Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine effects of health promotion program based on self-efficacy theory on physiological indicators, self-efficacy, grits, and health promotion behavior in community elderly. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pre-post test design was used. The intervention group received the health promotion program based on self-efficacy theory for 8 weeks from October 8 to November 26, 2020. Results: t-test showed that systolic blood pressure (t=-2.12, p=.040), self-efficacy (t=3.78, p<.001), grit (t=3.75, p<.001) and health promotion behavior (t=2.89, p=.002) were significant differences between the two groups. In other hands BMI (t=-1.26, p=.213), diastolic pressure (t=-1.07, p=.287), total cholesterol (t=-1.67, p=.102), LDL-cholesterol (t=-0.76, p=.451), HDL-cholesterol (t=-0.57, p=.567) and triglyceride (t=-1.76, p=.094) were no significant difference between two groups. Conclusions: The health promotion program based on self-efficacy theory was found to be an effective nursing intervention program in improving physiological indicators, self-efficacy, grit and health promotion behaviors of community elderly.
This study was conducted to find out the relationship between dental anxiety and self-efficacy, physical and psychological condition and expected self-efficacy. The objective of this study was also to provide foundation for appropriate dental hygiene intervention model for scaling. In this study, anxiety reactions were measured among 178 patients, who made appointment with dental hygienists for scaling between May and July, 2009. The analysis was done in SPSS 12.0 statistical program which confirmed Cranach's alpha value. Technical statistics, t-test and One-way ANOVA, correlation and regression were also used. The result of the study is following: While dental hygienist conducts scaling, the dental anxiety was each measured in following categories: Thus male, age between 40 and 50, single, high school graduated and unemployed were measured highest dental anxiety among various groups. Dental Fear Scale demonstrated the validity of relationship between dental anxiety and self efficacy. The correlation was equated as r=-.409(p<0.01). In the other words, the higher self efficacy, the lower dental anxiety. The relationship between dental anxiety and physical and physiological condition was relevant. Physical condition was r=-.229(p<0.01) And then, the psychological condition was r=-.299(p<0.01). Thus, better physical and physiological condition results in less dental anxiety. The relationship between expected Self-efficacy and dental anxiety is also valid. The dental anxiety after performance accomplishment is r=-.239(p<0.01), after vicarious experience is r=-.195(p<0.01), after verbal persuasion is r=-.152(p<0.05), after recognition of physiological state is r=-.410(p<0.01). In conclusion, sex, age, marital status, education level, employment, physical condition, physiological condition are all relevant to dental anxiety(F=8.834). Both independent and dependent variables p<.05 have 37.5% persuasiveness.

Moringa oleifera leaves, seeds, pods, roots, and flowers have been widely used for their medicinal and nutritional properties. Many studies have been conducted on the chemical composition and effectiveness of M. oleifera. In fact, almost every part of M. oleifera has been found to contain essential nutrients and medicinal value. Especially, the leaves of M. oleifera are known to have various nutrients and diverse efficacy. Several studies have assessed the potential toxicity of the leaves when prepared by various methods. The results showed that the M. oleifera leaves when prepared differently were safe in locally used doses and amounts. Moreover, M. oleifera is known to contain various physiological efficacies, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and anticancer effects and so on. In the latest research, many attempts are being made to utilize the diverse effects of M. oleifera. This research seems to be bringing a promising view of M. oleifera as a therapeutic functional food for various diseases.
