  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the results of treating patients with acute low back pain syndrome who are difficult to walk with Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy. Methods : We used combinations of korean medicine such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping therapy, and thermal therapy. At the same time, the patient was treated with Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy. The first period of hospitalization was 14 days and the second period was 54 days. At the second hospitalization, back pain recurred and was unable to walk. At the first hospitalization, L5-S1 HIVD and L4-5 Mild HIVD were diagnosed on lumbar MRI, and there was no abnormality in blood tests. Results : By relieving muscle tension and restoring the weakened muscle elasticity with herbal treatment and Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy, back pain decreased and the inability to walk gradually improved, making it possible to walk on its own. Conclusions : The results of standing and walking on one's own were obtained by relieving muscle tension and restoring weakened muscle elasticity in acute back pain syndrome with gait disturbance diagnosed with lumbar herniated intervertebral disc through korean medicine treatment and Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy. Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy is thought to help acute back pain by restoring muscle elasticity and strengthening muscle strength. In the future, it is expected that additional clinical studies will be conducted on various pain diseases with Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy.

  • Objective : A common treatment for hypothyroidism is to supplement the deficient hormones. However, taking hormone medication does not improve clinical symptoms or side effects, so it is necessary to develop other improved treatments. The purpose of this study is to report that the Korean medicine treatment along with Whidam's Gokgol(CV2) Sugi therapy has improved symptoms of hypothyroidism and related the level of TSH, free T4 after halting the use of levothyroxine. Methods : We employed Korean medicine treatment; herbal-medication(延齡固本丹 and 加減平胃散), acupuncture, and cupping therapy, and so forth. At the same time, we treated the patient with Whidam's Sugi therapy(especially, Gokgol Sugi therapy). We treated the patient more than five times a week for the first month and treated more than three times a week for the next three months. Since then, we have treated the patient once or twice a week. The patient took a total of four blood tests during her treatment in 2012 and 2017. Results : 1. Both TSH and free T4 levels and clinical symptoms were normalized for patient with hypothyroidism who stopped taking levothyroxine by treating the patient with Korean medicine treatment and Whidam's Sugi therapy. 2. The combination of Korean medicine treatment and Whidam's Sugi therapy was also used in the case of subclinical hypothyroidism patient. 3. The combination of Korean medicine treatment and Whidam's Sugi therapy for hypothyroidism lasted for five years, not just for a short period of time. Conclusions : The combination of Korean medicine treatment and Whidam's Sugi therapy(especially, Gokgol Sugi therapy) was effective in the treatment of hypothyroidism and it helped to normalize the level of TSH, free T4. It is hoped that further clinical research will continue in the future so that it can be used not only for hypothyroidism but also for other endocrine diseases.

  • Objective : This paper provides a narrative review of the research literature on the neurophysiological and neurochemical mechanisms of local vibration while studying the treatment principles and mechanisms of Whidam's vibrator Sugi therapy. Methods : Searches related to vibration therapy research were conducted in PUBMED using "Vibration", "Whole Body Vibration", "Localized Vibration", and "Focal Vibration". The Conditions were limited to review and systematic review. Results : Roberto Casale's paper was selected as an inquiry task and reviewed critically and narratively by referring to other papers. The stimulation process of local vibration (LV) was broadly classified into receptor transmission (pain reception phase), ascending sensory pathway to the spinal cord (segmental phase), and action of the cortex and subcortical structures (systemic control phase) according to the pain pathway. In addition, the role of C-tactile mechanoreceptors, changes in neurotransmitters and neurohormones, LV stimulation below perception threshold (lower threshold), pain control and kinesiologic illusions were specially addressed. In addition, the expression and function of Piezo Channels were added to supplement the human pain and tactile sensing mechanism. Conclusions : LV exerts pain control mechanisms through different interactions that can interfere with pain transmission and pain perception. Since LV provides sufficient neurophysiological reasons for clinical application, it is necessary to expand the use of Whidam's vibrator Sugi therapy to a wider range of clinical applications.

