Influencing Factors the Nurse Image Recognized by Nursing Students on Major Commitment (간호대학생이 인식하는 간호사 이미지가 전공몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to understand the nurse image and major commitment of nursing students, investigate their relationship, and prepare necessary measures to improve the major commitment of nursing students. The data were collected from 185 nursing students enrolled in seven nursing colleges and were analyzed statistically with the SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. The research results are as follows. It was confirmed that the more positive the nurse image perceived by the subject, the higher the major commitment. In addition, influencing factors the major commitment of nursing students identified in the order of major satisfaction, perception of nursing, nurse image, and aptitude and interest among nursing selection motives, and total explanatory power was 42%. Based on the above results, it is necessary to develop and apply a program including a positive nurse image for nursing students.

An analysis of the relationship among nursing students' perception of target advocacy, work value, and person-centered care (간호대학생이 지각한 대상자 옹호, 직업 가치 및 인간중심돌봄 간의 관계분석)

  • This study examined the relationship between target advocacy, work values, and person-centered care among nursing students, and attempted to provide basic data for the development of educational materials to improve fundamental ideology for nursing students. The data collection period was from July 1 to July 31, 2023. The questionnaires of 172 nursing students who were enrolled in universities located in cities D and S and agreed to participate in this study were analyzed. The results of the analysis showed that the influential factors on nursing students' person-centered care were target advocacy and work values, and the explanatory power of these variables was 23.5%. In conclusion, in order to improve nursing students' competence in person-centered care, it is necessary to identify the extent of their work values as nurses, compare and develop programs for the formation of positive work values, and improve their awareness of target advocacy, which is the fundamental philosophy of nursing.

The influencing factors of Optimism and Emotional Intelligence on Depression among undergraduate students (대학생의 낙관성, 감성지능이 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • This study quantified optimism, emotional intelligence, and depression levels, and explored potential key factors affecting the depression level in undergraduate students. We performed a survey targeting undergraduate students in two Universities at D city and S city, between April 8th and 30th of 2016. After receiving informed consent, a total of 166 university students were recruited. They were asked to fill in a self-reported questionnaire about optimism, emotional-intelligence, and depression. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS version 22.0. The data analysis results showed that the mean score for optimism was $3.67{\pm}0.51$, $3.66{\pm}0.49$, and $3.69{\pm}0.55$ for overall undergraduate students, undergraduate nursing students, and undergraduate non-nursing students, respectively. Moreover, the mean score of emotional intelligence was $3.56{\pm}0.49$, $3.53{\pm}0.49$, and $3.60{\pm}0.51$, respectively. In addition, the mean score of depression was $8.28{\pm}7.48$, $10.97{\pm}7.65$, and $5.50{\pm}5.54$, respectively. It was revealed that a strong negative correlation exists among optimism, emotional intelligence, and depression. This correlation was stronger for undergraduate nursing students than undergraduate non-nursing students. Optimism and emotional intelligence were key factors influencing depression. The degree of this influence was higher for undergraduate nursing students than undergraduate non-nursing students. In conclusion, a program that empowers optimism and emotional intelligence is necessary to manage depression for undergraduate students.

  • The research about nursing students' experience on the clinical environment observation is essential to developed effective strategy for clinical education and to improve quality for clinical practice of nursing education. This study is aimed to above goal by the report about nursing students' experience on emergency room environmental observation. The number of participants is 30 nursing students who are senior in the practicing at emergence room. Data analysis was centered on scrutinizing the contents of the participants' replies in order to deduce any relevant meaning. Also, data were analyzed by the meaning of learning based on self-examination through the practical learning. The positive and negative topics stated. Nursing students' experience on emergency room observation will supply the thinking about their own self-portrait in near future, and will give self reflection about correct nursing interventions to nursing students.

Effect of Self-Esteem, Ego-Resilience, Social Support on Nursing student's Adjustment to College (간호대학생의 자존감, 자아탄력성, 사회적지지가 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate level of Self-Esteem, Ego-Resilience, Social Support and School Adjustment and to explore the factors that contribute to the school adjustment of nursing students. Subjects were 437 nursing students of three different college which are located in Taegu city. The survey was conducted from October 9th to November 27th. 2011. The result indicated that the higher Self-Esteem, the higher Ego-Resilience and the higher Social Support are the better School Adjustment to nursing student. And it was found that the effects of Self-Esteem, Ego-Resilience and Social Support on School Adjustment was 40.4% and Self-Esteem had the greatest influences on their school adjustment in nursing students. According to the results of this study, we need to consider student's self-esteem in nursing curriculum and prepare to develop programs for advancement of self-esteem to help nursing students' School Adjustment.

