콘크리트의 노치 및 비노치 구역에서의 균열폭 및 국부 변형률 정밀 측정기법 (Technique for the Measurement of Crack Widths at Notched / Unnotched Regions and Local Strains)

  • 균열폭은 콘크리트 구조물의 사용성을 평가하는 측면에서는 매우 중요하다. 균열폭을 일정값 이하로 유지할 수 있다면 낮은 투수성을 유지할 수 있으므로 콘크리트의 피복만으로도 염소이온에 의한 부식을 방지할 수 있다. 따라서 내구적인 구조물을 설계하기 위해서는 인장 균열에 대한 충분한 정보가 필요하다. 그러나 균열폭을 정확하게 계측하는 데는 몇 가지 어려움이 있다. 먼저, 균열의 생성 위치를 미리 알기 어렵다. 또한 변형률 게이지 등 탄성영역에서 사용되는 게이지는 사용할 수 없다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해서 화상상관기법 및 고해상도 CCD를 이용한 균열 및 변위계측 시스템을 개발하였다. 이를 통해서 임의의 위치에 생성되는 인장균열폭을 측정하는 방법을 제시하였다. 변위계측 정밀도 검증을 실시한 결과 평균오차는 0.069 픽셀, 표준편차는 0.050 픽셀이었다. UHPC를 이용하여 직접인장 실험을 수행하였다. 노치 구역과 비노치 구역에서 각각 균열을 측정하는 방법을 제시하고, 하중단계에 따라서 클립인 게이지의 결과와 비교하여 설명하였다. 시편의 전면에서 변위벡터를 구성하고, 등변위도 및 변형률도를 작성하였다. 다양한 실험에 적용할 수 있는 범용의 기법이기 때문에 임의의 균열폭 혹은 전면변위 측정 분야에서 많이 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

고온에서 원거리 측정 시스템을 활용하기 위한 코팅기술의 응용에 관한 연구 (Coating technique for use with remote measurement system at elevated temperatures)

  • The remote measurement system(RMS) as a new experimental method is limited in its application to crack measurements at elevated temperatures because of the oxide layer on the specimen surface. Since TiAlN and Cr coating layers have a high resistance to oxidation and wear, this paper proposed a TiAlN and Cr coating technique for specimens to facilitate the measurement of crack growth behavior using RMS. To investigate the effects of the coating layer, tension and fatigue tests were carried out at room temperature and at 538$^{\circ}C$, using specimens of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel. From the experimental results, it was found that the mechanical properties of the TiAlN and Cr coated specimens were similar to those of the substrate. Accordingly, the TiAlN and Cr coated layer had hardly any influence on the fatigue crack propagation.

광탄성법을 이용한 인장판의 경사균열 응력확대계수 측정 (Stress Intensity Factor Measurement of Inclined Crack in Tensile Plates by Use of Photoelasticity)

  • 본 논문에서는 중앙에 경사 균열이 있는 시편을 원형편광기에 설치하여 인장하중을 가한 후 나타나는 등색프린지로부터 디지털 영상처리기법을 사용하여 광탄성 프린지를 2배로 증식하여 세선처리한 후, 이로부터 응력확대계수를 측정하였다. 경사균열 시편으로부터 광탄성 법을 이용하여 응력확대계수를 구한 후 이론식으로 계산한 값과 비교하였다. 실험 결과는 이론값에 근접하였으며 광탄성 법으로 응력확대계수를 정밀하게 측정할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다.

