A Study on the Analysis of Curriculums and the Improvements of Beauty Department in College -Focusing on Needs to Develop Beauty Styling Department- (2년제 대학 뷰티관련학과 교육과정 분석 및 개선방안에 관한 연구 -뷰티스타일리스트 전공개설의 필요성을 중심으로-)

  • This study was conducted to propose name and role of a beauty-related specialist, a brand-new profession, recognizing that rapidly evolving culture and industries call for development of a new occupation in beauty business in the 21st century, and to suggest an approach to set up a department to produce such experts. To this end, extensive data and information were collected from relevant companies, education institutions, and all of the eighty two departments at 2-year junior colleges around the country, and were analyzed. The findings of the study are as follows: First, it was acknowledged that a new occupation distinct from existing ones is required in the beauty business. Secondly, the study has defined role of the new job; a professional beauty stylist who is competent to work across beauty, coordination and fashion with long-term perspective. Thirdly, the study suggested name of the brand-new occupation as beauty stylist. The results summarized above have meaningful implications; the study identified weaknesses of the existing beauty-related departments, and suggested practical approaches to improve them in order to provide effective education on the new profession, beauty stylist, and enhance adaptation capability.

  • As Fashion becomes more important in the field of fashion styling and fashion stylists' roles, there has been a strong demand for more unique and stylish fashion. Under these circumstances, the fashion stylist has upgraded the fashion industry as an expert in various fields. The fashion stylist's roles include creation of a fashion image depending on circumstances, improvement of contributionsto product awareness and advertisements by inspiring curiosity and interest from customers and promotion of purchase behaviors. In addition, the fashion stylist should be able to create appropriate attire and hairdos for models in fashion magazines depending on the theme and concept of the fashion and have keen insight, fashion sense and appropriate analyzing and planning skills to follow current trends. This study has investigatedthe field of fashion styling, which has emerged recently and fashion stylists' roles. It appears that fashion styling could develop into a high-growth, high value-added industry as a professional occupation that helps customers have an appropriate fashion sense.

Analysis of the Major Curriculum of Fashion-related Courses in College (전문대학교 패션관련과의 전공과목 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the status of fashion related subjects in colleges and to utilize it as a basic material to develop a better curriculum. To do this, 43 2-year colleges or 63 majors in Korea were analyzed. From the analysis of the locations of the colleges with fashion related majors, it was found that 51.2% schools with fashion related majors were located in the Capital area. When looking at the division to which fashion related departments belong, it was found that 35.5% belonged to design related division, and 22.6% belonged to Art and Physical Education Division. When analyzing the subjects of the colleges with Fashion Design Department (Major), the subject which took the biggest ratio was Clothing Construction and Pattern Drafting as 32.8% and the next was Design Area as 31.5%. In case of Fashion Stylist Department (Major), the subject area with the biggest share was Design Field (49.5%). If looking into segmented classification, design related subjects were 20.9%, and styling related subjects were 17.9%. In Fabric and Fashion related department, the subject with the biggest ratio was Dying and Textile Design as 40.4%, and Fabric related subjects were the next as 22.3%. In the Broadcasting Stylist related departments, the subjects of with the biggest ratio was Fashion Design related subjects as 37% and the next was Beauty related ones as 30.2%. According to the study result, it could be concluded that Fashion related departments in the colleges located in the Capital area focused on the subjects to nurture a fashion designer and their curricula are not specialized or differentiated but somewhat similar one another.

  • This study is to search for a new area and a new kind of occupation for fashion in the field of multi-media such as a movie, drama, mass-culture and advertisement, as a basic investigation to improve a potential of a development of fashion in the future, to keep in step with the trend of the changes under the environment of cultural renovation. In this reports, the field and vision of new contents in fashion will be proposed. The definition and environment of multi-media were examined, and various kinds and work areas of new fashion specialists were defined. 12 professionals in each fields relative to multi-media were selected and the status of affairs, problems and requirements of fashion specialists were investigated through the in-depth interviews with them. Finally new fields and visions were suggested on it's future course. The kind of fashion-specialist on the field related to multi-media were like this: 1. Fashion-stylist, Art-director and Image-maker for star on the field of Video industry. 2. Fashion-illustrator for making animation-game character, Avatar fashion product designer and Internet shopping buyer for Online-business industry. 3. Fashion PR director, Fashion-photo stylist for Advertisement industry. 1 classified new field on the field related to multi-media as the above, and I researched the role of specialist in each field and the status of affairs and vision.

