Cost Estimation of Case-Based Reasoning Using Hybrid Genetic Algorithm - Focusing on Local Search Method Using Correlation Analysis - (혼합형 유전자 알고리즘을 적용한 사례기반추론 공사비예측 - 상관분석을 이용한 지역탐색 기법을 중심으로 -)

  • Estimates of project costs in the early stages of a construction project have a significant impact on the operator's decision-making in important matters, such as the site's decision or the construction period. However, it is difficult to carry out the initial stage with confidence because information such as design books and specifications is not available. In previous studies, case-based reasoning was used to predict initial construction costs, and genetic algorithms were used to calculate the weight of the inquiry phase among them. However, some say that it is difficult to perform better than the current year because existing genetic algorithms are calculated in random numbers. To overcome these limitations, correlation numbers using correlation analysis rather than random numbers are reflected in the genetic algorithm by method of local search, and weights are calculated using a hybrid genetic algorithm that combines local search and genetic algorithms. A case-based reasoning model was developed using the weights calculated and validated with the data. As a result, it was found that the hybrid GA-CBR applied with local search performed better than the existing GA-CBR.

  • 컴퓨터 전략 시뮬레이션 게임 설계에서는 Master ADU(Artificial Decision Unit)의 전략 수립을 위한 방법으로 다양한 기법들이 연구되고 있다. 특히 한정된 자원 하에서 게임을 사실적이고 지적인 기능을 구현하기 위해 치팅(Cheating)을 활용하거나 간단한 인공지능 기법이 적용되고 있다. 하지만 이 기법들은 사용자 적응성 및 전략 수립의 단순성을 야기하는 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전략 시뮬레이션 게임의 전략 수립 에이전트인 Master ADU(Artificial Decision Unit)를 위하여 셀룰라 오토마타의 초기 규칙 생성에 유전자 알고리즘의 교배 및 돌연변이, 적합도 평가를 거친 유전자 형을 적용한 혼합형 전략 수립 기법을 제안한다 이 기법은 ADU가 적합한 유전자 형을 생산 및 선택하여 사용자에 대해 적극적으로 학습할 수 있었다.

Study on the Optimal Selection of Rotor Track and Balance Parameters using Non-linear Response Models and Genetic Algorithm (로터 트랙 발란스(RTB) 파라미터 최적화를 위한 비선형 모델링 및 GA 기법 적용 연구)

  • This paper intends to develop the rotor track and balance (RTB) algorithm using the nonlinear RTB models and a real-coded hybrid genetic algorithm. The RTB response data computed using the trim solutions with variation of the adjustment parameters have been used to build nonlinear RTB models based on the quadratic interpolation functions. Nonlinear programming problems to minimize the track deviations and the airframe vibration responses have been formulated to find optimum settings of balance weights, trim-tab deflections, and pitch-link lengths of each blade. The results are efficiently resolved using the real-coded genetic algorithm hybridized with the particle swarm optimization techniques for convergence acceleration. The nonlinear RTB models and the optimized RTB parameters have been compared with those computed using the linear models to validate the proposed techniques. The results showed that the nonlinear models lead to more accurate models and reduced RTB responses than the linear counterpart.

A Hybrid Genetic Algorithm Using Epistasis Information for Sequential Ordering Problems (서열순서화문제를 위한 상위정보를 이용하는 혼합형 유전 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new hybrid genetic algorithm for sequential ordering problem (SOP). In the proposed genetic algorithm, the Voronoi quantized crossover (VQX) is used as a crossover operator and the path-preserving 3-Opt is used as a local search heuristic. VQX is a crossotver operator that uses the epistasis information of given problem instance. Since it is a crossover proposed originally for the traveling salesman problem (TSP), its application to SOP requires considerable modification. In this study, we appropriately modify VQX for SOP, and develop three algorithms, required in the modified VQX, named Feasible solution Generation Algorithm, Precedence Cycle Decomposition Algorithm, and Genic Distance Assignment Method. The results of the tests on SOP instances obtained from TSPLIB and ZIB-MP-Testdata show that the proposed genetic algorithm outperforms other genetic algorithms in stability and solution quality.

  • We have experienced a substantial improvement in and cost-drop for genotyping that enables genetic epidemiological studies with large-scale genetic data. Genome-wide association studies have identified more than ten thousand causal variants. Many statistical methods based on linear mixed models have been developed for various goals such as estimating heritability and identifying disease susceptibility locus. Empirical results also repeatedly stress the importance of linear mixed models. Therefore, we review the statistical methods related with to linear mixed models and illustrate the meaning of their estimates.

