The Influence of Psychological Capital, The Effects of Emotional Intelligence and Positive Mood (심리자본의 영향력과 감성지능 및 긍정적 기분의 효과)

  • This study aims to analyze the influence of psychological capital on organizational performance and to verify the moderating effect of emotional intelligence and the mediating effect of positive mood. The results of an analysis are as follows: First, the influence of psychological capital is higher in job satisfaction than in OCB. Second, the moderating effect of emotional intelligence is recognized in psychological capital and organizational performance. In particular, job satisfaction shows a higher moderating effect than OCB does. Third, no direct effect of psychological capital on OCB is recognized while an indirect effect of psychological capital on OCB through positive mood is recognized. Thus, it is judged that the results of this study would be effectively utilized as a means of motivation for growing individuals and achieving organizations'goals by emphasizing the importance of psychological capital and psychology and systematically managing psychological phenomena according to individual differences.

The Effect of Emotional Labor on Job Satisfaction in Dental Hygienists: Focusing on the Mediation Effects of Positive Psychological Capital

  • Background: This study investigated the effects of positive psychological capital on the relationship between emotional labor and job satisfaction among dental hygienists. Methods: Data were collected from 296 dental hygienists working at clinical sites in Korea between July 25 and August 15, 2022. Participants were surveyed using structured questionnaires. Statistical analysis was performed using an independent t-test, ANOVA, descriptive statistics, and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 21.0. The mediating effect of positive psychological capital on the relationship between emotional labor and job satisfaction was tested using Baron and Kenny's 3-step hierarchical regression analysis. Results: Emotional labor was negatively correlated with positive psychological capital (r=-0.148, p=0.011) and job satisfaction (r=-0.214, p<0.001). Positive psychological capital had a positive correlation with job satisfaction (r=0.441, p<0.001). In addition, the positive psychological capital, had a partial mediating effect (z=-2.472, p=0.013) on the relationship between emotional labor and job satisfaction. Conclusion: Attitudes that reduce emotional labor, which adversely affects job satisfaction, and bolster positive psychological capital are needed.

The Effect of Child Care Teachers' Positive Psychological Capital on Organizational Commitment: Mediating Effect of Job Stress (보육교사의 긍정심리자본이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향: 직무스트레스의 매개효과)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to reduce job stress among child care teachers and enhance the quality of child care by examining the mediating effect of job stress in the relationship between positive psychological capital and the organizational commitment of child care teachers. Methods: The subjects of this study were 560 childcare teachers in Gyeonggi-do, and 465 questionnaires were ultimately analyzed. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and structural equation model were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. Results: As a result of the study, first, positive psychological capital of childcare teachers showed a positive correlation with organizational commitment. Additionally, both positive psychological capital and organizational commitment showed a negative correlation with job stress. Second, the direct effect of childcare teachers' positive psychological capital affecting organizational commitment was significant, and the direct effect of job stress affecting organizational commitment was also significant. It was found that positive psychological capital of childcare teachers significantly influenced organizational commitment through job stress. Conclusion/Implications: Therefore, providing an educational program to help childcare teachers enhance their positive psychological capital and foster commitment to the organization can significantly contribute to the improvement of childcare quality.

Influences of Burnout, Emotional labor, and Positive Psychological Capital on Job Satisfaction of Nurses (간호사의 소진, 감정노동 및 긍정심리자본이 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand job satisfaction, burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital and to identify the factors that influence on job satisfaction in the hospital nurses. Methods: This study was conducted through a survey of 274 nurses at two hospitals in the D city, Korea. Data were collected in September 7 to September 23, 2016 using structured questionnaires which included general characteristics, burnout, job satisfaction, positive psychological capital and emotional labor. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression test with SPSS/WIN 22.0. Results: The score for job satisfaction was 3.03 out of 5. Job satisfaction was significantly correlated with burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital. The factors influencing job satisfaction were age, burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital. The predict variables accounted for 37.5% of job satisfaction. Conclusion: The results of this study show that factors influencing job satisfaction are burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital. Therefore, it is necessary to develop intervention programs to improve job satisfaction of nurses for emotional labor reduction and positive psychological capital improvement.

The impact of leaders' communication styles on job performance and organizational citizenship behaivor: Focusing on the mediation effect of positive psychological capital (리더의 의사소통 유형이 직무성과와 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향: 긍정심리자본의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The present study investigates how communication styles of leaders affect job performance and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) through followers' positive psychological capital. While previous studies have examined the relationships among positive psychological capital, job performance, and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), much less known about the effect of communication styles of leaders. This study divides leaders' communication patterns into dogmatic communication and sociable communication. To verify hypotheses of this study, we used data collected from the fashion companies. 191 surveys were distributed and 142 responses were used for the analysis. Empirical results show that sociable communication of leaders has positive impact on followers' positive psychological capital, job performance, and OCB, while dogmatic communication style didn' t have a significant impact on positive psychological capital, job performance, and OCB. In addition, job performance is influenced strongly by followers' positive psychological capital than OCB in sociable communication condition. The results of this study suggest implications for understanding the important role of communication styles on the relationship between followers' psychological mind-set and job behavior. Future studies are required to solve the problems on the inconsistent results between dogmatic communication and followers' job attitudes. The theoretical and managerial contributions and the limitations were discussed.

