40nm의 해상도를 갖는 연 X-선 결상현미경 시스템의 광학계를 결정하였다. 연 X-선 장치에서의 대물렌즈로써 대상시료내에 빔 초점(focusing)를 위한 광학계로 두개의 Ellipsoid형 광하계로 설계하였다. 또한 접안렌즈로는 Fresnel zone plate로 하여 설계 및 제작하였다. 또한 연 X-선이 지나가는 빔 경로 상에 놓여진 다양한 물질들에 대한 각각의 X-선 광자의 조사선량을 계산하였다. 살아있는 세포를 관찰하고자하는 본 장치의 목적에 부합되기 위한 세포가 피폭되는 임계 방사선 조사선량의 관점에서 연 X-선의 선원의 세기와 검출기의 증폭효율을 고찰하였다. -

Eu
$^{2+}$ doped optical fibers were developed for magneto-optical application by use of CO gas as a reduction agent during MCVD process and the Verdet constant of the Eu$^{2+}$ doped fiber was found to be -0.819[rad/T${\cdot}$ m], which is three times larger than that of the Eu$^{3+}$ doped fiber. -

LUTCHI와 새로이 수집된 CII-Kwak 데이터를 이용하여 테스트한 결과 CIECAM02를 비롯해 현재까지 개발된 주된 color appearance model들이 몇 가지 중요한 color appearance 현상들을 설명하지 못한다는 것이 발견되었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하기위해 새로이 개발된 Kwak03 모델이 소개되었다. Kwak03 모델은 CIECAM02에 기초하고 있으나 achromatic signal에서 cone 신호들의 비율, dynamic response 함수 등 많은 면에서 큰 차이를 보인다. LUTCHI 및 CII-Kwak 데이터를 사용한 테스트 결과 Kwak03가 테스트된 모델들 중 특히 dark surround 하에서 휘도 및 배경색의 변화에 따른 색변화 예측에서 가장 우수한 결과를 보였다.

근접장 초해상 기술 중 대표적인 Super-RENS (Super Resolution Near Field Structure) 기술을 이용하여 25GB 용량의 BD(Blu-ray Disc) 다음 세대로 예상되는 100
${\sim}$ 200 GB 용량의 Media 및 기록 재생 기기를 개발하고자 한다. 현재까지 이 기술의 어려움이었던 Stability 특성은 10만회 재생 내구성을 확인하엿고 CNR (신호 대 잡음 비) 특성은 50 nm 미세 마크에 대하여 40 dB의 특성을 확보 하였다. 이 특성은 대략 75 GB에 대응하는 것으로 BD System을 그대로 사용하면서 달성한 세계 최고의 기록 밀도로 평가된다. 향후 과제는 Jitter. Error Rate등 실제 신호 특성의 확보로서, 이의 확보를 통하여 기술의 상품화 가능성이 확인될 것이다. -

LED를 이용한 차량용 signal lamp를 구현 하였다. 가변적인 전원전압 및 온도조건에서도 일정한 광량을 유지할 수 있도록 하였으며, 한편 단위 LED 사이의 특성 차이로 인한 밝기의 불균일성을 줄일 수 있도록 하기 위하여 펄스폭 변조를 응용한 회로를 적용하였다.

첩 광섬유 격자를 이용하여 10Gbit/s이상의 광통신 시스템에서 이용될 수 있는 광통신용가변 색분산 보상기를 제안하엿다. U형태의 구부림을 이용함으로써 중심 파장의 이동은 0.1nm미만, 분산값이 이동 스테이지의 움직임에 따라 선형적으로 변하는 가변분산보상기를 제작하였다.

Optical connector is prone to take environment attack since it is exposed to various environmental conditions. As the data bit rate is increased in the modern optical communication system. the stability of optical connector becomes more important issue in complex network comprising of many connection by connectors. In this research, to estimate the influence of defects of connector, especially surface scratches, on the transmission, surface scratches were intentionally introduced on the cross sectional surface of optical connector and the insertion loss, return loss. and BER were measured as functions of geometry and density of scratches, Environmental conditioning was also performed onto these connectors and the variations of basic optical characteristics mentioned above were measured. Based on this measurement the lifetime of connectors was estimated by statistical prediction method. -

The multiplication region of an APD(Avalanche photodiode) plays a critical role in determining the gain, the multiplication noise, and the gain-bandwidth product. we compared and analyzed the local model and the non-local model for a 10Gb/s APD designing.

We have developed a 10 Gbps receiver consist of an InGaAs PIN PD and an embedded TIA(transimpedance preamplifier). The receiver is assembled in a small form factor (SFF) Package. It shows f-3dB of 10 GHz and the sensitivity more than -20 dBm at 10$^{-10}$ BER (bit-error-rate) for 10 Gbps optical input signal of 2$^{31}$ -1 PRBS (pseudo-random-bit-sequence). -
GaAs 기판 위에 성장된 열구동 MEMS형 파장가변 필터 구조를 이용하여 제작 과정이 간단하면서도 구동 전압 1.7 V, 소비전력 0.92 mW만으로 69 nm의 파장가변이 가능한 저전압, 저소비전력 필터 소자를 구현하였다.

The performance of the InGaAs/InP avalanche photodidodes operated in Geiger-mode was investigated for 1550nm wavelengths at room temperature. We find the optimal operating points where the high quantum detection efficiency and low dark current are achieved. For the optical pulse detection, the gated-mode is used to reduce the dark current.

A Signal processor for the open-loop fiber optic gyroscope(FOG) is equipped with a stabilizer to reduce the error due to drift of fiber phase modulator (FPM). The stabilizer is designed to be operated to maintain the ratio of amplitude and phase between harmonics in the FOG signal. When FPM stabilizer is used, the temperature drift of FOG is reduced to less than 0.5 deg/hr in change of 20
$^{\circ}C$ . -
We propose and theoretically analyze multi-functional integrated optical device based on figure-eight shaped birefringent Sagnac loops. Our analysis shows that the propose device exhibit many unique features which allows it to operate as a tunable high-Q comb filter with a good channel isolation, and the intensity transmission of the filter can be varied from zero to 100 percent.

The optical gain saturation and noise figure characteristics of 1550nm traveling-wave semiconductor optical amplifiers are analyzed experimentally and theoretically. The result shows that there is an optimum active layer thickness for high saturation output power and low noise figure. -

An atomization doping process is proposed to manufacture nonlinear optical fiber containing higher concentration of PbTe nano-particles in the core of the fiber than that by the conventional solution doping process. The absorption peaks appeared near 725nm, 880nm, and 1050nm are attributed to the PbTe quantum dots in the fiber core.

Birefringence due to structural irregularities in photonic crystal fiber is numerically analyzed. The statistical correlations between the birefringence and the degree of the irregularities are presented, and their behaviors are explained using a perturbation theory.

We propose and analyze a novel high-birefringence fiber incorporating an elliptical air hole in the core. Compared to solid elliptical core fibers, several times higher birefringence is achieved with a sub-wavelength-sized hole.