The Effects of High Fidelity Simulation-Based Education on Communication Self-Efficacy, Communication Competence and Educational Satisfaction in Nursing Students (고충실도 시뮬레이션을 활용한 심정지 응급간호교육이 간호 대학생의 의사소통 자기 효능감, 의사소통능력 및 교육만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of high fidelity simulation-based education for cardiac arrest emergency nursing applied to nursing students on communication self-efficacy, communication competence, and educational satisfaction. For this study a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized post-test design was used. Participants were 42 nursing students who attended in one university and completed the self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, x2 test, and independent t-test using the SPSS 22.0 program. As a result, communication self-efficacy (t=2.87, p=.007), communication competence (t=2.96, p=.005) and educational satisfaction (t=4.75, p=<.001) were significantly higher than in the control group after high fidelity simulation-based education. High fidelity simulation-based education for cardiac arrest emergency nursing was able to improve communication self-efficacy, communication competence, and educational satisfaction for nursing students.

The Knowledge & Attitude on Tuberculosis for the Nursing Students in Daejeon, South Korea and Yanbien, China (한국과 중국 일 도시 간호 대학생의 결핵에 대한 지식과 태도)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge and attitude on tuberculosis for the nursing students in Daejeon, South Korea and Yanbien, China. A descriptive study was conducted. Data were collected from April to July of 2015 in each college and a total of 175 students assigned to 107 in Daejeon and 68 in Yanbien participated in the study. The data were analyzed by using the SPSS 21.0. There was no significant difference in knowledge and attitude on tuberculosis between the two groups. According to the results, in both groups, the mean score of knowledge and attitude was very low. In both groups, the correlation among knowledge, attitude and educational experience about tuberculosis was positive. In Daejeon nursing students, the attitude and gender explained about 15.3% and in Yanbien students, the attitude, grade explained about 40.2% in knowledge on tuberculosis. In Daejeon nursing students, the knowledge, health interest and educational experience explained about 23.5% and in Yanbien students, the knowledge and health interest explained about 23.9% in attitude on tuberculosis. Based on these findings, education which can guide nursing students to have correct information and positive attitude should be designed to manage tuberculosis infection. Therefore, it would be utilized in tuberculosis management education effectively for them.

Predictors of Regional Small and Medium Hospitals Choice among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 지역 중소병원 선택 예측요인)

  • This study was conducted to identify the predictors of the choice of regional small and medium hospitals by identifying the job preference, recognition of small and medium hospitals. For this purpose, data were collected from September 2018 to October 2018 for nursing students attending 4 universities in Gwangju and Jeollanam - do, and total of 476 questionnaires were analyzed using the SPSS / WIN 24.0 program. The results showed that 66.0% of nursing students selected region local small and medium hospitals. The factors influencing the choice of region small and medium hospitals were high school region, nursing school performance and recognition of small and medium hospitals. In order to increase the employment rate of nursing students to the region small and medium hospitals, nursing educators should provide personalized career guidance to students who want to work in small and medium hospitals and hospital personnel should establish various public relations activities and marketing strategies to raise recognition of small and medium hospitals.

Effect of the Quality of Education Service for Nursing Students on their Satisfaction and Willingness to Engage in a Specific Behavior (간호대학생의 교육서비스품질이 학생만족과 행동의지에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to verify how nursing students' willingness to behave in a specific way based on satisfaction is affected by the quality of nursing education service in terms of educational program, professor, educational environment, and reputation and employment. For this, the research conducted a questionnaire survey of 350 nursing students at one college in Gyeongnam, through which 321 sheets of the form were finally collected, and processed using the SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 Programs. Summarizing the findings of this study, each factor of the abovementioned quality had a significantly positive influence on nursing students' satisfaction. The biggest influential was reputation and employment, followed by educational program, educational environment, and professors. Also, that satisfaction significantly, positively affected those students' willingness to do specific behaviors. In conclusion, education services for nursing students require quality management which reflects relative differences in influential power among factors as mentioned above.

Images of Nurse Perceived by Nursing Students and Nurses: A Q-Methodological Approach (간호사와 간호대학생이 지각하는 간호사에 대한 이미지 : Q방법론 접근)

  • This study was conducted to determine the types of nurse's image in nurses and nursing students by using Q-methodology. Total 40 Q-samples were extracted from Q-population consisted of the 385 statements, which were collected from 135 nurses with more than one year clinical experience in H city and 250 nursing students at H university. The Q-sample classification was conducted by 10 nurses and 40 nursing students, and data were analyzed by using PQ method program. As results, the types of nurse's images were derived as 'textbooked', 'realistic' and 'periodic.' This study was meaningful in analyzing the types of nurse image from both nurses and nursing students. In order to improve the image of nurses, we propose not only to develop a systematic nursing curriculum but also to develop health and medical policies reflecting reality of care settings.
