In this study, the 10 stages stacked module was designed by increasing the number of unit cells in the membrane capacitive deionization(MCDI) process. The aminated polysulfone and sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) were synthesized and coated on porous carbon electrode by casting method. The salt removal efficiency was measured for the 10 stage stacked module under the operation conditions of adsorption voltage and time, desorption voltage and time, flow rate and concentration of feed water, and di-valent solutions including $CaSO_4$, $MgCl_2$ and tap water. Typically, when 100 mg/L of NaCl as the feed was used, the salt removal efficiency was 98.3% at a flow rate of 100 mL/min, the adsorption condition of 1.2 V/3 min and desorption condition of -0.5 V/5 min.
In this study, the facilitated transport membranes, poly (ether ether)ketone (SPEEK)-Ag salts layers on top of polycarbonate supports membrane, were prepared and tested for the separation of propylene/propane. SPEEK was synthesised using PEEK and $H_2SO_4$. Experiments were porformed at room temperature and feed pressures up to 30 psig. The SPEEK-Ag salt membranes showed good selectivity for propane over propylene. With increasing the concentration of SPEEK in MeOH, 5~20 wt%, the thickness of SPEEK membrane on the polycarbonate increased. The selectivity and permeance of SPEKK-Ag membrane for propylene/propane were changed by membrane thickness and concentration of Ag salts.

In this work, sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) composite membranes including strontium zirconate (SrZrO3) were fabricated by the electrospinning method. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopic analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis were used to identify the chemical structure and the crystallinity of SrZrO3 and electrospun composite membranes. The thermal stability of the pure SPEEK and SPEEK/SrZrO3 electrospun composite membranes were investigated by using thermogravimetric analysis. The physicochemical properties and proton conductivity were enhanced with the addition of different weight ratio of SrZrO3 nanofiller (2, 4 and 6 wt%) in SPEEK polymer. The optimized SPEEK/SrZrO3-4 electrospun membrane containing 4 wt% of SrZrO3 showed a high proton conductivity compared to other electrospun SPEEK/SrZrO3 composite membranes. The results indicate that electrospun composite membranes incorporating these perovskite nanofillers should be explored as potential candidates for use in proton exchange membrane fuel cells.
In this study, Polysulfone (PSf) and polyetherimide (PEI) as the anion exchange polymers were aminated in the different ratio whereas the polyether ether ketone (PEEK) as the cation exchange polymer was sulfonated. The bipolar membranes of SPEEK (sulfonated PEEK)/APSf (aminated PSf) and SPEEK/APEI (aminated PEI) were prepared by the double-casting method. The surfaces of bipolar membranes were fluorinated in accordance with the amination ratio and applied to produce the hypochlorite. As the amination increased, the hypochlorite concentration is also increased. Typically, for SPEEK/APSf 3 : 1 membrane, the produced hypochlorite concentration was 61.0 ppm and its durability was 220 min for the non-fluorinated membrane while for the fluorinated membrane, the concentration of 58.6 ppm and its durability lasted 570 min. Also for SPEEK/APEI 3 : 1 membrane, the hypochlorite concentrations of 60.1 ppm and 58.3 ppm for before- and after-fluorination, respectively were observed whereas the durability was remarkably developed from 150 min to 440 min. Therefore, the surface fluorination takes an important role for the development of the membrane durability.

Branched sulfonated poly(ether sulfone-ketone) copolymer was prepared with bisphenol A, 4,4-difluorobenzophenone, sulfonated chlorophenyl sulfone (40mole% of bisphenol A) and THPE (1,1,1-tris-p-hydroxyphenylethane). THPE was used 0.4 mol% of bisphenol A to synthesize branched copolymers. Organic-inorganic nano composite membranes were prepared with copolymer and a series of $SiO_2$ nanoparticles (20 nm, 4, 7 and 10 wt%). The composite membranes were cast from dimethylsulfoxide solutions. The films were converted from the salt to acid forms with dilute hydrochloric acid. The membranes were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Sorption experiments were conducted to observe the interaction of sulfonated polymers with water and methanol. Branched copolymer and nano composite membranes exhibit proton conductivities from $1.12{\times}10^{-3}$ to $6.04{\times}10^{-3}\;S/cm^2$, water uptake from 52.9 to 62.4%, IEC from 0.81 to 1.21 meq/g and methanol diffusion coefficients from $1.2{\times}10^{-7}$ to $1.5{\times}10^{-7}\;cm^2/S$.

특히 PPO(poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide))로 만들어진 분리막은 내산화성이 우수하고 내구성이 뛰어나다고 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 PPO를 유기 금속 반응을 이용하여 carboxylation시키고 이 carboxylated PPO로 역삼투막을 제조하여 투과특성을 조사하였다.
Direct methanol fuel cells(DMFCs) are receiving significant attention in the portable power source and electric vehicular transportation because of its high energy efficiency as liquid fuel, low cost, and no requirement of fuel reforming process. In this study, we synthesized the Sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) to evaluate the possibility of use as a proton exchange membrane for DMFC. And poly(vinylidienedifluoride) (PVDF) was used to increase proton conductivity in SPEEK and simultaneously to prevent methanol transport through the cross linked membrane. Furthermore, in order to improve the electrical composite properties for DMFC applications.
