A majority of piping vibration problems are induced by internal fluid pulsation; turbulent flow, vortex shedding at internal discontinuities, and pressure pulsation at equipment nozzles. The pulsation at the pressure sources resonates acoustically with the piping and the amplified pressure pulsation can generate shell mode vibration in the piping. Reheater attemperator piping supplies water from feedwater pump to reheater attemperator to control the boiler temperature. In normal operating condition, the high frequency shell mode vibration occurred in the piping with the high level of sound(105
${\sim}$ 117 dB). The vibration sources are pressure pulsation in the pump nozzle and the frequencies are related to the blade passing frequencies. The objects of this paper are to analyze the cause of the high frequency vibration and to establish corrective actions. -
Packaged power station (PPS) is a stationary diesel engine generator set and developed for the supply of electric power to small villages, islands and factories etc. Therefore, the PPS is closely installed to residence area and sometimes cause the environmental noise problems. In this paper, environmental noise analysis was performed for the power plant with 28 sets of PPS. The initial analysis results showed the some difference between the measurement and analysis because of the inaccurate noise source data. To improve the accuracy of analysis, main noise sources were inversely estimated using the in-situ measurement data in the vicinity of PPS and steam boiler. As the results of re-analysis, the good agreement was obtained and it was concluded that the noise levels exceed the specified noise limit in residence area. In order to reduce the noise, the several methods such as geometry alteration of inlet duct, application of hybrid-type silencer and noise protection barrier were suggested and verified with the confirmed analysis model.

This paper presents to predict the powertrain structure-borne noise which is primary resource of interior noise. As the first step, it is built up a hybrid powertrain model which is based on the real powertrain which is verified with static and dynamic properties. The methods for verifying are modal analysis and running vibration testing which are experimentally implemented. Based on the Hybrid powertrain component model, an initial predictive assembly model is simulated. As the second step, the characteristic transfer functions are measured that are dynamic stiffness of rubber mounts and vibro-acoustic transfer function based on the acoustic reciprocity. Several techniques utilizing special experimental devices have been proposed for this research. Finally, the structure-borne noise by powertrain will be predict and verify with dynamic simulation and experiment.

Many trials have been used to model room impulse responses, all attempting to provide efficient representations of room acoustics. The traditional model designs for room impulse response seem to fail in accuracy, controllability, or computational efficiency. In time domain, a room impulse response is generally considered as the combination of three parts having different acoustic characteristics, initial time delay, early reflection, and late reverberation. This paper introduces new learning hybrid model for the room impulse response. In this proposed model, those three parts are modeled using different models with learning algorithms that determine the length or boundary of each model in the hybrid model. By the simulation with measured room impulse responses, it was examined that the performance of proposed model shows the best efficiency in views of both the parameter numbers and modeling error.

While various methods for sound source localization have been developed, most of them utilize on the time difference of arrival (TDOA) between microphones or the measured head related transfer functions (HRTF). In case of a real robot implementation, the former has a merit of light computation load to estimate the sound direction but can not consider the effect of platform on TDOAs, while the latter can, because characteristics of robot platform are included in HRTF. However, the latter needs large resources for the HRTF database of a specific robot platform. We propose the compensation method which has the light computation load while the effect of platform on TDOA can be taken into account. The proposed method is used with spherical head related transfer function (SHRTF) on the assumption that robot platform, for example a robot head, installed microphones can be modeled to a sphere. We verify that the proposed method decreases the estimation error caused by the robot platform through the simulation and experiment in real environment.

Acoustic holography exhibits the spatial distribution of sound pressure in time or frequency domain. The obtained picture often contains far more than what we need in practice. For example, when we need to know only the locations and overall propagation pattern of sound sources, a method to show only what we need has to be introduced. One way of obtaining the necessary information is to use envelope in space. The spatial envelope is a spatially slowly-varying amplitude of acoustic waves which contains the information of sources' location. A spatial modulation method has been theoretically developed to get a spatial envelope. By applying the spatial envelope, not only the necessary information is obtained but also computation time is reduced during the process of holography. The spatial envelope is verified as an effective visualization scheme in time domain by being applied to complicated sound fields.

Fast Fourier Transformation(FFT) is one of the most useful way to analyze response signal for the purpose of grasping the dynamic characteristics of system. Excitation is a factor or process making noise or vibration. It's typical and simple experimental method widely used for catching hold of dynamic peculiar characters and modal behaviors of system by frequency analysis. There are harmonic excitation, impact excitation, random excitation, sweep excitation, chirp excitation and so on as the ideal method in an experiment using exciter. In this thesis, excitation testing module for NI-PXI equipment is developed. The analyzing module is developed with LabVIEW tool. A user can generate each waveform for shaking a structure and see quickly and easily modal shape of system with this module. This developed module will be expected to build up more convenient and serviceable measurement system.

An analytical method for the free vibration of a flexible rectangular plate in contact with water is developed by the Rayleigh.Ritz method. The plate clamped along the edges is partially contacted with water at both sides. It is assumed that the water bounded by rigid walls is incompressible and inviscid. The wet mode shape of the plate is assumed as a combination of the dry mode shapes of a clamped beam. The liquid motion is described by using the liquid displacement potential and determined by using the compatibility conditions along the liquid interface with the plate. Minimizing the Rayleigh quotient based on the energy conservation gives an eigenvalue problem. It is found that the theoretical results can predict excellently the fluid.coupled natural frequencies comparing with the finite element analysis result.

A lot of researches have been done in order to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the aerostatic porous bearing, most of them used analytical approaches and only a few used experimental approaches. However the experimental condition used in the previous experimental approaches was not realistic, where the porous bearing has been fixed and only the mass supported by the bearing was allowed to move vertically. The dynamic stiffness obtained by those experimental setups may be different with the real case where the mass and the bearing move together in horizontal direction. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of the horizontally moving aerostatic circular porous air bearings are investigated by the experimental approach. The experimental apparatus was designed to realize its real operating condition used in most industrial applications. The experimental results were compared with the previous experimental ones.

The reciprocating type hydrogen compressor is occurred by the pulsation from the mechanism and this pulsation is make much noise and vibration. Therefor snubber is installed for pulsation decreasing. The five type snubber models were designed for increasing pulsation amplitude reduction and decreasing pressure loss in snubber considering output pipe location as design value. And the pressure flued analysis is carried by CFD. In this paper, each type snubber according CFD result are analyzed by the MSC/NASTRAN to identify the vibration characteristic of each type. The vibration results are compared with CFD results.

A modeling method for the modal and the transient vibration analysis of a multi-packet blade system excited by nozzle jet forces is presented in this paper. Blades are idealized as cantilever beams and the elastic structures like disc and shroud connecting blades are modeled as coupling stiffnesses. A modified Campbell diagram is proposed to identify true resonance frequencies of the multi-packet blade system. Different from the SAFE diagram that employs three dimensional space, the modified Campbell diagram proposed in this study employs a plane to find the true resonance frequencies. To verify the existence of true resonance frequencies, nozzle jet forces are modeled as periodic forces and transient vibration analysis were performed with the modeling method.

This paper presents vibration control performance of an active hybrid mount featuring piezostack actuators. The proposed hybrid mount is devised by adopting piezostack as an active actuator and rubber as a passive element. After experimentally identifying actuating force characteristics of the piezostack and dynamic characteristics of the rubber, the hybrid mount was designed and manufactured. Subsequently, a vibration control system with a specific mass loading is constructed, and its governing equations of motion are derived. In order to actively attenuate vibration transmitted from the base, a feedforward controller is formulated and experimentally realized. Vibration control responses are then evaluated in time and frequency domains. -
Cellulose is a beneficial material that has low cost, lightweight, high compatibility and biodegradability. Recently electroactive paper (EAPap) on cellulose base was discovered as a smart material and actuator through ion migration and piezoelectric effect. Furthermore cellulose has a potentiality to apply the display material, because of its high reflectivity, flexibility and high transmittance. The various shapes and height patterns of the Cellulose acetate (CA) solution, such as circle and honeycomb patterns, were fabricated and observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM, S4300 Hitachi). The resulting pattern showed uniform size in the large area without defect. After stretching the CA film with saponification process in the sodium methoxide in methanol solution, Most of the compositions become one directional ordered nanofibers below 50nm.

Electro-Active paper (EAPap) is a new smart material that has a potential to be used in biomimetic actuator and sensor. It is made by cellulose that is abundant material in nature. EAPap is fascinating with its biodegradability, lightweight, large displacement, high mechanical strength and low actuation voltage. Actuating mechanism of EAPap is known to be the combined effects of ion migration and piezoelectricity. However, the electromechanical actuation mechanisms are not yet to be established. This paper presents the modeling of the actuation behavior of water infused cellulose samples and their composite dielectric constants calculated by Maxwell-Wagner theory. Electro-mechanical forces were calculated using Maxwell stress tensor method. Bending deflection was evaluated from simple beam model and compared with experimental observation, which result good correlation with each other.

Pentacene was dissolved in N-methyspyrrolidone (NMP) and mixed with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene), poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS). The solution color changed from deep purple to intense yellow. As the dissolution time increased, visible absorption decreased and ultraviolet (UV) absorption increased. PEDOT:PSS or Pentacene-PEDOT:PSS was spin-coated to control the layer thickness. Three-layered Schottky diodes consisting of Al, PEDOT:PSS or PEDOT:PSS-pentacene, and Au with thickness of 300nm, respectively, were fabricated. The current densities of
$4.8{\mu}A/cm^2$ at 2.5MV/m and$660{\mu}A/cm^2$ at 1.9MV/m were obtained for the Au/PEDOT:PSS/Al and Au/Pentacene-PEDOT:PSS/Al Schottky diodes, respectively. The current density of the Schottky diode was enhanced by about two orders of magnitude by doping pentacene to PEDOT:PSS. -
A Halbach array is a special arrangement of permanent magnets which augments the magnetic field on one side of the device while cancelling the field to near zero on the other side. The application of this Halbach array magnet to the electrodynamic suspension for Maglev train has been recently studied in order to increase the levitation capability. This paper is focused on analytical method of the magnetic levitation system using Halbach array magnet. The suitability of the proposed method is verified with comparing to a finite element method. From this study, it is confirmed that the proposed method provides a reasonable solution with a little analysis time to the finite element method and the magnetic levitation system using Halbach array magnet is stable dynamically.

Turnout system is a mechanical installation enabling trains to be guided from one track to another which is consists of point blades, common crossing and guard rail etc. These structural feature causes vibration, noise and damages while railroad car wheel is passes by. A tilting train is a train with a tilting mechanism that enables increased speed on regular railroad tracks. The aim of this paper is to study a characteristics of the shock-vibration and noise of tilting and existing train passes by turnout systems. To analyze and assesment, noise and vibration measurement was carried out at the Naesu-station of Chungbuk-line which equipped with cast manganese crossing and built-up crossing and Illo-station of Honam-line which equipped with cast manganese crossing.

Microphone array beamforming method has been recognized as an important aeroacoustic research field and become a standard technique in localizing sound sources. This method also used in flight acoustic measurement, and especially, it is very useful when measure sounds inside the wind tunnel. In measuring sound which is inside the wind tunnel by traditional beamforming method, there are some errors caused by airstream. The speed and the propagation path of the sound changes as it travel through the airstream. This makes the error which the position of sound is changed a little bit to the down stream direction. In this paper, validation test has made about the correction equation for this wind effects of previous researches. And beamforming including shear layer correction was performed about a sound source in the anechoic open-jet windtunnel.

This study deals with the sound insulation performance of the damping sheet, which is widely used in a train. The wall of train is assumed to be a plate made of steel and two damping sheets. In case of damping sheet only, the sound transmission loss follows the mass law. If a steel plate is attached to damping sheet, the transmission loss is found to be higher than single of only steel plate, as we can anticipated, about
$3{\sim}5$ dB. This is very well known consequence that is because the density of area increases. However, the increase of the transmission loss is not higher than what we can expect by the mass law. That's because the steel is perfectly blocked from the transmission of the air ; There is no defect in that material. -
All of noise prediction model have it's own features in the case of modeling conditions, so it is very important to know the features of each model case by case for a proper modeling, especially using at the Environmental Impact Assessment. For prediction of highway traffic noise and abating the noise by barriers, two kinds of prediction model, HW-NOISE, KHTN(Korea Highway Traffic Noise) has been mainly used in Korea. In this study, the features of these models were described at the same conditions. The properties of sound power from a road, diffraction characteristics from a barrier, sound pressure level decaying in each model were investigated. Using the results, it will be anticipated that the proper using of prediction models in the works of highway noise abating.

Recently, due to the high interests for well being life, claims about noise ad vibration are increased very rapidly. Therefore more reliable and exact evaluation of noise impact has been required. Until now in Korea, only one prediction equation for the assessment of railway environmental noise was used. But that equation has many limits and weak points because of the update was not performed from 1993. So in this study, the performance of another equation proposed by authors was compared to the former. As a result, proposed prediction equation may be used to evaluate the impact of railway noise in the future.

Community Noise has been great concerned in public. A road traffic noise has affected too much damage on quiet living environment. In this paper, the noise barrier effect on the street has been examned. As a tool of the path analyses, a cepstrum analyses of signal processing technique has been implemented.

Highly damped insulation panel for transformer construction is needed in residential area because the making noise from transformer substation in inner city is appeared a lost of problem by increasing to conserve living environment. Therefor in this paper, the vibration and noise characteristic effect of cork-type and sponge-type that is attached between insulation panel and enforce beam in transformer is analized using real size transformer experimentally.

The floor slabs of building structures are often subjected to the periodic force which is induced by vibrating machines or human activity(walking, jumping, running etc). These periodic forces cause excessive oscillation. In order to examine the dynamic characteristics of floor slabs, the dynamic characteristics test is accomplished. Generally, the Impact Hammer and Dynamic Exciter test is used to dynamic characteristics test. But the Impact Hammer test is not suitable to apply in building slabs. In this paper, It compared the performance of the Exciter and Impact Hammer test for dynamic characteristics analysis of floor slabs.

LCVA has an advantage that its natural frequency can be easily controlled by changing the area ratio of the vertical column and horizontal part. The previous studies investigated the dynamic characteristics of the LCVA under harmonic load. This study experimentally obtained the first and second mode natural frequencies of the LCVA from shaking table tests using white noise and compared the values with the ones by previous study. Test results show that the measured first mode natural frequency of the LCVA is larger than the calculated one when the area ratio is larger than 1. The second mode frequency increases with the increasing area ratio, which is due to the sloshing motion effect resulting from the large area of the vertical column.

In this paper, to overcome local damages of structures, an uncertainty of structural model, installing sensors of structures, and economics of building system, decentralized semi-active magnetorheological(MR) damper using the displacement or velocity transferred to the response of floor installed damper is proposed. Relative magnitude between the control force of dampers and the story shear force is difined as design variables and the performance indices response spectra analysis through nonlinear time history analysis excited by seismic loads is performed according to this design variables. And the performance of this decentralized MR damper is compared with previous centralized LQR control algorithm using 3-stories benchmark building structure excited by El Centro (1940, N.S) in order to evaluate the application of building structures.

As the waterpower generation plant, the subject of this Study, is a facility that produces plenty of electricity corresponds to
$196{\sim}240GWh$ annually, and in its generation process it creates a loud noise when the turbine related to the hydraulic turbine dynamo revolves, and since such loud noise must be transmitted to the dynamo room and amplified, it is effecting a lot of influences to the adjacent office and space. In such viewpoint, this Research, based on the soundproof measure presented at the preceding research, has attempted to evaluate about the effect of noise-reduction countermeasure against the hydraulic turbine dynamo using Auralizational Technique through Psycho-Acoustics Experiment. It deems that such result could be applied hereafter as the useful material when setting up a soundproof countermeasure for the hydraulic turbine dynamo room in dam. -
Recently, framed structure is increasingly being used as apartment structure due to the advantages during remodeling. Therefore, the use of lightweight panel as separating wall is increasing. To construct lightweight panel structures with sound insulation performance appropriate to the conditions of each field, measurement of sound reduction index(SRI) through panel structures should be performed. In this study, measurement of SRI through 46 kinds of panel structures was performed in the condition of various factors such as surface density, air space and absorber. The result showed that SRI of panel structures was generally higher by increasing of surface density. In the case of double panel with no absorber, SRI at below critical frequency was gradually increased according to rise of air space. Double panel with absorber make remarkable improvement in SRI at low frequency, but there is a little difference compared with SRI of double panel with no absorber over critical frequency.

In recent days, on account of the cultural development and the improvement of citizen's consciousness level, it is the real situation that the construction of small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall where various cultural events could be performed, is on increasing. However, since the most of Multi-Purpose Hall had been designed and built up without any consideration on Acoustic Factor, many problems are on occurring thereat. Since those small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall have been mostly used with the finishing material which contains a high degree of Acoustic Absorption indiscreetly, both diffusion and reflection of sound are not establishing properly, and because thereverberation of sound is very low, in case of musical performance by musical instrument, its sound hears too arid and stiff, there occurs some acoustic defect such as it becomes difficult for music appreciation with sufficient timbre, so that the capability improvement on the matter is urgently requiring situation. Therefore, this Study has tried to seize the satisfaction level about the small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall after betterment of the acoustic performance by appraise the acoustic condition of the Hall, using Auralization Technique that can experience Virtual Acoustic Field regarding to the small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall as its object. It is deemed that such research result could be practically used as the useful material which enables to bring a reduction effect of construction cost as well asenhancement of the acoustic performance through its presupposition?control on the acoustic problem when construction or renovation of other similar small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall in the future.

