  • We propose a target identification algorithm for visual tracking. Target identification is realized by finding out corresponding line segments to the hypothesized model segments of the target. The key idea is the combination of the Mahalanobis distance with the geometrical relationship between model segments and extracted line segments.

  • This study classifies consumers according to apparel shopping values to find the differences of apparel attributes in accordance to shopping value segments between Korean and Chinese college students. College students from Seoul and Beijing participated in the study and a quota sampling method collected the data. Data from 504 questionnaires is used for the statistical analysis. A factor analysis through, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, ANOVA, and a post-hoc test are conducted. Two factors of apparel shopping values are classified (hedonic shopping values and utilitarian shopping values). Four segments of apparel shopping value were classified (hedonic shopping, low involvement shopping segment, high involvement shopping, and utilitarian shopping). Three factors of apparel attribute are classified (external attributes, internal/aesthetic attributes, and internal/quality attributes). The result indicate that high involvement shopping segments considered all the clothing attributes more importantly than the other three segments. Chinese respondents of hedonic shopping segments and high involvement shopping segments considered advertisements in terms of external attributes, assembly, and fit in terms of internal/quality performance attributes as more important than Koreans. Chinese respondents of low involvement shopping segments also considered assembly and fit in terms of internal/quality performance attributes as more important than Koreans. Korean respondents of utilitarian shopping segments had a special regard for design and color in terms of internal/aesthetic attributes but the Chinese had a special regard for assembly, fit, and ease of maintenance in terms of internal/quality performance attributes.

  • A new algorithm is proposed for the extraction of line segments to construct 3D wire-frame models of building from the high-resolution aerial images. The purpose of this study Is the accurate and effective extraction of line segments, considering the problems such as discordance of lines and blurred edges existing in the conventional methods. Using the edge map extracted from aerial images, chain code tracking of edges was performed. Then, we extract the line segments considering the strength of edges and the direction of them. SUSAN (Smallest Uni-value Segment Assimilating Nucleus) algorithm proposed by Smith was used to extract an edge map. The proposed algorithm consists of 4 steps: removal of the horizontal, vertical and diagonal components of edges to reduce non-candidate point of line segments based on the chain code tracking of the edge map, removal of contiguous points, removal of the same angle points, and the extraction of the start and end points to be line segments. By comparing the proposed algorithm with Boldt algorithm, better results were obtained regarding the extraction of the representative line segments of buildings, having relatively less extraction of unnecessary line segments.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate change of mechanical energy before and after training of half vinyasa yoga. Thirteen subjects (height: $163.4{\pm}3.9$ cm, body mass: $54.9{\pm}7.3$ kg, age: $20.0{\pm}0.49$ yrs) participated in this experiment. The motions of half vnyasa yoga were captured with Vicon system and parameters were calculated with Visual-3D. After training of half vinyasa yoga, the mechanical energies of body segments were increased and increments of mechanical energies in the lower segments were greater than the upper segments. The phase increments of mechanical energies increased phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3 in order. After training of half vinyasa yoga, phase contributions of body segments were similar before training of half vinyasa yoga. The contribution of mechanical energy on trunk segment in body was the greatest contribution of upper segments; also that of mechanical energy on thigh segment in body was the greatest contribution of lower segments. Before training, the coefficient of correlation between vertical center of gravity (CoGz) and mechanical energy of phase 3 was a -.559, but after training, the coefficient of correlation between CoGz and mechanical energy of phase 2 was a .587. These findings suggest that the training of half vinyasa yoga may be increasing the mechanical energies of body segments.

  • Objective: The intestinal microbiota enhances nutrient absorption in the host and thus promotes heath. Qinghai semi-fine wool sheep is an important livestock raised in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau; however, little is known about the bacterial microbiota of its intestinal tract. The aim of this study was to detect the microbial characterization in the intestinal tract of the Qinghai semi-fine wool sheep. Methods: The bacterial profiles of the six different intestinal segments (duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, colon and rectum) of Qinghai semi-fine wool sheep were studied using 16S rRNA V3-V4 hypervariable amplicon sequencing. Results: A total of 2,623,323 effective sequences were obtained, and 441 OTUs shared all six intestinal segments. The bacterial diversity was significantly different among the different intestinal segments, and the large intestine exhibited higher bacterial diversity than the small intestine. Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Patescibacteria were the dominant phyla in these bacterial communities. Additionally, at the genus level, Prevotella_1, Candidatus_Saccharimonas, and Ruminococcaceae_UCG-005 were the most predominant genus in duodenal segment, jejunal and ileal segments, and cecal, colonic, and rectal segments, respectively. We predicted that the microbial functions and the relative abundance of the genes involved in carbohydrate metabolism were overrepresented in the intestinal segments of Qinghai semi-fine wool sheep. Conclusion: The bacterial communities and functions differed among different intestinal segments. Our study is the first to provide insights into the composition and biological functions of the intestinal microbiota of Qinghai semi-fine wool sheep. Our results also provide useful information for the nutritional regulation and production development in Qinghai semi-fine wool sheep.

