  • Low Back Pain Prescriptions of Jin, sa tak are peculiar to using Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma(AMR). All low back pain prescriptions which are enlisted in Byunjeunggimoon, Byunjeungrok and Byunjeungokham include AMR. Whereas low back pain prescriptions which is enlisted in Seoksilbirok are 7 of 10. Preexistence of low back pain prescriptions are not necessarily used AMR. But Jin, sa tak who lived at Ming and Ching era presented AMR in low back pain treatment. AMR is able to get rid of dampness between the kidney functional area and umbilicus. The results are as follows : It is made much of the malicious dampness which is in the kidney. There are not used cold but warm and eliminating dampness herbs to invigorate kidney. It shows that Jin, sa tak who was a Taoist used invigorating and warming kidney herbs. Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma is mainly used in treating low back pain from Jin, sa tak. Jin, sa tak shows concrete prognosis to treat a disease.

  • The topic of this study is the translation of "Byun Jeung Rok Vol.VII(辨證錄七卷)". Byun Jeung Rok is a complete book of medicine which was written by Jin Sa tak(陣士鐸) in the early years of the Ching dynasty. Of this, the seventh volume is composed of 6 disease-patterns(病證) and 55 subtopics. Byun Jeung Rok(辨證錄) explains disease-patterns(病證) through the unique and outstanding perspective of the individual author. This topic was studied in hopes of helping later students by showing to the world, through its translation, the author's understanding of disease pattern. The organized characteristics of "Byun Jeung Rok(辨證錄) Vol.VII" is as follows. 1. Byun Jeung Rok based his theory on the traditional paradigm, Yin-Yang and Five phases. and criticized another doctor's misleading opinion by it. 2. Jin Sa tak thought it highly important to distinguish the internal injury and the external wound. and this view was influenced by Ming dynasty's doctors. 3. Jin Sa tak very often used providing nutrition to patients as a way of treatment. because he thought that a variety of diseases are caused by the weakness of organs.

  • Objectives : Among the translations of the verse "Sa-gi is on the upper side, Tak-gi is on the middle side, Cheong-gi is on the under side(邪氣在上, 濁氣在中, 淸氣在下)" in the texts of Miraculous Pivot(靈樞) Nine needles and Twelve sources(九鍼十二原), the meanings of 'Ham-maek(陷脈)' and 'Joong-maek(中脈)' have contradictory versions. Methods : This study will identify the actual meaning of this verse through analysis of the phrase "夫氣之在脈也", followed by examination of the relationship between the meaning of "three-stratum puncture(三刺)" in the chapters Miraculous Pivot Handling needle(官鍼), Miraculous Pivot Jong-si(終始) and the meaning of "刺有三變" of Miraculous Pivot Longevity and character(壽夭剛柔), after which its application in later periods will be discussed. Results : The words 'Sa-gi', 'Tak-gi' and 'Cheong-gi' in the phrase "夫氣之在脈也" of Miraculous Pivot Nine needles and Twelve sources each correspond to the words 'yang pathogens(陽邪)', 'yin pathogens(陰邪)' and 'essence derived from food(穀氣)' of Miraculous Pivot 終始, respectively. Conclusions : The Upper-Middle-Lower of the phrase "夫氣之在脈也" in Nine needles and Twelve sources indicates the three levels of depth, in which 'Sa-gi', 'Tak-gi' and 'Cheong-gi' each dwell. 'Ham-maek' and 'Joong-maek' are categorizations according to the depth of needling.