Sound insulation performance of the flush door in the apartment unit was recently decreased due to the door for the purpose of barrier free. To evaluate sound insulation, the test for 13 kinds of flush doors was performed as aperture conditions under the flush door. and the measured value was compared with the predicted values of theoretical sound transmission. The results were summarized follow; First, in case of doors with aperture by barrier free, the single number quantities (
$D_{pw}$ ) were evaluated$21{\sim}23dB$ . Whereas, in case of existing door with frame,$D_{pw}$ was evaluated$28{\sim}31dB$ . And in case of sealed doors,$D_{pw}$ was evaluated$31{\sim}34dB$ . Second, the measured$D_{pw}$ was good agreement with the predicted$D_{pw}$ in condition of small aperture. -
뉴테이션(Nutation, 장동)은 자이로스코프와 같은 큰 축 대칭 물체의 회전축에 대해 작은 불규칙적인(어원적으로 "nodding") 운동이다. 위성체가 회전상태에 돌입하게 될 때 위성체가 순수한 회전 운동이 아닌 뉴테이션 운동을 일으킬 경우, 이를 제거하기 위하여 뉴테이션댐퍼(NutationDamper)를 사용한다. 유도탄에 들어가는 부품 중에서 자이로조립체 내에 들어 있는 뉴테이션댐퍼의 개발을 하고자 본 연구를 수행 하게 되었으며, 자이로조립체 내에서 뉴테이션댐퍼의 역할은 자이로조립체의 원주상에 환형 튜브 형상으로 장착되어 자이로조립체가 세차운동(Precession)을 할 때 부가적으로 수반되는 바람직하지 못한 떨림(Wobble motion)인 뉴테이션을 감쇠시키는 기능을 수행한다.

A light railway operationis an effective means to solve a traffic problem of the city however, noise and vibration is pollution happened. This paper studied noise and vibration pollution of a light railway operation in order to let a decrease. The study range was only track condition and civil engineering structure condition. The way how we decrease noise and vibration in a protection vibration track, ballasted track, non-ballasted track, floating track trends was devoted is long rail laying, low vibration track lying. It was the most economic that the examination results track section a complement, and it was proved that a certain way.

To improve the riding comfort and to increase the speed of high-speed railway, it needs active suspension system for railway more and more. In Korea, Korean Train Express (KTX) was opened to commercial traffic 3years ago. Korea High-speed Railway (HSR 350x) was developed and succeeded 350km/h test run by Korean government and several related institute. With the increase of the speed, the vibration control of the high-speed railway becomes important to improve high ride quality. To meet this request, the authors suggest the installation of lateral semi-active damper to the power car of HSR 350x. The result shows better performance.

In this paper the noise characteristics of metro train is investigated experimentally. It is primarily aimed at observing the squealing noise radiation of each wheel when the vehicle pass the curve sections. This will be used to understand the noise excitation mechanism at the contact area between squealing wheels and rails which induce squeal noise at curve sections. To identify the related key parameters and boundary conditions on-board monitorings of the noise, vibration of the wheel and bogie and displacement behaviour of the wheels and rails have been done. In this paper only noise measurement and results are discussed. From spectrogramms squeal noise due to creepage and noise due to flange contact of the wheels could be identified. At the moment of the curve passing the highest squeal levels are found on the front inner wheel. However since curve noise depends on variable factors more analyses will be followed to identify the squealing wheels and the noise excitation.

In this paper, a half-scaled substructure test was performed to evaluate the buckling and structural safety of an existing transmission tower subjected to wind load. A loading scheme was devised to reproduce the dead and wind loads of a prototype transmission tower, which uses a triangular jig that is mounted on the reduced model to which the similarity law of a half length was applied. As a result of the preliminary numerical analysis carried out to evaluate the stability of a specimen for the design load, it was confirmed that the calculated axial forces of tower leg members were distributed to
$80{\sim}90%$ of an admissible buckling load. When the substructured transmission tower was loaded by 270% of its maximum admissible buckling load, it was failed due to the local buckling that is occurred in joints with weak constraints for out-of-plane behavior of leg members. By inspection of load-displacement curves, displacements and strains of members, it is considered that this local buckling was due to additional eccentric force by unbalanced deformation because the time that is reached to yielding stress due to the bending moment is different at each point of a same section. -

An experimental real-time hybrid method, which implements the wind response control of a building structure with only a two-way TLMD, is proposed and verified through a shaking table test. The building structure is divided into the upper experimental TLMD and the lower numerical structural part. The shaking table vibrates the TLMD with the response calculated from the numerical substructure, which is subjected to the excitations of the measured interface control force at its top story and an wind-load input at its base. The results show that the conventional method can be replaced by the proposed methodology with a simple installation and accuracy for evaluating the control performance of a TLMD. -
System identification of real-scale structure is performed using forced vibration test. There exist various techniques available for identifying the dynamic characteristis of structures using dynamic and static measurements. In this study, The finite element(FE) model of the structure is analytically constructed using ANSYS and the model was updated using the results experimentally measured by the forced vibration test. forced vibration tests showed that Hybrid Mass Damper induced floor responses coincided with the earthquake induced ones which was numerically calculated based on the updated FE model.

다양한 공연장 및 대공간에서의 실내음향 제어를 위해서는 실내마감재료의 흡음 및 확산성능을 제어할 수 있는 재료가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 이를 위해 알루미늄 새시를 이용한 흡음구조를 개발하였으며, 흡음특성을 조사하기 위하여 수직입사 흡음계수와 잔향실법 흡음계수를 측정하였다. 수직입사 흡음계수 측정결과 알루미늄 다목적 흡음재의 타공구조와 인서트에 의해 형성되는 공간이 공명형 흡음기의 역할을 하여 중.저주파수 대역의 흡음계수가 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 잔향실법 흡음계수 측정결과 알루미늄 새시를 이용한 흡음구조의 형성에 따라 공명주파수 대역보다 낮은 중저주파수 대역의 흡음계수가 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 공기층 증가에 따라 공명주파수 이상 대역에서의 흡음률은 증가되고 주파수 대역별 흡음계수 편차도 감소되는 것으로 나타났으며, 고주파수 대역의 흡음률 향상을 위한 방안이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

During after the Industrial Revolution until now, as many of working machinery and tool had been invented, human could save man power and time. However, because such instruments generate a loud noise according to their use-purposes and dimensions, they are affecting a physical, mental bad influences to those workers. Therefore, while a reduction measure against the instrument-noise that generates at workshop is sincerely necessitated, due to lack of the research and data concerned with that, a lot of difficulties are on suffering. Standing on such point of view, this Study has measured analyzed the characteristics of diverse instrument-noises generate at workplace, and would intends to present a fundamental material for establishment more comfortable working environment by prediction on the noise in loud noise workshop, based on the above.

In this paper, excitation systems using an active tuned mass damper (ATMD) are presented in order to simulate the wind induced responses of a building structure. The actuator force for the excitation systems is calculated by using the inverse transfer function of a target structural response to the actuator. The analyses results from a 76-story benchmark building problem in which wind load obtained by wind tunnel test is given, indicate that the excitation system installed at a specific floor can approximately embody the structural responses induced by the wind load applied to each floor of the structure. The excitation system designed by the proposed method can be effectively used for evaluating the wind response characteristics of a practical building structure and for obtaining an accurate analytical model of the building under wind load.

By virtue of recent economic development and cultural progress, the desires willing to enjoy a plentiful leisure life among people are on enlarging, then according to this, the demand for a grand performance hall where various cultural events are achievable is also on increasing. However, since the grand performance hall has its characteristics that must accommodate various forms of performances likely from lecture, meeting activity to recital, and because the clearness of sound is on emphasizing, and also it requires the repletion or abundance of sound simultaneously, it could be said that from the designing stage, a sufficient examination and plan with regard to the architectural acoustics design is indispensable. On such view point, for the object of the grand performance hall under actually planning to build, this Study is attempting to compare analyze on Room Acoustics Characteristics using computer simulation from the stage of design. It is considered that the material analyzed in such way could be reflected in maximum basis to the design of the performance hall that minimizes the acoustic defect at the designing step, and also it could be utilized as the useful material at the time of design for a similar form of performance hall in the future.

In case of such song practice room, since the mechanical voice through a loud accompaniment-music and microphone is on using, there has made a very loud noise, and it influences a lot to the adjacent other space and song practice room booth. Consequently, from the designing stage an efficient measures for soundproof and sound-insulation should be arranged. However, as most of the song practice room wall-bodies that already built up or under construction step were constructed merely with consideration on an interior-wise factor only, it is suffering at the soundproof and sound-insulation. Reflecting such viewpoint, this Study has measured Sound Transmission Loss on the subject for the song practice room wall-body recently built up, and based on the actually measured data, by practice of comparison?analysis on it using various evaluation methods, would intends to present a fundamental material for establishment an efficient sound-insulation measure.

In case of domestic performance hall, it is real situation that the demand of multipurpose hall that accommodative a lecture, gathering activity, drama and concert than a professional performance hall such as opera house, is on increasing. Accordingly, since such multipurpose hall, in view of its characteristics, is emphasizing the clearness of sound, also it requiring the repletion or abundance of sound simultaneously, it could be said that the sufficient examination and plan with regard to the architectural acoustics design is indispensable. However, since most of multipurpose hall has ever been designed and constructed without any consideration on an acoustic factor, many problem points are generating. Standing on such viewpoint, this Research has measured the physical acoustic characteristics about the small-scaled multipurpose hall recently built without any acoustic consideration, and through the above, tried to grasp the acoustic defect and controversial point thereof. It is deemed that such study result could be utilized as an important material for improvement the acoustic performance of the multipurpose hall.

Among them, while Stone Processing Industry sells its turnover around billion-Won level per annum per a company, most of other job sites are paltry, adopting less than 10 employees, and it is real state that their working environments are also very coarse. The Noise originated from processing-instrument which generates at such Stone Processing Industry is as so repeatedly reiterating Loud Noise that most of the spot workers are forcedly imposing such dangers as the severe unpleasant feeling and hearing impairments. On this viewpoint, this Research is now analyzing on the frequency characteristics with regard to the Noise that generated from various processing-instruments, and then based on this, in order to grasp the influence of the Loud Noise generating when process the stone materials, this study has ever evaluated it with PSIL and NR. It is considered that such data could be used as the valuable material for establishment of a comfortable working environment hereafter.

Recently, in accordance with the cultural progress and the improvement of citizen's consciousness level, it is the real situation that the construction of small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall where various cultural events could be performed, is on increasing. However, because the most of Multi-Purpose Hall had been designed and built up without any consideration on Acoustic Factor, many problems are on occurring thereat. Because those small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall have been mostly used with the finishing material which contains a high degree of Acoustic Absorption indiscreetly, both diffusion and reflection of sound are not establishing properly, and since the reverberation of sound is very low, in case of musical performance by musical instrument, its sound hears too arid and stiff, there occurs some acoustic defect such as it becomes difficult for music appreciation with sufficient timbre, so that the capability improvement on the matter is urgently requiring situation. On this viewpoint, this Research has caught the Authenticity of the forecasted value and actually measured value using Acoustic Simulation on the subject of the small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall, and then intended to propose the optimum acoustic condition on the basis of the Authenticity. As the result, it could be designed a Multi-Purpose Hall equipped with the satisfactory acoustic performance compare with the time before improvement, so that it is considered that such research result could be practically used as the fundamental material when design for other similar small-scaled Multi-Purpose Hall in the future.

On such point of view, this Research has attempted to extract the proper Rating Vocabulary in order for valuation on Instrument Noise made at the terrible noise-workplace, therefore it is considering that those extracted Vocabularies could be utilized as the useful materials for appraisal on Instrument Noise, also for establishment of Regulation-Standard with regard to Acoustic Psychology Experimentation and Instrument Noise.

As Waterpower Generation generates electricity using the difference of altitude of water, also let the turbine revolves through water pipe, at this time the revolving turbine causes exceedingly huge noise. Accordingly, not only those workers in the hydraulic turbine dynamo room are suffering the difficulties in mutual communication, but also those workers in the adjacent office are enduring the obstruction to the business due to the noise. Therefore, this Study has analyzed the reduction effect on the noise of hydraulic turbine dynamo room utilizing computer simulation, through the preceding research with the optimized model for architectural acoustic factor of the hydraulic turbine dynamo room. It is considered that such research result could be applied as the useful material for improvement of acoustic performance and noise-reduction effect at other similar hydraulic turbine dynamo room in the future.

In case of the hydraulic turbine dynamo room at Dam, due to its big volume and reflexible finishing material, since the noise of electricity-generation is amplifying, it influences the difficulty of mutual communication among the workers, also it is causing both mental and physical damages to those workers in the neighboring office. Accordingly, after presentation of the optimized renovation model of the hydraulic turbine dynamo room using the acoustic simulation, this Research has compared and evaluated them using the auralizational technique between the present condition of "before improvement" and the acoustic condition of "after improvement". As the result of psycho-acoustics experiment, as the acoustic conditions at both "before & after Improvement" were apparently compared, it appeared that there is a considerable amount of noise-reduction effect at psycho-acoustics. It is considered that such material could be utilized as the valuable data hereafter for the time when any construction and renovation of the hydraulic turbine dynamo room and other similar workshop.

Recently people have come to demand more pleasant environments as the quality and right of life have been improved. Along with industrial development, the tendency is causing a growing number of disputes concerning environmental damages. Of many kind of environmental damages, noise and vibration pollution rising at construction fields are particularly the most common subjects of public grievance. Thus the government launched the Environments Dispute Mediation Committee in 1991, purposing to utilize fully the promptness and expertise of administrative institutes and to resolve environmental damage disputes promptly and fairly by interfering in them actively. With the prompt and fair dispute mediations of the committee, people came to be able to get fair and prompt remedies for damages in their health and fortune by environmental pollution. Therefore, by analyzing dispute mediation cases on construction noise and vibration damages, we will suggests basic material on which efficient actions can be takes for public grievances happening in the future.

Even though Waterpower Generation as pollution-free has its own merit of contribution by supply of good quality electricity, due to the noise made at the time of its operation, a normal mutual communication among the workers and technicians engaging at the hydraulic turbine dynamo room is almost impossible, and since those finishing materials had been used mainly by reflection material, it is actual situation that when working for maintenance in the hydraulic turbine dynamo room, as counterpart's voice vibrates, its working efficiency is difficult to ensure. On such view point, this Research has conducted Psycho-acoustics Experiment about voice Definition using Auralizational Technique, on the object for the hydraulic turbine dynamo room that improved its acoustic performance by computer simulation. As the result of Study, it was known that the clearness of sound with regard to voice information transmission was apparently improved in all items than before improvement. Therefore, it is considering that these results would be utilized usefully when renovation on the hydraulic turbine dynamo room in the future.

On such view point, this Study has examined the physical Acoustic Characteristics for the subjects on those Music Rooms of Art Middle School, Art High School, Art College built in Cheonbuk Province, and it is deemed that the material grasped in such way could be utilized as the valuable data enables to improve Acoustic Performance at the time when designing and construction or renovation for Music Room hereafter.

In case of the Hydraulic Turbine Dynamo operating for Waterpower Generation, it makes very huge and loud noises, and it influences bad effect physically as same as mentally to those people who are working inside of power plant, and brings the decline of an effective working efficiency. However, its evaluation method or measure about such noise reflects merely its physical attribute which is sensuous Loudness of the Noise itself, since the accumulation effect of Noise or the meaning connected with psychological response did not reflect, it is the actual state that a rational evaluation is unable to expect. Consequently, this Study has attempted to evaluate the Noise of Hydraulic Turbine Dynamo by analyzing the sound quality using Zwicker‘s Psychological Acoustic Parameter, after classification by its positions of the Noise occurring at Hydraulic Turbine Dynamo.

This survey was carried out to provide a sound and a vibration level of bridges on the Han river. A sound and a vibration level of 6 bridges(Ban po, Cheon ho, Olympic, Jam soo, Young dong, Dong ho) were measured. The X-axis vibration level(
$L_{10}$ ) was$42{\sim}60$ dB(H), Y-axis vibration level was$41{\sim}52$ dB(H) and Z-axis vibration level was$44{\sim}77$ dB(V). The Z-axis vibration level($L_{10}$ ) on the midpoint of bridges was 68 dB(V), and on the joint point was 56 dB(V). The sound level was$77{\sim}84$ dB(A). The sound level of Jam soo bridge was higher than any other bridges. -
Needs of fuel's performance evaluation for the dual-cooled fuel pellet (annular shape) necessitate the irradiation test in the test reactor. Irradiation test rig for the HARARO reactor, which is a special-purposed equipment used for material, irradiation and creep test, must satisfy the operational requirement on the hydraulic characteristics and structural integrity. In this paper, pressure drop and flow-induced vibration test for the newly developed non-instrumented test rig were carried out using FIVPET as a out-pile evaluation test. The test results show that the new test rig satisfy the HANARO operational requirement with sufficient margin. The spectral response characteristics of the flow-induced vibration of the test rid were also discussed.