  • Recently, the advanced condition monitoring methods such as the model-based method and the artificial intelligent method have been applied to maximize the availability as well as to minimize the maintenance cost of the aircraft gas turbines. Among them the non-linear GPA(Gas Path Analysis) method and the GA(Genetic Algorithms) have lots of advantages to diagnose the engines compared to other advanced condition monitoring methods such as the linear GPA, fuzzy logic and neural networks. Therefore this work applies both the non-linear GPA and the GA to diagnose AE3007 turbofan engine for an aircraft, and in case of having sensor noise and bias it is confirmed that the GA is better than the GPA through the comparison of two methods.

  • To fulfill the complex user requirement, composition web service comprised of existing services is considered from the efficient and reusable point of view instead of making entirely new web service. However, with the growing the number of web services which provide the same functionality but differ in quality value, the service composition becomes a decision problem on which component services should be selected such that end-to-end QoS constraints by the client and overall QoS of the composition service are satisfied. QoS of service aspects is a determinant factor for selecting the services, since the performance of the composed service is determined by the performance of the involved component web service. In this paper, hybrid genetic algorithm is presented to select component services to take part in the QoS-aware composition. The local search method is used to be combined with the genetic algorithm to improve the individuals (component service) in population as well as composed service. The paper also presents a set of experiments conducted to evaluate the efficiency of selection algorithm using the real web service data.

An Improved Multi-level Optimization Algorithm for Orthotropic Steel Deck Bridges (강바닥판교의 개선된 다단계 최적설계 알고리즘)

  • Since an orthotropic steel deck bridge has large number of design variables and shows complex structural behavior, it would be very difficult and impractical to directly use a Conventional Single Level (CSL) optimization algorithm for its optimum design. Thus, in this paper, an Improved Multi Level Design Synthesis (IMLDS) optimization algorithm is proposed to improve the computational efficiency. In the proposed IMLDS algorithm, a coordination method is introduced to divide the bridge into main girders and orthotropic steel deck with preserving the characteristics of the structural behavior. For an efficient optimization of the bridge, the IMLDS algorithm incorporates the various crucial approximation techniques such as constraints deletion, Automatic Differentiation (AD), stress reanalysis, and etc. In the case of orthotropic steel deck system, optimum design problems are characterized by mixed continuous discrete variables and discontinuous design space. Thus, a modified Genetic Algorithm (GA) is also applied to optimize discrete member design for orthotropic steel deck. From the numerical example, the efficiency and convergency of the IMLDS algorithm proposed in this paper is investigated. It may be positively stated that the IMLDS algorithm will lead to more effective and practical design compared with previous algorithms.

  • This study is concerned with developing a heuristic for a web-based vehicle routing problem using mixed genetic algorithm(VRPMGA) which determines each vehicle route in order to minimize the transportation costs, subject to meeting the demands of all delivery points. VRP is known to be NP-hard, and it needs a lot of computing time to get the optimal solution, so that heuristics are more frequently developed than optimal algorithms. This study aims to develop a mixed genetic algorithm by partitioned strategy which can give a good solution in comparatively brief time. The good features of the VRPMGA are, fristly, the ability of early convergence and, secondly, the capability of producing multiple, alternative, and near-optimal solutions. The VRPMGA is a useful algorithm that can be appliable to VRP and TSP. Finally, the computational test were performed using the benchmark problems and the proposed heuristic is compared with the other existing algorithms (COSA). The result of computational tests shows that proposed heuristic gives good solutions, in much shorter time, which are same as the best known solutions in the pervious research.

3-Dimensional Free Form Design Using an ASMOD (ASMOD를 이용한 3차원 자유 형상 설계)

  • This paper presents the process generating the 3-dimensional free f o r m hull form by using an ASMOD(Adaptive Spline Modeling of Observation Data) and a hybrid curve approximation. For example, we apply an ASMOD to the generation of a SAC(Sectiona1 Area Curve) in an initial hull form design. That is, we define SACS of real ships as B-spline curves by a hybrid curve approximation (which is the combination method of a B-spline fitting method and a genetic algorithm) and accumulate a database of control points. Then we let ASMOD learn from the correlation of principal dimensions with control points and make the ASMOD model for SAC generation. Identically, we apply an ASMOD to the generation of other hull form characteristic curves - design waterline curve, bottom tangent line, center profile line. Conclus~onally we can generate a design hull form from these hull form characteristic curves.
