  • This paper proposes a centralized backoff control scheme for guaranteeing fair packet transmissions in S-ALOHA CDMA system. In S-ALOHA CDMA system, simultaneously transmitted packets act as multiple access interferences, so that unsuccessful packet transmissions are caused entirely by multiple access interferences. Therefore, in order to maximize the system performance, the levels of MAI should be kept at an optimal level. In the proposed scheme, the base station broadcasts the packet transmission probability, which is calculated based on the level of MAI. Mobile stations attempt to transmit their packet with the received probability. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can guarantee a good fairness among all the mobile stations.

  • This paper presents comparison of 18000-3 ASK and PJM mode RFID in terms of reading speed. This is accomplished by counting the occurrences of a few representative blocks which constitute the reader / tag interactions for each mode. To apply FS (frame slotted)-aloha protocol, four Q-algorithms, which are a Q-algorithm suggested in the standard document, a fixed Q-algorithm, a minimum Q-algorithm and the number of tag dependent Q-algorithm, are used. Through some simulations, we present the reading speed of each mode with respect to the Q-algorithm and the comparison of the reading speed between the two modes for each Q-algorithms.

  • This paper proposes an SS-PRMA protocol for the integrated voice and data services in the packet radio networks. In this protocol, the uplink logical channels are provided by combining the time slots and the spreding codes. SS-PRMA protocol contains some features of existing protocols such as PRMA, slotted ALOHA, and CDMA. In the proposed protocol, the voice terminals use a reservation mechanism, and the dta terminals use a slotted ALOHA scheme. The analysis and the simulation results show that most of the performances for the voice traffic can be achieved by employing a few distinct spreading codes and the data traffic throughput is closely related to the number of spreading code channels. Also it shows that the data traffic performance can be significantly improved by applying an FEC scheme to the data link layer.

  • An enhanced irregular repetition slotted ALOHA (IRSA) protocol is proposed by using polarization characteristic of satellite link and MIMO detection in low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks, which is dubbed polarized MIMO IRSA (PM-IRSA). In the proposed scheme, one or two packets in one slot can be decoded by employing polarized MIMO detection, and more than two collided packets in multiple slots which can construct the virtual MIMO model can be decoded by the MIMO detection algorithm. The performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed with the density evolution (DE) approach and the degree distribution is optimized to maximize the system throughput by using a differential evolution. Numerical results certify our analysis and show that the normalized throughput of the proposed PM-IRSA can achieve 1.89 bits/symbol.

  • Recently, the RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology has gained significant attention. One of the performance issues in RFID systems is to resolve the tag collision among responses from RFID tags. In this paper, we proposed a new scheme for estimation of the number of tags in the reader filed. The scheme is used by anti-collision algorithm to identify multiple tags efficiently. And we also present the simulation result that shows the proposed scheme to estimate tags efficiently and also to improve the systems efficiency.

  • In this paper, we compare the accuracy of most representative radio frequency identification (RFID) tag estimation functions in the context of minimizing RFID tag identification delay. Before the comparisons, we first evaluate the accuracy of Schoute's estimation function, which has been widely adopted in many RFID tag identification processes, and show that its accuracy actually depends on the number of tags to be identified and frame size L used for dynamic frame slotted Aloha cycles. Through computer simulations, we show how the accuracy of estimation functions is related to the actual tag read performance in terms of identification delay.

  • In this paper, we propose stabilized MAC protocol to resolve the bistable problem of the slotted ALOHA. The proposed protocol controls the random access rates according to the characteristics of traffic classes. The mathematical model and the experimental results show that the proposed protocol can guarantee the stable operation of random access procedure.