Purpose: This study was to determine the effects of a combined exercise program and telephone counseling in obese middle-aged women. The study also attempted to measure the effects of the program on physiological functions, self-efficacy and depression. Method: This research employed a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The experimental group consisted of 29 obese middle-aged women, and the control group of 30 women. The subjects in the experimental group participated in a combined exercises program and telephone counseling for 12 weeks. Results: After performing the program for 12 weeks, BMI (p=.000), percent body fat (p<.007), TC (p=.026), TG (p=.035) and depression (p=.012) in the experimental group decreased significantly compared with the control group. Self-efficacy (p=.000) in the experimental group increased significantly compared with the control group after the program. Conclusion: From these findings, it was confirmed that a combined exercises program and telephone counseling for obese middle-aged women can increase self-efficacy and decrease BMI, percent body fat, total cholesterol, triglyceride and depression. Therefore, this program can be utilized for various population groups including women, and further researches are required on programs for men.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of a self-control promotion program on self-efficacy, self-care and physiological indicators of patients with diabetes who live in local communities. Method: This research was designed using a nonequivalent control group pre, posttest study. Data were collected from December, 2008 through March, 2009. The participants of the study consisted of 93 patients with diabetes who live in a local community. A self-control promotion program was provided for the experimental group for 12 weeks. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires and direct measurements, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, and repeated measures ANOVA. Results: There were significant differences in self-efficacy and self-care between the experimental and control groups. However, there were no significant differences in physiological indicators such as fasting blood sugar, HbA1C, BMI, and BP between the two groups. Conclusion: The results indicate that the self-control promotion program was effective in promoting self-efficacy and self-care, which are crucial factors in controlling diabetes mellitus. However, a longitudinal study needs to be done to confirm the effects of self-control promotion programs on long-term glucose control.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of hypertension health school program performed in a public health center located in Y-si. Most interesting were the effects on hypertension-related knowledge, self-efficacy, self-care behavior and physiological parameters for hypertensive patients. Methods: Nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was employed. 45 patients with hypertension living in Y-si were assigned into an experimental group (n=23) or a control group (n=22). Experimental group was provided with the 8-weeks hypertension health school program from April 7 to May 20 in 2014. Data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 21.0 using descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, Fisher's exact test and t-test. Results: The result indicated a significant difference between the experimental group and control group in the scores of hypertension-related knowledge (t=-10.97, p<.001), self-efficacy (t=-4.56, p<.001), self-care behavior (t=-407, p<.001), physiological parameters including systolic blood pressure (t=2.18, p=.032) and diastolic blood pressure (t=2.74, p=.008) and cholesterol levels (t=5.04, p<.001). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the hypertension self-help group program has a significant effect on the change of hypertension-related knowledge, self-efficacy and self-care behavior for hypertensive patients.

Metabolomics is an emerging technology which makes it possible to evaluate change of biological system in response to the physiological, environmental alterations. It has advantages in the simplicity and sensitivity to analyze metabolites since the researcher can use cutting edge instrument, such as mass spectrometry and simple sample preparation method compared to genomics or proteomics. Nowadays this technology has been tried in pharmaceutical area to investigate toxicity and efficacy of drug candidates and drugs in preclinical test. The metabolomic applications on the pharmaceutics for early prediction on toxicity and efficacy are described in this presentation. The multivariate analysis to get metabolic fingerprinting and its relations with the physiological changes are investigated with several drugs. Feasibility of metabolomic application for pharmaceutical area would be suggested from those researches.
This article introduces the conceptual framework of self-efficacy and reviewes recent research articles which are related to development of self-efficacy in children. Self-efficacy means personal judgement about one's capability to organize his behavior in a specific situation. Perceived efficacy can have diverse effects on behavior, thought patterns and affective arousal. People acquire their efficacy information from their performance accomplishments, vicarious experiences, verbal persuasion and their physiological states. In this paper, I argue that two factors, psychological and environmental factor, contribute to the development of children's self-efficacy. Specifically reward, attributional feedback, social comparision and goal setting are classified to psychological factor and home environment, school environment and social environment belong to environmental factor. Since not many studies have been done in this area, in this paper I also suggest some directions for future research.
Purpose: This study explored the feasibility of a 12 week self-efficacy based exercise intervention for overweight and obese college students. Method: A repeated measure, 4-group randomized controlled design was used. Students were recruited from two universities. in Seoul. Korea using: (1) flyers either on the campus bulletin boards or in campus restrooms: (2) advertisement on campus e-board: and (3) self-referral. Inclusion criteria were: (1) Korean college students aged 18 to 29: (2) BMI >23: (3) viscerally obese: and (4) accessible to a phone and a computer. Participants completed three self-reported questionnaires: socio-demographic questionnaire (at the baseline), Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale (at the baseline and $12^{th}$ week), and Physical Fitness sub-subscale (at the baseline and $12^{th}$ week). Additionally. physiological data (height, weight, blood pressure) were collected at the baseline and $12^{th}$ week. Descriptive statistics and a two-way mixed ANOVA were performed using SPSS12.0. Results: No significant group difference was observed. However. students with increased exercise self-efficacy during the program showed better physical fitness in the $12^{th}$ week. When students' physical fitness was enhanced. the physiological factors were improved. Conclusions: Self-efficacy based exercise intervention may be applicable and acceptable to the college students. It is necessary to conduct a replicated study with a larger sample and an elongated intervention period.