  • Objective: I carried out this study for research on thermographic change of DITI by Sugi Therapy. Methods: This study was conducted on 22 normal cases (M : F =4:18) with no past history to observe the effect of Sugi Therapy. 22 cases were divided into 2 groups. One group is a control group treated by only Acupuncture Therapy. The other group is a treatment group treated by Acupuncture Therapy and Sugi Therapy. I measured temperature of abdomen and palm by DITI (Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging) before and after treatment Result: 1. Overall the temperature difference of the treatment group was bigger than that of the control group. 2. On the palm, the average value of the treatment group was -0.56±0.70, which is lower 10 times than -0.06±0.91 of the control group. 3. On Chung-wan(CV12), the average value of the treatment group was 1.20±0.49, which is 2.15 times higher than 0.56±0.44 of the control group. 4. On Kwanwon(CV4), the average value of the treatment group was 0.77±0.73, which is 1.38 times higher than 0.55±0.39 of the control group. 5. To compare the temperature difference on the palm, Chung-wan(CV12) and Kwanwon(CV4) before and after treatment, the order is like this :Chung-wan(CV12) > Kwanwon(CV4) > palm of all treatment group and control group. Conclusion: I came to a conclusion that Sugi Theraphy is likely to work better with Acupuncture Therapy better than only Acupuncture Therapy, especially on Chung-wan(CV12).

  • The direction of scientific researches on tree improvement and forest management in several universities and research institutes in Japan can be summarized as follows: They put a great emphasis on sugi, Cryptomeria japonica and cypress, Chamaecyparus oblusa which are two major conifer species largerly planted in the Japanese forestry. In the research of sugi, a great concern has been made in evaluating inheritance of forest tree, quantitative characters and genetic parameter of growth, and in breeding for resistance to diseases and insects and to all the natural calamities. Interaction between environmental conditions and genetic nature of tree can be concerned factors in relation with forest damage, together with silvicultural conditions and pest infestation. Selfing hybrids of $F_1$ made from crossing twisted-leaf sugi, defomity leaf type and midori sugi, normal leaf type segregated the normal needle, twisted needle, green leaf and albino leaf type. It seemed that separation of many defomity individuals can be governed by two dominant complementary genes and from the near loci of which it was detected lethal genes. 52% of Japanese forestry is occupied by the small forest landowners like Korean forestry. This made difficulty for forest improvement such as progressive afforestation and for capital accumulation form forestry. The Forest Corporation was established at first in 1959 to aming at productive forestry structure and forest management, and afforestation. For these purpose, 35 Forest Corporations are at moment operating throughout Japan. However, investment in forestry business becomes less attractive since the wage in forest production duction increased in higher trend. than timber price. Therefore, an artifical afforestation becomes yearly decreased. At present. the self-sufficient rate of timber production in Japan is about 35%, and so a great effort is being made to increase self-sufficient rate of timber production.

  • In this paper, we apply a logistic regression model to the data of snow damage on sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) occurred in Toyama prefecture (in Japan) in 2004 for estimating the risk probability. In order to specify the factors effecting snow damage, we apply a model selection procedure determining optimal subset of explanatory variables. In this process we consider the following 3 information criteria, 1) Akaike's information criterion, 2) Baysian information criterion, 3) Bias-corrected Akaike's information criterion. For the selected variables, we give a proper interpretation from the viewpoint of natural disaster.

  • Three localities of coastal sand-dunes along the western coastline of Korea: Sindu-ri, Sinhap-ri, and Jaeun-do, were surveyed for the lepidopteran fauna. This survey resulted in the records of five species new to Korea: a species of Cosmopterigidae, Cosmopterix flavidella Kuroko, 2011, based on eight specimens from Sinhap-ri and Jaeun-do; a species of Tortricidae, Noduliferola abstrusa Kuznetzov, 1973, based on five specimens from Sinhap-ri and Jaeun-do; a species of Pyralidae, Maliarpha borealis Sasaki, 2012, based on four specimens from Sindu-ri; and two species of Erebidae, Ectoblemma rosella Sugi, 1982 and Metachrostis miasma (Hampson, 1891), based on one specimen for each from Jaeun-do. Three genera, Noduliferola Kuznetzov, 1973, Maliarpha Ragonot, 1888 and Ectoblemma Sugi, 1982, are introduced for the first time to the Korean fauna. Two species, Noduliferola abstrusa and Maliarpha borealis, are suggested as the indicator species for coastal sand-dunes. The superficial and genital features of the five species found from this study are described and illustrated. A photograph of the female genitalia of Ectoblemma rosella is provided for the first time.