In this study, the effect of temporal variation of IACC on subjective response to heavy-weight floor impact noise generated by impact ball was investigated. Subjective evaluation was conducted to investigate the effect of temporal variation of IACC on perception of heavy-weight floor impact noise using paired comparison test. The results showed that the effects of SPL and temporal variation of IACC on the annoyance of heavy-weight impact noises were independent and the contribution of SPL was much larger than that of temporal variation of IACC. It was also found that the effect of IACC is larger than temporal variation of IACC comparing to previous study.

This study presents the evaluation process for door module. Its objective evades the resonance generated at module plate due to the operation of window regulator motor. For this study, the design improvement process is composed of experimental methods having three steps. First step is modal analysis at door assembly status for acquisition of dynamic characteristics which are modal frequency and damping. Second step is a vibration experiment to get the test mode considered an efficiency of window regulator motor. Last step is a vibration measurement by the form of
$6{\times}6$ array on module plate. A vibration measurement of 6x6 array form can be got to three analysis results which are a transfer path of vibration using cross correlation function, a vibration map using OA level and a contribution by frequency band using coherent output power spectrum on module plate. These results are applied to SDM(structural dynamic modification) for design improvement to get around the resonance on module plate by the excitation of window regulator motor. -
Vibrating test of vehicle component can be possible in lab-based simulators instead of field testing owing to the development of technology in control algorithm as well as computational process. Currently, Multi-Axial Simulation Table(MAST) is recommended as a vibrating equipment, which excites a target component for 3-directional translation and rotation motion simultaneously and hence, vibrational condition can be fully approximated to that of real road test. But, the vibration-free performance of target component is not guaranteed with MAST system, which is only simulator subjective to the operator. Rather, the reliability of multi-axial vibration test is dependent on the quality of input profile which should cover the required severity of vibrating condition on target component. In this paper, multi-axial vibration testing methodology of vehicle component is presented here, from data acquisition of vehicle accelerations to the obtaining the input profile of MAST using severe data at proving ground. To compare the severity of vibration condition, between real road test and proving ground one, energy principle of equivalent damage is proposed to calculate energy matrices of acceleration data and then, it is determined the optimal combination of special events on proving ground which is equivalent to real road test at the aspects of vibration fatigue using sequential searching optimal algorithm. To explain the vibration methodology clearly, seat and door component of vehicle are selected as a example.

The vehicle noise is classified into interior and radiated exterior noise. And it influences on consumer‘s vehicle decision and traffic noise environment very much. In case of the vehicle exterior noise, it is related with traffic noise and in case of the interior noise, it is related with driver’s and passenger‘s sensitivity quality. Because these influenced on drivers and traffic environment, so standards are restricted by the laws and regulated for the measurement. But, the existence standards measuring the only sound pressure level are limit to reflect consumer’s sensitive aspects. Therefore in this study, the recent standards and laws were searched about domestic and abroad papers and the testing mode for the sound quality (SQ) evaluation was constructed about the vehicle interior noise. Finally, we aimed at the standard establishment to evaluate the vehicle interior SQ using statistics method.

The reduction of the Vehicle interior noise has been the main interest of NVH engineers. The driver's perception on the vehicle noise is affected largely by psychoacoustic characteristic of the noise as well as the SPL. The previous methods to evaluation of the SQ about vehicle interior noise are linear regression analysis of subjective SQ metrics by statistics and the estimation of the subjective SQ values by neural network. But these are so depended on jury test very much that they result in many difficulties. So, to reduce jury test weight, we suggested a new method using Mahalanobis distance for SQ evaluation. And, optimal characteristic values influenced on the result of the SQ evaluation were derived by signal to noise ratio(SN ratio) of the Taguchi method. Finally, the new method to evaluate SQ is constructed using Mahalanobis-Taguchi system(MTS). Furthermore, the MTS method for SQ evaluation was compared by the result of SQ grade table at the previous study and their virtues and faults introduced.

Since human listening is very sensitive to sound, a subjective index of a sound quality is required. Therefore, in the analysis for each situation, the sound evaluation is composed with sound quality factor. Many researchers spends their effort to make a more reliable and more accurate of sound in term of sound quality index for various system noise. The previous methods to evaluation of the SQ about vehicle interior noise are linear regression analysis of subjective SQ metrics by statistics and the estimation of the subjective SQ values by neural network. But these are so depended on jury test very much that they result in many difficulties. So, to reduce jury test weight, we suggested a new method using Mahalanobis distance for SQ evaluation. Threrefore, in this study Mahalanobis distance for the vehicle interior noise was derived using the objective SQ except jury test. Finnaly, the results of the SQ evaluation was analyzed discrimination between reference and abnormal group.

This paper suggests a non-contact sensor for measuring bending vibration of a non-metallic cylinder in two orthogonal directions simultaneously. Recent research shows that a solenoid can pick up bending vibrations of a nonmetallic cylinder based on the reversed Lorentz force mechanism if an electrical conductive patch is attached to the cylinder. In this work, pairs of specially designed patches are used to make two independent paths for the current induced by bending vibrations, which enables the measurement of bending vibrations along two orthogonal directions simultaneously. The working performance of the developed sensor was verified by using two accelerometers.

This paper conducts a vibratory loads reduction analysis of an Advanced Active Trailing-edge Flap (AATF) blade utilizing single crystal piezoelectric actuators. For an AATF blade, a new L-L piezostack actuator using single crystal PMN-PT materials is designed. The AATF blade is designed to have similar characteristics to the Advanced Active Twist Rotor (AATR) blade. The active trailingedge flap is assumed to be 20% of the blade span and 15% of the chord, located at 75% of the blade radius. In order to conduct the vibratory loads reduction analysis of the AATF blade in forward flight, DYMORE, a multi-body dynamics analysis code, is used. The simulation result shows that the hub vibratory loads may be reduced by approximately 89% even with a much lower input-voltage when comparing with the other active rotor systems.

This paper presents a theoretical approach to describe the vibration characteristics of a piezoelectric shell transducer. Governing equations for the motion of the piezoelectric shell are classified and simplified according to the boundary conditions. Applied mechanical and electrical boundary conditions have yielded each characteristic equation for circumferential, longitudinal, and radial motions of the piezoelectric shell transducer. Theoretical calculations of the resonance frequencies have been compared with the results obtained by the experiment and have shown a good agreement.

A sensor having capability to measure two different kinds of ultrasonic waves selectively is described. Under the same bias field configuration, this magnetostrictive type sensor can selectively measure longitudinal waves and flexural ones. Since the switching operation of mode selection is made only by changing the polarity of the permanent magnets used to configure the bias field, it will be very useful after the permanent magnet are interchanged with electromagnets. In order to find the optimal operating bias field, finite elements analysis is used and the condition for flexural wave measurements to meet is found. The linearity of the sensor is verified by experiments and the requirements for linearity also are proposed.

The differential equations governing free, in-plane vibrations of non-circular arches with the translational (radial and tangential directions) and rotational springs at the ends, including the effects of rotatory inertia, shear deformation and axial deformation, are solved numerically using the corresponding boundary conditions. The lowest four natural frequencies for the parabolic geometry are calculated over a range of non-dimensional system parameters: the arch rise to span length ratio, the slenderness ratio, and the translational and rotational spring parameters.

In this paper, the stability of a cracked cantilever beam subjected to follower force is presented. In addition, an analysis of the flutter instability(flutter critical follower force) of a cracked cantilever beam subjected to a follower compressive load is presented. Based on the Timoshenko beam theory. The vibration analysis on such cracked beam is conducted to identify the critical follower force for flutter instability based on the variation of the first two resonant frequencies of the beam. Besides, the effect of the crack's intensity and location on the flutter follower force is studied. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments. The crack is assumed to be in the first mode of fracture and to be always opened during the vibrations. Generally, the critical follower force for flutter is proportional to the crack depth.

This paper investigates the natural modes of moduled floating structure with module unit connector. As an example structure, a floating parking place(

In the evaluation of natural modes, numerical equations are formulated by FEM(Finite Element Method) and the natural modes are solved by the subspace iteration method. By comparing results for various stiffness of module unit connector, the effect of stiffness of unit connector is examined. -

In this paper, the stability of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid with a crack is investigated by the numerical method. That is, the influences of the rotating angular velocity, mass ratio and crack severity on the critical flow velocity for flutter instability of system are studied. The equations of motion of rotating pipe are derived using the Euler beam theory and the Lagrange's equation. The crack section of pipe is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged pipe segments. The crack is assumed to be in the first mode of fracture and to be always opened during the vibrations. Generally, the critical flow velocity for flutter is proportional to the angular velocity and the depth of crack. Also, the critical flow velocity and stability maps of the rotating pipe system as a function of mass ratio for the changing each parameter are obtained.

This paper is concerned with the development of piezoelectric energy harvesting device. Literature survey was carried out to investigate the state-of-art technology regarding piezoelectric energy harvesting method. It shows that the piezoelectric energy harvesting system has been researched as the needs for the auxiliary power system grow for ubiquitous sensor node. In this study, the piezoelectric energy harvesting system was constructed and the corresponding electric circuit was also built to investigate the power characteristics. Experimental results show that it can charge the small battery with ambient vibrations but still needs an effective mechanism to collect ambient energies.

This paper presents yaw vibration control performances of railway vehicle featuring controllable magnetorheological damper. A cylindrical type of MR damper is devised and its damping force is evaluated by considering fluid resistance and MR effect. Design parameters are determined to achieve desired damping force level. The MR damper model is then incorporated with the governing equations of motion of the railway vehicle which includes vehicle body, bogie and wheel-set. Subsequently, computer simulation of vibration control via proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is performed using Matlab. Various control performances are demonstrated under external excitation by creep force between wheel and rail.

This paper presents optimal design of controllable magnetorheological (MR) shock absorbers for passenger vehicle. In order to achieve this goal, two MR shock absorbers (one for front suspension; one for rear suspension) are designed using an optimization methodology based on design specifications for a commercial passenger vehicle. The optimization problem is to find optimal geometric dimensions of the magnetic circuits for the front and rear MR shock absorbers in order to improve the performance such as damping force as an objective function. The first order optimization method using commercial finite element method (FEM) software is adopted for the constrained optimization algorithm. After manufacturing the MR shock absorbers with optimally obtained design parameters, their field-dependent damping forces are experimentally evaluated and compared with those of conventional shock absorbers. In addition, vibration control performances of the full-vehicle installed with the proposed MR shock absorbers are evaluated under bump road condition and obstacle avoidance test.

This paper presents vibration control performances of a commercial magnetorheological (MR) suspension via new control strategy considering hysteresis of the field-dependent damping force of MR damper. A commercial MR damper which is applicable to high class passenger vehicle is adopted and its field-dependent damping force is experimentally evaluated. Preisach hysteresis model for the MR damper is identified using experimental first order descending (FOD) curves. Then, a feed-forward compensation strategy for the MR damper is formulated and integrated with a linear quadratic regulation (LQR) feedback controller for the suspension system. Control performances of the proposed control strategy for the MR suspension is experimentally evaluated with quarter vehicle test facility.

The paper presents control performance of a magnetorheological (MR) fluid-based haptic knob which is applicable to invehicle comfort functions. As a first step, MR fluid-based haptic knob is devised to be capable of both rotary and push motions with a single device. Under consideration of spatial limitation, design parameters are optimally determined to minimize a reciprocal of control torque using finite element analysis. The proposed haptic knob is then manufactured and its fielddependent torque is experimentally evaluated. Subsequently, in-vehicle comfort functions are constructed in virtual environment and make them communicate with the haptic knob. Control performances such as reflection force are experimentally evaluated via simple feed-forward control strategy.

EGR is well established and efficient means to reduce NOx emissions. The increase of EGR rate affects the ignition delay of the combustion due to the lower oxygen availability. The increasing of the ignition delay period causes large combustion noise. In this study, the effects of EGR and Induction Point on combustion noise are investigated by measuring cylinder pressure and noise. As a result, The Combustion noise is markedly increased under the application of EGR. The increased premixed distance by displacing EGR Induction point in flow direction causes the uniform EGR distribution and the modulation level of the combustion noise is reduced slightly.

Application of hydroforming technology for Engine Cradle has done much to reduce the weight of it. In most cases, hydroformed member of Engine Cradle is made in one-piece. And this method cause a limeted design that amount of expansion at the center portion of the member is not enough to meet the required performance. This limited design leads to decrease the dynamic characteristics of Engine Cradle. In this paper, comparative analyses of conventional stamped engine cradle and hydroformed cradle of one-piece were conducted using Normal Mode analysis and FRF(Frequancy Response Function)analysis. Finally, to improve the disadvantage mentioned above, hydroformed member of 3-pieces was proposed.

According as diesel automobile are produced, reduce noise and vibration that is occurred by characteristic of diesel engine, and need engine room layout optimization and research for light weight of parts. Balance Shaft Module is module parts for vehicles engine to improve performance and efficiency of engine and reduce noise and vibration. These days, an oil pump integrated balance shaft module and an oil sump integrated balance shaft module is on the rising for optimizing of engine room. In this study, produced prototype of oil pump integrated type balance shaft module, and achieved dynamic characteristic test about experimental modal analysis and noise/vibration of balance shaft module.

Nowadays, with the advancement of computational mechanics, and vehicle dynamics simulation linked up with virtual testing laboratory(VTL) and virtual proving ground(VPG) technologies has become a useful method for analyzing numerous driving performances and diverse noise/vibration characteristics. In this paper, the analytical vehicle model based on multi-body dynamics theory was developed to investigate the vibration characteristics according to various road conditions. For the purpose, the whole vehicle parameters, each vehicle's part parameter, and part connecting elements such as spring, damper, and bush were measured by an experiment. Also, the vehicle dynamics model, which includes the front suspension, rear suspension, steering, front wheel, rear wheel, and body subsystems has been constructed for computer simulation. With the developed vehicle dynamics model, three forces and three moments measured at each wheel center were applied to evaluate and analyze dynamics and vibration characteristics for miscellaneous road conditions.

The objective of this study analyzes the influence of shimmy & shake phenomena due to tire design parameters which are RFV(radial force variation), DB(dynamic balance), RRO(radial run out) and air pressure. These parameters are inspection items for Q.C. after tires are manufactured. In order to analyze these parameters on this study, vehicle driving tests were achieved. The test modes are two type which are constant speed and coast-down driving. On this tests the dynamic characteristics of shimmy & shake are measured by the 3-axises accelerometers at the various positions that are knuckle(left & right), rack pinion, seat and steering wheel. In according to analyzed results, the longitudinal vibration of knuckle parts affects the lateral vibration of rack pinion and this vibration affects the lateral vibration of steering wheel that is the shimmy phenomena. Also the over and under DB by comparison with normal DB and the increment of RRO affect the occurrence of shimmy & shake phenomena.

Currently domestic criteria for the aircraft noise is being adapted WECPNL(weighted equivalent continuous perceived noise level), while internationally preferred method is
$L_{dn}$ which is based on from$L_{eq}$ and can also evaluate environmental noise. WECPNL used in domestic as an evaluation metric is only for the aircraft noise. It is, therefore, not adequate for the evaluation of residents' injury, moreover, it is very difficult to measure the aircraft noise by WECPNL due to the complicated calculating procedures as long as automatic measuring system is not used. Accordingly, this study aims to propose alternative evaluation metric for the aircraft noise. To achieve this purpose, WECPNL,$L_{eq}$ ,$L_{dn}$ , other metrics and criteria were compared and analyzed. -
The noise problem has been a public interest for several years in Korea. Especially, the noises which were emitted from aircrafts on the airport and in the air have injurious effects on people over a vast range. Hence, there need vast data on the aircraft noise to evaluate the effect of various parameters. In present study, the works which consist of social surveys and noise measurements were conducted at points near the airport and the airbase. Total of 1,784 participants give effective responses in forty-five areas nearby the measurement points. Questionnaires asked the responses concerned with attitude, noise sensitivity, directive effects, secondary effects, annoyance and attempts to lower noise level exposed. From the field survey, the doseresponse relationship of community response to aircraft noise was established and there are different characteristics between civil and military aircraft. Though the study is still continuing on a few interest, one among some results is that %HA (%highly annoyed) of civil aircraft is higher than military's under the 70 WECPNL.

