A Study on Characteristics of Performance and $NO_x{\cdot}THC$ Emissions in Turbo Intercooler ECU Common-rail Diesel Engines with a Combined Plasma EGR System (플라즈마 EGR 조합시스템 터보 인터쿨러 ECU 커먼레일 디젤기관의 성능 및 $NO_x{\cdot}THC$ 배출물 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The aim in this study is to develop the combined EGR system with a non-thermal plasma reactor for reducing exhaust emissions and improving fuel economy in turbo intercooler ECU common-rail diesel engines. At the first step, in this paper, the characteristics of performance and $NO_x{\cdot}THC$ emissions under four kinds of engine loads are experimentally investigated by using a four-cycle, four-cylinder, direct injection type, water-cooled turbo intercooler ECU common-rail diesel engine with a combined plasma exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) system operating at three kinds of engine speeds. The EGR system is used to reduce $NO_x$ emissions, and the non-thermal plasma reactor and turbo intercooler system are used to reduce THC emissions. The plasma system is a flat-to-flat type reactor operated by a plasma power supply. The fuel is sprayed by pilot and main injections at the variable injection timing between BTDC $15^{\circ}$ and ATDC $1^{\circ}$ according to experimental conditions. It is found that the specific fuel consumption rate with EGR is increased, but the fuel economy is better than that of mechanical injection type diesel engine as compared with the same output. Results show that $NO_x$ emissions are decreased, but THC emissions are increased, as the EGR rate is elevated. $NO_x$ and THC emissions are also slightly decreased as the applied electrical voltage of the non-thermal plasma reactor is elevated. Thus one can conclude that the influence of EGR in $NO_x$ and THC emissions is larger than that of the non-thermal plasma reactor, but THC emissions are greatly influenced by the non-thermal plasma reactor as the EGR rate is elevated.

  • E-TPE (Engineering Thermoplastic Polyether Ester) was Ester Elastomer with functional groups as recycling and fast processability. In addition, if the car's lightweight enough to highlight eco-friendly materials that help to improve fuel economy has become. Have all the attributes of the rubber and engineering plastics E-TPE the available temperature area is spacious, heat resistance and oil resistance is excellent but getting attention as a new material in the field of auto parts in the field of electrical and electronic domestic depends entirely on imports by the lack of core technology and has been research and development is urgently needed. In this study, the hard segments, polyester (TPEE) as the base soft elastomers of the segments Ethylen-prophylene-Copolymer and CSM (Choloro sulphonated polyethylene Rubber), VAMAC (Ethylene Acrylic Rubber), NBR (Acrylonitrin Butadiene Rubber), 1, 3-Phenylene-bisoxazoline is dealing with Dynamic Vulcanized by content and added rubber properties, thermal variation observed. As a result, the properties of the dynamic vulcanization with NBR compared to other rubber heat resistance and oil resistance is on the increase.

  • As the internal combustion engine vehicles of high fuel efficiency and low emission are demanded, it becomes important to procure technologies for improving low-temperature performance of automotive catalyst systems. In this study, we showed that the combustion rate of diesel particulate matter is greatly enhanced at low temperature by applying fuel-borne catalyst and perovskite catalyst concurrently. It was tried to examine the correlation between elemental composition of perovskite catalyst and combustion activity of mixed catalyst system. To achieve this goal, we applied temperature-programmed oxidation technique in testing the combustion behavior of perovskite-mixed particulate matter bed which contained the element of fuel-borne catalyst or not. We tried to explain the synergetic action of two catalyst components by comparing the trends of concentrations of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide in temperature-programmed oxidation results.

  • The conventional natural gas engine realized lean combustion for the improved efficiency. However, in order to cope with exhaust gas regulations enforced gradually, the interest has shifted at the stoichiometric mixture combustion system. The stoichiometric mixture combustion method has the advantage of a three-way catalyst utilization whose purification efficiency is high, but the problem of thermal durability and the fuel economy remains as a challenge. Hydrogen-natural gas blend fuel (HCNG) can increase the rate of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) because the hydrogen increases burning speed and lean flammability limit. The increase in the EGR rate can have a positive impact on heat resistance of the engine due to the decreased combustion temperature, and further can increase the compression ratio for efficient combustion. In this study, to minimize the exhaust emission developed HCNG engine with stoichiometric combustion method, developed three-way catalyst was applied to evaluate the conversion characteristics. The tests were carried out during the steady state and transient operating conditions, and the results were compared for both the conventional and proto-three-way catalyst of HCNG engine for city buses.

