금앵자 에탄올 추출물에 의한 3T3-L1 지방세포의 분화억제 효과와 그 메커니즘 규명 (Inhibitory Effects and Molecular Mechanism of Adipocyte Differentiation by Rosae laevigata Fructus Ethanol Extracs)

  • 비만은 체내 지방이 과도하게 축적되어 일어나는 현상으로, 당뇨, 고혈압, 심혈관 질환 및 암과 같은 질병의 원인이 된다. 본 연구는 RLE에 의해 지방전구세포에서 지방세포로 분화 시, 세포 내 축적되는 Triglyceride 저해 및 발현되는 전사인자들의 발현양상에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. 그 결과, RLE는 Oil Red O 염색에서 세포 내 triglyceride의 축적을 농도 의존적으로 억제하였다. 또한 CCAAT/enhancer binding protein(C/EBP) ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$와 peroxisome proliferator activated receptor ${\gamma}$($PPAR{\gamma}$)과 같은 지방세포 분화 관련 전사인자들의 발현을 억제하였다. RLE는 clonal expansion 단계의 지방세포를 G1기에서 세포 주기를 정지시켜 세포의 증식을 억제하였으며, RLE 처리에 의해 p21의 증가, Cyclin E, Cdk2, Phospho-Rb의 발현 저해 등 G1 arrest 관련 단백질의 발현 변화가 유도되었다. 따라서, RLE는 분화 관련 전사인자들의 발현을 조절하고 지방세포 분화 초기에 G1기의 세포 주기 정지를 억제함으로써 지방전구세포에서 지방세포로의 분화를 억제한다고 사료된다.

클로버 오일을 이용한 생마 저온부패균의 제어 및 기능성 생마 신선편이의 제조 (Control of Yam-Putrefactive Psychrotrophic Bacterium Using Clove Oil and Preparation of Functional Fresh-Cut)

  • 생마의 저장성 및 접근성 강화에 따른 소비증대 및 유통 안전성을 확보하기 위해, 생마 저온부패균을 효율적으로 제어하는 천연물을 선별하였다. 저온$(4^{\circ}C)$ 및 상온$(30^{\circ}C)$ 부패에 직접적으로 관여하는 Pseudomonas rhodesiae YAM-12 에 대해 다양한 자생 및 약용식물 추출물 800여종의 항균력을 평가하였으며, 그 결과 클로버 오일을 선정하였으며, 이를 이용한 생마 신선편이 개발 가능성을 검토하였다. 건전생마 신선편이에 1%클로버 오일을 3분간 침지하여, $4^{\circ}C$에서 31일간 저장한 경우, 색차의 변화는 거의 나타나지 않았으며, 미생물의 증식 또한 완전히 억제되었다. 한편 P. rhodesiae YAM-12를 인위적으로 오염시키고(초기농도 $10^3$ CFU/g), $4^{\circ}C$에서 14일간 저장한 경우에도, 1%클로버 오일의 처리는 색차 변화를 최소화하며, 미생물증식을 $10^4$ CFU/g로 억제하였다. 반면 무처리, 멸균수 및 NaOCl 처리의 경우에는 심각한 부패와 함께 색차변화로 상품성을 상실하였다. 클로버 오일의 항균, 항산화, 항혈전 활성과 향신료로 사용되어온 점을 고려할 때, 클로버 오일을 처리한 생마 신선편이는 별도의 화학 방부제 처리 없이 생마의 유통안전성 향상 및 부패억제, 기능성 및 향미부여에 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

허혈성 심뇌혈관질환자에서 폐쇄성 수면무호흡증 정도 및 영향요인 (Level of Obstructive Sleep Apnea of Patients with Ischemic Cardio-cerebrovascular Disease and Affecting Factors)