소음특성이 서로 다른 군용 항공기 소음과 민간 항공기 소음을 환경부에서 고시한 소음 진동공정시험방법에 의거하여 소음을 측정하고 평가하는데는 개선되어야 할 문제점이 뒤따른다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 민간 항공기와 군용 항공기의 소음특성으로 조사하고 소음 측정 및 평가방법에 대한 문제점들을 고찰하였다. 연구결과로 부터, 민간 항공기나 군용 항공기의 정확한 소음측정을 위해서는 동특성을 빠름(Fast)으로 설정하여 측정하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 등가 소음도를 측정하여 항공기 소음을 평가하는 방식은 민간 항공기 소음평가시에는 적절하지만, 이를 군용 항공기 소음에 적용하여 평가할 때에는 상당한 오차를 포함하는 것으로 조사되었다. 그리고 군용 항공기 이 착륙지점에서의 소음 지속시간이 대부분 30초를 초과하는 것으로 조사되었기 때문에, 군용 항공기 소음평가시에는 지속시간에 대한 보정이 반드시 반영되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

This study was carried out to evaluate health effects of aircraft noise using THI(Todai Health Index). The questionnaire survey was conducted around the Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, Korea from 8 August to 9 September. Study subjects, 614 residents, were divided into three groups following to the aircraft noise level: under 75WECPNL(area(1)),
$75{\sim}80$ WECPNL(area(2)) and$80{\sim}85$ WECPNL(area (3)). Twelve scale scores are converted to dichotomous variables based on scale scores of 90 percentile value or 10 percentile value in the control group. Logistic regression analysis taking twelve scores converted as the dependent variables and WECPNL(area), age, gender as the independent variables is conducted. Significant dose-response relationships are found in the scale of MOUT, DEPR, NERV, LIFE, where p denotes significance probability of trend test. Factor analysis was carried out and 2 factors are extracted which may be called "somatic factor" and "mental factor". The dose-response relationship with these factors and noise exposure is not clear. But strangely the odds ratio of mental factor in area 2 is the highest and the annoyance of this area is also higher than other areas. -
A noise reduction policy can be more effectively made when automatic environmental noise measurement system is set up. However, the local characteristic of noise pollution requires a lot of measurement points. This study considers that automatic environmental noise measurement system connects with automatic air pollution measurement system and noise map. The measurement points of traffic volume by the National Police Agency and the Ministry of Construction and Transportation are investigated to use at drawing the road traffic noise map. Finally, the effective application method of the environmental noise measurement vehicle is discussed.

An Improved finite element model updating method to address the numerical difficulty associated with ill-conditioning and rank-deficiency. These difficulties frequently occur in model updating problems, when the identification of a larger number of physical parameters is attempted than that warranted by the information content of the experimental data. Based on the standard Bounded Variables Least-squares (BVLS) method, which incorporates the usual upper/lower-bound constraints, the proposed method is equipped with new constraints based on the correlation coefficients between the sensitivity vectors of updating parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed method is investigated through the numerical simulation of a simple framed structure by comparing the results of the proposed method with those obtained via pure BVLS and the regularization method. The comparison indicated that the proposed method and the regularization method yield approximate solutions with similar accuracy.

The vertical extension of a building in general remodeling process increases both gravity and seismic loads by simply adding masses to the building. In this study, a vertical extension structural module (VESM) is proposed for enhancing seismic performance of the existing buildings by utilizing the story-increased parts. The proposed VESM is composed of steel column, steel beam, and beam-end rotational damper. The steel columns are connected to the shear walls and transfer the wall rotation in out-of plane to the steel beam, and then the beam-end rotational damper dissipates the earthquake-induced energy. Numerical analysis result from a cantilever beam of which end-rotation is restricted by rotational damper indicates that the displacement, base shear, and base overturning moment of the existing structures showing cantilever behavior can be significantly reduced by using the proposed method. Also, it is observed that friction-type rotational damper is effective than viscous one.

Seismic control performance of MR dampers, which have severe nonlinearity, differs with respect to the dynamic characteristics of an earthquake such as magnitude, frequency and duration. In this study, the effects of excitation characteristics on the equivalent linear system of a building structure with the MR damper are investigated through numerical analysis for artificial ground motions generated from different response spectrums. The equivalent damping ratio of the structure with the MR damper is calculated using Newmark and Hall's equations for ground motion amplification factors. It is found that the equivalent damping ratio of the structure with the MR damper is dependent on the ratio of the maximum friction force of the MR damper over excitation magnitude. Frequency contents of the earthquake ground motion affects the equivalent damping ratio of long-period structures considerably. Also, additional damping effect caused by interaction between the viscousity and friction of the MR damper is observed. Finally, response reduction factors for equivalent linear systems are proposed in order to improve accuracy in the prediction of the actual nonlinear response.

In this paper, a two-way tuned liquid mass damper(TLMD) using a tuned liquid column damper(TLCD) and a rubber-bearing-type tuned mass damper(TMD) was manufactured for controlling two-way direction acceleration responses of a high-rise building structure. The proposed controlling device behaves as a tuned liquid column damper in one direction and as a tuned mass damper in the other direction. In this study, Performance evaluation of the downscaled model is conducted. The results show that the two-way controllability is behaved independently each other and realscale TLMD applicable to the high-rise building can be designed. -
Design equations of coupling plates, which connects floor beam of the upper modular unit and overhead beam of the lower one in order to improve serviceability in vibration, are proposed. End conditions of the coupled beams is semi-rigid and the optimal location of the coupling plates are assumed. Rotational constraints for both ends of the coupling plate modeled with beam elements are released and flexibility method is applied to obtain deflection equations of the coupled beam. Proposed equations are defined using the flexibility of the coupling plate, of which size can be determined inversely. Based on numerical analysis, coefficients of the design equations are calibrated and the revised equations are verified to be useful in the design of the coupled beam.

Kitchen hood was used exhausting contaminants and heat during cook. But many people do not use it easily because of the noise. Therefore this study was measured the noise when kitchen hood was working according to air flow mode. Because there are no measuring and analyzing standards in the setting house, it was referred to KS C 9304(Korean Standard). The result was shown the higher sound level than 45dB. Also it was compared the air flow that measured in the house and specified the brochure during the operation of the hood.

Recently, many apartment houses were built in nearby road and railway. Road traffic noise level and railroad traffic noise level are important factors on apartment houses inhabitant's acoustic comforts. The measurement methods which noted by Ministry of Construction & Transportation, Ministry of Environment and Korean Industrial Standard are used for measurement of exterior noise at apartment houses. The purpose of this study compare the noise level characteristic by the measuring methods and evaluating methods. The results show that road traffic noise in the daytime appeared by not greatly noise level difference by the measuring method and evaluating methods. But railroad traffic noise appeared by greatly the noise level difference by the equivalent noise level(1hour) and continuous time.

This study was analyzed the correlation between physically measured values and psychological response for noise of water supply and drain installations in apartment bathroom. It exhibited the noise criteria of water supply and drain installations in apartment bathroom after recording noise of water supply and drain installations. Also, It was carried out the field psycho-acoustic test to find a correlation between physically measured values and psychological response of the noise criteria of water supply and drain installations in apartment bathroom, and the results is that 40dB (A) to 45dB (A) was investigated suitable in lowest criteria.

Since Equipment-Noises occurring in machine room penetrate wall-body and travel to the adjacent room in the form of air-borne sound and structure-borne sound, it is appearing as the main factor that injures a peaceful residential environment, and due to this, such noise-damage is currently increasing rapidly. Consequently, despite the measures for sound-insulation and soundproof against the equipment-noise penetrated wall-body is urgently required, but as the subjective evaluation considered for psychological response about the equipment-noise was not practiced, many dissatisfactions are still raising even after some measure was taken. On such point of view, this Research, at the spot, has actually measured the equipment-noise that had permeated various wall-bodies, and examined its physical characteristics, thence based upon this, has conducted Psycho-Acoustics Experiment and investigated the interrelation between the physical evaluation value and psychological reaction value. It is considered that such study result could be utilized as the useful material at the time of establishment of the Grading Standard for the insulation performance against the Architectural Plumbing Noise, in the future.

Measurements of RT, EDT,
$D_{50}$ ,$C_{50}$ and STI carried out in three different unoccupied University classrooms. For acoustic measurements, various sound sources are used (white noise, pistol shot, MLS and sweep signal). In this study, It found that interaction exists between sound source and place. Also there was high correlation between STI and various acoustic parameter. -
This paper is concerned with the active vibration control of building structure by means of the active tuned mass damper and the modified positive position feedback controller. To this end, one-degree-of-freedom spring-mass-damper system equipped with ATMD is considered. The stability condition for the addressed system when applying the proposed PPF controller is derived by Routh-Hurwitz stability criterion. The stability condition shows that the modified PPF controller is absolutely stable if the controller gain is positive, so that the modified PPF controller can be used without difficulty. Theoretical study shows that the modified PPF controller can effectively suppress vibrations as the original PPF controller does in smart structure applications. To investigate the validity of the modified PPF controller, a simple experimental structure with an ATMD system driven by DC motor was built. The modified PPF control algorithm was implemented on Atmel 128 microcontroller. The experimental result shows that the modified PPF controller can also suppress vibrations for the real structure.

The notion of linearity is fundamental in science and engineering. Much of system and control theory is based on the analysis of linear system, which does not care whether it is nonlinear and complex. The dynamic programming is one of concerned technology when users are interested in choosing best choice from system operation for nonlinear or dynamic system‘s performance and control problem. In this paper, we will introduce the dynamic programming which is based on discrete system. When the discrete system is constructed with discrete state, transfer between states, and the event to induct transfer, the discrete system can describe the system operation as dynamic situation or symbolically at the logical point of view. We will introduce technologies which are related with controllable of Controlled Markov Chain as shown example of simple game. The dynamic programming will be able to apply to optimal control part which has adaptable performance in the discrete system.

In order to reduce the level of recoil force, new recoil technology must be employed. The present study discusses a soft-recoil mechanism that can reduce dramatically the recoil force. The dynamics of the soft-recoil system with hydraulic dampers are described and simulated. The results of the simulation show that FOOB system can reduce the recoil force and the recoil stroke compared to conventional systems. However, the FOOB system is not able to perform well when the fault modes happen. Hence, this study uses the MR damper to achieving FOOB under fault modes.

This paper is concerned with the dynamic modeling, active vibration controller design and experiments for a cylindrical shell equipped with MFC actuators. The dynamic model was derived by using Rayleigh-Ritz method based on Donnel-Mushtari shell theory. The actuator and sensors for the MFC actuator equations were derived based on pin-force model. The equations of motion were then reduced to modal equations of motion by considering the modes of interest. The sensor equations were also converted to a reduced form. An aluminum shell was fabricated to demonstrate the effectiveness of modeling and control techniques. The boundary conditions at both ends of the shell were assumed to be shear diaphragm. Theoretical natural frequencies were calculated and compared to experimental result. It was observed that the theoretical result is in good agreement with experimental result for the first two modes. The multi-input and multi-output positive position feedback controller, which can cope with first two modes, was then designed based on the blockinverse theory and implemented using DSP. It was found from experiment that vibrations can be successfully suppressed.

본 논문에서는 실 시공 중인 PSC 교량에 대하여 풍하중에 의한 상시 진동 계측 자료을 기반으로, 교량의 동특성(고유진동수, 모드형상)을 추정하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 대상 교량의 탄성계수를 추정하여 정적 계측을 통한 탄성계수 결과와 비교하였다. 본 논문에서 사용한 동특성 추정 기법은, 대표적인 주파수 영역 해석 방법인 Frequency Domain Decomposition(FDD) 방법과 시간영역 해석 방법인 Stochastic Subspace Identification(SSI) 방법을 이용하였다. 탄성계수 추정은 유한요소모델과 계측 결과를 이용하여 두 개의 결과 차이가 수렴하도록 하는 반복 계산을 통해 탄성계수를 추정하였다. 우선, 탄성계수 추정 기법의 검증을 위해, 수치 해석을 통하여 그 기법을 검증하였으며, 해석 결과 정확한 탄성계수값을 추정하였으며, 이를 통해 본 논문에서 적용한 탄성계수 추정법에 대한 신뢰도를 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 사용된 추정 기법을 실 교량에 적용하기 위해 실제 상시 진동 계측 값을 바탕으로 실교량의 동특성 및 탄성계수를 추정하였다. FDD 및 SSI 기법을 통한 모드 해석 결과, 두 기법 모두 유사한 결과를 나타내어 FDD 및 SSI 두 방법에 대한 결과의 신뢰도를 확인 할 수 있었다. 추정 탄성계수 값은 거더 단면내 설치한 응력계 및 변형률계를 통한 계측 결과값의 범위 내에 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서 적용한 교량의 상시 진동 데이터를 바탕으로 한동특성 및 탄성계수 추정법이 구조물의 대략적인 탄성계수 및 이에 따른 구조물의 전체적인 건전도를 파악하는데 도움이 되리라 생각된다.

In this paper, vibration modes and frequencies of a ring-type stacked piezoelectric actuator for a wire bonding transducer system are analyzed using FEM simulations. We implement experiments using a commercial product model of the actuator PZT module which consists of 6 layer ring-type PZT and 7 electrodes, combined bolts, nut and tinut. There are two main results: One is that FEM analysis should consider the effect the harmonic voltage input in order to meet the experimental results. The other is that the current wire bonder using exciting frequency of 136 kHz should be modified in order to improve the actuator and bonding performance because the actuator module has the main longitudinal mode of 145 kHz.

This paper investigates the vibration characteristics of a wire-bonding transducer horn for high speed welding devices. The sample wire-bonder uses the input frequency of 136 kHz. The ultrasonic excitation causes the various vibrations of transducer horn and capillary. The vibration modes and frequencies close to the exciting frequency are identified using ANSYS. The nodal lines and amplification ratio of the ultrasonic horn are also obtained in order to evaluate the bonding performance of the sample wire-bonder system. The FEM results and experimental results show that the sample wire-bonder system uses the bending mode of 136 kHz as principal motion for bonding. The major longitudinal mode exists at 119 kHz below the excitation frequency. It is recommeded that the sample system is to set the excitation frequency at 119 kHz to improve bonding performance.

In this paper, the optimal command input is considered in order to minimize the residual vibrations of a flexible cantilever beam when the beam simply changes its position by translation or rotation. Although a cantilever beam has many modes of vibration, it is shown that the consideration of the first mode is sufficient in this case. Thus, the problem becomes a singledegree-of-freedom system subjected to a ground excitation. Two simple methods are proposed to find the optimal command input based on the Shock Response Spectrum (SRS). The first method is the simplest and can be applied to lightly damped cases, and the second method is applicable to more general problems. The second method gives almost the same results as the input shaping method. However the proposed method gives a easier and clearer control strategy.

This paper presents a new jetting dispenser driven by a piezoelectric actuator at high operating frequency to provide very small dispensing dot size of adhesive in modern semiconductor packaging processes. After describing the mechanism and operational principle of the dispenser, a mathematical model of the structured system is derived by considering behavior of each component such as piezostack and dispensing needle. In the fluid modeling, a lumped parameter method is applied to model the adhesive whose rheological property is expressed by Bingham model. The governing equations are then derived by integrating the structural model with the fluid model. Based on the proposed model, dispensing performances such as dispensing amount are investigated with respect to various input trajectories.

This paper describes the experimental method to monitor the structural integrity. The crack on structures changes the wave propagation characteristics of structures. To monitor this change, frequency dependent variation of dynamic stiffness of beam structures is obtained by using beam transfer function method, and its trends are compared to undamaged one for identifying the location and size of the crack. Piezoelectric actuators were used to generate flexural vibrations. It eliminated various restrictions of continuously measuring wave propagation characteristics and monitoring structural integrity. The structural integrity was identified with minimal number of measurements and smart structures employing PZT actuations.

Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is a method for extracting bases for modal decomposition from the ensemble of dynamic signals. Using the POD method, we analyzed the proper orthogonal modes (POMs) of AFM microcantilevers in dynamic mode operations such as Tapping Mode. The POMs and POVs (proper orthogonal values) were computed through MATLAB simulation for the 5-mode model of the microcantilever. We found that the POV portion of the higher POMs of the tapping microcanilever slightly increased in comparison with no tapping. This implies that the modal energy in the fundamental mode can be transferred to the higher modes during tapping.

This paper describes a procedure to improve road noise using DPDS estimation. We can estimate a body local stiffness at chassis mounting point where the path of road input vibration by DPDS with experiment and FE simulation. DPDS result from FE model has a good correlation with experiment data. FE model DPDS shows weak points among chassis mounting points. Body panel thickness and shape were changed to meet DPDS target. Improved DPDS of critical points makes a road noise level lower.

Recent advances in automotive noise control engineering have reduced major sound sources in the vehicle, customers perceive Buzz, Squeak and Rattle (BSR) as one of important indicators of vehicle quality and durability. As the long-term goal, we expect to establish the integrated design cycle for the reduction of BSR noise in the early stage of development, which consist of design, prediction, and evaluation procedures. This is possible only with great bulk of experimental data for BSR noise. In this paper, BSR noise is experimentally identified for vehicle doors, which have been traditionally considered as one of main sources of BSR noise. Based on this result, we proposed method for the prevention of BSR noise in the vehicle doors.

