  • Recently, Distributed computing processing begins using both CPU(Central processing unit) and GPU(Graphic processing unit) to improve the performance to overcome darksilicon problem which cannot use all of the transistors because of the electric power limitation. There is an integrated graphics processor that CPU and GPU share memory and Last level cache(LLC). But, There is no LLC access rules between CPU and GPU, so if GPU and CPU processes run together at the same time, performance of both processes gets worse because of the contention on the LLC. This Paper gives evidence to prove the need of the Cache Partitioning and is mentioned about the cache partitioning design using page coloring to allocate the L3 Cache space only for the GPU process to guarantee GPU process performance.

  • The era of multi-core processors has begun since the limit of the clock speed has been reached. These days, multi-core technology is used not only in desktops, servers, and table PCs, but also in smartphones. In this architecture, there is always interference between processes, because of the sharing of system resources. To address this problem, cache partitioning is used, which can be roughly divided into two types: software and hardware cache partitioning. When it comes to dynamic cache partitioning, hardware cache partitioning is superior to software cache partitioning, because it needs no page copy. In this paper, we compare the effectiveness of hardware and software cache partitioning on the AMD Opteron 6282 SE, which is the only commodity processor providing hardware cache partitioning, to see whether this technique can be effectively deployed in dynamic environments.

  • Methyl mercaptan oxidase was successfully induced in Thiobacillus thioparus TK-m using methyl mercaptan gas, and was purified for the detection of mercaptans. The purification procedure Involved a DEAE (diethylaminoethyl) -Sephacel, or Superose 12, column chromatography with recovery yields of 47.5 and 48.5%, and specific activities of 374 and 1240.8 units/mg-protein, respectively, The molecular weight of the purified methyl mercaptan oxidase was 66.1kDa, as determined by SDS-PAGE. The extract, from gel filtration chromatography oxidizes methyl mercaptan, producing formaldehyde, which can be easily detected by the purpald-coloring method. The optimized temperature for activity was found to be at 55$\^{C}$. This enzyme was inhibited by both NH$_4$Cl and (NH$_4$)$_2$SO$_4$, but was unaffected by either KCl or NaCl at less than 200 mM. With K$_2$SO$_4$, the activity decreased at 20 mM, but recovered at 150 mM. In the presence of methanol, full activity was maintained, but decreased in the presence of glycerin, ethanol and acetone 43, 78 and 75%, respectively.

  • The purposes of the study is to see as to how much of changes has occurred in the newly revised Home Economics Textbooks required by the 6th Curriculum as compared to those by the former the 5th Curriculum, and to seek future policy directions which can be improved even better, if any, for further revision. To implement this proposal, the study employs 8 different textbooks published in 1997 geared for the 6th Curriculum for data base. The components of the contents divides into two major parts. The first part falls into a category of holistic analysis of the textbooks, which gives a general perspective of the changes in the textbook revised. It includes those areas of changes in the total number of pages, cover page, illustrations, table of contents, appendices, unit cover, introductory remarks, summary and evaluation, etc. It also covers the information on authors of textbook. The latter part consists of several specific areas of major changes occurred in the textbooks for the 6th Curriculum. It covers such areas of changes in the composition of category and its weight, laboratory experiences, and illustrations and tables. To conclude the study, among many findings, two major points are of great importance to mention here. First, the new textbooks have adopted more of varieties in physical appearances and contents per se as to the older ones. And yet, there still found a weakness in numbers of authors participated to a full reflection of contents variety. In addition, the background of authors reflected on an unrealistic idealism which lacks the on-site information provided by the school teachers. Second, the strict regulations created by the Ministry of Education for developing textbook found restricting the authors creativity and thus contents variety of textbooks. Those restricting factors include letter type and size, coloring, paper quality, and volume size.

  • The sample book was printed in 1935. Since the books in the early twentieth century were printed using acidic paper, the color of the paper would change to brown over time due to iron corrosion. In addition to corroding iron cores, the acidity of the paper (pH 3.2) also made the paper brown and fragile, as was true in the case of the sample book. To clean the paper of the sample book and to make it strong, we replaced the iron core and performed wet cleaning on the paper to remove contaminants. Then we pressed the sample book dry, and subsequently linening every page with Minoshi($4g/m^2$). Generally, book conservator rebinding the book using wires or threads: however we have devised a new method to rebind the book using colored iron cores. To color the iron core brown, they were dipped in an aqueous coloring solution ($H_2O$, $C_2H_5OH$, $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$, $FeCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$); subsequently, a 20% paraloid B-72 was applied to protect the colored iron cores from corrosion.