  • 본 연구는 허혈성 심뇌혈관질환자의 폐쇄성 수면무호흡증 위험정도를 파악하고 그 영향요인을 규명하기 위해 시도되었다. 심뇌혈관집중치료실에 입원한 허혈성 심뇌혈관질환자 141명을 대상으로 구조화된 자가설문지 사용하였고, 펄스 옥시미터를 사용하여 세 시점에서 수면 중 혈중산소포화도를 측정하였으며 SPSS/WIN 20.0을 이용하여 통계분석을 시행하였다. 연구 결과 대상자의 평균연령은 $64.4{\pm}11.1$세였고 남자가 61%였다. 심뇌혈관질환자의 21.3%가 폐쇄성 수면무호흡증 고위험군으로 파악되었고 71.6%에서 수면의 질이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 폐쇄성 수면무호흡증 고위험군의 수면 중기와 말기에 측정한 산소포화도는 저위험군보다 통계적으로 유의하게 낮은 것으로 나타났으며, 다중회귀분석 결과, 심뇌혈관질환자의 폐쇄성 수면무호흡증 영향요인으로서 과거흡연, 잦은 코골이, 비만, 운동부족이 확인되었다. 따라서, 본 연구결과는 심뇌혈관질환 간호에 있어 폐쇄성 수면무호흡증 또는 잦은 코골이를 위험요인으로 중요하게 인식하고, 심뇌혈관질환의 이차적 재발 예방을 위해 폐쇄성 수면무호흡증 고위험군의 조기선별 및 환자와 가족을 지지하고 건강행태 개선을 위한 상담과 퇴원교육을 강화하기 위한 기초자료로 활용될 것이다.

체육전공 신입생들의 체질량지수, 신체이미지, 식사태도 및 신체활동량 조사 (The Investigation of Body Mass Index, Body Image, Eating Attitude, and Physical Activity in Physical Education Freshman)

  • 본 연구는 체육전공 남녀 신입생들을 대상으로 체질량지수(Body mass index; BMI), 신체이미지, 식사태도 및 신체활동량의 차이와 상관관계를 규명하는데 있다. 남녀 체육전공 신입생 595명(남녀: 341 vs. 254)이 본 연구에 참여하였고, 대상자들은 신체이미지(Body sahpe questionnaire; BSQ), 식사태도(Eating attitude test-26; EAT-26), 및 신체활동(International physical activity questionnaires; IPAQ)에 대한 설문지를 작성하였다. 체질량지수에 따라 분류하였을 때 정상체중은 67.2%로 나타났으며, 저체중은 5.4%, 과체중과 비만이 17.8%, 9.6%로 나타났다. 남학생들의 57.7%와 여학생들의 78.7%는 정상체중으로 분류되었다. BSQ 검사 결과 총 대상자 중 불만족의 비율은 48.2%로 나타났으며, 남학생 22.9%와 여학생 82.3%가 불만족으로 나타났다. EAT-26 검사 결과 전체 20.2%가 비정상적인 식사태도를 가지고 있었으며, 남학생과 여학생의 비율은 7.3% vs. 37.4%로 나타났다. 신체 활동량 조사 결과 99%의 대상자들이 활동적으로 조사되었다. BMI, BSQ, EAT-26, 그리고 신체활동량은 남녀 간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 신체이미지와 식사태도는 남녀 대상자 모두에서 유의한 상관관계를 보였으며, 체질량지수는 남자 대상자들에서만 신체이미지와 식사태도와 유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 그러나 신체활동량은 남녀 모두에서 다른 변인들과 상관관계가 없었다. 결론적으로 체육전공 대학생들의 신체불만족과 비정상적인 식사태도의 비율이 높으며, 신체이미지의 불만족이 높을수록 비정상적인 식사태도를 가지고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 이에 적합한 교육과 사회적 인식의 전환이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

폐기능 장애와 대사 증후군 관련성: 2008-2013 국민건강 영양조사 자료 사용 단면연구 (Associations between pulmonary function disorders & Metabolic Syndrome: A Cross-Sectional Study Using Data from KNHANES 2008-2013)

