  • On account of Indoor Air Quality(IAQ) deterioration by reason of high isulation and air tightness for energy saving, absence of energy efficiency ventilation system development that can be domestic existing window system, the cost increase and the energy addition loss by mechanical ventilation for IAQ improvement the ventilation obligation making design standard was prepared by a social and technical background and the necessity. In this study, open module type natural ventilation window system for energy saving included a fixed and continuous quantity ventilation was developed. Air Pollutant Dispersion Phenomena at a Street under a Sky Train Station in Bangkok, Thailand

  • The ventilation performance of a street in Bangkok, Thailand, was investigated by performing measurements and conducting a CFD analysis. We focused on a street that was covered by an elevated train station. It was shown that the ventilation efficiency varied drastically depending on the angle between the street and the wind direction. When the wind direction was parallel to the street, the elevated structure had a negative influence, which created higher pollutant concentrations than in locations without elevated structures. However, when the wind direction was perpendicular to the street, the pollutant concentrations in the two situations were similar. Using a CFD analysis and ventilation performance indexes, it was shown that the elevated structure directed the wind flow and enhanced the ventilation efficiency, which positively affected ventilation performance. These kinds of knowledge can lead us to optimize city planning including high-rise buildings with high ventilation efficiency.

CFD analysis of ventilation efficiency around an elevated highway using visitation frequency and purging flow rate

  • The concentration of air pollution along roads is higher than the surrounding area because ventilation efficiency has decreased due to the high-density use of space along roads in recent years. In this study, ventilation efficiency around a heavily traffic road covered by an elevated highway and hemmed in along its side by buildings is evaluated using Visitation Frequency (VF, the frequency for pollutant to return to the objective domain) and Purging Flow Rate (PFR, the air flow rate for defining the local domain-averaged concentration). These are analyzed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based on the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model. The VF and PFR characteristics of four objective domains are analyzed in terms of the changes in wind direction and arrangements of the fencing dividing up and down direction in the road center under the elevated highway. The resulting VFs are more than 1.0 for all cases, which means that pollutants return to the objective domain restricted by the elevated highway and side buildings. The influence of the arrangement of the buildings around the objective domain and the structure in the domain on the VF is substantial. In cases where there are no obstacles under the elevated highway, the local air exchange rate in the domain tends to be improved. Using these indices, the urban ventilation efficiencies between different urban areas can be compared easily.

  • Tall buildings are frequently decried as unsustainable due to their excessive energy usage. Early skyscrapers used natural light and ventilation to facilitate human comfort and applied organic materials such as stone, glass, wood, concrete, and terra cotta for cladding and finishes. With the advent of fluorescent lighting, modern heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, and thermally sealed curtain walls, tall office buildings no longer had to rely on natural light and ventilation to provide comfort. Energy efficiency was not a significant factor when the operational costs of buildings were relatively inexpensive. However, today's skyscrapers must become more energy-efficient and sustainable due to energy crises and climate change. This paper highlights vital energy-efficient design principles and demonstrates with illustrative case studies how they are applied to tall buildings in various parts of the world. It shows how sustainable environmental systems do not act alone but are integrated with advanced curtain wall systems, sky gardens, and atria, among others, to regulate and sustain thermal comfort and conserve energy.

공동주택의 하이브리드 환기시스템 성능평가 연구 (A Study on the Performance of the Hybrid Ventilation System for Apartment Houses)

  • 본 연구는 공동주택에서 하이브리드 환기시스템의 적용성을 검토하고, 하이브리드 환기시스템의 성능을 향상하기 위해 CFD시뮬레이션을 이용하여 설계방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구대상으로는 전용 $51m^2$, $84m^2$의 공동주택을 선정하였으며, 하이브리드 환기시스템은 창틀자연급기와 각실을 덕트로 연결하여 배기하는 시스템(Hybrid 1)과 창틀자연급기와 욕실 거실배기가 혼합된 시스템(Hybrid 2)을 적용하였다. 이때 각 시스템별 배기구의 위치를 변수로 하여 CFD를 수행하였다. $51m^2$, $84m^2$ 모두 Hybrid 2가 Hybrid 1보다 환기효율이 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 평균공기연령 또한 낮은 것으로 나타났다. Hybrid 1의 경우, 덕트 배기구의 위치가 각 실 입구에 설치하는 것보다 실 안쪽 모서리에 설치하여 기류이동을 많이 유발할 수 있는 유형이 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. Hybrid 2의 경우, 욕실 고정압팬에 덕트를 연결하여 거실중심에 배기구를 설치하는 시스템이 환기효율이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 $51m^2$의 경우 Hybrid 2가 Hybrid 1보다 20%의 향상된 환기효율을 나타낸 반면, $84m^2$의 경우는 14%의 향상된 환기효율을 나타내 공동주택 규모에 따른 적정한 하이브리드 환기시스템에 대한 검토가 필요하다.