For optimizing the performance of SI engine such as engine torque, fuel consumption, and emissions, systems for variable valve timing were developed by many automotive researchers. In this work, we investigated the relationship between valve timing and intake orifice noise to improve the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) performance as well as engine torque and power. Two approaches are conducted, which are engine dynamometer testing and 1-D simulation analysis. Experimental data were measured on about 21 different operating conditions. This experiment shows that the intake and exhaust valve timing related to overlap period influence on the NVH performance, especially intake orifice noise of engine at given range of operation conditions. Similar results are achieved by using 1-D simulation analysis. It is concluded that the optimal strategies of controlling valve timing and tuning intake systems, are necessary to develop engines or vehicles with good sound quality.

Vibration originated from the fuel pump is transmitted to the fuel pump module and fuel tank. Fuel tank transmits it to chassis of vehicle. Also, noise perturbed through fuel and fuel tank is radiated out. Dynamic characteristics of fuel tank are composed of tank structure and containing fuel quantity. Therefore, this study is focused at fuel tank with various quantity. As a result, characteristics of vibration for various fuel quantity in a tank are identified as the more mass of fuel is, the less the 1st resonance frequency decrease. Also, between acoustic camera and mode shape of modal analysis are used for searching the positions of radiated noise and are found to be in accordance with each other.

This paper proposes method to find the subjective satisfaction index of an air-conditioner using consumer's sensory evaluation for an air-conditioner. A satisfaction index of an air-conditioner is presented the annoyance and freshness as
${\alphs}$ ,${\beta}$ exponents of 1/f slope and is changed the annoyance and freshness as exponents of 1/f slope are changed. The satisfaction index of an air-conditioner is not improved if SPL is above the proper level although the 1/f slope has optimal${\alpha}$ ,${\beta}$ values. Therefore, this paper proposes the satisfaction index of an air-conditioner considered both SPL and${\alpha}$ ,${\beta}$ exponents of 1/f slope. -
A weighted sound pressure level has been used to evaluate sounds test or sound quality test for a refrigerator up to present but the customer had different satisfactions of refrigerator sounds with different listening position. It means that there was a sound directivity caused by a position of fan or compressor. In this paper, we proposed a sound power spectrum guideline that represents total sound of refrigerator.

With development of high display quality of TV and Monitor, personal audio system is arising great interest. In this study, we applied a method to make a good bright zone around the user and dark zone to other region by maximizing the ratio of sound energy between the bright and dark zone. We have attempted to use a line speaker array system to localize the sound in our listening zone. It depends on the size of the zone and array parameters, for example, array size, speaker spacing, wave length of sound.

In this paper, we present our method of controlling the transmission path of compressor vibration to reduce the vibroacoustic of refrigerator. Firstly, to reduce the vibroacoustic radiated from compressor _ mount system, main transmission path was found experimentally and applied partial contact to transmission path to minimize the transmissibility from compressor operation to base plate. In order to verify our method, we designed changing of the connection part between grommet and base plate. Through experiment with modified connection part, we certificate experimentally the noise reduction of refrigerator. Finally, we apply previous connection part to grommet inner shape to enhance the effect of the system. From experimental results, we make certain the possibility of noise reduction of refrigerator through this approach.

This paper presents the result of a comparison study to evaluate the performance of several semi-active control algorithms for use with large-scale MR damper applied to a building structure under seismic excitation using real-time hybrid test method. Recently, a variety of semi-active control algorithm studies are developed and generally evaluated the performance by using numerical analysis. In this paper real-time hybrid test method was applied to performance evaluating of semi-active control algorithms including a clipped optimal algorithm and the modulated homogeneous friction algorithm. -

This paper presents real-time hybrid test method of large-scale MR damper applied to a building structure under seismic excitation. The real-time hybrid test using an actuator for the control performance evaluation of a MR damper controlling the response of earthquake-excited building structure is experimentally implemented. In the test, the building structure is used as a numerical part, on which a large-scale MR damper adopted as an experimental part was installed to reduce its response. At first, the force that is acting between a MR damper and building structure is measured from the load cell attached on the actuator system and is fed-back to the computer to control the motion of the actuator. Then, the actuator is so driven that the error between the interface displacement computed from the numerical building structure with the excitations of earthquake and the fed-back interface force and that measured from the actuator. The control efficiency of the MR damper used in this paper is experimentally confirmed by implementing this process of experiment on real-time. -
In this paper, excitation systems using linear mass shaker (LMS) are presented in order to simulate the wind induced responses of a building structure. The actuator force for the excitation systems is calculated by using the inverse transfer function of a target structural response to the actuator. Filter and envelop function are used such that the error between the wind and actuator induced responses is minimized by preventing the actuator from exciting unexpected modal response and initial transient response. The analyses results from a 76-story benchmark building problem in which wind load obtained by wind tunnel test is given, indicate that the excitation system installed at a specific floor can approximately embody the structural responses induced by the wind load applied to each floor of the structure. The excitation system designed by the proposed method can be effectively used for evaluating the wind response characteristics of a practical building structure and for obtaining an accurate analytical model of the building under wind load.

In this study, real-time hybrid test using a shaking table for the control performance evaluation of a U-shaped TLCD controlling the response of earthquake-excited building structure is experimentally implemented. In the test, the building structure is used as a numerical part, on which a U-shaped TLCD adopted as an experimental part was installed to reduceits response. At first, the force that is acting between a TLCD and building structure is measured from the load cell attached on shaking table and is fed-back to the computer to control the motion of shaking table. Then, the shaking table is so driven that the error between the interface acceleration computed from the numerical building structure with the excitations of earthquake and the fed-back interface force and that measured from the shaking table. The control efficiency of the TLCD used in this paper is experimentally confirmed by implementing this process of shaking table experiment on real-time.

기술수준의 발달로 인해 건물이 대형화 고층화됨에 따라 높은 양정의 펌프를 사용하고 있으며, 배관계통을 대부분 전자식 밸브를 채택하여 입상급수라인의 수충격 현상이 대두되어 수충격 현상제어를 위한 여러 방법들이 시행되고 있다. 본 연구는 수충격 현상을 제어하는 방법 중 수충격 방지기를 이용하여 입상급수라인의 수충격 현상의 제어를 효과적으로 제어할 수 있었다. 향후 본 연구를 계속 진행 시켜나감에 따라 수충격 현상의 제어에 큰 성과를 거둘수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

This study aims to select the proper vocabularies for evaluation about the noise emission from water supply and drain installations in apartment bathroom. As a result of surveying overlapping vocabularies and scores of them for each sound sources, 'annoying', 'noisy', 'dynamic' and 'strident' are main unpleasant vocabularies to the noise from water supply and drain installations in apartment bathroom. And vocabularies such as 'dynamic', 'sudden', 'loudness', 'noisy' are classified into the first factor by analysis.

This paper investigates acoustical characteristics of open-type ceilings using 1:25 scale model. The field survey in the existing 15 halls was carried out to figure out the ceiling structure. The components of the open-type ceiling were mainly steel truss structures, duct, catwalk and finishing surfaces. In order to investigate the absorption characteristics of the equipped ceiling, the absorption coefficient measurements were made using 1:25 reverberation chamber based on ISO 354. Results showed that the absorption coefficient of the empty ceiling structure (6m-height) with 50%-perforated covering plate was 0.2-0.3 at above 500 Hz. When steel structure was added inside the empty ceiling, absorption coefficient increased by 0.16 at 250-1kHz. Adding catwalk did not increase the absorption, but adding duct increased the absorption at 1-2kHz. NRC of the equipped ceiling was 0.39, and the absorption characteristics were mainly found at high frequencies. In addition, the opening size of the covering plate did not change the absorption coefficient of the equipped ceiling meaningfully.

It is important to increase the sound proof performance of building for reducing the influence of aircraft noise on the bais of actual survey of existed buildings. The purpose of this study is to propose the basic data for designing sound insulation of residential house. In this study, field measurement of aircraft noise Interior and outside noise level difference were carried out for 7 days in 2 residential houses. As the result, aircraft noise levels showed to be Leq
$71.8{\sim}74.5$ dB(A), WECPNL$82.2{\sim}83.4$ and indoor noise level were NC-55${\sim}63$ over acceptable NC-30 in 2 measured houses. Noise reduction effect showed to be$15.8{\sim}23.1$ dB(A) in measured houses, and houses with double window were preferable to those with single window in sound proof performance. The outside sound pressure level for residential house was a little different according to the type of source. In measuring by using aircraft noise it was effected by angle and distance from measuring point, to aircraft, window area, and sound absorption of room, and so on. -

In this paper, vibration sources of an electric forklift are identified and the forklift vibrations are reduced by structural modification by using the finite element analysis. From some experiments, it is also found that resonances occur because the natural frequencies of the forklift exist in usual driving speed range. To vibration sources of the electric forklift, the modeling is designed by using a commercial 3D CAD program CATIA and the finite element model is designed by a using finite element analysis program ANSYS which can perform modal analysis of flexible mode. To shift the natural frequencies out side the driving speed range, the frame part, the connection parts between main body and loader are modified to increase stiffness. It is verified that considerable amount of vibration are reduced by the structural modification.

In this paper, noise sources of a planocentric gear reducer are identified by experimental mehod. This study consider a reduction method of a noise/vibration about the gear, axle, bearing and others. Namely, the purpose of this study is to reduce a noise/vibration for a stability of the total system. Form the data to be measured through an experimental method, the problems of the gear, axle, bearing and others are examined closely, and the reducer is derived the model to be the engineering. The mechanism of the problem occurrence is examined through a parametric research about an each influence factor(Load). Lastly, the results of this study propose the model to be improved.

A Color Discerning Device(CDD) is the equipment to use in a Rice Processing Complex(RPC). A CDD can sorting discolored grain according to light and shade. The existing a CDD's driving performance is not so good as overseas machine. Besides, transportation process causes a defect in the mechanism from impact or harmonic excitation or etc. This study is represented the problem of CDD through experiment and simulation on a CDD. To analysis the problem of driving condition, devide each part of CDD for performed modal analysis. The problem of driving of driving condition and transportation process solved by carry out modal analysis and static analysis.

Finite element model updating has been performed using an optimization technique in the paper. The objective function consists of natural frequencies, modal assurance criterion values, and bandwidths of modes, which are obtained from finite element analysis and experiment. Young's modulus and damping coefficient of the material are selected as design variables whose values are modified to make the objective function as small as possible. To consider the loading effect of an accelerometer, its mass and moment of inertia are added to design variables. This model updating method has been applied to a cantilever beam, and experimental data are measured by modal test.

In this study, a novel actuator was developed by employing the newly-synthesized ionic networking membrane (INM) of poly (styrene-alt-maleic anhydride) (PSMAn)-incorporated poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). Based on the same original membrane, various samples of INM actuator were prepared through different reduction times with the electroless-plating technique. The as-prepared INM actuators were tested in terms of surface resistance, platinum morphology, resonance frequency, tip displacement, current and blocked force, and their performance was compared to that of the widely-used traditional Nafion actuator. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that much smaller and more uniform platinum particles were formed on the surfaces of the INM actuators as well as within their polymer matrix. Although excellent harmonic response was observed for the newly-developed INM actuators, this was found to be sensitive to the applied reduction times during the fabrication. The mechanical displacement of the INM actuator fabricated after optimum reduction times was much larger than that of its Nafion counterpart of comparable thickness under the stimulus of constant and alternating current voltage.

The ionic-polymer-metal-composite actuators have the best merit for bio-mimetic locomotion because of their large bending performance. Especially, they have the advantage for mimicking a fish-like motion because IPMCs are useful to be actuated in water. So we have developed IPMC actuators with multiple electrodes for realization of biomimetic motion. This actuator is fabricated by combining electroless plating and electroplating techniques capable of patterning precisely and controlling a thickness of Pt electrode layer. The FRF analysis was conducted by a mechanical shaker and direct electrical excitation which is based on sweep sine wave function. From this result, the proper young‘s modulus of Platinum was investigated and applied on expecting the vibration characteristics of patterned IPMC actuator. The calculated maximum displacement of the patterned IPMC was 2.32mm under an applied 4mN/mm. The natural frequency was increased however displacement was decreased in according to increase a thickness of Pt.

In this paper we deal with a design of the integral sliding mode controller to suppress the disturbance force acting on the suspension system of the magnetically levitated train system. One of the important factors that cause the disturbance force acting on the suspension system comes from the low propulsion speed of linear induction motor. In this paper integral sliding mode controller is employed to reject the disturbance force produced by the propulsion system of the linear induction motor. In order to show the effectiveness of the designed controller a dynamic simulation is utilized and the sliding mode controller without integral compensator is compared with the proposed integral sliding mode controller to suppress the disturbance force.

Coil inductor has been used widely as an electromagnet, because of the high magnetic filed resulting from the voltage applied to the coil. In this study the coils were used in vibration suppression as an actuator. The control system consists of a coil attached in aluminum beam and a permanent magnet set at its bottom. This actuation method is easy to be incorporated into the system and allows significant forces to be applied without contacting with the structure. Three types of coils (cylindrical type, square type, Circular sheet type) were employed in vibration suppression of cantilever beam. The positive position feedback (PPF) controller was applied to the magnet-coil actuator to suppress the first mode of vibration. Experimental results showed that the cylindrical type and square type coil made good vibration suppression efficiency under PPF controller than their eddy current damper. However, there was minimal difference for the circular sheet type coil if compared with its eddy current damper.

최근 반도체 및 디스플레이 산업 등에서 초정밀 가공 및 측정에 방진 시스템을 많이 필요로 한다. 기존에 소개된 여러 방진 시스템 중에서 가장 많이 연구되는 공기스프링은 압축 공기를 이용하여 큰 하중을 지지할 수 있으면서 상대적으로 낮은 강성으로 낮은 고유진동수를 유지할 수 있다. 본 연구는 Takagi-Sugeno 퍼지 방법을 이용해서 능동 방진 시스템을 설계한다. 공기의 비선형 특성에 기인하는 복잡한 비선형 시스템 제어에 PID 제어기 보다 유리한 퍼지 제어기를 설계하였고, 실험과 해석을 비교하였다.

The method of the reducing duct noise can be classified by passive and active control techniques. However, passive control has a limited effect of noise reduction at low frequencies (below 500Hz) and is limited by the space. On the other hand, active control can overcome these passive control limitations. The active control technique mostly uses the Least-Mean-Square (LMS) algorithm, because the LMS algorithm can easily obtain the complex transfer function in real-time particularly when the Filtered-X LMS (FXLMS) algorithm is applied to an active noise control (ANC) system. However, the convergence performance of the LMS algorithm decreases slightly so it may delay the convergence time when the FXLMS algorithm is applied to the active control of duct noise. Thus the Co-FXLMS algorithm was developed to improve the control performance in order to solve this problem. The Co-FXLMS algorithm is realized by using an estimate of the cross correlation between the adaptation error and the filtered input signal to control the step size. In this paper, the performance of the Co-FXLMS algorithm is presented in comparison with the FXLMS algorithm. Simulation results show that active noise control using Co-FXLMS is effective in reducing duct noise.

This paper describes a lens transmissive type tilting actuator for a projection TV. An electromagnetic analysis and a structural analysis of the tilting actuator system is necessary to design a tilting actuator for a projection TV. The tilting actuator is composed a permanent magnet, coil and yoke as the electromagnetic components and it needs a driving hinge part as the mechanical component. The design of the tilting actuator for the projection TV is performed by the following procedure. Firstly, a magnetic flux density of the tilting actuator system is analyzed by a mathematical theory and an electromagnetic FEM. Secondary, a magnetic circuit method is used to determine tilting force. Thirdly, the structural FEM is carried out with an FE model of a lens-transmissive type tilting actuator and then the prototype of the model is manufactured. The characteristic of the prototype is experimentally observed. Finally, a design for a new hinge configuration is suggested for better performance.

The purpose of this study is to design of a linear feeder using a multi body dynamic program, and to analyze a dynamic motion of the feeder that can transport small mechanical parts uniformly. In order to establish the analysis model of the linear feeder, each parts of the feeder are divided into two types which the rigid and flexible body. For the dynamic simulation, RecurDyn, which is a commercial multi-body dynamic package, is used. We also consider the design parameters for optimal dynamic motion such as centroid, stiffness, and mass of the feeder system. In order to analyze the dynamic motion of a linear feeder, the displacements of the feeder are measured by several accelerometers when it is in an operating condition. After the signal data from the accelerometers are captured in the time domain, the dynamic motion in the space is visualized by using graphic computer software.

This study exploits the data discriminating capability of silhouette statistics, which combines wavelet-based vertical energy threshold technique for the purpose of extracting damage-sensitive features and clustering signals of the same class. This threshold technique allows to first obtain a suitable subset of the extracted or modified features of our data, i.e., good predictor sets should contain features that are strongly correlated to the characteristics of the data without considering the classification method used, although each of these features should be as uncorrelated with each other as possible. The silhouette statistics have been used to assess the quality of clustering by measuring how well an object is assigned to its corresponding cluster. We use this concept for the discriminant power function used in this paper. The simulation results of damage detection in a truss structure show that the approach proposed in this study can be successfully applied for locating both open- and breathing-type damage even in the presence of a considerable amount of process and measurement noise.