ITO층의 두께에 따른 ITO/PET sheet의 변형거동 및 균열 형성 거동 (Influence of ITO Thickness on the Deformation and Cracking Behaviors of ITO/PET Sheets)

  • In this study, the stress-strain response and the cracking behaviors of ITO film on a PET substrate are investigated. The cracking behaviors of ITO thin films deposited on a thermoplastic semi-crystalline polymer developed for flexible display applications was investigated by means of tensile experiments equipped with an electrical measurement apparatus and an in-situ optical microscope. Electrical resistance increased gradually in the elastic-to-plastic transition region of the stress strain curves and cracks formed. Numerous cracks were found in this region, and the increase of the resistance was linked to the cracking of ITO thin films. Upon loading, the initial cracks perpendicular to the tensile axis were observed at about 1% of the total strain. They propagated to the entire sample width as the strain increased. The spacing between the horizontal cracks is thought to be determined by the fracture strength and the thickness of the ITO film as well as by the interfacial strength between the ITO and PET. The effect of the strain rate on the cracking behavior was also investigated. The crack density increased as the strain increased. The spacing between the horizontal cracks (perpendicular to the stress axis) increased as the strain rate decreased. The increase of the crack density as the strain rate decreased can be attributed to the higher fraction of the plastic strain to the total strain at a given total strain. The higher critical strain for the onset of the increase in the resistance and the crack initiation of the ITO/PET with a thinner ITO film (300 ohms/sq.) suggests a higher strength of the thinner ITO film.

Tc-To법에 의한 콘크리트 균열측정 (Tc-To Method in Measurement of Concrete Crack)

  • Concrete is said to have a high degree of extensibility when it is subjected to large deformations without cracking. The cracking behavior of concrete in the field may even be more complex. For example, in mass concrete compressive stresses are developed during the very early period when temperatures are rising, and the tensile stresses do not develop until at a later age when the temperature begins to decline. Actual cracking and failure depend on the combination of factors and indeed it is rarely that a single adverse factor is responsible for cracking of concrete. The importance of cracking and the minimum width at which a crack is considered significant depend on the conditions of exposure of the concrete. The ultrasonic pulse measurements can be used to detect the development of cracks in structures such as dams, and to check deterioration due to frost or chemical action. An estimate of the depth of a crack visible at the surface can be obtained by measuring the transit times across the crack for two different arrangements of the transducers placed on the surface. In this paper, the concrete cracks that artificially introduced crack width is 1 and 2mm, crack depth is 2, 4, 6, 8cm were measured by Tc-To Method In consequence, the measured depth was increased with increase of measuring distance from concrete crack. The most reliable results were shown when the introduced crack width was 1mm, and the measuring distance was 10cm from concrete crack.

고강도 볼트의 수소취성에 대한 민감도 측정방법 (Measurement Method of Sensitivity for Hydrogen Embrittlement of High Strength Bolts)

  • To measure the sensitivity of the hydrogen embrittlement from plated high strength bolts (SWCH18A, F11T), the bolt was stressed by a corresponding to the amount of tensile strain of 5% and 20%, and then the bolt developed a crack on the surface. The bolt that didn't have concentrated hydrogen, even though it was stressed by a corresponding the amount of tensile strain of 5% and 20%, no crack developed. However, the bolt that had concentrated hydrogen, developed cracks from the thread crest to the root. It is impossible to measure the hydrogen amount from plated high strength bolts using Hydrogen-Determinator, because of the limitation of the minimum sample size (about 1g as a mass or $5{\times}5{\times}5 mm^3$ as a volume). Therefore, the sensitivity of hydrogen embrittlement can be measured by observing the presence of cracks on the surface of plated high strength bolts which are stressed by a corresponding to the amount of tensile strain of 5% and 20%.

New test method for real-time measurement of SCC initiation of thin disk specimen in high-temperature primary water environment

  • In this study, a new rupture disk corrosion test (RDCT) method was developed for real-time detection of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) initiation of Alloy 600 in a primary water environment of pressurized water reactors. In the RDCT method, one side of a disk specimen was exposed to a simulated primary water at high temperature and pressure while the other side was maintained at ambient pressure, inducing a dome-shaped deformation and tensile stress on the specimen. When SCC occurs in the primary water environment, it leads to the specimen rupture or water leakage through the specimen, which can be detected in real-time using a pressure gauge. The tensile stress applied to the disk specimen was calculated using a finite element analysis. The tensile stress was calculated to increase as the specimen thickness decreased. The SCC initiation time of the specimen was evaluated by the RDCT method, from which result it was found that the crack initiation time decreased with the decrease of specimen thickness owing to the increase of applied stress. After the SCC initiation test, many cracks were observed on the specimen surface in an intergranular fracture mode, which is a typical characteristic of SCC in the primary water environment.

