Psychogenic vomiting (七情吐) is the disease of vomiting due to seven emotions that joy, anger, melancholy, anxiety, grief, fear and terror being the response of the mind to the environmental stimuli. We experienced a 21year-old man who had a psychogenic vomiting due to maladjustment in a military life, and whose condition was improved through oriental medical treatment. We treated the patient with Herbal medications and Giungoroen (至言高論)-wise saying and lofty opinion). Giungoroen is psychological therapy that promotes patient's recognition of disease and will to cure it through conversation. After being treated, the patient showed that symptoms (vomiting, nausea, abdominal discomfort, insomnia, a depressed mood, a feeling of uneasiness) was improved considerably. Tills result suggests that oriental medical treatment bas good effect on psychogenic vomiting due to adjustment disorder.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical application of Korean Traditional treatment to psychogenic torticollis patient who has panic disorder as underlying disease. Methods : Herb medicine used in this study are Heosu-san(Huishou-san) which is previously used for torticollis in several studies, Guibi-tang(Guipi-tang) and Gamiondam-tang(Jiaweiwendan-tang) which are frequently used for phychological disease. Also, physical therapy and aroma therapy were practiced which basically stretches and relaxes muscles around cervical muscles. Self exercise of cervical muscles was carried out during acupuncture. Results : After the comprehensive treatment, the clinical symptoms of the patient were improved. Conclusions : It is suggested that oriental medical treatment are effective in psychogenic torticollis.

Objectives : This study was undertaken in order to establish clinical application of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment by Sasang(4-type) Constitutional medicine. Methods : 1. Dr. Lee Byung-haeng suggested nine applications of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment of Soyang(lesser Yang) type men. 2. The author summarized the application of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment gathered by clinical experience. 3. The author researched the effect of Taegeuk acupuncture on patients after treatment. Results & Conclusions : 1. Taegeuk acupuncture treatment is effective against psychogenic disease. 2. Taegeuk acupuncture treatment is effective against autonomic nervous system dysfunction(For example, blood circulation disorder, etc.) and has an effect on recovery from sub-health. 3. The author conclude that Taegeuk acupuncture treatment for incurable diseases or diseases of unknown etiology needs a further clinical study in the future.

Back pains include pain in one or both side costa portion and lateral abdomen. There are different kinds of flank-related disease such as intercostal nerve pain, chronic gastritis, duodenitis, herpes zoster, pepticulcer, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis and so on. Back pain arises from pathological abnormal activities. On the other hand psychogenic pains are caused by psychogenic factors without pathological abnormal activities. This is similar to KiWol back pain, which resulted from psychogenic factors like stress, anxiety, anger and etc. In oriental medicine, KiWol is the state of depression of Ki, and Shihosogansan used to treat the back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. So, we decided to apply Shihosogansan to a patient who suffered from back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. Therefore the patient treated with Shihosogansan and improved in consciousness symptoms, so we report it for the better treatment.

The author conducted a literature review to better characterize the current state of knowledge regardeding the relationship between psychological and behavioral factors and cardiovascular disease. This review focus on several Problems : hypertension, coronary artery disease such as myocardial infarction and angina pectoris, sudden death, arrhythmia, vasomotor(vasodepressor) syncope, and psychogenic cardiac nondisease. We describe model for understanding the relationship of psychological factors to the disease, review the results of relevant research studies and provide recommendation for further research.

The purpose of this study was to study clinical characteristics of patients complained of tremor and to evaluate availability of oriental medical treatment. This observation was made on 36 cases that were hospitalized in the Semyung University Oriental Medicine Hospital and evaluated tremor using clinical rating tremor scale(CRTS). The ratio of patients were essential tremor(50%), parkinson's disease(13.9%), psychogenic tremor(13.9%), physiologic tremor(11.1%), cerebellar tremor(11.1%). CRTS score of essential tremor patients decreased significantly. Physiologic tremor patients's CRTS score were under 15 points. Every patient's scores decreased. Two patients's score decreased to 0 point. Every patient were treated with Bojungikki-tang-gamibang. CRTS scores of psychogenic tremor patients were various.(4~24 points) Two patients's scores decreased to 0 point. The CRTS scores of three cases among four patients with cerebellar tremor were not changed. Changes of CRTS score between oriental medication group and western-oriental combined medication group were statistically significant. Changes of CRTS score between over 15 points group and under 15 points group were statistically significant. Kejigayongolmoryo-tang was one of the most widely used herbal medication, which was diagnosed as ascendant hyperactivity of liver yang.

Functional dysphonia (FD) is a voice disorder in the absence of structural or neurologic laryngeal pathology. FD is not a single disease but a disease entity. Therefore several voice disorders, which have completely different pathogenesis, are included in this category. The first step of treatment of FD is differentiating patient's voice symptoms from other organic voice disorders and other functional voice problems. Several different treatment modalities are included in the managements of FD. Voice therapy is in charge of the main role in treatment of FD. Medical treatment is also necessary when patient has general problems which would affect voice production. Vocal folds mucosal lesions can cause FD even the lesion is minor. In this case proper surgical intervention helps to improve the symptom of FD. Psychiatric consultation should be considered when the patient has psychological problems.

교근의 편측성 혹은 양측성 비후로 정의되는 이 질환은 원인은 분명치 않으나, 아마도 선천적이고 유전적으로 결정되는 비정상으로 알려져 있고 이외에도 교합과의 관련성, 심리학적 분석등의 관련성도 논의되어 졌다. 감별시는 부위적 특성으로 이하선 질환과의 구별이 요하나 임상적 및 방사선 검사에서 어렵지 않게 진단이 가능하며 치료로는 심미적인 문제로 인해 외과적인 절제가 최선의 치료이고 외과적 절제시에는 하악지의 형태에 대한 평가와 비후된 교근의 부위에 따른 적절한 수술법 선택이 요하며, 아직까지 재발에 관한 보고는 없으나 관찰이 요구된다.

Although most of flutter of palpebranum (part of Tourette's disorder) was though to be functional and psychogenic emotional disorder, author has understood that it was organic disease due to abnormal interaction of Heart Gall bladder according to many clinical experience. The confirmation was accomplished by four examinations, pulse, meridian and it was supplemented by ECG because it was surely to correlate with the wave of ECG. The treatment was done medically by prescirbing mainly O pe san, samsoyeum, zagumhuan and good result was obtained.

Purpose: While most psychiatrists diagnose Hwa-Byung as a chronic psychogenic disorder associated with familial, financial and personality, the purpose of study was to shed light on the nature of Hwa-Byung through pragmatics. Hwa-Byung is characterized as ‘Hwa’ which means fire ‘Byung’ which means disease. This condition cannot be empirically experienced, rather it is represented by suffering internally (in the mind). It also could find an aspect of somatization, and self-diagnosing. Method: As patients themselves diagnose Hwa-Byung, pragmatical approach was taken to analyze the context of the learning through their communication with others. The case examples resulted from in-depth telephone counseling with a client who is housewife with Hwa-Byung over a period of time at the Women's Hot Line. Result: The study showed that the client experienced continuous improper attacks by her husband. She expressed improperness by applying her personal emotions to social-justice reasoning. Conclusion: ‘Hwa’ means lack of mutual intimacy in this research. By expressing this ‘Hwa’, the client would like to recover mutual intimacy with her husband.
