Development of a New Training System for the Improvement of Equilibrium Sense

  • This paper proposes a new training system for equilibrium sense using unstable platform. This training system for equilibrium sense consists of an unstable platform, a computer interface circuit and software program. Postural instability changes the weighting of different types of sensory information and the state of the equilibrium maintenance system. In order to improve the equilibrium sense, we developed software program such as a block game, sine curve training (SCT) and pingpong game using Visual C++. Using this system and training programs, we performed an experiment to train the equilibrium sense of a subject. To evaluate the effects of balance training, the time maintained on the target and the moving time to the target are measured. As a result, the moving time to the target and time to maintain cursor on the target improved through repeating equilibrium sense training. It was concluded that this system was reliable in the evaluation of equilibrium sense. We expect that this system might be applied to clinical use as an effective balance training system.

《황제내경(黄帝内经)》 유관시간이론급시간양생적고찰(有关时间理论及时间养生的考察) (Investigation of Chronomedicine and Health Preserving in Huang Di Nei Jing(黄帝内经 ))

  • Objectives : Through the analyze of formative factor of time sense and the vital movement temporal rhythm in Huang Di Nei Jing(黃帝內經). Methods : We find out the principle and methods of Chronomedicine and Health Preserving in Huang Di Nei Jing(黃帝內經), and this finding will direct the life nurturing for later generations. We find that time sense had been established in Huang Di Nei Jing(黃帝內經), which had yin-yang and five elements characteristic. Results : There have temporal rhythm of functions of zang-fu viscera, meridian and collateral, qi and blood. Based on the theory of correspondence between human body and natural environment, established principle of health maintenance about based on yin and yang, temporal rhythm of visceral qi. Conclusions : Established health maintenance methods based on time such as adjusting-spirit according to time, regular daily life, dietary regimen according to time, needling and moxibustion according to time. These methods will guide syndrome differentiation and therapeutic method and Medication which based on suitable time.

주기정비를 고려한 단일기계 일정계획을 위한 휴리스틱 알고리즘 설계 (Heuristic Algorithm for the Single-machine Scheduling with Periodic Maintenance)

  • This paper considers a single-machine scheduling problem with availability constraints. In many realistic situations, machines may not be always available due to various reasons such as maintenance, breakdown and repair. However, most literature on scheduling assume that the machines are available at all times. This paper deals with a single-machine scheduling problem with periodic maintenance. If the maintenance decision is made jointly with the job scheduling, the system will be more effective. The objective is to minimize the total completion time of jobs. This problem is proved to be NP-hard in the strong sense. The proposed breaking heuristic(BH) algorithm rule is established by some theorems and conditions. Our computational results show that the BH algorithm is much more efficient than existing heuristic.

  • 최근 들어 환경생태의 중요성 인식과 풍요롭고 환경적으로 안정된 생활을 영위하고자 하는 국민들의 욕구가 증대하고 있다. 이에 따라 물을 대하는 국민의 요구도 수질 및 수량관리에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 하천의 생태계를 보전하고 하천의 정상적인 기능을 회복시켜 건전한 하천환경 유지에 대한 수요도 증가하고 있다. 이러한 국민의 요구에 부응할 수 있도록 환경유량에 대한 개념을 정립하여 하천관리는 환경유량과 연계하여 취수를 허락하고, 자연에 가깝게 생태계를 보전하고 관리하여야 한다. 우리나라에서 환경유량은 하천관리 측면에서의 하천유지용수 개념으로 도입되었다. 우리나라에서 하천유지용수 산정은 아직도 인간 위주의 용수이용기능을 중점적으로 고려한 것으로 순수한 환경유량의 의미로서 환경생태적 관점에서 정의되고 강조되지 못했다. 환경유량은 하천유지용수에서 더 발전하여 생태계의 건전성 유지에 강조를 둔 새로운 개념으로 전환되어야 한다. 즉, 환경유량은 하천의 기능과 하천이 가지는 본래의 가치를 유지하기 위해 필요한 유량으로 정의하고 이는 각종 경제활동 유지를 위한 용수 공급, 위락, 심미, 수질, 수력발전, 주운 등을 위한 용수와 동일가치 또는 그 이상에서 고려하여야 한다.

  • Gardens are known to provide relaxation, including psychological stability and mental rest. Recently, social interest in gardens has been growing in various ways, including the increase of groups sensitive to environmental pollution and a rising interest in the overall management of natural resources. In reality, however, the owners of housing gardens lack fundamental knowledge for creating and maintaining the gardens, directly and indirectly. This limitation presents a number of problems and challenges. Therefore, this study conducted an analysis of various aspects relating to the creation and maintenance of housing gardens, reflecting the sense of ownership. The study aimed to examine the current status, and based on this, it was intended to present improvement measures for practical and efficient creation of housing gardens and their maintenance in the future.

