  • This paper is concerned with the natural periods of ambient vibration and eigenvalue analysis. Ambient vibration tests were conducted to four bearing-wall reinforced concrete buildings ranging from twelve to nineteen stories. The performance of modeling in eigenvalue analysis was investigated using consideration of rigidity out of the plane in the slab and the non-structural bearing wall. Measured natural period was also compared with the value by the KBC2005. Natural period of the short direction in eigenvalue analysis is well fitted with the measured one. In the other hand, Natural period of the long direction in eigenvalue analysis is slightly more overestimated than the measured one. Natural period of the long direction in eigenvalue analysis was found to be enhanced by considering the effect of the stiffness out of the plane of the slab and non-structural wall in the structural modeling.

  • The purposes of the study were (1) to analysis Korean traditional wedding costumes through families's wedding photographs from 1940 to 2000, and (2) to categorize bride and groom's costumes according to the wedding time by means of a time series analysis. (3) to find out functional relationship among changes in garment types, garment details, embellishments and colors. The study was a documentary research and data were collected from 390 family wedding photographs by a convenient sampling. The data were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative method and the statistic used were frequency, content analysis, and cross-tab analysis. The results were as follows; First, the garments of wedding couples were categorized into 5 period according to garment's characteristics. 1. The period between 1940~1959 : Korean traditional wedding costumes and western style wedding costumes were existed together in Korean wedding culture. 2. The period between 1960~early 1970's western wedding costumes were dominated. 3. The period of late 1970's : wedding couple's costumes became more formal and decorative. 4. The period of 1980's : introducing see-through materials for brides and tuxedo suit for grooms. 5. The period of 1990's : extravagance in shapes and exposure. Second, there were significant relationships among brides's dress types and neckline, glove length, embellishments and transparency of materials and among groom's garment types and necktie types, types and color of shirts, vests. Third, the time series analysis of bride and groom's outfit produced 5 schematic expressions of wedding outfits according to the period.

  • The natural period calculation equations specified in the current building code are empirical formulas that depend on height and material type of the structure. Building with the upper wall and lower frame type is a unique structure which composed of two different structural system This type of structure needs either the deep transfer girder or the thick transfer plate that brings the sudden change of stiffness and mass. Therefore the natural period equations recommended by the current code can not be applied directly. In this study the natural period of building with typical plan obtained by dynamci analysis is compared with that of various codes. Ad approximate estimation equation for the natural period of building with the upper wall and lower frame type obtained by regression analysis is recommended. by the current code can not be applied directly. In this study the natural period of building with typical plan obtained by dynamic analysis is compared with that of various codes, And approximate estimation equation for the natural period of building with the upper wall and lower frame type obtained by regression analysis is recommended.

  • This study conducts an analysis to verify an existence of co-movement among the exchange rates of Yuan-Dollar, Yen-Dollar and Won-Dollar by using time series data. An analysis period is divided into two periods. Therefore the first analysis period is from Dec. 17, 1997 to Jul. 21th. 20, 2005 and the second analysis period is from Jul. 25th, 2005 to Nov. 20th. 2009. This paper uses VAR model and daily data of exchange rates during the period. According to the result of an empirical analysis, yuan-dollar exchange rate has affected by th other variables ; yen-dollar exchange rate. It can be proved by result of an impulse response test and variance decomposition test in the second period. Therefore the won-dollar, yen-dollar, and Yen-dollar exchange rate has been influenced each other and the relationship will be maintained.

  • We consider a GI/M/1 queue with vacations such that the server works with different rate rather than completely stops working during a vacation period. We derive the transform of the joint distribution of the length of a busy period, the number of customers served during the busy period, and the length of the subsequent idle period.

  • In this paper, an evaluation of a product replacement ratio of irreparable items to the normally working ones is performed with a view to a warranty analysis. It is demonstrated that the replacement ratio during the warranty period can be estimated from the field data collected during the period of operation, and one can provide the management with a useful information regarding the appropriateness for the warranty period, which is vital to the product marketing strategy. Although warranty data usually take the form of multiply right censored interval data, the conventional reliability analysis method seems to be good enough as in this case. More sophisticated method such as warranty cost analysis and 2-dimensional warranty analysis is yet desired.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between patients' characteristics and the beginning period of improvement, as well as contribute to the efficient management of Bell's palsy patients. Methods : The subjects were 94 patients with Bell's palsy. This study was carried out through the use of an administrative database that included patients' characteristics and clinical information. The analysis of the beginning period of improvement by gender, hypertension, diabetes, drinking history, smoking history and facial palsy history was conducted by independent sample t-test. The analysis of the beginning period of improvement by age, House-Brackmann grade, Yanagihara scale and period receiving Korean medical treatment was conducted by Pearson's correlation analysis. Further analysis of the beginning period of improvement by associated symptoms and seasons was conducted by one-way analysis of variance. Results : 1. Significant correlations were not found between the beginning period of improvement and gender, age, season, smoking history, drinking history, facial palsy history, House-Brackmann grade, Yanagihara scale, hypertension, diabetes or associated symptoms. 2. There was significant correlation between the period of receiving Korean medical treatment and the beginning period of improvement. Conclusion : In this study, the earlier that patients received korean medicine treatment after onset, the earlier that the beginning period of improvement could be seen. Therefore, for the efficient management of facial paralysis patients, it is expected to help secure a baseline.

  • In this study, it was performed that the seismic response analysis using long period earthquake wave and short period earthquake wave on dynamic behavior of concrete gravity dam. The results showed that if the same magnitude earthquake waves acted on concrete dam, the maximum displacement and stress at dam crest of long period wave(0funato wave) were about 30 % larger than those of short period wave(Hachinohe wave). And the response acceleration of dam crest was amplified about 5 times in long period earthquake wave and about 3 times in short period earthquake wave.

  • We present a period analysis of the well known $\beta$ Lyrae type eclipsing binary GO Cyg $(P= 0^d .7177)$. Several new times of minimum light, recorded photoelectrically, have been gathered. Analysis of all available eclipse timings of GO Cyg has confirmed a significant period increase with rate of $2.52 {\times} 10^{-10}$ day / cycle, also new period has been estimated. New linear and quadratic ephemerides have been calculated for the system.

  • Discrete-time Queueing models are frequently utilized to analyze the performance of computing and communication systems. The length of busy period is one of important performance measures for such systems. In this paper, we consider the busy period of the Geo/Geo/1/K queue with a single vacation. We derive the moments of the length of the busy (idle) period, the number of customers who arrive and enter the system during the busy (idle) period and the number of customers who arrive but are lost due to no vacancies in the system for both early arrival system (EAS) and late arrival system (LAS). In order to do this, recursive equations for the joint probability generating function of the busy period of the Geo/Geo/1/K queue starting with n, 1 ≤ n ≤ K, customers, the number of customers who arrive and enter the system, and arrive but are lost during that busy period are constructed. Using the result of the busy period analysis, we also numerically study differences of various performance measures between EAS and LAS. This numerical study shows that the performance gap between EAS and LAS increases as the system capacity K decrease, and the arrival rate (probability) approaches the service rate (probability). This performance gap also decreases as the vacation rate (probability) decrease, but it does not shrink to zero.