A Study on Service Quality and Consumer Satisfaction of Beauty Parlor (미용실의 서비스 품질과 소비자 만족에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop service quality dimension of beauty parolrs in seoul area. The subject consisted of 545 adults with ages ranged between 20 and 30 who had evaluated service qualify dimension on one of the three different types of beauty parlors in seoul. The beauty parlors were classify into three types. Type I is franchised one, type II is located in center of city and type III is close to consumer's residence area. The result was as follows : 1. Four dimensions of the service quality of the beauty parlor were physical aspects(tangibles·accessibility·cleanness), employee aspects(empathy·capability), policy aspects of beauty parlor (management·reputation·credit card), the skill of the hair stylist. 2. To predict comsumer satisfaction. service quality dimensions were as follows : In franchised beauty parlor, the employee aspects(empathy), the policy aspect (reputation), the skill of the hair stylist were should be considered. In beauty parlor in downtown area, Physical aspects(accessibility), the employee aspects(capability), the policy aspects(reputation), the skill of the hair stylist were should be considered. And the beauty parlor in residence area, the employee aspects(empathy), the policy aspects(reputation) were should be considered.

  • A food coordinator and a food stylist have become one of the prospective jobs in the food industry. Nonetheless, they have not been definitely classified, even regarded as the same meaning. This study was conducted to investigate the different characteristics and job requirements between food coordinators and food stylists by examining the curricula for food coordinators and food stylists of related departments in 13 colleges. According to the result of this study, the definitions of them in the job category have not been clearly distinguished. It was also showed that the job domain of food coordinators was broader than that of food stylists. Therefore, education curricula related to this field need to be reviewed to cultivate the human resources who fit the job requirements for food coordinators and food stylists respectively.

Differences in the analysis of a model's relationship marketing factors for TV home shopping fashion stylist (TV 홈쇼핑 패션스타일리스트에 대한 모델의 관계마케팅 요인 분석의 차이)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a relationship between TV home shopping model and the marketing data of the TV home shopping industry. Differences in relationship marketing factors, trust, and intent to reuse depending on the experience of the model have resulted in a higher assessment of both the expertise and service factors of fashion stylists than groups with 10 years or less experience. In addition, model groups with 15 or more broadcasts in one month rated the professionalism, communication, ties, trust, and intent to reuse fashion stabilists more than 15 model groups. The difference in marketing factors, services, communications and ties between the professional and use of home shopping models was found to be 40 years old as compared to those in their 20s and 30s. Finally, in terms of the gender of the home shopping model, the difference between the marketing factors and the reliability of the relationship and the intent to reuse, the professional, communication and bonding, trust, and re-purpose factors were all rated higher by the female group than the male group. The results of the study suggest that a relationship marketing strategy needs to be established between a fashion stylist and a TV home shopping model, and fashion stylists should be judged based on the characteristics of a TV home shopping model.

A Study on the Educational Conditions and Student Satisfaction of a Foodstylist (전문대학의 푸드스타일리스트과의 교육형태와 학습자 만족도에 관한 고찰)

  • This study was designed to examine the educational conditions of a foodstylist and student satisfaction with the training. It looked at the educational conditions of the food-stylist department, one of relatively newly-emerging departments, and examined student satisfaction by each factor in order to have specific problem in the educational conditions. The purpose of this study was to maintain higher student satisfaction and to have competitive advantage over the other related departments. For the general information of respondents, most respondents said the monthly average income to be approximately 1.5 times higher than that of common workers in the country, showing that the food-stylist department is preferred by the class with economic ability. For admission motives, respondents used the information via mass communication when they choose it For general educational conditions, students have most satisfaction with the originality of department, at the score of 3.79, following by laboratory and vision in the order. The least satisfaction was in career guidance, reflecting that they have vague ideas where to work. For the theoretical course of study, it was found that ‘Introduction to Table Coordination’ had the highest satisfaction, 3.82, following by ‘Coloring’ and ‘Understanding on Oriental and Occidental Tablewares’ in the order. ‘Food and Beverage Service’ and ‘Public Health’ were found to have the least satisfaction, showing that those subjects do not cause any interest in terms of their property. For the satisfaction of practical training course, it was found ‘Cocktail Practices’, ‘Bakery and Confectionary Practices’, and ‘Understanding of Wines’ in the order, showing that practical subjects with high visuality have higher satisfaction. Further studies are necessary to examine the satisfaction with subjects from various classes, together with many course of study, and to develop statistical data that help us understand the needs of students more correctly for application.