We studied how linear and nonlinear heart rate dynamics differ between normal fetuses and uncomplicated small-forgestational age (SGA) fetuses, aged 32-40 weeks' gestation. We analyzed each fetal heart rate time series for 20 min and quantified the complexity (nonlinear dynamics) of each fetal heart rate (FHR) time series by approximate entropy (ApEn) and correlation dimension (CD). The linear dynamics were analyzed by canonical correlation analysis (CCA). The ApEn and CD of the uncomplicated SGA fetuses were significantly lower than that of the normal fetuses in all three gestational periods (32-34, 35-37, 38-40 weeks). Canonical correlation ensemble in SGA fetuses is slightly higher than normal ones in all three gestational periods, especially at 35-37 weeks. Irregularity and complexity of the heart rate dynamics of SGA fetuses are lower than that of normal ones. Also, canonical ensemble in SGA fetuses is higher than in normal ones, suggesting that the FHR control system has multiple complex interactions. Along with the clear difference between the two groups' non-linear chaotic dynamics in FHR patterns, we clarified the hidden subtle differences in linearity (e.g. canonical ensemble). The decrease in non-linear dynamics may contribute to the increase in linear dynamics. The present statistical methodology can be readily and routinely utilized in Obstetrics and Gynecologic fields.

This paper is studied the noise and vibration characteristics analysis of the three-phase induction AC motor of the electrical forklift. And we suggest the method which the reduction orders the noise and vibration to be the mechanical. In other to investigate these characteristics, we considered the mechanical characteristics, the electromagnetic effects, and these interactions. In mechanical, we studied the characteristic of the stator, the bearing supported condition of the rotor, and the sound radiation. In electronically, this paper is considered the harmonic effect which is related the magnetic motive force (mmf) with respect to the characteristic of the slot number of the rotor and the stator and the pole number of the motor. Finally we investigated the overall noise and vibration of the induction motor by relations between the electronically harmonic and the mechanical resonance of the stator. By the analysis of the generally three-phase induction motor, we suggest the design methodology to low noise and vibration.

As higher reliability and accuracy on production facilities are required to detect incipient faults, a diagnostic system for predictive maintenance of the facility is highly recommended. In this paper, it presents a study on the application of vibration signals to diagnose faults for a Rotating Machinery using the Mahalanobis Distance-Taguchi System. RMS, Crest Factor and Kurtosis that is known as the Statistical Methods and the spectrum analysis are used to diagnose faults as parameters of Mahalanobis distance.

Because many people suffer physical and mental damage from the noise of the traffic facilities including road, rail, airport, the advanced countries have conducted the researches of predicting and solving the impact of the human health exposed to traffic noise. Therefore, this study suggests the fundamental plans which can assess the health impact of traffic noise on the basis of the prediction results about the health impact of traffic noise.

Nowadays, vehicle becoming necessity is increasing gradually and is main cause of environmental problem. The current automobile noise measurement test method such as ISO 362 which have been used many countries contribute seriously to enforce the regulation of the noise rigidly and actively study vehicle's noise, using that method. However, the amendment of ISO 362 was completed under the international agreement due to the changes in vehicle's techniques and road conditions. In this study, the difference between the current ISO 362(or ECE R51) and new ISO 362(or new ECE R51) is estimated by the test using the practical car producing domestically because the Korean manufacturer have to be interested in new test method.

국내외의 자동차 메이커는 고효율, 저공해 자동차 개발에 집중하고 있으며, 그 방법으로 하이브리드 자동차가 최우선시 되고 있다. 하이브리드 자동차의 밧데리 팩을 구성하는 핵심 부품 중 하나인 고전압 직류 릴레이는 주행 중 엔진 구동력을 보조하는 구동모터에 전기 에너지를 공급하는 밧데리의 출력을 개폐하는 기기이다. 고전압 직류 릴레이의 개폐 동작시 발생하는 소음은 자동차 운전 중 실내로 유입되어 운전자의 승차감을 떨어뜨리는 요인이 되므로 릴레이의 개폐 동작시 발생하는 소음 저감을 위한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 폐로(ON) 동작시 발생하는 소음 저감을 위해 소음원인 충격력을 감소시키기 위한 이중 접압스프링 구조를 제안하였으며, 소음 저감 성능평가를 수행하였다. 먼저 정확한 충격해석을 위해 고전압 직류 릴레이의 최소 동작 전압인 5.9V부터 상시 인가 전압인 12V까지 총 6개의 전압레벨에서 릴레이의 전자력을 측정하였으며, 기존 접압스프링 구조와 이중 접압스프링 구조에 관하여 외연적 탄소성 유한요소 프로그램인 LS-DYNA를 사용하여 충격해석을 수행하였다. 고전압 직류 릴레이의 소음원인 가동전극과 고정전극에서 발생하는 일차 충격력과 가동철심과 고정철심에서 발생하는 이차 충격력을 비교, 평가하였다.

The present study investigates the effect of the flight path of military aircraft on noise map and its WECPNL distribution. Aircraft noise modeling and simulation are made on a Korean military airport by INM(Integrated Noise Model) 6.2 version, and the flight path of military aircraft is modeled by combining takeoff, overfly, approach and touch-and-go modes. The present INM simulations are conducted for two cases with different overfly modes and show that the change of overfly mode remarkably affects the noise influence region and the WECPNL distribution around the aircraft.

This research presents a laboratory study about a comparison between two methods that measure a hearing threshold of the Subjects who participated in an experiment of the Jury test. The Subjects heard a signal by a headphone. The Subjects of total 63 persons (man=42, woman=21 persons) participated in an experiment. A test of hearing was divided into two (Top-Down, Bottom-Up) methods. Total time of hearing test was about 80 minute(40min/day). As a results of the hearing test, a hearing threshold of the Subjects who used to wear a headphone was higher than that of the Subjects who not used to wear a headphone. A hearing threshold of a man was higher than that of a woman. The result of hearing test was showed that ISO's hearing threshold(MAF) was lower than a result that get from an experiment.

The exhaust system, including a muffler, is one of the major sources to generate the radiated noise of construction equipment. The muffler is generally known that it reduces the exhaust noise level, but it sometimes increases the noise level because of the flow effect inside a muffler. So, it is required to consider the flow effect inside a muffler to reduce the exhaust noise level of construction equipment. In this paper, an experimental method to consider a quantitative flow effect inside a muffler was set up through a series of tests. Finally, the experimental result was verified through the flow noise analysis using CFD analysis result. These results make it possible to understand the dynamic characteristics of the flow noise and to design the low noise muffler for the construction equipment.

In this study, we propose a more systematic design process for the structure-borne noise. The proposed way consists of 4 steps: Problem definition, Cause analysis, Development of counter-measure and Validation. Especially, we improved the second step: Cause analysis. According to the PCA(Panel Contribution Analysis), a reduction in vibration of the panels of which panel contribution is positive and larger, results in a reduction in structure-borne noise. We have, however, met the case in which the concept of PCA is no valid in a few vehicle tests. In order to understand this phenomenon, we compared the major panels selected by PCA with the one chosen by DSA(Design Sensitivity Analysis). After investigating the difference between the two results, a more improved process is suggested. The proposed one for the second step in the design process consists of not only the previous way: PCA with deformation analysis results but also DSA. It is finally validated that the proposed design process decreases the sound pressure of the concerned noise transfer function more than 3.5 dB.

Acoustic Target Strength (TS) is a major parameter of the active sonar equation, which indicates the ratio of the radiated intensity from the source to the re-radiated intensity by a target. This research provides the time pattern of TS in time domain, which is applicable to pulse modulated acoustic pressure field. If the time pattern of TS is predicted by using TS equation in frequency domain, it takes long time and difficult since time function pulsed acoustic wave may be decomposed into their frequency domain components. But TS equation in time domain has a convenience. If the expression for pulsed acoustic field has been obtained, the problem can be solved. Furthermore this paper introduces about mathematical equivalence quantities between EM wave and Acoustic Wave.

In the wavenumber domain, each point on a radiation sphere indicates a plane wave of the frequency corresponding to radius of the sphere and the position on the sphere shows propagating direction of the plane wave. This concept is extended from the research by Choi[1] where he focus acoustic potential energy at a point on a radiation sphere. Here we propose the method to focus the energy at a point on the radiation sphere, as a result, we can easily generate a plane wave which propagates to any direction that we want.

In this paper Statistical Energy Analysis has been considered to predict middle, high frequency air borne interior noise. PIM method is used for verification. Damping loss factor and coupling loss factor have been derived from the response(SPL) of sub systems when the power is applied. The airborne SEA model of vehicle is modeled through AutoSea2. Insulation material's absorption coefficient and transmission loss are acquired from closed form solution and experiment.

IPMC-EMIM (Ionic Polyer Metal Composites + 1-ethyl-3- methyl imidazolium trifluromethane sulfonate, EMIM-Tfo) is fabricated by substituting ionic liquid for water in Nafion film, which improves water sensitiveness of IPMC and guarantees uniform performance regardless of the surrounding environment. In this paper, we will introduce the design and analysis of AF Lens Actuator using IPMC-EMIM. We will briefly introduce the procedure of fabrication of IPMC-EMIM first, and proceed on to define the necessary variables, analyze performance by changing the value of the variables, make a designed AF Lens Actuator, and measure the performance of one of them. -
This paper investigates the distortion of magnetic field of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor due to deformed rubber magnet. Global or local deformation of rubber magnet in the BLDC motor is mathematically modeled by using the Fourier series. Distorted magnetic field is calculated by using the finite element method, and unbalanced magnetic force are calculated by using the Maxwell stress tensor. The first harmonic deformation in the global deformation of rubber magnet generates the first harmonic driving frequency of the unbalanced magnetic force, and the rest harmonic deformations of rubber magnet except the harmonic deformation with multiple of common divisor of pole and slot introduces the driving frequencies with multiple of slot number
${\pm}1$ to the unbalanced magnetic force. However, the harmonic deformation with multiple of common divisor of pole and slot does not generate unbalanced magnetic force due to the rotational symmetry. When the rubber magnet is locally deformed, the unbalanced magnetic force has the first harmonic driving frequency and the driving frequencies with multiples of slot number${\pm}1$ . -
This paper investigates the dynamic behavior of a HDD spindle system due to the imperfect roundness of a rotating shaft. The shaft of a spindle motor rotates with eccentricity by the unbalanced mass of the rotating part. The eccentricity generates the run-out of a spindle motor which results in the eccentric motion of a rotating part. Roundness of a shaft affects this motion which limits the memory capacity of a HDD. This research proposes a modified Reynolds equation for the coupled journal and thrust FDBs to include the variable film thickness due to the roundness. Finite element method is used to solve the Reynolds equation for the pressure distribution. Reaction forces and friction torque are obtained by integrating the pressure and shear stress, respectively. The dynamic behavior is determined by solving the equations of a motion of a HDD spindle system in six degrees of freedom with the Runge-Kutta method to characterize the motion of a rotating part. This research shows that the roundness of a rotating shaft causes the excitation frequency with integer multiple of a rotating frequency.

This paper investigates the characteristics of cogging torque and magnetic force of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor due to imperfect magnetization of permanent magnet (PM) numerically and experimentally which results in the magnetically induced vibration. A predicted magnetization pattern of the PM of the BLDC motor, which is derived from the measured surface magnetic flux density along the PM, is applied to the finite element analysis in order to calculate the cogging torque and the unbalanced magnetic force. This research also develops the experimental setup to measure the unbalanced magnetic force as well as the cogging torque. It shows numerically and experimentally that the imperfect magnetization of permanent magnet generates the driving frequencies of cogging torque with integer multiple of slot number in addition to the least common multiple of pole and slot. It also shows that the driving frequencies of unbalanced magnetic force are integer multiple of slot number
${\pm}1$ due to imperfect magnetization of PM even in the rotationally symmetric design. -
To understand the concept of dynamic motion in two degree nonlinear coupled system, free vibration not including damping and excitation is investigated with the concept of nonlinear normal mode. Stability analysis of a coupled system is conducted, and the theoretical analysis performed for the bifurcation phenomenon in the system. Bifurcation point is estimated using harmonic balance method. When the bifurcation occurs, the saddle point is always found on Poincare's map. Nonlinear phenomenon result in amplitude modulation near the saddle point and the internal resonance in the system making continuous interchange of energy. If the bifurcation in the normal mode is local, the motion remains stable for a long time even when the total energy is increased in the system. On the other hand, if the bifurcation is global, the motion in the normal mode disappears into the chaos range as the range becomes gradually large.

An improved method based on a normal frequency response function (FRF) is proposed to identify structural parameters such as mass, stiffness and damping matrices directly from the FRFs of a linear mechanical system. The method for estimating structural parameters directly from the measured FRFs of a structure is presented. This paper demonstrates that the characteristic matrices are extracted more accurately by using a weighted equation and eliminating the matrix inverse operation. The method is verified for a four degree-of-freedom lumped parameter system and an eight degree-of-freedom finite element beam. Experimental verification is also performed for a free-free steel beam whose size and physical properties are the same as those of the finite element beam. The results show that the structural parameters, especially the damping matrix, can be estimated more accurately by the proposed method.

Golf ball spin rate after impact with club is created by the contact force, which is greatly influenced by ball and club mass, material, impact speed, and club loft angle. Previous studies showed that the contact force is determined as the resultant force of the reaction forces normal and tangential to the club face at the contact point. The normal force causes the compression and restitution of the ball, and the tangential force creates the spin. Especially, the tangential force takes either positive or negative values as the ball rolls and slides along the club face during impact. Although the positive and negative tangential forces are known to create and reduce the back spin rate, respectively, the mechanism of ball spin creation has not yet been discussed in detail. It is shown in this work that the linear impulse of the tangential force is directly related to generation of back spin rate of golf ball. The linear impulse can be calculated from the tangential force, which depends upon many factors such as ball and club mass, material, impact speed, and club loft angle. In this research, the influence of the contact force between golf club and ball is investigated to analyze the mechanism of impact. For this purpose, the contact force and the contact time at impact between golf club head and ball are computed using FEM.

The effects of the statistical properties of the Coulomb friction coefficients on the dynamic responses of a galloping quadruped robot are investigated in this paper. In general, the Coulomb friction coefficients are assumed to be deterministic for a controller design to achieve required motion characteristics. However, the friction coefficients between the ground and the robot legs are not constant in reality. Therefore, statistical characteristics of the friction coefficients need to be considered for a multi-body modeling of the robot galloping on the ground. The effects of the statistical properties on the dynamic responses of the quadruped robots are investigated.

An Experimental Study for Integrated Vibration Monitoring System Development in Marine Diesel EngineDiesel engines have been widely used in ships and power plants because of its higher thermal efficiency, mobility and durability compared to other prime movers. Though these merits, diesel engine including main components are sometimes vibrated due to higher combustion pressure in cylinders. Especially torsional, axial and structural vibrations in propulsion shafting may be severely manifested by the malfunction of torsional and axial dampers and misfiring and unbalanced load in cylinder. The structural vibration of main body and turbocharger core hole are also occurred by the loosen top bracing and excess wear-out or failure of turbocharger's bearings. The marine diesel engine should be safely designed from these vibrations. This paper introduces experimental methods to develop the prototype of integrated vibration monitoring system for marine diesel engine.

Machine fault prognosis techniques have been considered profoundly in the recent time due to their profit for reducing unexpected faults or unscheduled maintenance. With those techniques, the working conditions of components, the trending of fault propagation, and the time-to-failure are forecasted precisely before they reach the failure thresholds. In this work, we propose an approach of Least Square Regression Tree (LSRT), which is an extension of the Classification and Regression Tree (CART), in association with one-step-ahead prediction of time-series forecasting technique to predict the future conditions of machines. In this technique, the number of available observations is firstly determined by using Cao's method and LSRT is employed as prognosis system in the next step. The proposed approach is evaluated by real data of low methane compressor. Furthermore, the comparison between the predicted results of CART and LSRT are carried out to prove the accuracy. The predicted results show that LSRT offers a potential for machine condition prognosis.

This study presents fault diagnosis of low speed bearing using support vector machine (SVM). The data used in the experiment was acquired using acoustic emission (AE) sensor and accelerometer. The aim of this study is to compare the performance of fault diagnosis based on AE signal and vibration signal with same load and speed. A low speed test rig was developed to simulate various defects with shaft speeds as low as 10 rpm under several loading conditions. In this study, component analysis was also performed to extract the feature and reduce the dimensionality of original data feature. Moreover, the classification for fault diagnosis was also conducted using original data feature without feature extraction. The result shows that extracted feature from AE sensor gave better performance in faults classification. -
Rotating machinery has two typical faults with clearance, one is partial rub and the other is looseness. Due to these faults, non-linear and non-stationary signals are occurred. Therefore, time-frequency analysis is necessary for exact fault diagnosis of rotating machinery. In this paper newly developed time-frequency analysis method, HHT(Hilbert-Huang Transform) is applied to fault diagnosis and compared with other method of FFT, SFFT and CWT. The results show that HHT can represent better resolution than any other method. Consequently, the faults of rotating machinery are diagnosed efficiently by using HHT.

