This letter proposes a new near-lossless image compression method with only one line buffer cost for a digital camera with Bayer format image. For such format data, it can provide a low average compression rate (4.24bits/pixel) with high-image quality (larger than 46.37dB where the error of every pixel is less than two). The experimental results show that the near-lossless compression method has better performance than JPEG-LS (lossless) with ${\delta}$ = 2 for a Bayer format image.
Anisotropy of stiffness, from extremely small strains to post-failure strains, of isotropically consolidated air-pluviated sands in plane strain compression was studied by using the newly developed instrumentation for small strain measurements. Seven types of sand of the world-wide origins were tested, which have been extensively used for research purposes. Stress-strain at the specimen boundaries. It was found that the maximum Young's modulus $E_{max}$ was irrespective of the angle $\delta$ of the $\delta_1$ direction relative to the bedding plane. However, the normalized$ E_{max}$ was varied with the types of sand. Furthermore, the dependency of the strain and stress level on the stiffness was increased as $\delta$ decreased.
The foam of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/styrene-vinyl isoprene-styrene triblock copolymer(SVIS) blend was prepared to improve the shock-absorption and compression set characteristics at room temperature. The effects of blowing agent and blend ratio of EVA/SVIS on expansion ratio, cell structure and mechanical properties of the foam were investigated. As the SVIS content increased, the viscosity of blends was increased but the crosslinking rate was slow down, the expansion ratio was decreased. and the specific gravity was increased. At room temperature, the resilience was not affected by increasing the amount of blowing agent. The value of tan ${\delta}$ was increased by increasing the amount of SVIS. As a result, the value of compression set was decreased. This is due to the increased values of specific gravity and crosslinking density of the EVA/SVIS foam.
In this study, an interpretation method is proposed to evaluate the stress conditions, including individual excess pore pressure components ($\Delta{u}_{oct}$/ and $\Delta{u}_{shear}$), of normally consolidated clay elements adjacent to the cone face. It is assumed that the stress path of triaxial compression is representative f3r that of the soil element and the soil is elastic-perfectly plastic material. The proposed method is applied to the results of miniature piezocone tests conducted at Louisiana State University calibration chamber system. Based on the results of interpretation, it was found that the ratio of $\Delta{u}_{oct}$/ $\Delta{u}$and $\Delta{u}_{shear}$/$\Delta{u}$ estimated by the proposed method is affected only by the pore pressure parameter. The proposed method gives consistent and reliable values of $\Delta{u}_{oct}$/ $\Delta{u}$and $\Delta{u}_{shear}$/$\Delta{u}$ compared with early works, whereas those obtained by other solutions are significantly dependent on the accuracy in estimating soil properties such as undrained shear strength and rigidity index.

The compression index is one of the geotechnical properties which represent the compressibility of clay. The compression index are generally obtained from consolidation tests, otherwise it has been predicted by soil properties due to the efficiency time and cost. In this study, consolidation tests result for Busan and Inchon clays are analyzed to suggest the correlations between the compression index and soil properties. It is found that the compression index is well correlated with the void ratio and natural water contents. The prediction errors, which is difference of compression indices between measured from consolidation test and predicted by liquid limits, decrease with ${\Delta}e_0/e_L$.
In this study, theoretical and experimental results are presented which were obtained during an investigation of the influence of the $P-{\Delta}$ effect that was caused by the simultaneous changing of the axial load P of the column and the lateral displacement ${\Delta}$ in the external beam-column joints. The increase or decrease of ${\Delta}$ was simultaneous with the increase or decrease of the axial compression load P and caused an additional influence on the aseismic mechanical properties of the joint. A total of 12 reinforced concrete exterior beam-column subassemblies were examined. A new model, which predicts the beam-column joint ultimate shear strength, was used in order to predict the seismic behaviour of beam-column joints subjected to earthquake-type loading plus variable axial load and $P-{\Delta}$ effect. Test data and analytical research demonstrated that axial load changes and $P-{\Delta}$ effect during an earthquake cause significant deterioration in the earthquake-resistance of these structural elements. It was demonstrated that inclined bars in the joint region were effective for reducing the unfavourable impact of the $P-{\Delta}$ effect and axial load changes in these structural elements.
TiC-21 mol% Mo solid solution (${\delta}$-phase) and TiC-99 mol% Mo solid solution (${\beta}$-phase), and TiC-(80~90) mol% Mo hypo-eutectic composite were deformed by compression in a temperature range from room to 2300 K and in a strain rate range from $4.9{\times}10^{-5}$ to $6.9{\times}10^{-3}/s$. The deformation behaviors of the composites were analyzed from the strengths of the ${\delta}$- and ${\beta}$-phases. It was found that the high strength of the eutectic composite is due primarily to solution hardening of TiC by Mo, and that the ${\delta}$-phase undergoes an appreciable plastic deformation at and above 1420 K even at 0.2% plastic strain of the composite. The yield strength of the three kinds of phase up to 1420 K is quantitatively explained by the rule of mixture, where internal stresses introduced by plastic deformation are taken into account. Above 1420 K, however, the calculated yield strength was considerably larger than the measured strength. The yield stress of ${\beta}$-phase was much larger than that of pure TiC. A good linear relationship was held between the yield stress and the plastic strain rate in a double-logarithmic plot. The deformation behavior in ${\delta}$-phase was different among the three temperature ranges tested, i.e., low, intermediate and high. At an intermediate temperature, no yield drop occurred, and from the beginning the work hardening level was high. At the tested temperature, a good linear relationship was held in the double logarithmic plot of the yield stress against the plastic strain rate. The strain rate dependence of the yield stress was very weak up to 1273 K in the hypo-eutectic composite, but it became stronger as the temperature rose.
Frictional sounds of 8 vapor permeable water repellent fabrics by sound generator were recorded and analyzed through FFT fast Fourier transform analysis. The frictional Sounds were quantified by calculating level pressure of total sound(LPT), the level range(${\Delta}L$) and the frequency difference(${\Delta}f$). Mechanical properties were measured by KES-FB. LPT values of specimens finished wet coating were higher than those of other kinds of finishing. ${\Delta}L$ values of specimens laminated were highest. Absolute values of ${\Delta}f$ were high in the cire finished and laminated specimens. Values for bending rigidity, shear stiffness and energy required for the compression of coated specimens increased compared with the cire finished and laminated specimens. Laminated specimens had high values of frictional coefficient and low values of surface roughness. Relationship between frictional sounds and mechanical properties analysed by use of correlation coefficients and stepwise regression. LPT showed significant correlation with elongation, tensile energy, geometrical roughness, weight and thickness. ${\Delta}L$ was highly correlated with tensile linearity, frictional coefficient, and ${\Delta}f$ with tensile linearity, weight and thickness. LPT were revealed to be explained by elongation and weight. ${\Delta}L$were predicted by tensile linearity, and ${\Delta}f$ by tensile linearity and thickness.
