  • The shape evolution of the interface void of copper metallization for intergrated circuits under electromigration stress is modeled. A 2-dimensional finite-difference numerical method is employed for computing time evolution of the void shape driven by surface diffusion, and the electrostatic problem is solved by boundary element method. When the diffusion coefficient is isotropic, the numerical results agree well with the known case of wedge-shape void evolution. The numerical results for the anisotropic diffusion coefficient show that the initially circular void evolves to become a fatal slitlike shape when the electron wind force is large, while the shape becomes non-fatal and circular as the electron wind force decreases. The results indicate that the open circuit failure caused by slit-like void shape is far less probable to be observed for copper metallization under a normal electromigration stress condition.

  • As lengthen gap leng of artificial needle shape void 0.24.rarw.1.5[mm]), the amplitude of AE(Acoustic Emission) pulses was enlarged and number of pulses be generated was few. The longer gap length of void, the shorter breakdown time. As a result of this, I found that existen of void in insulation mate was fatal deterioration of insulation. According to phase angle of applied voltage, time being void was scattered largely in region of phase angle of pulses of origination in phase angle of applied voltage. The result will be used to analysis of void diagnosis.

  • A color based segmentation procedure and a modified signature technique have been applied to the detection and analyses of complicated void shapes in cemented materials. The gray-scale segmentation and available signature methods were found to be inefficient especially for the analyses of complicated void shapes. The applicability of the developed methodology has been demonstrated on artificially prepared cemented materials made of self compacted concrete material. In order to characterize the void shapes in the investigated sample images, two new shape parameters called as coefficients of inclusion and exclusion have been proposed. When compared with the traditional use of the signature method, it was found that the methodology followed herein would better characterize complicated void shapes. The methodology followed in this study may be applied to the analysis of complicated void shapes that are often encountered in other cementitious materials such as clays and rocks.

  • This paper addresses the discharge characteristics of cross-linked polyethylene according to void by the Weibull function. It analyzes discharge number and amount of discharge using Weibull distribution to identify the inter-relationship between partial discharge and defect. We detected a 10 second discharge. The applied voltage increased by 1 [kV] at discharge inception voltage. As a result, in a no-void specimen, the shape parameter was consistent according to the increase of voltage, whereas, in a void specimen, it increased according to the increase of voltage. As the result, the shape parameter expressed a fixed value at no-void specimen. However, in void specimen, according to increasing voltage shape parameter rapidly increases.

  • In this study, construction modulus, void ratio and settlement characteristics of 38 CFRD in domestic and foreign countries were investigated from monitoring data. The effect of field dry density and void ratio to dam body was analyzed. The standard void ratio of CFRD that can be easily used by dam designers and field engineers was proposed from the monitoring data. It was confirmed that we can get the degree of compaction needed for reasonable compaction of dam body by calculating the field dry density from inverse operation of the standard void ratio. It was thought that the void ratio of CFRD depends on shape coefficient and in case of a high shape coefficient, the void ratio was high with its void ratio 0.17 -0.38.

  • The correlation between shape of electrical trees and partial discharge(PD) pulses in low density polyethylene(LDPE) were discussed. We observed growth feature of electrical tree by using optical microscope. On the basis of experimental results of measurements of trees occurring in the needle-plane arrangement with needle shape void and without needle shape void , statistical quantities are derived, which are relevant to PD pulse amplitude and phase. The PD quantities detected by partial discharge detector. we were analyzed q-n distribution pattern and $\psi$ -q-n distribution pattern. In this experiment, electrical trees in the needle-plane arrangement with needle shape void propagated branch type tree and in the needle-plane arrangement without needle shape void propagated bush type tree

  • In this study, settlement characteristics of 38 CFRD was investigated from monitoring data and the method to estimate the dam settlements considering valley shape during constructions was proposed. The construction modulus of dam was found to be dependent on void ratios and valley shape factor. The construction modulus varied with valley shape and decreased with increasing void ratio. Also, the modulus was increased when the shape coefficient was less than 4. The settlement investigation results showed that the total settlement was proportional to the value of the settlement coefficient multiplied by the shape coefficient divided by void ratio.

  • Impedance method was carried out to design the electrode that can measure the void fraction of the bubbly flow in pool reservoir. To find out the optimum electrode shape, Styrofoam-tests were performed in a specially designed acrylic reservoir. Three kinds of electrodes were designed to compare the characteristics of water-air flow. The resistance was increased as the void fraction increased and the capacitance was decreased as the void fraction increased. The resistance is a main parameter to express the nature of the water-air flow in impedance method. Almost all the values of impedance were involved in resistance. The degree of deviation from the mean-resistance values showed reasonable results. Electrode type-I expressed excellent results among the three electrode shapes. The impedance values in void fraction 0-10% were similar to those of Maxwell's equation. But the impedance values in void fraction 10-20% were not similar to those of Maxwell' equation because of the edge effect near electrode.

  • This paper is aimed at determining the e-field distribution by apply voltage of air void, which can be generate air void in the XLPE cable for ultra high voltage. E-field distribution had an effect in XLPE due to the type and position of void, compared and studied. This method of analysis is based on the quasi-static electromagnetic 3D simulation program by boundary element method (BEM): Applied AC 3[kV], discretization of 2000 elements, 4 angular periodicity, The result of experiment indicate that E-field distribution appeared the highest levels on the void position of electrode 2[nm] outer boundary and shape of the smallest inner angle in the void. This will serve to explain the XLPE cable degradation studied of possible, connected cable variation of position and shape of void effects to e-field concentration.
