  • In this paper a nonparametric test for the parallelism of k regression lines against ordered alternatives, when the independent variables are positive and all regression lines have a common intercept is proposed. The proposed test is based on a Jonckheere-type statistic applied to residuals. Under some conditions the proposed test statistic is asymptotically distribution-free. The small-sample powers of our test are compared with other tests by a Monte Carlo study. The simulation results show that the proposed test has significantly higher empirical powers than the other tests considered in this paper.

  • A nonparametric test for testing the parallelism of regression lines against ordered alternatives is proposed. The proposed test statistic is based on a linear combination of robust slope estimators. It is a modified version of the Adichie's test statistics based on scores. A snail-sample Monte Carlo study shows that the proposed test is compatible with the Adichie's test.

  • A robust test is proposed for the problem of testing the parallelism of several regression lines against ordered alternatives. The proposed test statistic is based on a linear combination of one-step pairwise GM-estimators. We compare the performance of the proposed test with that of the other tests through a Monte Carlo simulation. The results of the simulation study show that the proposed test has stable levels, good empirical powers in various circumstances, and particularly higher empirical powers under the presence of extreme outliers or leverage points.

  • In this paper, we propose a Jonckheere type test statistic for testing the parallelism of k regression lines against ordered alternatives. The order restriction problems could arise in various settings such as location, scale, and regression problems. But most of theory about the statistical inferences under order restrictions has been developed to deal with location parameters. The proposed test is an application of Jonckheere's procedure to regression problem. Asymptotic normality and asymptotic distribution-free properties of the test statistic are obtained under some regularity conditions.

  • Parallelism tests are proposed for slope in the simple linear regression models. In this paper, we suggest the parametric test using HSD testing method (Tukey,1953) and distribution-free test using Kruskal-wallis (1952) for more than three slopes. Monte Carlo simulation study is adapted to compare the power of the proposed methods with Wilks' Lambda multivariate procedure.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the symmetry and parallelism of the skeletal and soft-tissue poria by three-dimensional (3D) computed tomographic (CT) imaging. Methods: The locations of the bilateral skeletal and soft-tissue poria in 29 patients with facial asymmetry (asymmetric group) and 29 patients without facial asymmetry (symmetric group) were measured in 3D reconstructed models of CT images by using a 3D coordinate system. The mean intergroup differences in the anteroposterior and vertical angular deviations of the poria and their anteroposterior and vertical parallelism were statistically analyzed. Results: The symmetric and asymmetric groups showed significant anteroposterior angular differences in both the skeletal and the soft-tissue poria (p = 0.007 and 0.037, respectively; Mann-Whitney U-test). No significant differences in the anteroposterior and vertical parallelism of the poria were noted ($p{\leq}0.05$; Wilcoxon signed-rank test). Conclusions: In general, the skeletal poria are parallel to the soft-tissue poria. However, patients with facial asymmetry tend to have asymmetric poria.

  • This paper suggests a nonparametric test for the parallelism of several regression lines against ordered alternatives. The test statistic is an extension of the Potthoff statistic. The asymptotic variance of the proposed statistic is estimated by Bootstrap method. The proposed test are compared with the Adichie's parametric and nonparametric tests.

  • In this paper, a novel time-domain measurement technique on a high parallelism probe card with protection resistors installed is proposed. The measured signal amplitude decreases when the measurement is performed by Needle Auto Calibration (NAC) probing on a high parallelism probe card with installed resistors. Therefore, the original signals must be carefully reconstructed, and the compensation coefficient, which is related to the number of channel branches and the value of protection resistors, must be introduced. The accuracy of the reconstructed signals is analyzed based on the varying number of channel branches and various protection resistances. The results demonstrate that the proposed technique is appropriate for evaluating the overall signal performance of probe cards with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), which enhances the efficiency of probe card performance test dramatically.

  • Regression analysis is useful to understand the relationship of variables; however, we need to test if the slope of each regression lines is the same when comparing several populations. This paper suggests a new parallelism test for several linear regression lines. We use F-test of ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis (1952) tests after obtaining slope estimator from a sequential slope. In addition, a Monte Carlo simulation study is adapted to compare the power of the proposed methods with those of Park and Kim (2009).

  • The loop is a fundamental for the parallelism exploiting as it has a large portion of execution time for sequential Java program on the parallel machine. This paper proposes the method of exploiting the implicit parallelism through the analysis of data dependence in the existing Java programming language having a single loop structure. The parallel code generation method through the restructuring compiler and the translation method of Java source program into multithread statement, which is supported in the level of the Java programming language, are also proposed here. The performance test of the program translated into the thread statement is conducted using the trip count of loop and the thread count as parameters. The restructuring compiler makes it possible for users to reduce overhead and exploit parallelism efficiently in the Java programming.