페이스북에서 상대방에 대한 존재 인식: 사회적 현존감의 실증적 분석 (Awareness of the Others on Facebook: Empirical Analysis of Social Presence)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the reasons why college students use Facebook and the ways in which they feel of social presence while using Facebook. In fact, the study aimed to specify the links between motivations for using SNS and a sense of 'being together'. The findings of this study suggest that major motivations of SNS use were social interaction, entertainment, self-presentation, and information-seeking. Specifically, results from a survey of 280 respondents revealed that college students used Facebook to seek maintenance and connection with friends, to express themselves, to get information about school activities, and to be entertained. These findings are consistent with the existing literature regarding SNS as a primary channel to maintain the existing social relationships among college students. The study also found that all motivation factors, except information-seeking factor, were positively and significantly related to social presence. The strongest correlations were between social presence and Facebook use for social interaction and entertainment needs. It seemed that users who seek social interaction and entertainment needs are more likely to feel a sense of being with others while users who seek to get information are less likely to feel a sense of social presence. These findings implied that to some extent, a sense of social presence occurs in the context of Facebook and that the experience of social presence depends on what college students seek from Facebook use. In addition, the results showed a positive relationship between Facebook use and social presence; the more college students use Facebook, the more they are likely to experience sense of social presence. Given that Facebook provides college students with a place where they can share thought and feelings among friends, it can be concluded that Facebook contributes to the sense of belonging among users. And such feeling may enhance a sense of presence with others while using Facebook. These findings suggest that uses and gratifications researchers should consider the concept of social presence as an important variable in explaining what audience members do with media.

편마비 환자의 기립균형에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of Various Factors Influencing Standing Balance of Independent Ambulatory Hemiparetic Patients)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the factors influencing the standing balance of independent ambulatory hemiparetic patients. The subjects of this study were 30 hemiparetic patients (18 males, 12 females) being treated as admitted or out patients at Severance Hospital Medical Center, all of whom agreed to participate in the study. In order to assure the statistical significance of the results, the paired t-test aid a Pearson's correlation were applied at the .05 level of significance. The results were as follows. 1. The difference in maintenance time of standing balance on a stable and unstable support surface was significant at the .05 level. 2. The difference in maintenance time of standing balance according to the control of visual and acoustic stimuli was significant at the .05 level. 3. The presence or absence of passive joint motion sense influenced the standing balance maintenance time. 4. There was no significant difference in the maintenance standing balance of the sound tower leg standing conditions according to spasticity, but the paretic lower leg standing conditions were significantly different (p<.05). This type of evaluation should be more widely used in the field of evaluating standing balance with hemiparetic patients. However, more extensive study and reports on various factors of standing balance are needed.

  • Among five sense organs or Gyanendriyas 'Eyes' are considered as most important sense organs. They are said to be the path to mind and seat of Tejas (Light). Now a days due to their overuse and negligence in maintenance we are facing many eye related problems like Dry Eye Syndrome, Cataract, Age related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Computer Vision Syndrome etc. To observe the association of defective lifestyle and related eye problems with their preventive measures, different Ayurvedic procedures are reviewed from ancient literatures and some modern researches. Dinacharya (Daily regimen) explained in Ayurveda helps to prevent many derangements. Lifestyle modification in terms of proper daily regimen and dietary regimen could help to prevent eye problems. Padabhyanga (foot massage) is one of the procedures mentioned in Dinacharya, an effective therapy for healing of eye disorders.

자주포 경제수명 결정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determination for the Economic Life-Time of a Self-Propelled Artillery)

  • This research paper deals with the problem of determining the optimal life time in terms of economical sense for a self-propelled artillery. Equivalent Annual Cost Method(EACM) is used to evaluate the optimal life time, based on the acquisition cost, and the operation and maintenance cost. It is assumed that the operation and maintenance cost includes the costs for spare parts, petroleum and ammunition for training. From the result of this study, the optimal life time for a self-propelled artillery is between 13.9 years and 16.1 years with 95% confidence interval.

로보트 교시.정비작업시의 안전속도한계 (Safe Speed Limit of Robot Arm During Teaching and Maintenance Work)

  • Serious injuries and deaths due to multi-jointed robot occur when a man mispercepts. especially during robot teaching and maintenance work. Since industrial robots often operate with unpredictable motion patterns, establishment of safe speed limit of robot arm is indispensable. An experimental emergency conditions were simulated with a multi-jointed robot. and response characteristics of human operators were measured. The result showed that failure type, robot arm axis. and robot arm speed had significant effects on human reaction time. The reaction time was slightly increased with robot arm speed. though it showed somewhat different pattern owing to failure type. Furthermore the reaction time to the axis which could flex or extend. acting on a workpiece directly. was fastest and its standard deviation was small. The robot arm speed limit securing a‘possible contact zone’based on overrun distance was about 25cm/sec. and in this sense the validity of safe speed limits suggested by many precedent researchers were discussed.
