Nonlinear Viscoelastic Analysis of Reticulated Spatial Truss Composed of Composite Materials (복합재료 그물형 공간 트러스의 점탄성적 비선형 해석)

  • The present study is concerned with the arc-length method in the investigation of the large deflection behavior of spatial structures with composite materials. This study should be able to trace the main equilibrium path by automatically varying the arc-length size of individual solution steps with the variation of the curvature of the nonlinear equilibrium path. A quasi-elastic method is used for the solution for viscoelastic analysis of the reticulated spatial structures. Elastic modulus of composite materials is defined by micro mechanical materials modeling method and nonlinear equilibrium path is traced with various load types. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the present strategies, numerical examples of reticulated spatial truss is given and compared with solutions using other methods.

  • In this paper are presented kinematic and dynamic modeling and path-tracking of four-wheeled mobile robots with 2 d.o.f haying the limited drive-torques. Controllability of wheeled-mobile robots is revealed by the kinematic model. Instantaneously coincident coordinate system, force/torque propagation and Newton's equilibrium law are used to drive the dynamic model. When drive-torques generated by inverse dynamics exceed the limitation, we make wheeled-mobile robots follow the reference path by modifying the planned reference trajectory with time-scaling. The controller is introduced to compensate for error owing to modeling uncertainty and measurement noise. And simulation results prove that method proposed by this paper is efficient.

  • The equilibrium path of shallow sinusoidal arches supported by hinges at both ends is investigated. The displacement increment method is used to get the solution of the nonlinear differential equations for these structures and to plot the equilibrium paths by the results. Using the equilibrium paths, the relations between the position of buckling point and buckling type for the case of sinusoidal distributed loads are inferred. From the result that the buckling type changes according to the normalized rise of arch, it is also shown that the arch rise is the governing factor to stability regions

  • This paper describes the quantitative analysis on the improvement of equilibrium sensory using virtual bicycle system. We have used a virtual bicycle system that combines virtual reality technology with a bicycle. In this experiment, 10 subjects were tested to investigate the influencing factors on equilibrium sensory. Straight road and curved road driving at several factors including cycling time, number of times of path deviation, and center of pressure(COP) were extracted and evaluated to quantify the extent of control. Also, To improve the effect of balance training, we investigated the usefulness of virtual feedback information by weight shift. The result showed that the system could be effective for equilibrium sensory rehabilitation training device. The analysis method might also have wider applicability to the rehabilitation field.

The effect of ankle joint mobilization technique on equilibrium ability in the individuals with supinated foot (회외발에 대한 족관절 관절가동술이 균형능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of ankle joint mobilization on equilibrium ability of supinated foot. Both Joint mobilization group(n=20) and control group(n=20) were measured an equilibrium ability by Balance performance monitor at pre-test, post-test in 2 weeks, post-test in 4 weeks and follow-up test in 2 weeks. The sway area, sway path length and sway maximum velocity of the joint mobilization group were significantly reduced among the experimental period (p<.05). The reduction of sway area, sway path length and sway maximum velocity were significantly different between the joint mobilization group and the control group at in 2 weeks, 4 weeks and follow-up test(p<.05). In conclusion, we were found that ankle joint mobilization could reduce sway area, sway path length and sway max velocity and improve a balance for the individuals with supinated foot.

  • In an urban network controlled by traffic signals, there is an interaction between the signal timing and the routes chosen by individual road users. This study develops a bi level programming model for traffic signal optimization in networks with path based traffic assignment. In the bi level programming model, genetic algorithm approach has been proposed to solve upper level problem for a signalized road network. Path based traffic assignment using column generation technique which is proposed by M.H. Xu, is applied at the lower-level. Genetic Algorithm provieds a feasible set of signal timings within specified lower and upper bounds signal timing variables and feeds into lower level problem. The performance of this model is investigated in numerical experiment in a sample network. In result, optimal signal settings and user equilibrium flows are made.

  • Characteristics of solutions of softening plasticity are discussed in this article. The localized and non-localized solutions are obtained for a three-bar truss and their stability is evaluated with the aid of the second-order work. Beyond the bifurcation point, the single stable loading path splits into several post-bifurcation paths and the second-order work exhibits several competing minima. Among the multiple post-bifurcation equilibrium states, the localized solutions correspond to the minimum points of the second-order work, while the non-localized solutions correspond to the saddles and local maximum points. To determine the real post-bifurcation path, it is proposed that the structure should follow the path corresponding to the absolute minimum point of the second-order work. The proposal is further proved equivalent to Bazant's path criterion derived on a thermodynamics basis.

  • Non-proportional loading tests of Nylon 66 at room temperature exhibit path dependent behavior and plasticity-relaxation interactions. The uniaxial formulation of the viscoplasticity theory based on overstress (VBO), which has been used to reproduce the nonlinear strain rate sensitivity, relaxation, significant recovery and cyclic softening behaviors of Nylon 66, is extended to three-dimensions to predict the response in strain-controlled, comer-path tests. VBO consists of a flow law that is easily written for either the stress or the strain as the independent variable. The flow law depends on the overstress, the difference between the stress and the equilibrium stress that is a state variable in VBO. The evolution law of the equilibrium stress in turn contains two additional state variables, the kinematic stress and the isotropic stress. The simulations show that the constitutive model is competent at modeling the deformation behavior of Nylon 66 and other solid polymers.

  • A delivery ship is used to handle the cargo with the crane to/from the ships. The ship is inclined in the direction of a cargo which is hung on a crane. In this case, a arc shaped rail should be in the equilibrium state to get good anti-rolling performance. In this study, a device and control algorithm are developed to take accurate and quick equilibrium of the rail. The device is composed of a hinged immovable support, screw jack and damper. And the control system is based on I-PD control law to consider of control input saturation and overshoot. The controller is composed of integral controller of feedforward path and proportional-derivative controller of feedback path. The parameters of controller is designed to follow the reference signal and to remove overshoot. The simulation results show that the desirable control performance is achieved.

A Study on the Stochastic User Equilibrium Assignment (확솔적 이용자 평형통행 배분에 관한 연구)

  • The behavioral mechanism underlying the traffic assignment model is a choice, or decision-making process of traveling paths between origins and destinations. The deterministic approach to traffic assignment assumes that travelers choose shortest path from their origin-destination pair. Although this assumption seems reasonable, it presumes that all travelers have perfect information regarding travel time, that they make consistently correct decision, and that they all behave in identical fashion. Stochastic user equilibrium assignment relaxes these presumptions by including a random component in traveler's perception of travel time. The objective of this study is to compare "A Model of Deterministic User Equilibrium Assignment" with "Models of Stochastic User Equilibrium Assignment" in the theoretical and practical aspects. Specifically, SUE models are developed to logit and probit based models according to discrete choice functions. The models were applied to sioux Falls net ork consisting of 24 zones, 24 nodes and 76 links. The distribution of perceived travel time was obtained by using the relationship between speed and traffic flow.
