현재 디지털라이브러리는 상호운용성의 문제, 콘텐트 확장의 한계, 편리한 관리 환경의 필요성에 직면해 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해선 표준화와 상호운용성이 전제된 시스템이 필요하다. 이런 문제를 근원적으로 해결해 줄 수 있는 차세대 디지털라이브러리 시스템으로 주목 받고 있는 것이 Open Digital Library이다. 여기서는 Open Digital Library의 사상적 기반이 된 OAI 및 OAI-PMH에 대해 조사하였으며, Open Digital Library 프레임워크, 설계 주안점, 적용사례를 연구하였다. 끝으로 표준화된 요소기술을 활용한 Open Digital Library의 발전방향과 확장성을 제시하였다.

이 논문은 김정근과 그의 동조자들이 주장하는 디지털도서관의 여러 가지 사상과 주장을 검토하고 이를 단초로 삼아 우리나라에서 디지털도서관과 관련된 여러 가지 전개양상을 분석하고 있다. 그리고 그러한 전개양상을 토대로 현단계의 디지털도서관의 개발과 연구에 필요한 과제를 도출하게 된다. 주요한 논의는 디지털도서관의 기본요건, 디지털도서관의 운영체제에 관한 것들이다. 더불어, 디지털도서관을 체계적으로 연구개발하기 위한 토대로서 디지털도서관학의 설정을 제안하고 있다.

As information technology has been evolving, digital library emerges as a vision of future library. Many authors on digital library describe that the problems that today's libraries face would be completely solved by using digital technology. But it is su n.0, pposed that such technology oriented papers do not take care of what the library has been and should remain. This paper is prepared to identify what core elements of library services being provided in traditional environment must be transferred to the digital library. For this purpose, firstly historical transition from traditional library to digital discussed. Secondly, library's fundamental service functions are analysed from three points of view-library as cultural and social institution, library as intellectual reality, library as a collection. And 'control zone' concept is also investigated as a new possibility of academic digital libraries. In contrast to open zone in which information is not controled at all as in internet, in control zone, information is selected and maintained by academic library community, retaining such essential library functions as selection.

This paper surveyed the theoretical backgrounds of digital library. Its definition and function and case studies, and basic skills for system construction of digital library were suggested. The differences between the traditional library and the digital library were compared. And the conditions that should be take into consideration of digital library construction were suggested. Suggestions are summarized as follows : 1. For the construction of digital library, library collection should be digitalized by using CD-ROM and commercial online services. 2. The digitalization of library collection should be planned by subject sharing between the libraries. For the control of this cooperation, the orgnization to propel the digitalization should be established. And it is necessary to enact the standards for the digital library. 3. The connection between MARC formatted bibliographic database and full-text should be studied. 4. All the types of information about texts, pictures, sounds and if films should be also digitalized. 5. To satisfy the needs of many users, we have to establish the various users's interface which is fitted for several kinds of users. 6. When a digital library was constructed, the copyright and resources sharing must be guranteed depending on the cost of database's usage. 7. Because the digitalization of library will be related to the various kinds of libraries, the interface for resources sharing will be constantly concerned. 8. The sharing of information resources between the libraries will be enacted on the Internet. And we must be interested in various internet tools such as telecommunication softwares, media convert programs, etc. 9. By training staffs continously, all libraries must be ready to come the library in the future.

본고는 도서관 정보 서비스 및 이용자교육의 중요한 연구 영역인 도서관 불안에 관한 연구를 디지털 도서관 환경 측면에서 새로이 검토하였다. 특히 본 논문은 디지털 도서관이 활성화되기 전에 개발되어 현재까지 대부분의 도서관 불안 연구에서 측정도구로 사용된 Bostick(1992)의 도서관불안척도(Library Anxiety Scale: LAS)를 분석하면서 디지털 도서관 환경에서의 변화(예: 디지털 참고 정보봉사, 원격 이용의 증가, 서지교육에서 정보이용교육으로의 질적 전환 등)를 충분히 수용하지 못하고 있는 그 도구의 한계점을 파악한 후, 이 논의를 토대로 정보이용과 관련된 불안을 측정할 수 있는 새로운 도구개발의 필요성과 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.

본 연구는 한국과 일본의 대표적인 과학기술정보센터인 KISTI와 JST의 과학기술정보를 공유 활용할 수 있도록 디지털도서관모형을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 디지털도서관의 개념, 구성 요소를 포함한 프레임웍과 기술 요소를 살펴보았으며, 협력 기반 디지털도서관의 사례를 조사 분석하여 최근 디지털도서관 협력의 특징을 고찰하였다. 제안된 디지털도서관 모형은 단계적으로 협력의 범위를 확장하는 모형으로, 대상 자원의 협력 및 공유 가능성에 따라 데이터의 직접 교환과 분산검색을 병행하며 메타데이터로부터 원문으로 자연스럽게 연결하는 방안이 포함되어 있다. 제안된 모형은 다른 분야나 타 기관과의 협력에서도 적용 가능할 것이다.

디지털도서관을 단순한 정보유통 구조의 한 부분으로 정의하지 않고 디지털도서관 그 자체를 자원의 생산, 유통 그리고 재생산을 위한 무형의 가치창출 행위로 인식하였으며 디지털자원의 속성을 해석함으로써 디지털도서관을 설계하였다. 즉, DRM(Digital Resources Management)의 가치를 디지털도서관으로 보았으며 그것을 전통적 도서관의 진화로 인식하였다. 이미 대학도서관들의 오픈액세스 자원생산이 이루어지고 있으며 클라우드 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 도서관 디지털장서 관리와 공유가 가능함을 보여줌으로써 출판이 가미된 디지털도서관의 가능성을 보여주었다.

MAA Digital library Workshop, October 6-8, 2006 was held at the newly completed Carriage House Conference Center at MAA Headquarters. This workshop is designed to inform participants about the Mathematical Sciences Digital Library (MathDL), the new MAA Math Gateway project, and the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) and to enable participants to conduct short sessions publicizing these online resources at MAA Section Meetings. The workshop was conducted by Lang Moore, David Smith, and Eileen McIlvain. Major support is being provided by the National Science Foundation through the National Science Digital Library Program. We introduce what was in there and how we properly use and publicize them and add what we could do.

도서관정보화 정책의 주요 부분으로 각 분야에서 다각적으로 추진중인 디지털도서관 사업의 목표는 세계적인 정보화 추세를 반영하여 도서관 정보환경을 개선하고 국민들이 다양한 디지털 지식정보를 이용할 수 있는 지식기반사회를 구현하는 데 있다. 이에 본 논문은 지금까지 추진되어왔거나, 계획중인 디지털도서관 정책과 제도를 분석해봄으로써 디지털도서관의 이념과 목표를 재확인하고 앞으로의 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to survey various digital library models that form basic concept of the hybrid information services and to suggest the needs of hybrid information services in digital environments as previous stage towards a building of generic information model appropriate to hybrid information environments. This study deals with the change of information service environments and information services of traditional and digital environments, Also addressed are relationships between digital library and information services. Finally. this study suggest the needs of hybrid information services in digital environments and survey various digital library models that form basic concept of the digital library models.