  • 본 연구는 심혈관 질환을 공통적으로 동반하는 폐기능 장애와 대사증후군 관계에 대한 연구이다. 이들 질환이 상호 관련성이 있다는 가정 하에 폐기능 장애와 대사증후군간의 상호 관련성 여부를 확인하여 올바른 질환 관리를 위한 초석을 마련하고자 하였다. 자료는 국민건강 영양조사 자료중 2008년부터 2013년까지 6년간 자료를 통합한 53,829건에서, 폐기능 검사를 시행한 만 40세 이상으로 모든 혼란 변수를 통제한 정제된 자료 8,137명(남자, 3,951명, 여자 4,186명)의 자료를 사용하였다. 폐기능 장애는 GOLD(Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease)기준에 따라 폐쇄성, 제한성으로 구분하였고, 대사증후군은 개정된 NCEP-ATPIII(National Cholesterol Education Program-Expert Panel-Adult Treatment Panel III)기준을 사용하였다. 연관성 분석은 로지스틱 회귀분석을, 유병률은 교차 분석을 시행하였다. 연구 결과, 연관성 분석에서 폐쇄성 폐질환은 대사증후군과 직접적인 관련성을 보이지 않았으며 제한성 폐질환은 대사증후군과 직접적인 관련성을 보였다. 유병률 분석에서는 폐쇄성 폐질환과 제한성 폐질환 모두 대조군보다 높은 대사증후군 유병률을 보였다. 그러나 제한성 폐질환의 대사증후군 유병률이 폐쇄성 폐질환의 대사증후군 유병률보다 더 높았다. 결론적으로 폐쇄성이 아니라 제한성 폐질환이 대사증후군과 유의한 연관성을 보였고 대사증후군 유병률도 더 높았다.

울산지역 일부 초등학생의 식행동 유형과 임상증상 유형 (Dietary behavior types and clinical symptomology of elementary school students in Ulsan Metropolitan City)

  • This study aims to investigate both general dietary behaviors and clinical symptoms of diet related effects among fifth grade students at an elementary school in Ulsan Metropolitan City, and to categorize those relationships in terms of their comparative differences. The findings of this study are as follows. 1. Out of 694 students polled, 53.7% were of boys and 46.2% were girls with average age of $11.9{\pm}0.3$, average height of $145.1{\pm}6.8cm$, and average weight of $39.7{\pm}9.7kg$. Obesity in boys (5.5%) exceeded girls (3.9%) whereas children categorized as underweight showed girls (14.6%) slightly exceeded boys (10.4%). 2. Dietary behaviors were largely the result of four factors - unbalanced diet, balanced diet, protein and fruits and healthy dietary habits. Of these factors, protein and fruits ($4.04{\pm}1.03$) ranked first, balanced diet ($3.38{\pm}1.04$) second, healthy dietary habits ($3.04{\pm}1.01$) third and unbalanced diet ($2.23{\pm}0.6$) ranked last. 3. When Dietary behaviors were classified with four low ranking factors, they were divided into four types such as convenience (22.4%), good diet (24.7%), busy contemporary modern man (24.3%) and healthy dietary habits (26%). 4. Clinical symptoms include colds ($2.27{\pm}1.15$) followed by headaches ($2.17{\pm}1.19$), stomachaches ($2.16{\pm}1.15$), dizziness ($2.02{\pm}1.15$), atopic allergy ($1.95{\pm}1.30$), prevalence for cold sores ($1.86{\pm}1.07$), allergy ($1.65{\pm}1.05$), and constipation ($1.54{\pm}0.87$). 5. According to the results, clinical symptoms were divided into two groups - unhealthy (40.1%) and healthy (59.9%). 6. By analyzing the relationship between dietary behavior types and clinical symptom types, the convenience factor included slightly more of the unhealthy group (56.3%), whereas the good diet (71.1%), busy contemporary modern person (55.8%) and healthy dietary habits (69.7%) included more of healthy group (p<.001). Since the majority of students belonging to the unhealthy group had convenience dietary behavior, education about desirable dietary activities is needed for these students. In addition, nutrition information and information on possible clinical symptoms caused by nutritional imbalance should be provided for students and their households.

