  • Microscopic examination for the morphological estimation of wear debris on the oil-lubrcated moving system is an accepted method for machine condition and fault diagnosis. However wear particle anaysis has not been widely accepted industry because it is dependent on expert interpretation of particle morphology and relies on subjective assessment criteria. This paper was undertaken to estimate the morphology of wear debris on the oil-lubricated movig system by computer image analysis. The wear test was performed under different sliding conditions using a wear test device made in our laboratory and wear testing specimen of the pin-on-disk-type was rubbed in pararline series base oil. In order to describe characteristics of debris of various shape and size, four shape parameters (50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) have been developed and outlined in the paper. A system using such techniques promises to obviate the need for subjective, human interpretation of particle morphology in machine condition monitoring.

  • This unit - structure of truss stabilized by cable tension is composed of four truss member adding to a central post and eight cables, and is connected by hinge joints and is stabilized by cable tension. As this unit - structures itself is a statically closed and stabilize system individually, it can be employed to assemble a structure with a variety of configuration. In this paper, for determination the shape of the unit - structure of truss stabilized by the cable, characteristics such as the stabilized range of the various geometrical parameter about unit system and the relation of the best governing paramter is demonstrated, and the relation of the results is compared in the range for the stabilization of unit-structure.

  • Nowadays since the automobile is regarded as the third living space, comfortable conditions are required in the passenger compartment. The customer's concern on air-conditioning/heating, ventilation and demisting/defrosting performances has been much increased. Both ventilation and demisting /defrosting performances are directly influenced by register location, shape of regist guide vane, ventilation flow rate, air distribution , and air circulation pattern. Diffuse plume of air from the register is desirable not only to maintain comfort when the comfort when the comfortable condition has been satisfied but to improve demisting /defrosting performance. In this study, experimental and numerical investigation about the flow field of six different register vane types were carried out , respectively. The numerical analysis, based upon the $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model , was applied to the air flow field. The results show that the shape of register guide vane should be considered as an important design paramter.