  • Byun Jeung Ok Ham, written by Jin Sa Tak is composed of four books. This book is estimated of being written after A.D 1688 and composed of internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, dental surgery and so on, total 36 parts of clinical medicine. This is the last book of that four studying about definition on true and false of 15 diseases. 15 subjects follow, tumo, heat, faint, hematemesis and nosebleeding, insanity, great vomiting, great diarrhea, great thirst, scrotal hernea, uterus attacked by heat, dysentery, congestion, great swelling, malaria, attack by cold. This treatise is the last book of four which deals with jin ga translating into korean and studying about medical theories. In every parts, author's unique clinical theory appears affluently and in that periods his study developed a lot in those days' medical methods. • Background: The serratus anterior (SA) muscle prevents scapular winging (SW) by stabilizing the medial border of the scapula during arm movement. The upper trapezius (UT) and lower trapezius (LT) muscles may compensate for the weak SA muscle in individuals with SW during shoulder flexion. However, there is no study to examine whether compensation by UT and LT occurs in individuals with SW. Objects: This study compared the muscle activities of UT, LT, and SA as well as the SA/UT activity ratio between individuals with and without SW during shoulder flexion with load. Methods: This study recruited 27 participants with SW (n = 14) and without SW (n = 13). Electromyography data of the SA, UT, and LT muscles and SA/UT activity ratio were recorded and analyzed during shoulder flexion with 25% load of the maximal shoulder flexion force. Independent t-test was used to compare the UT, LT, and SA muscle activities and SA/UT ratio between the groups with and without SW; statistical significance was set at α of 0.05. Results: SA activity was significantly lesser in the group with SW than in the group without SW. However, there were no significant differences in the UT and LT activities and SA/UT activity ratio between the two groups. Conclusion: The SA activity was lesser in the group with SW than in the group without SW with 25% load of the maximal shoulder flexion force, but there was no compensatory muscle activity of the UT and LT observed. Therefore, further studies are warranted to clarify the compensatory strategy of scapular stabilization in individuals with SW during shoulder flexion under other heavy load conditions.

  • The topic of this study is the translation of "Byun Jeung Rok Vol.XI(辨證錄十一卷)". Byun Jeung Rok is a complete book of medicine which was written by Jin Sa tak(陣士鐸) in the early years of the Ching dynasty. Of this, the eleventh volume is composed of 6 disease-patterns(病證) and 41 subtopics. The organized characteristics of "Byun Jeung Rok(辨證錄) Vol.XI" is as follows. Chapter 1 refers to the symtom, agent and prescription of Hysterorrhea(帶下病). It explains five color Hysterorrhea; white, red, black, yellow and blue. Chapter 2 refers to the symtom, agent and prescription of Oligemic Menoschesis(血枯). It explains two cases of Menoschesis. Chapter 3 refers to the symtom, agent and prescription of Metrorrhagia(血崩). It explains eight cases of Metrorrhagia. Chapter 4 refers to the symtom, agent and prescription of Dysmenorrhea(月經不調). It explains fourteen cases of Dysmenorrhea. Chapter 5 refers to the symtom, agent and prescription of Infertilitas(不姙). It explains ten cases of Infertilitas. Chapter 6 refers to the symtom, agent and prescription of Hyperemesis(惡阻). It explains two cases of Hyperemesis. Obviously the Byun Jeung Rok(辨證錄) is one of the very important texts in the oriental medicine. But there is no exact Korean translation, so I study this six chapters and translate them into Korean. Finally, I hope this thesis can be an aid of development in the knowledge informatization of Korean medicine.

  • One hundred and sixty one Escherichia coli strains isolated from 24 swine (11 swine fed with feedstuffs containing 7.5mg/kg of tetracycline and 13 swine not received antibiotic) were studied for the drug resistance and distribution of R factors. About 42 per cent of E. coli strains isolated from pigs of a herd fed with tetracycline (TC)-containing feeds were resistant to TC, streptomycin(SM), sulfisomidine(SA), ampicillin (AP) and kanamycin (KM), alone or in combination thereof, but none of the swine not receiving antibiotic containing feedstuffs excreted E. coli resistant to these drugs, Among resistant strains, 18.2% were found to be singly resistant to TC, whereas 81.8% were resistant to two or more antibiotics. The most common pattern was the triple resistant to TC, SM and SA(30.3%), and follolwed by double ones to TC and SM(24.2%). About one half of resistant strains carried R factors which were tranferable to the recipients by conjugation. In spite of feeding with feedstuffs containing only TC, high incidences of multiple resistance and R factors were observed in the E. coli isolated from these swine.