One of the crucial factors which determine the quality and the accuracy of SEA model is how subsystems are defined. Experimental SEA technique had been a unique way to divide entire systems accurately for mid-frequency range, until FEA based virtual FRF response technique, virtual SEA method presented. Virtaul SEA has been developed for predictive SEA tool in early design process. In this study, Modal analysis results from modified crash FE model is used for Statistical transfer matrix. Observation nodes on the cockpit are grouped by attractive substructuring method based on point to point transfer and correlation matrix. Complex cockpit structure is divided into subsystems by automatic substructuring. Comparison with experimental SEA results validates the application of Virtual SEA to cockpit.

The turbocharger for a vehicle is consisting of a centrifugal compressor and turbine. These compressor and turbine are vibrating and emitting noises through the T/C body, exhaust system (Catalyst, Bellows, Pipe, etc) and Intake system (Hoses, Intercooler pipes, Intercooler) as rotating. A turbocharger cold test bench is constructed to reduce these noises, especially for the purpose of realizing transient operating environment and oil temperature control to simulate the vehicle operating characteristics with intake system and exhaust system. This research laid the groundwork to develop a lower noise level T/C through understanding the mechanism of the noise source of T/C.

Aero-pulsation noise, generally caused by geometric asymmetry of a rotating device, is considerable source of annoyance in passenger cars using the turbocharged diesel engine. Main source of this noise is the compressor wheel in the turbocharger system, and can be reduced by after-treatment such as silencers, but which may increase the manufacturing cost. More effective solution is to improve the geometric symmetry over all, or to control the quality of components by sorting out inferior ones. The latter is more effective and reasonable than the former in view of manufacturing. So, an appropriate discrimination method should be needed to evaluate aero-pulsation noise level at the production line. In this paper, we introduce the accurate method which can measure the noise level of aeropulsation and also present its evaluation criteria. Besides verifying the reliability of a measurement system - a rig test system -, we analyze the correlation between the results from rig tests and those from vehicle tests. The gage R&R method is carried out to check the repeatability of measurements over 25 samples. From the result, we propose the standard specification which can discriminate inferior products from superior ones on the basis of aero-pulsation noise level.

The rattle noise originated from the oil-pump system was issued in developing an engine. In this paper, the major concerning factors for rattle noise are analyzed and the NVH developing process is summarized. The main factors are the tip clearance of inner/outer rotor, the clearance between oil pump housing and rotor guide and the rotor mass. Also, the optimization for oil-pump rotor whine noise is performed. The main factors of the rotor whine are the profile of the rotor, the oil pressure and the shape of oil route. This paper will present the design guidelines of the engine oil-pump system.

Various methods to improve the planetary gear noise in the vehicle were introduced. And planetary gear systems were analyzed Therefore a common thing among the different planetary gear systems which generate the gear noise in the vehicle was founded. Most importantly, a frequency versus vibration level map was introduced and a predictive method, which is considering the masking effect, to design the planetary gear sets in the concept design stage was described.

In suction nozzle of a vacuum cleaner, where flow-induced noise is generated mainly by flow resistance, several ideas to reduce noise are investigated. To increase fan performance, blade number is optimized and a centrifugal fan is replaced by a cross-flow fan, In addition, gear ratio of fan to drum brush is changed. It is found that fan performance is increased by adopting these methods. Next, the blade height of the fan is decreased to reduce sound pressure level, which causes inevitably decrease in fan performance. Eventually, flow-induced noise is reduced by 6.3 dBA in its overall level with the fan performance maintained.

Vacuum cleaner is a close life product that can remove various dusts from our surroundings. However well vacuum cleaner clean our environments, many people are looking away from it, due to its loud noise. Its noise causes a big trouble in the usual life, for example, catch calls, TV watching and discussing etc. To reduce these inconveniences, noise reduction methods and systematic design of low noise vacuum cleaner are studied in this paper. At first, sound quality investigation is performed to get the noise level and quality that make people TV watching and catch calls available. Based on the European and domestic customer SQ survey result, sound power, peak noise level and target sound spectrum guideline are studied and introduced. As a second, precise product sound spectrums are designed into each part based on the sound quality result. Fan-motor, brush, mainbody, cyclone spectrums are decided to get the final target sound based on the contribution level. Fan-motor is the major noise source of vacuum cleaner. Specially, its peak sound, RPM peak and BPF Peak, cause the people nervous. To reduce these peak sounds, high rotating impeller and diffuser are focused due to its interaction. A lot of experimental and numerical tests, operation points are investigated and optimization of flow path area between diffusers is performed. As a bagless device, cyclones are one of the major noise sources of vacuum cleaner. To reduce its noise, previous research is used and adopted well. Brush is the most difficult part to reduce noise. Its noise sources are all comes from aero-acoustic phenomena. Numerical analysis helps the understanding of flow structure and pattern, and a lot of experimental test are performed to reduce the noise. Gaps between the carpet and brush are optimized and flow paths are re-designed to lower the noise. Reduction is performed with keeping the cleaning efficiency and handling power together and much reduction of noise is acquired. With all above parts, main-body design is studied. To do a systematic design, configuration design developments technique is introduced from airplane design and evolved with each component design. As a first configuration, fan-motor installation position is investigated and 10 configuration ideas are developed and tested. As a second step, reduced size and compressed configuration candidates are tested and evaluated by a lot of major factor. Noise, power, mass production availability, size, flow path are evaluated together. If noise reduction configuration results in other performance degrade, the noise reduction configuration is ineffective. As a third configuration, cyclones are introduced and the size is reduced one more time and fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh configuration are evolved with size and design image with noise and other performance indexes. Finally we can get a overall much noise level reduction configuration. All above investigations are adopted into vacuum cleaner design and final customer satisfaction tests in Europe are performed. 1st grade sound quality and lowest noise level of bagless vacuum cleaner are achieved.

The vibration and noise characteristic of the Axial-gap motor for an air conditioner were analyzed. Experimental Modal Analysis was performed to understand the vibration characteristic of the motor. The noise of motor was measured in a dead room. Finite Element Method was performed to find the vibration characteristic of the motor by using ABAQUS program.

In this study, vibration analysis of a refrigerator was carried out to reduce vibration by considering grommet. When the refrigerator machine room is modeled by finite element method, spring elements are added to constructions of the FEmodel for each component and update. To design the grommet of refrigerator, FEmodel must have vibration characteristics of each components such as baseplate, pipe and compressor it self. The modal analyses are conducted to validate suggested approach when the components of machine room are assembled together. And, in this study, optimal design of grommet is conducted to avoid the resonance at the operating frequency of refrigerator. The experimental and FEM result of suggested design showed good agreement and are presented here.

Recently, drywall's demand is increasing by interest about spread of remodeling house and separated wall structure. This research evaluated panel's SRI and found out panel properties using material of small size. Conclusion of this research is as following. First, we confirmed the effectiveness of small-scale material. Measuring results appeared equally about 400
${\sim}$ 500 Hz that is fc frequency. Second,, it is no big difference in SRI that use CRC or magnesium board that is used for protection of panel surface. Third, it is compared SRI by used junction to make wall that become disjointing assembly. By the result, sealed wall secures resemblant SRI performance almost with normal wall. Therefore, using joint materials and sealing junction became wall that is detached with high SRI. -
기존 투명방음판용 알루미늄 프레임의 구조적 단점을 보완할 수 있는 강재-FRP(Fiber Reinforced Plastic) 합성단면 구조재를 개발하였으며, 아울러 조립이 간편하고 외부 충격에 의해 쉽게 분리가 되지 않는 삽입형 수평재-수직재 코너연결부 상세를 개발하였다. 개발된 강재-FRP 합성단면 구조재와 코너연결재를 결합하여 프레임을 형성하고 그 사이에 투명패널을 삽입함으로써 길이 4m, 높이 1m 투명방음판 시작품을 완성하였으며, 이렇게 완성된 투명방음판 시작품을 대상으로 KS 4770-1 구조성능 평가시험을 수행하였다. 한국도로공사 교량부 시험하중에 대해 설계된 강재-FRP 합성단면 프레임 투명방음판의 구조성능 평가결과, FRP 의 추가적인 구조강성 증가 효과로 인해 한국도로공사 교량부 시험하중을 약간 상회하는 KS 2 호 등급시험하중까지도 만족시키고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

In this paper, development of the noise barrier analysis program is described. The upper part of barriers may have complicated shapes like "Y", "T", inverted L, and other shapes. The insertion loss of the barrier is predicted by summation of multiple diffractions occurring at top edge points. In addition, the program considers diffractions occurring at both vertical sides, while reflections from ground due to mirror images are also included. In case of two barriers at both sides of the road, reflections from the other side of barriers are considered, in which magnitudes are decreased by the ratio of absorption coefficient.

A helmholtz resonator has been widely used for the purpose of suppressing low frequency noises propagated from various heat and fluid machineries. However, the resonator has demerits that the absorption bandwidth at resonance frequency is very small and a large cavity is necessary. In order to overcome these problems, in this paper, a resonator with perforated panels at the neck and/or in the cavity is proposed. The absorption performances of resonators are measured by two-microphone method and are estimated by transfer matrix method. The experimentally measured values of normal absorption coefficients are agreed well with the corresponding values from the transfer matrix method. By introducing perforated panels at the neck of a resonator, it is shown that the absorption performances and bandwidth have a significant improvement.

In this paper, a beamforming technique is introduced to measure the acoustic impedance at both normal and oblique incidence in a free field. The acoustic impedance is obtained by separating incident and reflected signals using the adaptive nulling method which is one of the various beamforming algorithms. To obtain better results, pressure vector commonly used in array signal processing is replaced with the transfer function vector between each microphone and the white Gaussian noise is suppressed by a wavelet shrinkage technique. The experiments conducted in a semi-anechoic room show that the proposed method is efficient and accurate in measuring the acoustic impedance of sound absorbing materials under a free field condition.

This paper investigates stage acoustics in concert halls for ensemble performance in terms of stage support parameters. A concert hall with large stage area was selected. Objective measurements were carried out according to Gade's methods for investigating stage support (ST1). The sound field on the stage was evaluated using stage and audience acoustical parameters. According to the positions at stage, different acoustical characteristics were found. Higher ST1 and lower
$IACC_{E3}$ were measured near side and rear stage walls. In case of conductor/soloist vs. orchestra player, objective measurement of acoustical parameters shows that early sound fields depend on the source-receiver distance but late sound fields depend on the location of side and rear walls. In addition, in-situ evaluation of the trio instrumentalists was carried out. Results show that ensemble is favored by higher early reflection of sounds and sound diffusion affecting ‘blending’ of their performance. -
The effect of a scattering wall surfaces on sound diffusion can be assessed by determining the scattering and diffusion coefficients in the laboratory. However, the sound field in a concert hall including scattered reflections is different from the laboratory measurement condition. Therefore, there is a need for objective investigation of diffusion in real sound fields. In this paper, possible acoustical parameters of in-situ measurements are discussed.

The absorption power of a surface depends on the surface irregularity which has been known as an important factor in determining scattering coefficient. This study investigates the effect of increase in surface area on the absorption and scattering coefficients of a diffuse surface. The surface irregularity or surface pattern can be compared to the wavelengths and the random-incidence scattering coefficient of surface is measured by ISO 17497-1. The scattering coefficients of increasing the surface area in linear pattern of v-cut groove on rubber plate were measured in 1:10 scale model reverberation chamber. It is found that the scattering and absorption coefficients increase with increasing surface area. At 60% of increased surface area the spacing between the hemisphere diffuser and the v-cut groove acts similar with results of absorption coefficient. The results show that absorption coefficient depends on surface area and the spacing where as scattering coefficient depends on surface area and texture.

The accuracy of sound strength (G) measurement method in ISO 3382 has been questioned. One of the main reason is the difficulty in measuring a reference sound level in an anechoic chamber with the same set-up which was applied for the actual hall measurements. In the present paper, an in-situ measurement method for G was proposed by investigating the present G measurement method shown in ISO 3382. In addition, the sound radiation characteristics of typical omnidirectional loudspeakers were investigated and Phi (O) of auto correlation function (ACF) parameters was also calculated from an actual music excerpt to characterize the sound energy distribution in concert halls.

The Little theater in Sejong Performing Arts Center is a proscenium theater with 447 seats, which was built in 1978. The remodeling of the theater was decided in 2005 and acoustical design was conducted. Design guidelines were suggested based on the feasibility studies and acoustical measurement results. Target reverberation time was set at 1.2-1.6s with respect to the main performances. For the acoustical design, side balconies were added to increase the level of lateral reflections. Acoustic diffusers were designed and scattering coefficients were measured in a 1:10 reverberation chamber. From the results of computer simulation and a 1:10 scale model measurement, it was indicated that the new space will have RT of 1.2-1.6 s in middle frequencies when fully occupied.

A hybrid technique that combines the advantages of binaural reproduction and sound field reproduction technique is proposed. The concept of HRTF-field, which is defined as the set of HRTFs corresponding to the various head dislocations, enables us to realize virtual source imaging over a wide area. Conventional
$2{\times}2$ definition is redefined as a MIMO system composed of multiple control sources and multiple head locations, and HRTF variations corresponding to various head movement are quantified. Through the direct control of HRTF-field, reproduction error induced by head dislocation can be minimized in least-square-error sense, and consequential disturbances on the virtual source image can be reduced within a selected area. Simple lateralization examples are investigated, and the reproduction error of the proposed technique is compared to that of Higher-order Ambisonics. -
A semi-anechoic termination is necessary in the muffler transmission loss test rig in order to suppress the sound reflection effects in the downstream. The reflected sound can distort the measured transmission loss curves. However, there exists only general guide about how to manufacture a semi-anechoic termination. In this study, Taguchi's method was used to design a semi-anechoic termination more efficiently.

To do a HRTF customization, researchers used a spherical head model for modeling the head block of structural modeling of HRTF, which is the one of the technique for HRTF customization, because of its simplicity. In this paper, an analytic spheroidal HRTF caused by an incident point source will be introduced. Using proposed spheroidal HRTF, near-field HRTF customization can be applicable through a structural modeling of HRTF. To see the necessity of sheroidal head model, comparison of two analytic solutions, which are classical spherical HRTF and proposed spheroidal HRTF, will be shown. On the view point of ITD, optimal head model which matches with the measured ITD of KEMAR HRTF can be obtained. ITD results show that there are only slight differences between spherical and spheroidal head model. Magnitude comparison is made by constructing head model using measured head size. Although magnitude comparison is not studied between optimal models, the results of 24 of 36 subjects are shown that spheroidal head model matches notch frequency pattern of measured HRTF better than those of spherical one, where the sound source is at contralateral position.

Sound focusing technologies has been studied for various purposes from early 1990s. As a result, these technologies make us possible to apply in many uses. For example, we can treat tumors using focused ultrasonic waves without surgical knife and communicate in the ocean using time reversal array. Also applications for personal audio system become issues. Recently, as technologies are developing, in some applications, needs for regional focusing become increasing because previously suggested focusing methods, such as phase conjugation, time reversal and inverse filtering, were all about a point focusing. Therefore, studies on regional focusing method are essentially needed. Regional focusing method was firstly mentioned by Choi and Kim in 2002: acoustic contrast control. However, in regional focusing, physical interpretations between control variables and results are still not easy because of its complexity. In this regard, we tried to understand the relations between control variables and results in wavenumber domain and suggested a solution method for regional focusing: wavenumber spectrum matching. We also showed how to make spatially focused sound shape using the suggested method from the simplest case: line focusing.

This paper explores the use of BEM based NAH to reconstruct the surface vibration of a plate in a rectangular finite cavity, in which the distances between sensors and the nearest points on the source surface are not equal. In such circumstances, different degree of information on propagating and non-propagating wave components will be detected by sensors at different positions, as well as the influence of measurement noise will vary significantly from the nearest points of measurement to the farthest ones. On the other hand, the condition number of the vibro-acoustic transfer function matrix relating normal surface velocities and field pressures will becomes high, numerically indicating an increase of linear dependency between rows of transfer function matrix. The combination of poor measurement and high condition number will result inaccurate reconstruction. Therefore, one approach to be investigated in this work is to select the measurement positions in such ways that reduce measurement redundancy, as it indicated by the condition number. The improvement is found to be significant in the numerical simulations utilizing two different criterions, spanning from over-determined to under-determined cases, and in the validation experiment.

This paper presents a method to analyze the unbalance response of a high speed polygon mirror scanner motor supported by sintered metal bearing and flexible structures by using the finite element method and the mode superposition method considering the asymmetry of the gyroscopic effect and sintered metal bearing. The eigenvalues and eigenvectors are calculated by solving the eigenvalue problem and the adjoint eigenvalue problem by using the restarted Arnoldi iteration method. The decoupled equations of motion can be obtained from global finite element motion equations by using the orthogonal relation between the right eigenvectors and left eigenvectors. The decoupled equations of motion are used to analyze the unbalance response of a high speed polygon mirror scanner motor. The validity of the proposed method is verified by comparing the simulated unbalance response with the experimental results.

Mutual compensating concept between SIL(Solid Immersion Lens) and OL(Objective Lens) of NFR(Near Field Recording) is proposed, designed and manufactured to achieve a high NA and obtain a wider manufacturing tolerance. Tolerance information is present in article. An effective NA of Advanced SIL is 1.7 and adjustment between OL and SIL is carried out using our interferometer. We measured very clear RF signal using 3-axis actuator at Test bed.

