks than that of perlite. Soil porosity was improved 2.2% at plot of yangjiik nursery compare at that of semi-yangjik nursery, and was improved 2.0% at plot of puffed rice husks compared to control. There was no difference in the number of ginseng plants per kan among treatments. Root length was longer at plot of yangjik nursery than that of semi-yangjik nursery. More available ginseng plants per kan were obtained from the plot of yangjik nursery by more 252 seedlings than that of semi-yangjik nursery, but there was no significant difference between soil conditioners. The number of available seedlings per kan produced from yangjik nursery was 21.7% higher than those produced by semi-yangjik nursery. The number of available seedlings per kan produced from plot of puffed rice husks was 16.3% higher than that of control.

  • This study was carried out to determine the effect of various period of nursery on the growth, yield and labor saving of work by truncation on floral axis of Alisma plantago in the southern coastal areas of Korea. The growth characteristics such as p]ant height, number of leaves were more increased at 20 days of nursery period plot them that of nursery periods. The dried-root yield was highest then but the floral axis was lowest at the 20 days of nursery period plot then that of other nursery periods. Therefore optimum period on nursery of Alisma plantago was 20days of nursery period in southern areas of Korea.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the availability of covering material used for raising seedlings in the rice nursery bed. The pre-germinated seeds of a rice cultivar 'Chilbo' were sown into seedling tray ($60{\times}30{\times}2.5cm$) on 20th April and 3rd May 2010. Polypropylene spunbonded fabric (PSF) and lagging were used for covering materials in rice nursery bed. The growth characteristics of seedlings were evaluated at 8, 15 and 25 days after sowing (DAS) in the nursery beds covered with PSF and lagging, respectively. The plant height of 8-day old seedlings grown in lagging nursery bed was longer by 2cm than those in PSF nursery bed when the seeds were sown on 20th April, but seedling quality grown in lagging nursery bed was poor compared with that in PSF nursery bed. The growth characteristics of 15-day old seedlings were similar to that of 8-day old seedlings. The plant height of 8, 15 and 25-day old seedlings grown in lagging nursery was longer than those in PSF nursery when the seeds were sown on 3rd May. The seedling quality grown in PSF nursery was better than that in lagging nursery. The seedlings grown in PSF nursery have more leaves and better seedling quality compared with that of lagging nursery. The seedling quality was remarkably decreased with the increase of nursery period in lagging bed but seedlings quality were recovered at 5 days after hardening treatment by removing the lagging.

  • In order to get healthy seedling of rice suitable for rice transplanter, the growing characteristics of the seedling grown under different growing days and sowing densities were invesigated and the results obtained were summarized as follows; In the 20 days old seedling, the difference of growing state of seed ling and its characteristics between the two types of nursery bed was not found, but for the 30 days old seedling, both of the crop growth rate and the relative growth rate on the band-type nursery bed appeared higher than those on the mat-type nursery bed. And also, "the dry weight, the content of cardohydrate and the ratio of dry weight to plant height of the seedling grown on the band-type nursery bed were much higher than those on the mat-type nursery bed, however the amount of difference of seedling characteristics between two types of nursery bed was decreased for 40 days old seedling and leaf number was not increased. The amount of the seedling growth was increased with less density of sowing and for the difference between the higher and the less density, the difference getting bigger with the longer nursery days. The maximum density of sowing was approximately 200cc per nursery case on the band-type nursery bed and 250cc per nursery case on the mat-type nursery bed. It was seemed that the growing uniformity of the seedling grown on the mat-type nursery bed was better than that on the band- type nursery bed, As the coefficient of variation of the plant height and the leaf numbers of the seedling grown on the band- type nursery bed was higher than that on the mat-type nursery bed.

  • Nursery is a very important space for the development and growth of children. Domestic national nurseries mostly have uniform space composition, and there is no significant difference from the general architecture. Therefore, this study focused on presuming the cause of uniformity in domestic nursery space configuration through analysing the competition guidelines. For this purpose, we reviewed the procedure of the competitions and collected 57 competition guidelines for the last 10 years. The competition guideline was divided into design guidelines and evaluation items, and each of them were analysed focused on the contents of the items and the changes over time. The derived results suggested the problems which seem to affect the uniformity of the domestic nursery in three aspects: design guidelines, evaluation items, and the current procedure of nursery competitions.
