  • The purpose of this study was to examine the predictive factors for health promotion behaviors of older adults in rural areas. A theoretical substruction was constructed to test hypothetical models based on Pender's health promotion model. The data was collected from 199 older adults aged 65 years or older, who resided in G city, by using a structured questionnaire. The questionnaires contained items on individual characteristics, health literacy, self efficacy and health promoting behavior. The data was analyzed with a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS 20.0 for Windows. The predictive factors for the health promotion behavior were the number of health information channels (β=.16, p=.031) and self efficacy (β=.53, p<.001). The total explanatory power of these factors was 30.8%. A nursing intervention plan for improving health promoting behaviors of older adults should be developed and applied, with a focus on self-efficacy and health information channels. Further longitudinal studies are needed to help confirm relevant measurement of the level of health promoting behaviors of older adults.

  • The aim of this study was to examine whether health promoting behavior was dependent on perceived health status and health attitude in adults, and whether health concern mediated the relationships among these variables. Structural equation modeling was applied to test a model in which perceived health status and health attitude were considered as exogenous variables while health concern as a mediating variable. The participants were 292 adults aged from 20 to 59 and completed the self-report measures. The results of the structural equation model showed that perceived health status and health attitude were positively associated with health concern and health promoting behavior. Health concern mediated the relationships between perceived health status and health promoting behavior, and also health attitude and health promoting behavior. The findings suggest that enhancing health attitude may play important roles to promote health promoting behavior in adults, and the development of various health education for adults in schools, work place, and health and medical organization might promote positive health attitude and health concern. Health education program in connection with preventive health examination also might contribute to activate health promoting behavior.

  • A study on the factors affecting oral health beliefs of some high school third graders on oral health promotion behavior After the oral health education on November 21, 2017, 160 students who explained and agreed on the study purpose and method were final analyzed. Oral health belief and oral health promotion behavior according to general characteristics were analyzed with t-test, one-way ANOVA, and the correlation with Pearson's correlation test. The convergence factors affecting oral health promotion were performed multiple regression analysis. The convergence factors affecting oral health promotion were performed multiple regression analysis. Oral health belief was the highest with 3.61 points, with 4.06 points of benefit, while oral health promotion with 3.25 points. Convergence factors affecting oral health improvement were shown as susceptibility (${\beta}=-0.210$), salienece(${\beta}=0.396$), seriousness(${\beta}=0.306$), and barrier(${\beta}=-0.170$). To explore ways to change the oral health beliefs of high school students, the school district health education is very important, and various oral health education programs to promote oral health promotion should be developed.

Data were collected from December 1 to December 31, 2018 and the participants included 340 university students, who responded to the question regarding health promotion behavior, family function and depression. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Spearman's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, mediation regression analysis of Baron and Kenny using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. As a result, A negative correlation is found between health promotion behavior and depression (r=-.48, p<.001), and positive correlation is among family function (r=33, p<.001), negative correlation is found between depression and family function (r=-.45, p<.001). family function have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between depression and health promotion behavior (Sobel test: -2.53, p<.05). Results of this study suggest that it is important to manage family function to improve health promotion behavior caused by depression.

  • This study attempts to understand the mediating effect of health self-efficacy in the relationship between health consciousness and health promoting behavior of nursing college students. The subjects of the study were 255 nursing college students attending nursing departments at four universities located in G city and J province. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 25.0, and Sobel tests were conducted to verify the mediating effect. As a result, health self-efficacy showed a partial mediating effect between health consciousness and health promoting behavior(Z=5.54, p<.001). The higher the health consciousnes(β=.20, p<.001) and health self-efficacy(β=.39, p<.001), the higher the level of health promoting behavior. And the explanatory power(R2) explaining the health promoting behavior was 48%. Therefore, in order to improve the health promoting behavior of nursing college students, it is necessary to prepare an effective strategy to not only increase health consciousness but also strengthen health self-efficacy at the same time.

  • This study was a descriptive study to identify the effect of health promoting behavior on fatigue and depression and to investigate these levels among nurses. Data were collected from September 19th 2012 to September 25th 2012 by questionnaires from 243 hospital nurses of 3 hospitals in Kyungsang-Bukdo. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, ANCOVA, and Stepwise multiple regression. The result showed that in health promoting behavior, shift nurses had higher scores than it of non-shift nurses. The health promotion behavior predictors of fatigue were spiritual growth and stress management and the predictors of depression were physical activity and interpersonal relationship. This results suggest that development of professional health promoting program which is strengthened these parts of spiritual growth, stress management, physical activity and interpersonal relationship, is needed.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the health promoting behaviors between nursing students and general college students. The participants were 210 students(100 nursing students, 110 general college students). Data were collected by self-reported questionnaires and analyzed by SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. There were not significant differences between two groups in the health promoting behaviors(t=-0.489, p=625). But, significant differences were found in sub-categories of health promoting behaviors according to gender, taking health-related lectures, smoking, and perceived health status. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and intervene various health education programs in order to promote the health of university students in cooperation with universities and local community health organizations.

  • The purpose of this study was a descriptive research that identified the levels of health-promoting behaviors, previous related behavior, perceived benefits/barriers, self-efficacy, and social support. In addition, it was to establish the relations among the variables, and determine the factors affecting the health-promoting behaviors. Study participants were 311 middle aged between 55-64 in urban areas, and the data were collected through self-reported structured questionnair. According to the results, the mean score for the levels of health-promoting behaviors of the late middle aged was 2.64. Also, among the variables related to health-promoting behaviors, perceived benefits were the highest score (30.7), and perceived barriers were the lowest one (2.08). Meaningful positive correlations were found among health-promoting behaviors and previous related behavior, social support, perceived benefits, and self-efficacy, but perceived barriers showed weakly negative correlations. In addition, the factors affecting health promoting behaviors were revealed in order as following: Previous health related behavior(${\beta}$=.35, p<.001), perceived benefits(${\beta}$=.32, p<.001), social support(${\beta}$=.28, p<.001), and life satisfaction(${\beta}$=.13, p<.001), and this model's explanatory power was 68.8%(F=166.71, p<.001). Based on the findings from the study, in order for the late middle aged to have a well-being old age, an health promoting education program including exercises and stress management should be provided to maintain and improve proper health promoting behaviors. The network with the same age groups also should be supported to share useful information and back up one another.