The Relation of Body Mass Index to Dietary Intake and Blood Lipid Levels in Korean Adults

  • This study was designed to investigate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and dietary intake, and the relationship between BMI and plasma lipid levels in Korean adults. This study was conducted from January 1 to December 31 of 1997. It consisted of 3781 subjects (men 2402, women : 1379) with the majority between the ages of 40 and 59. The dietary assessment was based upon a twenty-four-hour food record. Subjects were classified into one of four reference BMI groups : underweight ($\leq 20 kg/m^2$), normal (20.1-25.0 kg/$m^2$), overweight (25.1-30.0 kg/$m^2$), and obese (>30 kg/$m^2$). The biochemical assessment included measurements of plasma total cholesterol (TC), HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C), LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C), triglyceride (TG), lipoprotein (a), and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1). The BMI study showed that 60.5% of the men measured were normal and 32.6% of the men were overweight and/or obese subjects. Sixty-four percent of the women were normal and 20.3% of the women measured were overweight and/o. obese subjects. With respect to the daily energy intake of the men and women subjects, the levels of daily energy intake appeared to increase as values of BMI increased. Men of the overweight group had significantly higher protein, fat and cholesterol intake than those of the normal or the underweight groups. The alcohol intake of the men in the overweight group was also significantly higher than that of the men in the underweight group. With respect to percent energy intake of macronutrients, there was no significant difference between the four BMI groups and percent energy intake for all the subjects in the study. The ratio of percent energy intake of carbohydrates : protein : fat : alcohol of the normal women group was 62 : 17 : 20 : 1, respectively. Women apparently had a higher intake of carbohydrates than men (52 : 17 : 19 : 10). With respect to the levels of plasma TC, LDL-C, TG, and HDL-C, the levels of plasma TC, LDL-C and TC appeared to increase as the values of BMI increased, while the level of HDL-C appeared to decrease as values of BMI increased. Levels of lipoprotein (a) appeared to be inversely related to the values of BMI, and levels of PAI-1 appeared to increase as values of BMI increased. The results of this study demonstrate that there is a relationship between dietary intake and BMI, and that there is a relationship between BMI and blood lipids levels.

부산, 경남지역 청각장애 고등학생의 영양지식, 식행동 및 영양소 섭취 상태 (A Study on the Nutrition Knowledge, Dietary Behaviors and Nutrient Intakes of the Deaf-mute High School Students)

  • This study was conducted to provide basic information on the nutritional status and dietary behaviors of the deaf teenagers. The subjects of this study were 87 deaf-mute high school students in Pusan and Kyung-nam area and, in comparison,90 general high school students in Ham-an area. The survey was investigated by using a self-administered questionnaire. The results were as follows: Deaf-mute group was consisted of 63.2% male and 36.8% female, and mean of height and weight of male were 171.2 cm and 61.9kg, female were 158.0cm and 51.7kg. Obesity index and body mass index (BMI) were normal range in both deaf-mute and normal groups. The average nutrition knowledge score of the deaf-mute group was 6.8 $\pm$ 1.5 out of possible 10 points, that was significantly lower than 7.3 $\pm$ 0.8 of the normal group (p<0.01). The mean of self-control and conscious control scores in the eating behaviors of the deaf-mute group were 2.6 $\pm$ 1.2 and 2.4 $\pm$ 1.3 out of possible 5 points from each item, which was significantly higher than 2.1 $\pm$ 1.3 and 1.8 $\pm$ 1.4 of the normal group (p< 0,01). Nutrients consumed below 90% of Korean RDA were energy (79.9%), Ca (71.5%) for deaf-mute male students and Ca (88.5%) for deaf-mute female students. Energy (71.4%), protein (87.8%), Ca (74.8%), vitamin B$_1$ (83.4%) intake of normal male students and energy (72.8%), Ca (71.2%), Fe (78.7%) intake of normal female students were below 90% of Korean RDA. Energy, protein, fat, vitamin B$_1$, niacin intake of deaf-mute male students were significantly higher than normal male students and all nutrients intake of deaf-mute female students were significantly higher than normal female students. By the correlation of nutrients intakes with nutrition knowledge, there was positive correlation with the intakes of Ca, Fe, vitamin A, vitamin B$_2$, and vitamin C in the deaf-mute group, while there was negative correlation with the nutrients intakes (except for protein and fat) in the normal group. The amount of meal, breakfast, regularity of meal time, frequency of snacks showed a positive relation to nutrient intakes in deaf-mute group and amount of meal, breakfast, regularity of meal time, frequency of overeating showed a positive relation to nutrient intakes in normal group. The nutrition knowledge had no correlation with food habits or eating behaviors in both groups.(Korean J Nutrition 35(9) : 982~995, 2002)

