This study was carried out to identify how a middle-aged woman's consciousness of the death and self-esteem was affected by whether the hospice volunteer's experience exist or not. As a form of descriptive research, this study, which is based on a structured questionnaire intended for the 191 middle aged women doing volunteer work at the non-profit women's organization, had been conducted twice from May 10, 2010, to May 21, 2010. The results of my research work is followed ; First, a middle-aged woman's consciousness of the death and self-esteem showed significant differences depending on whether the hospice volunteer's experience exist or not. Experienced hospice volunteer group showed a lower consciousness of the death and a higher self-esteem compared to non-experienced hospice volunteer group's case. Second, in case that the results show a high self-esteem, the consciousness of death reach at the low stage. Especially, the experienced hospice volunteer group showed an opposite correlation compared to non-experienced group. Third, Anyone's consciousness of death appeared at a low level when she had a religion and higher education background. Anyone's self-esteem oriented sense appeared at low level when she didn't have religion but rather appeared at high level when the health status of the targeted group was in a good shape. As a result, the hospice volunteer activities can be assumed to increase the middle-aged woman's self-esteem, therefore, turn the consciousness of death into a positive attitude.

This study sought for an improvement plan of overall fire-fighting activities and all kinds of support activities of service for public welfare of Korean Volunteer Fire Departments by utilizing the internal fire administration data and statistical yearbooks of the (Old)Ministry of Public Safety and Security (MPSS), the statistics of the (Old) National Emergency Management(NEMA), and the data of the National Statistical Office (NSO) of 5 years from 2012 to 2016 and drawing the practical problems through the statistical analysis. The results of the study are as follows: First, the quota management system of Volunteer Fire Departments that considers the characteristics of rural areas should be supplemented. Second, the culture and training system to solve internal conflict factors of Volunteer Fire Departments should be strengthened. Third, management members readership competency of operating organizations including volunteer fire marshals should be strengthened. Fourth, the education and training system of Volunteer Fire Departments to satisfy regional conditions should be established. Fifth, the reward system for Volunteer Fire Departments' activities of large disaster sites should be improved. The result of the study will be expected to be utilized as the basic data to develop Korean Volunteer Fire Departments in the future.

The disposition towards volunteer work and leadership traits are the basic qualities that should be possessed by teenagers who are to become next generation leaders. The 'Volunteer Work and Leadership' program was developed to attain this goal and all S high school students were subjected to this program. This program was comprised of four modules, and this dissertation is focused on the second module: 'Wisdom Leader'. This program, which was conducted for six hours on a daily basis, was carried out two times per day during the first semesters of 2006 and 2007 on freshmen students. The program was comprised of three conceptual frameworks-Education of the heart that improves your emotion which includes 'cultural performance', 'volunteer work leadership group performance' and 'spot strategy for stress management'. Education of the hand pursues knowledge, which includes 'special lecture of leadership' and 'leader research through movies', and Education of hand which students directly participate in workshops were also used. After studying the results of the program, it was found that the satisfaction level of the education was higher during the second session than the first session. Therefore the objective of this program to enhance the leadership qualities of students was attained Also, this dissertation was able to reaffirm the relationship between volunteer work and leadership. I hope that the leadership content can be used systematically for enhancing the educational effect of volunteer work.

Japan has a very advanced volunteer fire brigade system as an interdependent organization by local residents due to frequent natural disasters. Japan has fostered and developed the volunteer fire brigade in the national level to response rapidly and appropriately to earthquake or natural disasters even in the urban area that has sufficient fire stations and fire officers. This study analyzes the situation of operating the volunteer fire brigade in Japan in detail and compares the result with Korean situation. Finally, this study suggests policies which can be introduced to activate the volunteer fire brigade in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to examine the motivation of elderly people to participate in volunteer activities and to analyze the effect of participation motivation on satisfaction with volunteer activities of them. The 297 questionnaires which were collected from persons over 60 years old who were doing voluntary service activity in welfare center for the aged, Silver police in Goyang and Paju city. The frequency, factor and regression analysis were used for the research. The results are as follows: First, the motivations to participate in volunteer activities had four factors: self-realization, social activities, social responsibility, and personal achievements, and these factors had positive effect on satisfaction with volunteer activities. Second, the motivation to participation in volunteer activities and the degree of satisfaction with them were found to be different in accordance with age, education, income, religion and health.