Exceedance probability as a tool to evaluate the wind environment of urban areas

  • The present study aims to estimate the wind ventilation performance for pedestrian level domains from the air quality point of view. Three typical models of a dense urban area were considered and numerically simulated in order to examine the effects of the geometry of such models on wind flow characteristics, which in turn affect the air quality, within the pedestrian domain of a street canyon located within this area. The calculated flow fields were employed to estimate the exceedance probabilities within the study domain using a new approach: air exchange rate within the domain. The study has been applied to nine cities in Japan: Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Niigata, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sendai, Yokohama, and Kyoto, based on their mean wind velocity data. The results demonstrated that the exceedance probability analysis of the pedestrian wind environment could be a valuable tool during the design stage of inhabited areas for the evaluation of pollutant-removal efficiency by the applied wind. Also, the calculated probabilities demonstrated substantial dependence on both the geometry of building arrays and the wind conditions of the nine cities.

실증실험을 통한 측정 위치에 따른 주거공간 환기성능 평가 (Evaluation of Ventilation Performance of a Residential Unit for Different Sampling Points through Actual Field Tests)

  • 일반적으로 실내 공기질을 조절하기 위해서는 환기의 역할이 중요하다. 최근 코로나-19 등 감염병의 확산으로 거주자들의 실내에서 보내는 시간이 늘어남에 따라 환기의 중요성은 더욱 높아지고 있으며, 환기성능에 대한 관심도 더욱 높아지는 추세이다. 많은 국가에서 현재 환기 성능을 파악하는 지표로서 시간당 환기횟수를 사용하고 있으며, 국내에서도 공동주택을 대상으로 시간당 0.5회 이상의 환기횟수를 확보하도록 규제하고 있다. 하지만, 선행연구 및 국내외 환기성능 평가 관련 표준을 검토한 결과 시간당 환기횟수만을 통해 실내 환기 성능을 평가하는데에는 실질적 실내 환기 성능을 평가하는 데에는 한계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 실질적인 환기 성능을 평가하기 위해서는 실내 국소부위를 대상으로 오염물질 저감속도와 공간내 환기 성능 균일도 등을 고려하는 것이 필요할 것이다. 이에 대해 본 연구에서는 추적가스 희석법을 이용한 실증 실험을 통해 측정 위치별 유속, 공기연령 및 환기효율을 측정하고 비교하였으며, 측정점별 조합에 따른 평균값과 공간 내 중심점에서의 측정값을 비교하여 측정점 선정에 따른 환기성능 차이를 비교 조사하였다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 실환경 기반의 주거공간 실내 환기성능을 평가하기 위한 실험절차 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

도시철도 지하역사 PSD 설치에 따른 배기시스템 개선 연구 (A study on the improvement of the air exhaust system at the PSD installed subway station)

  • 도시철도 지하역사에 설치되어 운영중인 승강장 안전문(PSD)은 승객의 추락방지 등 안전사고 예방에 큰 기여를 하고 있지만, 기존 승강장 선로 배기설비의 차단으로 인해, 일부 역사에서 승강장내 환기효율 저하문제를 발생시키고 있다. 본 연구에서는 PSD가 설치된 승강장의 기존 급배기 시스템의 환기효율 개선을 위해, 승강장과 대합실로 통하는 계단부 하부공간의 무효한 공간(창고)에 국부적인 하부 배기시스템을 추가하고, 승강장 배기용 덕트를 선로부의 기존 배기시스템에 연결하여 연동함으로써 기존 시스템에 무리 없이 승강장 실내환경을 개선하고자 하였다. 즉, PSD 설치이후 승강장 내부의 전체적인 기류혼합효과와 오염된 실내공기를 효율적으로 배출하기 위한 하부배기 방식을 연구하였다. 이러한 하부배기 방식의 효과를 예측하기 위하여, 서울지하철 2호선 역사를 선정하여 급배기량을 실측하고, 이를 바탕으로 전산수치해석 연구를 수행하여 개선효과를 예측해보았다. 하부 배기시스템의 적용은 승강장 기류의 지체상태 및 환기효율 특성을 나타내는 공기연령 측면에서 약 16.5%의 개선효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

지하도 상가 냉난방.환기 시스템의 난방운전 특성 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Heating Characteristics of HVAC Systems for Shopping Center in Underground Passage)

  • The shopping center in underground passage for efficient space utilization is increased in urban area. This study describes operation characteristics of HVAC systems with ventilation and individual heating and cooling unit for shopping center in underground passage. In order to compare energy saving, thermal environment and installation space, etc., an integrated simulator with heat production and distribution system was designed and constructed. Energy delivery efficiency is improved over 20%, and energy saving of the hybrid system is calculated as over 30% compared to conventional all air type in the case of heating. And also the results showed that humidity decreased about $5{\sim}6%$, also characteristics of thermal control is improved over 34%.