Middle-aged Female Workers' Predictors of Psychological Well-Being Based on the Relationship between Positive Psychological Capital, Job Stress, and Job Satisfaction (직장 중년여성의 긍정심리자본, 직무 스트레스와 직무만족이 심리적 웰빙에 미치는 예측 요인)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the predictors of psychological well-being in middle-aged female workers by examining the relationship between positive psychological capital, job stress, and job satisfaction. Methods: Data were collected from 145 middle-aged female workers. A self-report questionnaire was used to assess the level of positive psychological capital, job stress, job satisfaction, and psychological well-being. SPSS/WIN version 23.0 was employed for data analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: The most significant predictors of psychological well-being in the participants were positive psychological capital, living standards, and hobby. These explained 39% of the variance for psychological well-being. Conclusion: We found that positive psychological capital, living standards, and hobby influenced the participants' psychological well-being. Therefore, to improve middle-aged female workers' psychological well-being, developing a program based on positive psychological capital management is necessary.

The Effect of compassion on Job Crafting : Mediating effect of positive psychological capital and moderating effect of Deep Acting (컴페션(compassion)이 잡 크래프팅(Job Crafting)에 미치는 영향 : 긍정심리자본의 매개효과와 심층행동의 조절효과)

  • This study collected 270 defectors working in domestic companies as a sample. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of compassion experienced by defectors on positive psychological capital in the organization and secondly to demonstrate the effect of positive psychological capital formed through compassion on job crafting. Third, the purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of positive psychological capital in the relationship between compassion and job crafting, and finally to demonstrate the moderating effect of deep acting in the relationship between compassion and positive psychological capital. As a result of this study, it is proved that the compassion experienced by the defectors has a positive effect on positive psychological capital, and positive psychological capital has a positive effect on job crafting. In addition, the mediating effect of positive psychological capital and the moderating effect of deep acting were also proved to be significant and all hypotheses were supported. This study suggests that it provides motivation for positive emotions and active work design to defectors who need sympathetic care while working for Korean companies.

Influences of Personality and Positive Psychological Capital on Academic Resilience of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 인성, 긍정심리자본이 학업탄력성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality, positive psychological capital, and academic resilience of nursing students and to identify the factors affecting academic resilience of nursing students. Data were collected from 199 nursing students in their first and second year at C nursing college in M-gun, J-do, and a survey was conducted from July 10 to July 28, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearsons correlation coefficient, Stepwise multiple regression analysis was conducted. Personality had a significant positive correlation with positive psychological capital(r=.62, p<.001) and academic resilience(r=.68, p<.001), and positive psychological capital had a significant positive correlation with academic resilience(r=.79, p<.001). The major factor influencing the academic resilience of nursing students was positive psychological capital, followed by personality, interpersonal relationship, and college life satisfaction, and their total explanatory power was 72% (F=102.85, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop an educational program that can increase positive psychological capital in order to strengthen the academic resilience of nursing students, and efforts should be made to introduce and manage it in the nursing curriculum.

The Influence of Violent Experiences and Positive Psychological Capital on Burnout of Psychiatric Ward Nurses (정신과 병동 간호사의 폭력경험과 긍정심리자본이 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships among violent experiences, positive psychological capital, and burnout, as well as to clarify the factors that affect psychiatric ward nurses' burnout. Methods: A descriptive research design was used. Participants were 213 psychiatric ward nurses recruited from twelve psychiatric hospitals. A structured self-report questionnaire was used to measure the study variables, and data were analyzed with the SPSS 24.0 program using descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, a one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analyses. Results: Burnout positively correlated with violent experiences (r=.14, p=.041), but negatively correlated with positive psychological capital (r=-.73, p<.001). Positive psychological capital was a significant variable for the burnout of psychiatric ward nurses (${\beta}=-.71$, p<.001). Conclusions: The study findings indicate a need to reinforce positive psychological capital for preventing and alleviating burnout of psychiatric ward nurses.

The Effects of Temperament, Social Support and Emotion Regulation on the Positive Psychological Capital of Middle School Students (중학생의 기질, 사회적지지 및 정서조절능력이 긍정심리자본에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: This study examined the influences of general characteristics, temperament, social support, and emotional regulation on the positive psychological capital of adolescents. The data were collected from 672 middle school students living in Gwangju. Methods: Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analyses and hierarchical regression analyses. Results: Temperament best explained positive psychological capital. In terms of individual factors, self-emotion regulation had the greatest effect on positive psychological capital, followed by friend support, persistence temperament, others emotion regulation, academic achievement, harm avoidance temperament, gender, and family support, in that order. Conclusion: The results for the effects of temperament, social support and emotion regulation on adolescent's positive psychological capital highlights the important roles played by the temperament, social support, and emotion regulation in improving an adolescent's positive psychological capital. The study contributes to the literature by proving fundamental insights into an adolescent's psychological strengths and higher quality of life.