구조용 알루미늄 합금에서의 피로균열 열림 및 닫힘 시 AE 발생특성 연구 (AE Characteristics of Fatigue Crack Opening and Closure in Structural Aluminum Alloy)

  • 피로균열 진전시 균열 열림 및 닫힘에 따른 음향방출 특성을 규명하고자 구조용 알루미늄 2024-T4 와 6061-T6 재료에 대해 소형인장 시편에서의 피로균열 진전시 발생되는 AE 특성을 관찰하였으며, 기존의 AE파라미터 분석은 물론 재료의 파단면 분석을 통해 재료특성에 따른 AE 발생거동 사이의 관계를 논의하였다. 대부분의 음향방출 신호는 균열이 열리기 시작하는 위상과 균열이 완전히 닫히는 위상에서 많이 발생되었으며 하중을 최대로 받는 균열 완전 열림에서는 전반적으로 적게 발생됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 재료에 따라서 균열 완전 열렴 부분에서 발생하는 음향방출 특성은 달라졌으나 각 피로 사이클 주파수 변화 (0.1, 0.2, 1.0Hz)에 따른 결과에서는 통일 재료일 경우 피로 사이클 주파수가 변화하더라도 각 사이클에서의 AE hit 발생 경향용 비슷하게 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과로부터 균열 열림 및 닫힘시 재료 의 미세조직과 기계적 특성인 연장강도와 항복강도에 따라 AE 특성이 달라질 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

크리프 균열 성장 실험을 위한 소성 변위 결정법 (Plastic Displacement Estimates in Creep Crack Growth Testing)

  • The ASTM test standard recommends the use of the compact tension specimen for creep crack growth rates measurement. In the creep crack growth rate test, the displacement rate due to creep is obtained by subtracting the contribution of elastic and plastic components from the total load line displacement rate based on displacement partitioning method fur determining $C^*-integral$, which involves Ramberg-Osgood (R-O) fitting procedures. This paper investigates the effect of the R-O fitting procedures on plastic displacement rate estimates in creep crack growth testing, via detailed two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element analyses of the standard compact tension specimen. Four different R-O fitting procedures are considered; (i) fitting the entire true stress-strain data up to the ultimate tensile strength, (ii) fitting the true stress-strain data from 0.1% strain to 0.8 of the true ultimate strain, (iii) fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain, and (iv) fitting the engineering stress-strain data. It is found that the last two procedures provide reasonably accurate plastic displacement rates and thus should be recommended in creep crack growth testing. Moreover, several advantages of fitting the engineering stress-strain data over fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain are discussed.

크롬탄화물 용사피막의 접착력 및 잔류응력측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Adhesion Strength and Residual Stress Measurement of Plasma Sprayed Cr$_3$C$_2$-NiCr Coating)

  • The plasma sprayed Cr$_{2}$C$_{2}$-NiCr coatings are widely used as wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials. The mechanical properties of the plasma sprayed Cr$_{2}$C$_{2}$-NiCr coatings were examined in this study. The distribution of the residual stress with the coating thickness was also examined by X-ray diffraction method. The pore in the coatings could be classified into two types ; one is the intrinsic pore originated from the spraying powder, the other is the extrinsic pore formed during spraying. During the tensile adhesion test, the fracture occurred at the interface of top coat and substrate or top coat and bond coat depending on the existence of bond coat. It was found that the compressive residual stress near the interface decreased with the increase of the top coat thickness. The tensile adhesion strength of the coating without bond coat was higher than that with bond coat, because the coating with bond coat has higher horizontal crack density near the interface between bond coat and top coat.