Nutritional aspects of night eating and its association with weight status among Korean adolescents

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: A growing body of research has indicated that night eating could be associated with poor diet quality and negative health outcomes. This study examined the nutritional aspects of night eating, its related factors, and the association between night eating and body weight among Korean adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study analysed the data from a one day 24-hour dietary recall as well as a demographic survey of 1,738 Korean adolescents aged 12 to 18-years-old obtained from the 2010-2012 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. 'Night eating' was defined as consuming 25% or more of one's daily energy intake between 21:00 and 06:00. Subjects complying with the preceding condition were classified as 'night eaters', whereas the rest were considered 'non-night eaters'. Logistic regression analysis examined factors related to night eating. Multiple linear regression analyses were used to examine the relationship between night eating and BMI z-scores, whereas multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between night eating and weight status. RESULTS: About 21% of Korean adolescents appeared to be night eaters. Night eaters showed increased breakfast skipping (P = 0.001), higher energy intake from snacks (P < 0.001), greater proportion of energy intake from fat (P = 0.029), and lower Dietary Diversity Scores (P = 0.008) than non-night eaters. Male adolescents presented 1.9 times higher odds of being night eaters than females. Adolescents whose both parents were night eaters were 4.4 times as likely to be night eaters as those whose neither parents were. Female adolescents showed a significant relationship between night eating and BMI z-scores (${\beta}=0.28$, P = 0.004). However, night eating did not increase odds of being overweight or obese in adolescents. CONCLUSIONS: Night eating in Korean adolescents was related to undesirable dietary behaviours and low diet quality in general as well as higher BMI z-scores in females. Male gender and parental night eating appeared to be the factors that significantly increased odds of night eating. These results suggest that night eating should be considered when designing nutrition education or intervention programs targeting adolescents.

과체중 여성에서 L-carnitine과 Isoflavone 보충 섭취가 체중 및 내장지방 감소에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of L-Carnitine and Isoflavone Supplementation on Weight Reduction and Visceral Fat Accumulation in Overweight Women)

  • This study was performed to examine the combined effects of L-carnitine and isoflavone supplementation on weight reduction and body fat distribution in overweight women. Overweight/obese women (body mass index > $23kg/m^2$) who were not diagnosed any type of diseases were included in this study and sixty subjects ($41.1{\pm}1.5$ years, $25.9{\pm}0.3kg/m^2)$ were randomly assigned to a placebo (n=30) or a supplement group (n=30, L-carnitine 300 mg+isoflavone 40 mg/day). We measured anthropometric parameters, abdominal fat distribution by computerizd tomography and blood components before and after the 12 week intervention period. After the 12 weeks of supplementation, subjects in L-carnitine and isoflavone supplement group showed a significant reduction of body weight (p < 0.001), body fat % (p < 0.05), and waist to hip ratio (p < 0.01) whereas placebo group did not show any changes. In a CT-scanned results, total fat area at L4 level was significantly reduced by 8.1% (p < 0.01) with the reduction of visceral fat area (-11.1%, p < 0.001) and subcutaneous fat area (-7.0%, p < 0.05) in the supplement group. The supplementation of L-carnitine and isoflavone showed the significant improvement of HDL-C (p < 0.01) and apoB (p < 0.05) concentrations, however, change values in those markers were not significant compared with those of the placebo group. In addition, a significant increase of adiponectin level (p<0.001) was observed in the supplement group after the intervention. The result of present study demonstrated that supplementation of 300 mg L-carnitine and 40 mg isoflavone per day fur 12 weeks can give beneficial effects on weight reduction and visceral fat accumulation. These potential antiobesity supplement can produce more favorable effects when combined with lifestyle modification.
