Objectives : The aim of this study was to show the rationale of point-selection on the methods of acupuncture and moxibustion in the Shin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Methods : First, We summarized the cause of each disease in the Shin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Then, We explained the rationale of acupuncture point-selection referring to the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, exposition of acupuncture point name, character of each acupuncture points, flow of meridian pathways and specific acupuncture points etc. Results and Conclusions : Total 44 acupuncture points were used in the Shin section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Most of acupuncture points were specific acupuncture points. but, some rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, exposition of acupuncture point name, flow of meridian pathways etc.

Methods : First, We summarized the cause of each disease in the Essence of life section(in the Naegyeong Chapter) of the Donguibogam. Then, we explained the rationale of acupuncture point-selection referring to the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, character of each acupuncture points, flow of meridian pathways and specific acupuncture points etc. Results and Conclusions : Total 12 acupuncture points were used in the Essence of life section(in the Naegyeong Chapter) of the Donguibogam. Most of acupuncture points were specific acupuncture points. But, some rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, flow of meridian pathways etc.

Most of acupuncture points were specific acupuncture points. but, some rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, flow of meridian pathways etc.

Then, We explained the rationale of acupuncture point-selection referring to the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, character of each acupuncture points, flow of meridian pathways and specific acupuncture points etc. Results and Conclusions : Total 20 acupuncture points were used in the Mouth & Tongue Section (in the Oehyeong Chapter) of the Donguibogam. Most of acupuncture points were specific acupuncture points. But, some rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by the cause of disease, physiology of the Oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam, flow of meridian pathways etc.

Then we explained the rationale of acupuncture point-selection referring to the cause of disease, physiology of the oriental medicine, other uses of each acupuncture points in the Donguibogam and other literature, character of each acupuncture points and specific acupuncture points etc. Results and Conclusions : Total 9 acupuncture points were used in the Internal Injury section(in the Naegyeong chapter) of the Donguibogam. Most of rationale of acupuncture point-selection were explained by specific acupuncture points, character of each acupuncture points, physiology of the oriental medicine and flow of meridian pathways etc. Each acupuncture points has practical application of specific diseases.

Objectives: This study is to understand and develop Acupuncture treatment in Korean Medicine(韓醫學). Methods : Firstly, the definitions of Acupuncture Prescription(鍼 處方) and Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) were clarified. Secondly, the results from the researches of previously existing Acupuncture Prescriptions(鍼 處方) were analyzed. Results ＆ Conclusions : Acupuncture Prescription(鍼 處方) represents the results achieved from combining Acupuncture Points(腧穴) according to the symptoms of diseases. Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) denote methodologies for proposing Acupuncture Prescriptions(鍼 處方) which were accomplished by combining Acupuncture Points(腧穴) based on a specific theory. The existing methods of combining Acupuncture Points(腧穴) derived from the analysis of Acupuncture Prescription (鍼 處方) have a meaning in suggesting a direction for acupuncture treatments. However, deficiencies still exist to restore the absence of universality and objectivity in acupuncture treatment. Researches on Methods of Acupuncture Therapies(鍼法) based on the principle are required accordingly. The concept of hierarchy exists in Acupuncture Prescription(鍼 處方) and it ranks Acupuncture Points(腧穴) as primary and secondary according to the indications of the Acupuncture Points(腧穴). Since there is the time difference in needling process, the concept of hierarchy is fulfilled through the needling procedure.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to summarize and compare acupuncture points used for dental disorder in the classics with those used in recent clinical trials. Methods : We searched the data for acupuncture points used and rationale of acupuncture in dentistry. Following two sources were searched: 1) seven Classics of traditional medicine and 2) clinical trials through Pubmed from January 2000 to March 2013 with no language restriction. Results : Dental pain was the most common disorder in the dentistry section of the Classics of traditional medicine. We found many similarities of acupuncture points used between literatures and clinical trials. From the meridian perspective, large intestine meridian(LI), stomach meridian(ST), triple energizer meridian(TE), and gallbladder meridian(GB) were frequently used in the Classics of traditional medicine and the clinical trials. From the acupuncture point perspective, acupuncture points were selected according to syndrome. The specific points such as five transport points, source points, and connecting points were also used. In the clinical trials, combination of acupuncture points usually consisted adjacent points and distant points. Among them, LI4 was used in all of the studies included in this review. Conclusions : For well-designed clinical trial, appropriate intervention is essential. To establish appropriate acupuncture treatment, we have to suggest reasoning for treatment based on literature and/or expert consensus. Our review only focused on pain relief in dentistry and had many limitations. Further studies based on the literatures such as the Classics of traditional medicine are required to ensure the rationale of acupuncture treatments in various dental disorders.