  • Several methods for PCB pattern inspection have been tried to detect fine detects in pad contours, but their low detection accuracy results from pattern variations originating from etching, printing and handling processes. The adaptive inspection algorithm has been newly proposed to extract minute defects based on movable segments. With gerber master images of PCB, vertex extractions of a pad boundary are made and then a lot of segments are constructed in master data. The pad boundary is composed of segment units. The proposed method moves these segments to optimal directions of a pad boundary and so adaptively matches segments to pad contours of inspected images, irrespectively of various pattern variations. It makes a fast, accurate and reliable inspection of PCB patterns. Its performances are also evaluated with several images.

  • We present a new waveform detection method, based on the search of distinctive line-segments. The method is based on the basic assumption that the waveform morphology of biological signals is readily characterized by a sequence of the distinctive line-segments and their structural features. In this method, the distinctive line-segments are first searched for, and a structural feature analysis is performed an the distinctive line-segments found. Experiments of detecting epileptic spikes were carried out to evaluate the detection per formance of the method. Two subjects were used for training and tuning the algorithm and four subjects for testing the method. The results were obtained on two different performance indices, detection ratio and the number of false detections per minute.

  • This pilot study aimed to set up a reasonable method for measuring body segments parameters and finding out some useful body segments parameters to diagnose Sasang constitutions. In this study, we have tried to take a secure effort in measuring and diagnosing of Sasang constitutions based on the consensus among Sasang constitution experts. And we also have tried to find out some useful body segments parameters based on the actual data. We measured 9 clinically meaningful body lengths specified by Sasang constitution experts and analyzed these parameters statistically according to each Sasang constitution. We have found that Taeeumin female's ratio of foot length to height was significantly large and Soyangin's ratio was significantly small, but more data are needed to confirm this finding.

  • Polyamine titers and the activities of arginine decarboxylase(ADC) and ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), enzymes which catalyze rate-limiting steps in polyamine biosynthesis, were investigated during polar regeneration of Populus leaf segments. The polar regeneration occurred at the basal cut end of Populus leaf segments through cell division around the vascular bundle. In the process of polar regeneration, the titers of putrescine and spermidine increased rapidly but the content of spermine remained constant. The leaf segments were then divided into three separte part ; the proximal, middle and distal. Spermidine titers showed an increase mainly in the proximal parts where polar regeneration occurred. On the other hand, putrescine titers showed an increase in the other two parts. In the course of polar regeneration, the activities of ADC and ODC increased, the ADC activities being higher than those of ODC. However, ODC activity was higher in the proximal part. Therefore, the spermidine contents and ODC activities are suggested to be related to polar regeneration in Populus leaf segments.

  • Bronchiectasis is an irreversible dilatation that may require surgery for successful treatment. We compared High Resolutional Computed Tomography[HRCT]with Bronchography to access the utility of HRCT in diagnosis and determining the extent of Bronchiectasis. We performed a comparative study of HRCT and Bronchography in 10 consecutive patients who were clinically suspected Bronchiectasis were investigated prospectively during last year.A segment-by-segment analysis of the presence, extent, type of bronchiectasis by Amashita classification was done. In 26 segments, Results of HRCT and Bronchogram were both positve, and 119 segments were both negative. But 15 segments were discorded, in 11 segments in positive bronchogram were negative in HRCT and 4 segments in positive HRCT were negative in bronchogram. The diagnostic concordance rate between 2 modalities was 90.6%[145/160]. So, we will be tried to elevate of concordance rate between 2 modalties and applied HRCT in diagnotic tool for bronchiectasis.