The purpose of this paper is to study effects of participation motivations, relationships, and compensation on a satisfaction in activity of volunteer firefighter. For this purpose, we surveyed 106 volunteer firefighter worked in Sejong city. The survey data was analyzed the reliability in questionnaire design by SPSS 20.0 win program. Also, the interrelationship of each factors were confirmed by analysis of frequency, percentage and regression analysis. Furthermore, the regression analysis was performed in order to investigate effects of motivations, interpersonal relationships, and compensation on a satisfaction in activity of volunteer firefighter. A factor of motivations, interpersonal relationships, and compensation was found to be a positive influence on a satisfaction in activity of volunteer firefighter under significance probability of < 0.05. The overall satisfaction was influenced in order of motivations, compensation, interpersonal relationships. This paper is expected to serve as a basis for the efficient operation of the Korean Volunteer Fire Department.

Purpose: This study was to explore the degree of quality of life (QOL) in hospice volunteers and identify related factors Methods: A total of 243 subjects was recruited from eight hospitals of the Catholic University in Korea. Research tool used to measure QOL was questionnaires developed by You-Ja, Ro in 1988. The data obtained was analyzed using the SAS program to compute a t-test, ANOVA, and Stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score of QOL was $3.65{\pm}0.39$. The QOL was significantly increased with perceived health status, satisfaction to the hospice volunteer activity, family response on volunteer activity, qualification as a hospice volunteer, and needs of education. Among six domains of QOL, self-esteem had the highest score. Conclusions: It would be necessary for hospice volunteers to provide an program considered health status, satisfaction to the hospice volunteer activity, family response on their activity, qualification as a hospice volunteer, and needs of education to increase their QOL.

Volunteer Computing 환경에서 프로젝트 서버가 클라이언트들의 유휴 컴퓨팅 자원을 효율적으로 활용하기 위한 연구는 활발하게 진행되었으나, 프로젝트 서버로부터 받아온 외부작업과 클라이언트의 고유작업 사이에서 발생하는 성능간섭을 최소화시키기 위한 연구는 미비하다. 본 논문은 대표적인 Volunteer Computing 플랫폼인 BOINC 환경에서 외부작업이 클라이언트의 고유작업에 미치는 성능간섭을 확인하기 위한 다양한 실험을 수행하였으며, 그 원인에 대한 분석을 제시하였다. 실험 결과 고유작업의 쓰레드 수가 증가하거나 전체 연산에서 I/O 작업의 비중이 높을수록 성능간섭이 늘어나는 사실을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구의 결과는 사용자가 Volunteer Computing 어플리케이션을 운영할 시 고유작업의 특징을 고려하여 성능간섭을 최소화 하는 옵션을 설정하는 목적에 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an elderly care volunteer program for nursing students and to evaluate its effects. Method: An elderly care volunteer program was developed and then used with 77 nursing students for 6 months. Before and after the program, students responded with a questionnaire on knowledge, attitude and behavior toward the elderly. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, t-test, and Repeated measure ANOVA. Result: The elderly care volunteer program significantly improved knowledge toward elderly between the experimental and control groups but not in attitude and behavior toward elderly. Conclusion: This study shows that the elderly care volunteer program was an effective service-learning program to improve knowledge toward elderly for nursing students.

Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and satisfaction with volunteer work in a population of health care center volunteers. Ultimately, the results from this study would help to find ways to keep volunteers continuing their work. Methods: The participants of this study were 179 volunteers who were affiliated with three health care centers located in Gyeonggi-do. Descriptive statistics and multi-stage regression were conducted to analyze data. Results: Self-esteem was significantly associated with the satisfaction with volunteer activity. In addition, the relationship with clients rather than volunteers' general characteristics was also significantly related to the satisfaction with volunteer work. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to increase a volunteer's self-esteem so that the volunteer can keep continuing his or her volunteering activities. Also, in order to promote good relationships between the volunteers and the clients, it will be important to teach communication skills to volunteers.
