해운물류정보시스템의 활성화요인이 물류서비스 효과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Implementing Logistics Information Systems for Korea's Shipping Industry)

  • Logistics has become a key element in a shipping firm's overall strategy, now that the concept of logistics has expanded into one that is more comprehensive and integrated. furthermore, the global shipping market is the most competitive market in the world. In this environment, shipping firms are using Logistics Information Systems (LIS), which help them to save time and reduce costs. As such, LIS has become a critical part of Korea's attempts to develop Its national logistics system and industry. In this light, this study attempted to empirically determine the critical elements necessary for effective shipping LIS implementation and to then analyze how these elements are related to actual logistics performance within the shipping industry. The research results show that the sample firms considered the following factors to be most Important to an effective LIS: the support of top management; an efficient and well-structured communication channel; a solid strategic implementation plan; and a high level of information analysis internally. Other factors mentioned as being somewhat significant included MIS organization and human resources, MIS discipline and training, software development capabilities, MIS organizational alignment, database management systems information standardization, competitive advantage, financial support and government support The main problems with current shipping LIS include the expensive cost of systems, lack of standardized working processes, and weak organizational structures.

항만물류기업의 온라인 비즈니스화를 통한 마케팅 경쟁력과 글로벌 경쟁력 강화 방안 (The Effects of Anticipated Benefits from Introducing e-business Activities by Traditional Shipping and Port Logistics Firms on Their Performance in Marketing Mix and Global Competitiveness)

  • 본 연구는 전통적인 오프라인 기업인 항만물류기업이 온라인 영업활동을 도입함으로써 얻을 수 있는 대표적인 기대효익 요인과 마케팅믹스 및 글로벌 경쟁력간의 관계를 분석한다. 대표적인 기대효익 요인으로 신뢰증진, 정보입수, 오프라인 제약 등 세 가지 요인들이 추출되었다. 실증적으로 추출된 이 세 가지의 온-오프라인 시너지 효익요인들이 해당 항만물류기업의 마케팅믹스와 글로벌 경쟁력을 얼마나 향상시키는가를 분석하였다. 구조방정식모형을 이용한 분석 결과, 기대효익 요인들은 해당기업의 마케팅믹스 요인에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 마케팅믹스 요인은 글로벌 경쟁력에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 항만물류기업이 글로벌 경쟁력을 증진하기 위한 마케팅믹스 전략을 개발하는데 유용한 방향을 제시하고 있다.

  • The information technology(IT) development of telecommunication, along with the information analyzation over the world, enables the firms to process their inner and outer operations through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system. And the concept of logistics has become more important to the enterprises in strategic sense because it had aggrandized itself to more comprehensive and integrative concept. Also the world shipping market is more competitive than any other market. In these environment, to maintain competitive power, shipping firms process operations by Logistics Information system(LIS), And then, reduce the working processes, working time and its costs. So the LIS has become more important in developing our national logistics system and industry. Therefore, this study purposes on empirically analyzing the activation factors of shipping LIS and the relationship these, factors with logistic performances in the shipping industry. Considering environments of Shipping logistics information system, this study sets up the research model and hypothesis to examine the activation factors of shipping LIS and the relationship these factors with logistic performances. We used the field data on the 163 numbers of firms(29 overseas shipping companies and 133 forwarding Agency) to get the empirical evidence. According to the study results, The shipping LIS activation factors which the sample firms recognized as important: were top managers support, well structured communication channel, strategic plans connection and inner information analyzation level. And IS organization & human resources, IS discipline & training, software development, IS organizational alignment, database management system, information standardization, competitive advantage, financial support and government support represent partially significant. Also, the current shipping LISs main problems are expensive system cost, standardization of working processs, institutions imperfection and systems interaction defect. So these problems must be improved to activate shipping LIS.

  • Since 1996, the document exchange method by EDI has been introduced in port and logistics industries in Korea to enhance the declaration activities to the Pusan Port Authority and Customs. In spite of these efforts, users such as shipping companies, shipping agents, and freight forwarders have complained the inconvenience of using EDI systems. The major reasons can be summarized as follows: repetitional EDI transfer, too much transfer time, inconvenient EDI software, and problems on message receiving confirmation. Furthermore, EDI has been used only for transmitting messages. To solve these problems, this study has adopted the integration system by applying the concept of SCM to logistics system by XML/EDl. In the view of SCM, the existing EDI has some problems because its role is only to transmit the messages. This paper is to suggest how current EDI systems in Port and logistics sector has to be chanced by Introducing SCM. The integration system gives us such advantages as accuracy of cargo data, integration of processes among firms, and keeping the trace of cargo.