  • 우리나라는 이제 그동안의 꾸준한 노력의 결과로 자동차 수출국으로 발돋움하고 있으며 이 분야 에서으 선진국과의 경쟁이 점점 치열해질 전망이다. 이러한 세계 시장에서의 경쟁 대열에서 탈 락되지 않기 위해서는 무엇보다도 제품 품질의 향상, 원가의 절감 등이 이루어져야 할 것이며 이 에 대한 노력을 게을리 해서는 안될 것이다. 한편 이와는 별도로 좀더 다른 각도에서 자동차 공업의 방향을 고찰할 필요가 있다. 즉 미래에도 계속해서 현재의 왕복동 내연기관이 자동차 구동용으로 사용될 것인가 하는 점이다. 엔진의 성능 향상, 연비의 감소, 엄격한 배기가스 규 제에의 대처 등에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있지만 기술개발에는 한계가 있으며 제품은 점점 복잡하게 되어 결국은 제품가격 및 A/S 비용이 상승되는 역효과를 나타낼 가능성이 높다. 이에 세계적인 자동차 제조회사에서는 오래전부터 새로운 방식의 미래형 자동차 engine 개발에 착수 하였으며 계속적인 연구를 진행하고 있다. 이러한 미래형 자동차 engine의 대표적인 것으로 gas turbine engine이 있다. 가스터어빈이라 하면 우선 항공기용의 jet engine을 생각하게 된다. 그 외에 발전용으로 가스터어빈은 이용되고 있으며 근래 다시 등장한 자동차용의turbocharger 역시 가스터어빈의 한 응용분야라고 할 수 있다. turbocharger의 경우는 내연기관의 출력향상을 주 목적으로 내연기관에 부착되어 이용되고 있는 반면에 gas turbine engine은 기존의 내연기관을 대체하여 자동차 구동용으로 이용되는 점에 그 차이가 있다. 아직은 실용화되징 않았지만 미래형 자동차 기관으로서의 이용가능성이 높은 gas turbine engine을 다음에 간략히 소개하고자 한다. 생산량과 하천수에 의한 생산량과의 비는 풍건물의 경우 0.6, 매물의 경우 0.5였으며 감자의 경우는 0.2이하였다. 4. 염분용수 관개구와 하천수 관개구의 모든작물에서 풍건물 생산량과 축배량 사이에는 강한 직선적인 관계를 보였다. 보리, 감자의 작물 생산량과 축배량사이에도 선형의 관계가 성립되었으나, 밀과 옥수수의 매물 생산량과 축배량사이에는 곡선적인 관계를 나타내었다..18cm)에 필적되는 연평균 4.16cm로 나타났다. 5. 전체 시험구로부터으 연평균 토양유실량은 Sharpsburg 점질양토에 대한 S.C.S 한계허용치 10ton/ha/year 이내로 나타났다. 비처리구에서의 토양유실량은 평균 2.56ton/ha/year로 높게 나타난 반면 3개의 서로 다른 추리구인 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass구에서는 각각 0.152, 0.192 및 0.290ton/ha/year로 낮은 결과를 가져왔다. 6. 평균 침전량에 대한 L.S.D. 검정 걸과 전시험구중 비처리구가 고도의 유의차를 나타낸 반면 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass 목초구 간에는 아무런 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 7. 농지보전 처리구인 배수구와 초생수로구는 비처리구에 비해 낮은 침두 유출량과 낮은 토양유실량을 나타내었다.구보다 14% 절감되는 것으로 나타났다.작용하는 것으로 사료된다.된다.정량 분석한 결과이다. 시편의 조성은 33.6 at% U, 66.4 at% O의 결과를 얻었다. 산화물 핵연료의 표면 관찰 및 정량 분석 시험시 시편 표면을 전도성 물질로 증착시키지 않고, Silver Paint 에 시편을 접착하는 방법으로도 만족한 시험 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.째, 회복기 중에 일어나는 입자들의 유입은 자기폭풍의 지속시간을 연장시키는 경향을 보이며 큰

  • Exhaust regulations of automobile are being reinforced increasingly as environmental problems issues came to the fore by industrial development. However, it is known that the exhaust emission is not only influenced by the system of automobile but also the fuel properties. In particular, high-performance engines have required high-performance fuels with high lubricity as CRDI engines(diesel engine) have been developed and commercialized. This paper have examined that the fuel property variations affect a major parts and an exhaust gas of automobile. It was confirmed that the high pressure pump, the injector and the DPF(diesel particulate filter) were damaged and fuel efficiency was get worse due to use the fuel of lacking lubricity property($651{\mu}m$/quality standard: less in $400{\mu}m$). In addition, through an iron component was detected in the broken DPF, it was estimated that the breakage of the DPF was caused by the excessive exhaust of the particulate matter due to the iron component of the fuel.

