A Study on the GIS Feature and Attribute Coding Scheme

GIS 지형지물 및 속성부호 표준화에 관한 연구

The most important thing for the national GIS development is considered to be the standardization, especially the development of the standard coding scheme for the GIS features and attributes. The comparative study on those of the several international transfer standard is, therefore, very meaningful. In this paper we analyzed the features and attributes coding catalogue for the three different exchange standards; SDTS, DIGEST and SP-57. And also the new coding scheme is proposed as the unified standard frame to be used for all the GIS related application and the digital product.

지리정보체계(GIS) 구축을 위해 가장 우선적으로 해결되어야 할 선결과제는 표준화에 관한 것으로 인식되고 있으며, 그중에서도 지형지물 및 속성부호에 관한 표준화가 가장 시급하고 중요하다는 의견이 국가 GIS 추진위원회 표준화 분과에서 토의된 바 있다. 국제적으로 통용되고 있는 GIS 교환표준의 지형지물 및 속성부호 체계를 분석하는 것은 이러한 시점에서 의미가 있으며, 따라서 본 논문에서는 NATO 국가를 중심으로 한 교환 표준인 DIGEST(Digital Geographic Information Exchange Standard), 미연방 GIS 교환 표준인 SDTS(Spatial Data Transfer Standard) 그리고 국제수로협회(IHO)를 중심으로 친자해도를 위한 교환표준인 SP-57(DX-90) 각각에 대한 지형지물 및 속성부호를 분석하였다. 이 분석결과를 토대로 한국 실정에 맞는 적절한 부호체계에 관해 제안하고자 한다. 응용분야에 따라 지형지물과 속성의 종류가 서로 다를 수 있으나 부호를 정하는 규칙을 통일함으로써 지형도, 지적도, 해도뿐 마니라 식생도, 지질도, 교통지도 및 그 외 각종 주제도를 포함하는 GIS 관련한 다양한 분야에 대해서도 일관된 방식으로 확장 적용 가능하도록 제안하고 있다.