  • Since 1996, the document exchange method by EDI has been introduced in port and logistics industries to enhance the declaration activities to the Pusan Port Authority and Customs. So, the writers have changed the direction of research to applying the concept of SCM to logistics system by XML/EDI. In this Paper, the prototype systems to integrate processes of shipping company, Port Authority, Customs and stevedoring company will be suggested. The new method of EDI gives us advantages, which are the accuracy of cargo data and integration of processes among firms and keeping the service of cargo trace.

  • The core of this research studies the strategic alliance of airlines, container shipping liners, and port operators that have shown successful results through the recent differentiated strategic Alliance Network, although a difference of scale exists between these firms and the small and mid-sized International Logistics firms, but because of the worldwide traditional Alliance Network of International Logistics firms, HTFN's(High Tech Forwarder Network) half hearted attitude and the small scale alliance of the small and mid-sized International Logistics firms organized in 1998 cannot breakthrough the present strenuous situation. And these results, creating an attempt to save our country's International Logistics Industry which have fallen into depression, suggests an awakening of a new strategy based on specialized nationals innovative IT-which does not exist in the world market-by categorizing our country's small and mid-sized International Logistics firms which are active worldwide.

Effects of Traditional Firms' Agility Obtained by Adopting Internet Business on Corporate Image and Customer Satisfaction

  • Agility is vital to real-time enterprises in comtemporary dynamic business environment. This study aims to investigate the relationships between traditional shipping and port logistics firms' customer agility obtained by adopting Internet business, and their corporate image and customer satisfaction. Using questionnaire data, factor analyses were used to figure out five major agility factors, corporate image factor, and customer satisfaction factor. The agility factors were then used to investigate how they improve the firms' corporate image and customer satisfaction. The results of the regression analyses show that agility factors significantly influence the firms' corporate image and customer satisfaction factors.

  • 부산의 해운비즈니스 산업은 항만물류 중심으로 영세하며, 지역적으로 분산되어 산업시너지를 창출해 내고 있지 못한 실정이다. 부산의 해운비즈니스 산업을 집적화하고 고부가가치 해운서비스 산업을 부산에 유치하기 위한 해운비즈니스 클러스터 집적화 단지의 조성 필요성에 따라 본 연구는 집적화 단지의 조성방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 부산 및 수도권의 해운비지니스업체를 대상으로 집적화 단지의 수요를 조사하여 부산신항 중심의 명지지역에 부산 지역의 산업체와 행정기관 및 교육연구기관의 이전 집적화와 국내외 산업체 및 관련기관을 유치하는 집적화 조성 전략을 제시하고 집적화 단지의 경제적 기대효과를 산정하였다.

기업의 물류특성과 물류관리유형의 적합성에 따른 물류성과에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on Corporate Logistics Characteristics, Logistics Management Type and Logistics Performance)

  • 최근 물류를 가장 효과적으로 수행할 수 있는 물류관리의 한 형태로 제3자 물류가 가장 유용한 수단으로 관심을 받고 있다. 그러나 물류의 이러한 추세 속에서도 물류를 아웃소싱하지 않고 자사가 직접 물류활동을 수행하면서, 그에 못지않게 경쟁력을 확보하면서 물류를 수행하는 기업도 적지 않다. 이를 상황적합이론 관점에서 보면, 기업이 처한 물류 환경 및 특성에 따라 적합한 물류관리 유형은 달라지게 되며, 이러한 적합관계에 따라 물류성과도 달라지게 된다. 본 연구는 이러한 맥락에서 기업의 물류특성과 물류관리유형 간의 적합관계와 이들의 적합관계에 따른 물류성과의 차이를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과 물류업무의 중요성과 물류업무 비중 및 수출비중이 높을수록 제3자 물류가 적합관계를 이루며, 물류비 비중이 높을수록 자사물류가 적합관계를 이루는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 기업의 물류특성과 물류관리 유형간의 적합관계를 이루는 기업이 그렇지 않은 기업보다 물류비용 절감효과와 물류운영 효율성이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
