The Relationship among Life-satisfaction, Self-neglect, Psychological Well-Being of the Elderly

노인의 생활만족도, 자기방임, 심리적 행복감에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship between the elderly's life satisfaction, self-neglect, and psychological well-being and to provide the basis for the development of mediation program to improve the psychological well-being of the elderly. The subjects of this study were 143 elderly persons who living in J city of G province. For data analysis, SPSS WIn 21.0 program was used to calculate real numbers, percentages, the mean values, and standard deviation values, and to conduct t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The subjects' psychological well-being was analyzed according to their general characteristics. As a result, their subjective well-being had a positive correlation with their life satisfaction (r=.841, p<.001), and had a negative correlation with their self-neglect (r=-.501, p<.001). As a result of stepwise regression analysis, the factors affecting the psychological well-being of the elderly were life satisfaction (β=.787, p<.001), income source (β=-.114, p=.028), and the explanatory power of these variables was 71.3%. In order to improve the psychological well-being of the elderly through the results of this study, it is necessary to prepare various social systems suitable for the characteristics of the elderly.

본 연구는 노인을 대상으로 생활만족도, 자기방임, 심리적 행복감의 관계를 확인하고 노인의 심리적 행복감을 향상시키기 위한 중재프로그램 개발하는데 필요한 근거를 마련하고자 시도되었다. 연구 참여자는 G도, J시에 거주하는 노인 143명으로 대상으로 하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS WIn 21.0 프로그램을 이용하여 실수, 백분율, 평균, 표준편차, t-test, ANOVA, 피어슨 상관관계, 다중 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 대상자의 심리적 행복감은 생활만족도와 양의 상관관계(r=.841, p<.001), 자기방임과는 음의 상관관계(r=-.501, p<.001)를 보였다. 다중 회귀분석 결과 노인의 심리적 행복감에 영향을 미치는 요인은 생활만족도(β=.787, p<.001)와 수입원(β=-.114, p=.028)으로 나타났으며, 이들 변수의 설명력은 71.3%로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 노인의 심리적 행복감을 향상시키기 위해 노인의 특성에 맞는 다양한 사회적 제도 마련이 필요하다.
