  • This study was conducted as a basic study for the selection of tags suitable for logistics management in the palletized unit-load unit and the development of various technologies to activate the palletized unit-load shipment of agricultural products through local APCs. Three types of passive RFID tags of UHF 900 MHz and one type of active RFID tag of 2.4 GHz band designed and manufactured through this study were used to analyze the receiving strength according to the tag's attachment location and distance of the palletized unit-load of agricultural products. In the passive RFID tag, there was a large difference in receiving strength by the tag's attachment location and a large amount of data loss depending on the distance within 30 m, whereas, in the active RFID tag, it was superior to the passive tags in terms of both receiving strength and data loss. Therefore, active tags are desirable from the perspective of multiple identification of warehouses with large spaces in relation to the application of RFID tags for palletized unit-loads of agricultural products, but the development of low-power technologies such as software wakeup power management as well as hardware to minimize battery power consumption is necessary.

  • Both EPCglobal Generation-2 (Gen2) for passive RFID systems and Intelleflex for semi-passive RFID systems use probabilistic slotted ALOHA with Q algorithm, which is a kind of dynamic framed slotted ALOHA (DFSA), as the tag anti-collision algorithm. A better tag anti-collision algorithm can reduce collisions so as to increase the efficiency of tag identification. In this paper, we introduce and analyze the estimation methods of the number of slots and tags for DFSA. To increase the efficiency of tag identification, we propose two new tag anti-collision algorithms, which are Chebyshev's inequality (CHI) algorithm and hybrid Q algorithm, and compare them with the conventional Q algorithm and adaptive adjustable framed Q (AAFQ) algorithm, which is mentioned in Part I. The simulation results show that AAFQ performs the best in Gen2 scenario. However, in Intelleflex scenario the proposed hybrid Q algorithm is the best. That is, hybrid Q provides the minimum identification time, shows the more consistent collision ratio, and maximizes throughput and system efficiency in Intelleflex scenario.

  • Under passive RFID environment, this paper presents a new localization of a mobile robot traversing over the floor covered with tags, which is superior to existing methods in terms of estimation performance and cost effectiveness. Basically, it is assumed that a mobile robot is traveling along a series of straight line segments, each segment at a certain constant velocity, and that the number of tags sensed by a mobile robot at each sampling instant is at most one. First, for a given line segment with known starting point, the velocity and position of a mobile robot is estimated using the spatial and temporal information acquired from the traversed tag. Some discussions are made on the validity of the basic assumptions and the localization for the initial segment with unknown starting point. Second, for a given tag distribution density, the optimal tag arrangement is considered to reduce the position estimation error as well as to make easy the tag attachment on the floor. After reviewing typical tag arrangements, the pseudorandom tag arrangement is devised inspired from the Sudoku puzzle, a number placement puzzle. Third, through experiments using our passive RFID localization system, the validity and performance of the mobile robot localization proposed in this paper is demonstrated.

  • A tag sequence estimation scheme is to estimate the physical sequence of passive RFID tags that are linearly spread using the movement of a RFID reader. Since RFID readers communicate with the passive tags by very weak radio waves, scanning passive tags are unstable. In this paper, we applied round-trip scanning of a reader to enhance the tag sequence estimation. Proposed scheme first determines the turning point of the reader movement, and then estimates the sequence of the tags using the tag sets scanned in each read cycles. Test experiments show that the proposed scheme can improve the estimation accuracy.

  • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a technique which is used for identifying different types of objects and tracking people and animals. Passive RFID consists of reader, a passive tag. The reader transmit energy to a tag and read information back from tag. The tag is energized by a carrier frequency which is transmitted by the reader and transmit information back to the reader. In this paper, the circuit for read and write RFID system is presented. The presented RFID system adopts 125kHz carrier frequency, backscattering and PSK for communication method.

  • This paper presents method of depriving the relationship between static passive RFID tag and mobile robot In the field of tag-range. We use probabilistic sensor model of RFID reader by experiments. And we proposed estimation techniques by using direction of identification and relative-distance from the sensor model. Corresponding to distribution of identification, we can correct estimated tag position in relative coordinate. Simulation and Experimental Results show that the proposed method can provide good performance and thus be used fer mobile-robot localization.

  • This study, in particular, aims to regulate the core techniques of ubiquitous computing, such as the use of an ad hoc network and the smart-tag technique, and to look more closely into RFID Tag's smart-tag-related security service. The study aims to do so because several important technical factors and structures must be taken into account for RFID Tag to be applied in the ubiquitous-computing-related infrastructure, and the security of the tag is considered one of the core technologies. To realize secure ubiquitous computing in the case of the Passive-tag-Performing RF communication, a less costly security service, the technical items needed to carry this out, a security service to be applied to passive tags, and network management techniques are required. Therefore, the passive-tag-based networks as the authentication level is established based on the secure authentication of each tag and the service that the tag delivers in the passive-tag-based networks and as the same service and authentication levels are applied, and the active-tag-based network system proposed herein is not merely a security service against illegal RFID tags by performing a current-location and service registration process after the secure authentication process of the active RFID tag, but is also a secure protocol for single and group services, is proposed in this study.

  • RFID technology using the smart tag technology as a part of the sensor network is currently in the spotlight. But there are still many problems in applying the technology in a ubiquitous environment, induding at the point when anybody can read the tag information and the authentication between the tag and the reader, and security problems in very low-cost smart tag implementation. The proposed scheme is designed to enhance security and efficiency related to various services required in RF networks, based on the reliable peripheral devices for users of passive RFID tag. Using passive RFID tag, which has been applied to authentication transactions in existing papers, this study also proposed an appropriate management scheme that is suitable for a dynamic environment and setting a temporary group to provide various services. also proposed scheme is support RFID grouping, temporary group of service and security servicce, improved efficiency of communication.
