In this paper, orthogonal block designs for partial diallel crosses are proposed. These partial diallel crosses block designs for estimating general combining abilities are constructed by using $\alpha$-resolvable partially balanced incomplete block designs. Also, the efficiencies of the partial diallel crosses block designs obtained through this method are reported in table.

In this paper, a method based on group divisible designs is presented for constructing some partial diallel crosses. We discuss in detail a particular inbred line, i.e., p lines divided into two groups with p$_1$ lines and p$_2$ lines. These designs are obtained by regarding the number of lines as treatments. In specially we study and compare the efficiency factors of the constructed partial diallel crosses with or without repeated blocks.

In this paper, the method of constructing incomplete block designs for comparing general combining abilities of p inbred lines for partial diallel crosses is proposed. These partial diallel crosses block designs are constructed by using m-associate class partially balanced incomplete block designs with block size 2 and balanced incomplete block designs. Also, the efficiencies of block designs obtained through this method are tabulated for number of lines 24 or less.

This experiment was conducted to obtain basic information on breeding of flue-cured tabacco varieties . Nine cultivars and partial diallel set of 36 Fl hybrids were grown at Daegu Experiment Station, Korea Ginseng & Tobacco Research Institute in 1983. Partial dominance with high additive gene effect was observed for yield, leaves per plant , days to flower, leaf weight, nicotine and reducing sugar content. partial dominance with additive and dominant gene effect was observed for stalk height , leaf width midrib weight Overdominance with high dominant gene effect was observed for leaf length and midrib width. The directions of dominance were positive for yield, stalk height, leaf weight, leaf length, leaf width, midrib weight, midrib width and reducing sugar content, and the negative was days to flower. The estimates of effective genes were 1 for leaves per plant, 2 for stalk height, days to flower and leaf shape. 3 to 6 for leaf length, leaf width, leaf weight and midrib weight.

The genetic analysis was caried out on the boiling-off ratio of cocoon layer, and the amounts of sericin and fibroin in the F1 generation from the diallel crosses of silkworm. The result obtained were as follows : 1. Boiling-off ratio and the amounts of sericin adn fibroin in male and female were over dominqnce and partial dominance, respectively. 2. The additive effect of gene was higher then the dominance effect in the amounts of sericin and fibroin in male and female, and in boiling off ration in female. 3. The direction of dominance in the amounts of sericin and fibroin in male and female was positive and that in boiling off ratio negative. 4. The effect of three characters on the combining ability was significant and their general combining ability was higher than the specific combining ability.

Partial dominance was exhibited by flowering(heading), panicle length, panicle numbers, $F_1$ag leaf length, 1000 kernel weight in $F_1$ and $F_2$ hybrids by 7 \times 7 and 5 \times 5 diallel crosses. Over dominance was exhibited by culm length, flag leaf width, appearance degree of panicle in $F_1$ generation of the crosses, and also over dominance was exhibited by kernel weight in $F_2$ generation of the crosses.

In this experiment, gene actions were analysized for seven barley parents in order to obtain basic information on their genetic improvement by diallel crosses. The results obtained were summarized as follows. In analysis of variance, additive, dominant, maternal and reciprocal effects were observed significantly for culm length, tiller number, number of spiked per plant, culm diameter, awn length, leaf width, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight. Over-dominance was shown by Vr-Wr graphic analysis in five characters such as tiller number, number of spikes per plant, length of flag leaf, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight, and partial dominance in four characters such as culm length, culm diameter, awn length, and leaf width. Component of genetic varience analyzed for four characters such as culm diameter, awn length, length of flag leaf, and leaf width showed that additive effects were higher than dominant effects. Culm length, tiller number, number of spikes per plant, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight showed dominant effects higher than additive effects. The narrow-sense heritability for awn length, leaf width, and number of grains per spike showed high values as more than 0.62, while broad-sense heritability for culm length, number of spikes per plant, culm diameter, awn length, leaf width, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight showed high values as more than 0.65.

The results obtained were summarized as follows : In F1 generation, over-dominance was shown by Vr-Wr graphic analysis in four characters such as cocoon length in female, bave weight, cocoon weight and boiling off ratio in both male and female, and partial dominance in four characters such as fifth instar period, cocoon layer weight, cocoon layer ratio and bave length. In F2 generation, the partial dominance in all characters were obtained. Components of genetic variance analyzed for five characters such as fifth instar period, cocoon width, cocoon layer weight, cocoon layer ratio and fibroin contents in F1 generation, and for four characters such as cocoon width, cocoon layer weight, cocoon layer ratio and frbroin contents in F2 generation showed that addition effects were higher than dominant effects.

A set of 21 crosses of F1 generation by diallel crosses from seven parent silkworm, Bombyx mori L. were used as materials to estimate genetic parameters such as gene action and combining ability. Experiments were conducted in 1985, and three characters, which are weight of cocoon, weight of cocoon layer and ration of cocoon layer, were observed. The data were analyzed for each character by Jinks', Hayman's and Griffing's methods. The result obtained are summarized as follows : 1. In Vr-Wr graphical analyses, weight of cocoon was found to be inherited in over dominance, and weight of cocoon layer and ration of cocoon layer were observed as partial dominance. 2. Estimate of additive component of variance(D) was greater than those of dominance component of variance(H) for weight of cocoon layer and ratio of cocoon layer, and positive values of F were observed for all characters. 3. Mean squares of general combining ability were higher than those of specific combining ability. 4. Variety Jam 107 was expressed as the highest GCA effects for three characters, and high SCA effects for all characters were observed in combinations of 113 $\times$Jung 14 and Jam 107 $\times$Jung 14.
