  • In this paper, a low price ultrasound image processing system is developed using DSP and PC. Ultrasound for image is generated by the 32-channel transducer. Ultrasound image is captured by DSP instead of the private image grabber board. Display of image and image processing algorithms are performed by PC. The image processing algorithms based on GUI are realized by software. So users without knowledge of image processing can perform the image enhancement more easily.

  • Electrical discharge machining uses thermal energy from electrical discharge, while wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) technology is widely used in conductive material machining. This paper proposes a method for evaluating the characteristics of wires in WEDM. In order to evaluate the wire processing performance, processing speed and roughness, straightness, corner processing have been assessed with precision experiment equipment and image processing including Laplacian filtering with various threshold levels.

Boron nitride based processing aids

  • Boron nitride is a new processing aid that is capable of eliminating gross melt fracture in several polymer processing operations. Its combinations with other processing aids i.e. fluoropolymers offer additional possibilities of obtaining enhanced processing aids that may take the processes to rates not realized before. A variety of different such combinations are discussed in this paper. The essential componenets are (1) boron nitride capable of eliminating gross melt fracture and (2) suitable lubricant capable of eliminating surface melt fracture such as stearates for the polyolefin processing and polyethylenes for the processing of fluoropolymers.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근에 개발된 위성 데이터 후처리 시스템의 동향에 대해 기술 하고자 한다. 위성 데이터 후처리 시스템은 위성의 텔레메트리를 분석하고 위성의 상태를 파악하는데 사용되는 시스템으로 빠른 처리속도, 데이터 도시화, 사용의 용이성, 그리고 범용성의 요구사항을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 요구사항을 만족시키기 위해 여러 위성 데이터 후처리 시스템이 어떻게 설계되고 구현되었는지를 살펴본다.

  • High-resolution satellite image processing software should be able to ensure accurate, fast, compact data processing in offline or online environment. In this paper, component software for high-resolution satellite image processing is developed using OpenGIS components and real-time data processing architecture. The developed component software is composed of three major packages, which are data provide package, user interface package, and fast data processing package. The data provider package encodes and decodes diverse image/vector data formats and give identical data access methods to developers. The user interface package supports menus, toolbars, dialogs, and events to use easier. The fast data processing package follows the OpenGIS's data processing standards, which can deal with several processors as components with standard procedural functionalities.

Routing Techniques for Data Aggregation in Sensor Networks

  • GR-tree and query aggregation techniques have been proposed for spatial query processing in conventional spatial query processing for wireless sensor networks. Although these spatial query processing techniques consider spatial query optimization, time query optimization is not taken into consideration. The index reorganization cost and communication cost for the parent sensor nodes increase the energy consumption that is required to ensure the most efficient operation in the wireless sensor node. This paper proposes itinerary-based R-tree (IR-tree) for more efficient spatial-temporal query processing in wireless sensor networks. This paper analyzes the performance of previous studies and IR-tree, which are the conventional spatial query processing techniques, with regard to the accuracy, energy consumption, and query processing time of the query results using the wireless sensor data with Uniform, Gauss, and Skew distributions. This paper proves the superiority of the proposed IR-tree-based space-time indexing.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Black Garlic after Different Thermal Processing Steps

  • This study investigated the physicochemical characteristics of black garlic (BG) after different thermal processing steps. Compared with fresh garlic (FG), the moisture content and pH in BG decreased significantly, while the ash content and browning intensity increased during thermal processing. The total mineral and the free sugar contents were significantly higher than that of the BG2 and BG4 samples, respectively. The free sugar content increased by 16-fold in the BG cloves compared with that of FG, while the amino acid content increased during the first stage of thermal processing, and subsequently decreased. The thiosulfinate content in all samples decreased to during thermal processing. The pyruvic acid content initially increased and then decreased during thermal processing. These results contribute to our understanding of the role of thermal processing in the quality formation of BG.

  • Because data processing systems in recent years are more complicated, main function of the data processing is divided as several sub-functions which are implemented and verified in each subsystem of the data processing system. For the verification of data processing system, many interface tests among subsystems are required and also a lot of simulation systems are demanded. This paper proposes CTHS (Common Test Harness System) for satellite ground segment development which has all of functions for interface test of the data processing system in one PC. Main functions of the CTHS software are data interface, system log generation, and system information display. For the interface test of the data processing system, all of actions of the CTHS are executed by a pre-defined operation scenario which is written by purpose of the data processing system test.

화상처리기술을 이용한 옹이의 검출 (Detection of Knots by Image Processing Technique)

  • Automation of wood processing is strongly required to improve the productivity and quality of wood products in wood industry which is one of the most labor-intensive industries. Classification of surface defects on wood boards such as knots is one of the important steps towards a completely automated wood processing system. In this study the possibility of detection of knots by image processing technique was investigated. Algorithm for the automatic determination of threshold value was developed to enhance the flexibility of image processing system. Two different approaches, grid method and tile method, were developed to enhance the speed in extracting features from images. Grid method showed slightly higher processing speed and tile method proved much more stable in determining threshold values. Tile size of $5{\times}5$ pixels or $6{\times}6$ pixels was found to be proper to get stable results with resonable processing time.
