Photochemotherapy(UVA with 8-methoxypsoralen) was given to 30 patients with systemic psoriasis. The results of clearing and long-term(6-month) interval maintenance were reported. Clearing requirements were in general similar to these reported by Melski and Burger. The skin of the 14 patients (46.6%) recovered good skin condition by a once weekly maintenance dose. This result was better than that reported by other authors. 1. During initial treatment period, average number of treatment was 27.3 and average duration treatment was 24.8 weeks. 2. The factors to quit treatment were motion decrease, moving to the remote area, complications, etc. 3. Number of patient who received maintenance treatment was 14. 4. The complications reported from the patients were hyperpigmentation, nausea, headache, pruritis, vomiting, gastritis.

Two porcelain crab species, Aliaporcellana pygmaea (De Man, 1902) and Lissoporcellana nakasonei (Miyake, 1978), are reported here for the first time from Korean waters based on specimens collected from Jeju Island, Korea. The genus Aliaporcellana Nakasone and Miyake, 1969, and Lissoporcellana Haig, 1978 are also reported here for the first time in Korea. Aliaporcellana pygmaea has a wide distribution. The specimen reported here is the most northern record of this species. While, Lissoporcellana nakasonei, associated with anthozoans, was known for distributing range from New Caledonia to southern Japan. As a result, the distribution rage of L. nakasonei is changed to Korea. Now, 12 species of porcelain crabs have been reported in Korean waters.

A solitary fibrous tumor in the pleura has been reported occasionally, but extremely rare in themediastinum. The histogenesis of this tumor has been still in controverse, but recent studies paid attention to it a mesenchymal origin by the immunohistochemical and ultrastructural bases. A few cases, reported in the literature, suggest that the mediastinal solitary fibrous tumor occurs more commonly in adult and shows slightly higher incidence in women. Its aggressive behavior such as recurrence rate and distant metastasis, is more prominant than reported in solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura. No single histologic feature allows an assumption definite prognosis. Surgical resection of this tumor is usually curative although the recurrence or distant metastasis are reported in about half of the patients. This report is a case of solitary fibrous tumor in the mediastinum in a 16-year-old female patient.She underwent surgical resection and her postoperative result was satisfactory.

Cleaning effect is well known mechanism of oxide layer removal in DCEP polarity. It is also known that DCEN has higher heat input efficiency than DCEP in GTAW process. Based on these two renowned arc theories, conventional variable polarity arc for aluminum welding was set up to have minimum DCEP and maximum DCEN duty ratio to achieve the highest heat input efficiency and weldability increase. However, recent several variable polarity GTA research papers reported unexpected result of proportional relationship between DCEP duty ratio and heat input. The authors also observed the same result then suggested combination of tunneling effect and random walk of cathode spot to fill up the gap between experiment and conventional arc theory. In this research, suggested combinational work of tunneling effect and rapid cathode spot changing is applied to another unexpected phenomena of variable polarity aluminum arc welding. From previous research, it is reported that wider oxide removal range, narrower bead width and shallower penetration depth are observed in thin oxide layered aluminum compared to the case of thick oxide. This result was reported for the first time and it was hard to explain the reason at that time therefore the inference by the authors was hardly acceptable. However, the suggested combinational theory successfully explains the result of the previous report in logical way.

Objectives: This overview summarizes the evidence for the effectiveness and safety of complementary therapies for insomnia through systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MAs). Methods: A comprehensive literature search on SRs and MAs for complementary therapies for insomnia was conducted using six databases. Results: This overview included 30 SRs/MAs. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) analysis of insomnia included 383 randomized controlled trials and 31,748 participants. Twenty-four SRs/MAs (80%) out of 30 SRs/MAs reported a positive result, and six SRs/MAs reported a partially positive result. The most frequently used form of acupuncture reported a positive effect in 89.5% (17/19) of SRs/MAs and a superior effect to western medicine, sham/placebo, and no treatment. The lack of protocol registration and the excluded studies list resulted in generally poor methodological and reporting quality in SRs/MAs with AMSTAR 2. Conclusion: This overview confirmed that complementary therapies positively affected the PSQI scores in patients with insomnia. However, better-designed primary studies are needed to strengthen the relevant evidence in the future. A more stringent assessment of multiple systematic reviews 2 must be followed when performing SR and MA.

The specimens collected from five localities during the period from 2004 to 2022 were observed. As a result of this study, Jellyella eburnea was found to be new to the Korean fauna and three membraniporids were reviewed. Two species, Jellyella eburnea and Biflustra grandicella, were redescribed and illustrated with the collected specimens in this study. Membranipora perfragilis from Korea is changed into Biflustra grandicella. Jellyella eburnea is new to the Korean fauna and first reported outside subtropical and tropical seas of the South Pacific and Indo-Pacific Ocean. This fact proves that the seas in Korea are warming. Additionally, Biflustra crenulata reported from the West Sea, South Sea and Jejudo waters of Korea is synonymized into Biflustra okadai. Membranipora irregulata is transferred into the genus Biflustra. Five of Korean membraniporids, Biflustra grandicella, Biflustra irregulata, Biflustra okadai, Jellyella eburnea, and Jellyella tuberculata, are reported in the Korean fauna as a result of this study. The photos taken in the field and by Scanning Electron Microscopy of two species, Biflustra grandicella and Jellyella eburnea, are provided herein.

A congenital agenesis of right diaphragm which is very rare diaphragmatic anomaly was experienced in a 7-year old male patient who was very well until receiving traffic accident on Nov. 1, 1977. Congenital agenesis of diaphragm have been reported only 3 cases in the world, and no one have been reported in Korea. The surgical result of this patient was successful and the review of the literature was made.

Sclerosing hemangiomas of the lung are uncommon benign tumors. Although their histologic appearances are distinct and well-defined, their histogenesis is uncertain. Liebow and Hubbell reported seven cases of unusual pulmonary lesions which they named sclerosing hemangiomas in 1856. Similar cases had previously been reported under different names: Xanthoma, pulmonary histiocytoma, Xanthofibroma. We have experienced 3 cases of sclerosing hemangioma of lung at the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Yonsei University, college of Medicine, Seoul, Korea during a period of December 1985 through September 1988. This report is an early result of surgical treatment of three patients with pulmonary sclerosing hemangioma and their pathologic findings.

The present study on the classification and description of the marine archeogastropods based on the materials which were collected collected during the period from 12th to 17th of July in 1989 at nine localities of the Ullung Island. In addition to the 3fimilies and 8 species of the marine archeogastropods that have been reported, 7 familis and 29 species were reported including the 4 families and 21 unrecorede species from the Ullung Island as a result of this study. Among them, 3 species: Tugali decussata A. Adms 1852, Tuistichotuochus kima Shikawa & Habe 1965, Alcyna ocellata A. Adams, 1860 are found to be new to the fauna of Korea.

The results of analysis of simply supported reinforced concrete slab by special orthotropic plate theory have been reported. This method, however, may be too difficult for some practising engineers. In this paper, the result of analysis of such a plate by means of the beam theory with unit width is reported.