Short-Term Impact Analysis of DTG Installation for Commercial Vehicles (사업용 자동차의 DTG 설치 단기 효과분석)

  • Recently, various alternatives for safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles have been considered, and one of the new alternatives is the application of a digital tachograph. In Korea, the installation of a digital tachograph to commercial vehicles was regulated from 2011 and Korea Transportation Safety Authority developed e-TAS to analyze the monitoring data from digital tachographs installed in the order of 100 commercial vehicles. This study performs the potential impact analysis of the DTG installation, which includes a trend of dangerous driving, a trend of traffic accidents and cost-effective analysis, a trend of fuel consumption and cost-effective analysis, a cost-effective analysis of social benefits using e-TAS data. Depending on the frequency of dangerous driving, the participants are divided into three groups; high-dangerous group, average-dangerous group and low-dangerous group. The high-dangerous driving group shows lower km/liter than the low-dangerous driving group by 15% for buses and taxis and by 30% for trucks. About $CO_2$ emission, the difference becomes bigger; 25%, 25% and 42% for buses, taxis and trucks, respectively. Although this study is a short-term period analysis, the methodology will be applicable for the long-term period analysis with larger data.

  • SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber; 25 wt% of solid contents) nanocomposites reinforced with OLS(organically modified layered silicates) were manufactured via the latex method. Two types of OLS are prepared, i.e. dodecylamine (primary amine) modified montmorillonite (DA-MMT) and N, N-dimethyldodecylamine (tertiary amino) modified MMT (DDA-MMT). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed to characterize the layer distance of OLS and the morphology of the nanocomposites. SBR nanocomposites reinforced with ternary phase filler (carbon black/silica/OLS) systems also manufactured. Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) was performed on these composites to determine the loss factor (tan $\delta$) over a range of temperature($-20^{\circ}C{\sim}80^{\circ}C$). The results showed that there was significant changes on the values or tan $\delta$ with the addition of small amount of the OLS. By increasing the contents of OLS, the values of tan $\delta$ at $0^{\circ}C$ increased but those of tan $\delta$ at $60^{\circ}C$ decreased with increasing OLS contents.

Conductive Properties of Thermoplastic Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics Highly Filled with Carbon Fiber Fabrics and Conductive Carbon Fillers (탄소섬유 직물 및 전도성 탄소 필러가 고충진 된 열가소성 탄소섬유강화플라스틱의 전도 특성)

  • The application of lightweight structural composites to automobiles as a solution in line with global fuel economy regulations to curb global warming is recognized as a megatrend. This study was conducted to provide a technical approach that can respond to the issue of replacing parts that require conductive properties to maximize the application of thermoplastic carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs), which are advantageous in terms of repair, disposal and recycling. By utilizing the properties of the low-viscosity polymerizable oligomer matrix, it was possible to prepare a thermoplastic CFRP exhibiting excellent impregnation properties while uniformly mixing the conductive filler. Various carbon-based conductive fillers such as carbon black, carbon nanotubes, graphene nanoplatelets, graphite, and pitch-based carbon fibers were filled up to the maximum content, and electrical and thermal conductive properties of the fabricated composites were compared and studied. It was confirmed that the maximum incorporation of filler was the most important factor to control the conductive properties of the composites rather than the type or shape of the conductive carbon filler. Experimental results were observed in which it might be advantageous to apply a one-dimensional conductive carbon filler to improve electrical conductivity, whereas it might be advantageous to apply a two-dimensional conductive carbon filler to improve thermal conductivity. The results of this study can provide potential insight into the optimization of structural design for controlling the conductive properties of thermoplastic CFRPs.

Development of Lightweight Composite Sub-frame in Automotive Chassis Parts Considering Structure & NVH Performance (구조 및 NVH 성능을 고려한 복합재료 서브프레임 개발)

  • Recently, according to environmental regulations, the automobile industry has been conducting various research on the use of composite materials to increase fuel efficiency. However, there has not been much research on lightweight chassis components. Therefore, in this research, the purpose of this study is to apply composite materials to the sub-frame of chassis components to achieve equivalent levels of stiffness, strength, NVH performance and 50% lightweight compared to the steel sub-frame. First, the Natural frequency of steel and composite specimens was compared to the damping characteristics of composite materials. Then, in this study, the Lay-up Sequence was derived to maximize the stiffness and strength of the sub-frame by applying composite materials. And this lay-up Sequence is proposed to avoid heat shrinkage due to curing during manufacturing. This process was designed based on a FEM structural analysis, and a Natural frequency and frequency response function graph was confirmed based on a modal analysis. The prototype type composite sub-frame was manufactured based on the design and the F.E.M analysis was verified through a modal experiment. Furthermore, it was fitted to the actual vehicle to verify the natural frequency and the indoor noise vibration response, including idling and road noise. This result was confirmed to be equivalent to the steel sub-frame. Finally, the composite sub-frame weight was confirmed to be about 50% of the steel sub-frame.