Gap servo NF (Near Field) system is one of technologies to reduce beam spot size by increasing NA (Numerical Aperture) of lens. To achieve higher NA, SIL (Solid Immersion Lens) is used. In the case of using a blue LD (405 nm) as the light source the gap distance should be controlled under 100 nm with much tighter margin. Because of very small gap distance between SIL bottom and the surface of media, relative tilt tolerance is limited. In this paper, we presented 2-axis tilt mechanism for skew adjustment within small tilt margin.

The optical disc drive has used a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode for high recording density. But high NA and shorter wavelength cause several margins to become short. Focusing and tracking servo has to be more accurate and active tilt compensation mechanism is also needed for coma aberration compensation. In this paper, we proposed 3-axis moving magnet type actuator. For 3-DOF motion, moving coil actuator has to equip 6 wires for supplying 3 independent signals. However, moving magnet type actuator doesn't need to change the configuration of wires because coils are in stator. So, we added tilting mechanism to 2-axis moving magnet actuator which is designed in previous research. Addition of the tilting mechanism cuts down the focusing sensitivity. So, maximization the tilting sensitivity and securing the focusing sensitivity are objectivities of this research. DOE (design of experiments) procedures of electromagnetic circuit are performed for parameter study and the optimization is also performed to maximize the tilt sensitivity. And then the final design is suggested and its performance is verified by FE simulation.

With the advent of sound field simulator, many sound fields have been reproduced by obtaining the impulse responses of specific acoustic spaces like famous concert hall, opera house. This sound field reproduction has been done by the linear convolution operation between the sound input signal and the impulse response of certain acoustic space. However, the conventional finite impulse response based linear convolution operation always makes real-time implementation of sound field generator impossible due to the large amount of computational burden. This paper introduces the fast convolution method using perceptual redundancy in the processed signals, input audio signal and room impulse response. Temporal and spectral psycho-acoustic filters considering masking effects are implemented in the proposed convolution structure. It reduces the computational burden of convolution methods for realtime implementation of a sound field generator. The conventional convolutions are compared with the proposed one in views of computational burden and sound quality. In the proposed method, a considerable reduction in the computational burden was realized with acceptable changes in sound quality.

This work analytically investigated the radiated noise of a helical gear-housing system due to the excitation of helical gears. The helical gears were modeled as a 12-degree of freedom mass-spring-damper system; the shaft was modeled as a rod, a beam, and a torsional shaft; and the gear housing was modeled as a clamped circular plate with viscous damping. The modeling of this system used transfer matrices for helical gears, shafts, and bearings. Damping for both the bearings and the plate were obtained by modal testing. For the evaluation of noise, sound pressure from the plate due to the force and the moment in both radial and tangential directions was analytically derived by the Rayleigh integral. The analytical derivation and parameters from the experiment were applied to an analysis of noise for the two sets of helical gears with differing gear ratios. The analysis showed that the moment excitation in both helical gears contributed more to the noise of the plate than axial force excitation.

Cogged belts get unpleasant noise when the speed is up and down. This paper investigates optimum condition for reducing a belt noise that is caused by a belt shape and properties of the material. Order tracking is used analyze belt noise. First step, the pitch length exerts an important influence on the order noise. Second step, material of belt is also important for reducing noise level. The experimental results showed the modified form and material of belts to reduce the noise.

This paper summarized a solution procedure for a large cylindrical structure mounted underneath a ship as a sonar. Vibration analysis of the water loaded structure is required to enhance the structural reliability as well as acoustic performance of the sonar. It is, however, often very difficult to solve such structures since they have many DOFs, considering the frequency of interest and the waterloading. The cyclic symmetric method is firstly reviewed to show how the eigen properties of the full model can be obtained from the representative segment model. The mode mapping method is then proposed and verified to take into account the waterloading with the minimum DOF for the analysis. The solution procedure is finally proposed and applied for a waterloaded cylindrical array structure.

This paper summarizes a design procedure of radiated noise from engine blocks of marine engines. This air-borne noise is one of the significant noise contributors including the aeroacoustic noise due to intake and exhaust and the re-radiation due to structure-borne noise. Excitation forces by engine operations are evaluated taking into account the power generation mechanism from the burning process to the subsequence motion of internal parts; piston, connecting rod, and crank shaft. The acoustic transfer vector method is incorporated to effectively simulate the radiated noise field under the various operation conditions. A contribution analysis for the various excitations to the radiated noise is conducted. It is found that the firing pressure is the main source of the radiated noise, and so the structure of the cylinder can be modified to significantly reduce the radiated noise from the engine block.

This case study refers to turbine-generator with retrofitted turbine rotor. Vibration problem occurring after the retrofit was mainly due to high vibration from exciter side. However, repeated test run and operation during scheduled maintenance caused high vibration from generator bearing, and post-overhaul test run before turbine vibration correction caused oil whip on the bearing. This case study shows how to analyze vibration condition of high turbine generator vibration detected during the post-overhaul test run and vibration condition of offline and online data to reflect it on establishing maintenance schedule and overhaul correction procedure. Vibration data could be acquired during steady load operation or even with varying speed and load. Each data is important for machinery condition evaluation. This case study shows that the vibration data during extreme condition is the key factor in analysis, which helps to find the machinery problem.

The aim of this study is to estimate the cause of Cooling Tower vibration and eliminate the faults of fan with high vibration in spite of overhaul. The cause of high vibration was that the natural frequency of fan blade coincide with second blade pass frequency. To achieve reduction of Cooling Tower vibration, change motor speed from 1784rpm to 1714rpm, and then the vibration has reduced conspicuously.

For the past decade many effort has been delivered to understand noise generation mechanism for the small size engine cooling fan. As a result of that effort, the low noise fan such as the Wave fan was developed. Now the Wave fan becomes the well known low noise engine cooling fan. But in case of the new car development, the system in the new car will be different from previous one. So we need system optimization for every new model. In case of special application, a low speed fan should be developed to match system requirement. In that case, we meet severe engineering requirement by conducting fan system optimization instead of the simple fan scaling. In this paper, I will show you the system optimize process.

Automobile sunroof buffeting is the tonal noise of low frequency around 20Hz. It occurs due to the acoustic feedback process between the shear layer detached from the leading edge of sunroof opening and the Helmholtz resonator-like property of a car cabin. In this paper, PIV visualization technique is applied to the unsteady flow field around sunroof opening of an SUV in the full-scale automotive wind tunnel in order to find out buffeting mechanism. A phase-marking PIV measurement method, in which image and sound pressure are recorded simultaneously, and a phase-rearrangement post-processing program were developed for capturing noise-related velocity fields without expensive synchronization systems. Through this study, some characteristics of the real-car sunroof shear layers under various deflector conditions were identified and these results can provide insights into the noise reduction mechanism of the tube-type deflector.

When unifying the functions of widely used two-fan, engine cooling system into a single unit, the noise and power issues must be addressed. The noise problem due to the increased fan radius is a serious matter especially as the cabin noise becomes quieter for sedans. Of the fan noise components, discrete noise at BPF's (Blade Passing Frequency) seriously degrades cabin sound quality. Unevenly spaced fan is developed to reduce the tones. The fan blades are spaced such that the center of mass is placed exactly on the fan axis to minimize fan vibration. The resulting fan noise is
$3{\sim}11$ dBA quieter in discrete noise level than the even bladed fan. -
As in many of the vehicle NVH issues, blower motor noise has been improved over the years through intensive R&D and production process improvement. Durability of motors, however, still has room for improvement according to customer surveys such as VDS. To investigate the noise issues of blower motors in view of durability, current production motors along with major competitor motors are tested. The noise after accelerated durability test shows that production motors are competitive in noise level with similar noise performance compared to initial measurement. The test result also provided guidelines to the durability development process.

Recently in the automotive brake industry brake squeal noise has become one of the top automotive quality warranty issues. The contact pressure is used to predict friction coupling in the brake squeal analysis. The formulation of friction coupling has performed by nonlinear static analysis prior to the complex eigenvalue analysis. This paper proposes a validation methodology of squeal analysis using modal testing and contact analysis and examines the effect of predicted contact pressure that leads to the discrepancy between unstable complex mode and squeal frequency. This studies compose a three step validation process : examining the modal characteristics of component and assembly loaded contact pressure using modal testing and FEM analysis and verifying the contact pressure distribution using nonlinear static analysis and experiment. Finally, the unstable modes from complex eigenvalue analysis and realistic squeal frequency from the noise dynamometer are investigated.

In order to improve the acoustic performance of a noise barrier without increasing its height, various type of acoustic devices are suggested but, there is no proper method to estimate the performance in Korea. For this, an outdoor test facility was established in Expressway and Transportation Technology Institute(ETTI) of Korea Expressway Corporation for testing the acoustical performance of noise reducing devices installed on the top of a noise barrier. Noise measurements before and after installation of the noise reducing devices were carried out by using sound pressure level for long distance range from the barrier, from 10m to 40m. For considering the directivity effects of noise reducing devices, multivariate regression analysis was attempted. -
Assessment of noise exposed population is a method for checking the degree of environmental noise and social influence in order to reduce the risks such as annoyance and disturbance that are generated by environmental noise. Also, this method suggests the preferential noise reduction policy and action plan by accurately assessing the area that noise causes harm to human health. Recently, a noise map, which can predict noise in comprehensive areas, is used for the assessment of noise exposed population, breaking from the methods using existing measures. In particular, countermeasure for the noise can be considered more effectively by using assessment methods of noise exposed population for specific noise levels, areas, and building types which are the main input factors in noise maps. In this study, Assessment methods of noise exposed population by using 2D noise map are compared with those by 3D noise map.

In recent years, public complaints about railroad noise by KTX and Ordinary train are increasing. Restriction of railways uses same standard without distinguishing the type of railways. According to the type of railways, the frequency characteristics of emitting noise is different. Therefore it is requested to know how vary the public response to each types of railway. The noise annoyance to three types of trains (KTX, Electric train, Diesel train) was analyzed by Jury Evaluation Test for assessing the effect of frequency characteristics. The numerical results by a Semantic Differential Method showed that annoyance response to three type of trains depended on the frequency characteristics. As a result, this study proposed that the KTX could have a bonus level of maximum 2.9dB(A) to ordinary train.

The purpose of this study is the improvement of the prediction model of highway noise. It includes the measurement and analysis of predicted noise levels by various programs in types of road and environments. The results of the measurement are compared with the noise levels predicted by improved highway noise prediction model and domestic prediction models, (Improved highway noise prediction model was considered ASJ-2003, ISO-9613 part2 and noise power of road surface types at Korean highway road.)

Resilient materials are generally used for the floating floors to reduce the floor impact sound. Dynamic stiffness of resilient material, which has the most to do with the floor impact sound reduction. The resilient materials available in Korea include EPS (Styrofoam), recycled urethane types, EVA (Ethylene Vinylacetate) foam rubber, foam PE (Polyethylene), glass fiber & rock wool, recycled tire, foam polypropylene, compressed polyester, and other synthetic materials. In this study, we tested floor impact sound reduction characteristic to a lot of kinds of resilient material. The result of test showed that the amount of the heavy-weight impact sound reduction appeared by being influenced from this dynamic stiffness of resilient material. The dynamic stiffness looked like between other resilient materials, a similar to the amount of the heavy-weight impact sound reduction was shown.

Many kind of damping materials are generally used on concrete slab in apartment building to reduce floor impact noise level. Lately, multi-layered damping material that is consist of several materials are used to improve the effect of floor impact noise insulation. In this study, dynamic stiffness of multi-layered damping material that is consist of common materials such as expanded polystyrene(EPS), expended polyethylene(EPE), ethylene vinyl acetate(EVA) and polyester was investigated. It was found that dynamic stiffness of multi-layered damping material could be estimated if know value of each layer that compose whole structure. And it was found that dynamic stiffness of whole structure did not change even if change order that build layer.

The vibration analysis is necessary at the design stage to improve crew's life on board and to prevent the vibration troubles of the hull structures and main machineries prior to the construction. Especially, if high vibration problems occur on the global structures like the hull girder and the deckhouse after construction, it takes lots of time, labor and cost to cure them and thus accurate analysis of global vibration should be performed from the design stage. In this study, some factors for the global vibration analysis have been investigated and the way to be applied to the analysis has been suggested.

In this study, a new slab system that adjoint precast slabs are connected each other by viscoelastic material is proposed and numerical analysis is performed to evaluate the effect of the slab system on the vibration and noise control. Substructuring is introduced to develope the equation of motion of the slab system and the optimal properties of viscoelastic material are calculated. For the performance evaluation of the new slab system, the sound power and acceleration of the slab are compared with those of two way slab and the slab which the viscoelastic material is not connected. Numerical results show that the sound power of the new slab system can be reduced an amount of 6dB.

This study investigates human floor impact sounds; not only the children's jumping and running represented by heavy-weight impact source such as bang machine and impact ball but also the high-heel walking and the light weight object dropping represented by tapping machine in the standard measurements. However, due to reliability problems as a standard impactor, bang machine has not been included in the new draft of ISO 10140 Part 3: Measurement of impact sound insulation. Therefore, the procedure to convert the floor impact sound level of the bang machine into that of the impact ball has been demanded because the bang machine has been only the standard heavy-weight standard impact source and much of its data has been collected, This study indicates that the use of impact ball is reliable and that the bang machine data can be successfully converted into the impact ball data in case of box-frame type reinforced concrete structures.

The breaker noise is one of the main noise sources of construction site. It is very important to assess and measure the breaker noise accurately, because the noise labelling will be in effect January 2008 in Korea. Therefore, It is necessary to measure the sound power level of breakers and use a appropriate test method in accordance with international standard. In this study, we measure the sound power level of breakers by using the breaker noise measurement system. This system makes it possible to measure the breaker noise more accurately than to measure the noise of that attached with excavator, because this system can control main factors affecting breaker noise such as hydraulic input power, hydraulic supply pressure, breaker inlet oil flow and so on.

This study aims at identifying the effect of preferred visual and auditory stimuli on the road traffic noise perception through the series of psychoacoustic experiments. The first experiment was designed to find the addition effect of a sound reproducing system in a square where lay adjacent to roads with road traffic noise, provide appropriate music corresponding to the varying conditions of weather in the given space. In result, it was found that the rating around the square improved toward more positive adjectives. The second experiment was designed to assess the visual effect of twelve roadsides with different landscapes on the road traffic noise perception. As a result, approx. 3 to 5 dB(A) of psychological reduction was seen in places where natural landscape was preferred, compared to the others, although the noise levels were similar. The third experiment was designed to evaluate the effect of visual screen from adjacent roads on road traffic noise perception by means of ME method in a laboratory. In result, the effect of psychological reduction was observed at 65dB(A) or lower. Especially, complete screening from adjacent roads led to 5 to 10% of loudness reduction effect, compared to non-screening cases. Finally, the fourth experiment was designed to evaluate the effect of visual and auditory information with ME method and 7-point SD rating scale in a laboratory. In result, up to 10% of loudness reduction and about 2dB(A) of noise perceptional reduction were seen at 65dB(A) or lower.

The low frequency noise, including infra-sound is known to affect human physiology and psychology. Guidelines and measurement method of low frequency noise has been introduced in several countries in order to evaluate low frequency noise. In this work, low frequency noise characteristics of dump truck was investigated in terms of the noise level and spectrum. The interior sound pressure level of the dump truck was between 60 and 105 dB in the frequency range of
$1{\sim}250$ Hz. -
This study aims to induce acoustic environmental characteristics which could be used for soundscape design by carrying out factor analysis on sound source image and cognition analysis on subjects' responses on selective questions due to class differences. The results of this study are as follows ; Satisfaction rate differences on exterior acoustic environment due to sensitivity and residence year were revealed. After factor analysis of living sound sources' image, it is known that natural sound, traditional sound, socials traffic sound, rural sound, religious sound and the others are main factors. Social traffic sound is the most one that should be eliminated and traditional sound is selected as a most Korean-like sound. Natural sound is evaluated as the most one that should be preserved and the most retrospectively one.

This research presents a laboratory study about an annoyance of impulsive sound caused by construction site(breaker and blasting). The sources are sampled from outdoor noise and their levels range from 40 to 75 dB at the interval of 5dB. The noise unit is based on A-weighted sound exposure level (ASEL;
$L_{AE}$ ). To make equal ASEL of outdoor noise, finite impulse response (FIR) filter is applied to the originally sampled source to include the effect of distance attenuation. The evaluation method of jury test adopted a Semantic Difference Method (SDM). In the result of the Jury test for impulsive noise, the annoyance response of blasting noise was higher than that of breaker noise. -
The paper deals with the structural analysis and vibration test for the scaffolding system of LNG cargo containment. The eight-stories scaffolding system has telescopic area, working area, coner area and storage area in real system. In the structural analysis, the maximum displacement and stress of the each floor for the scaffolding system are investigated by finite element method. In the vibrational analysis, the natural frequencies and mode shapes for 8-stories scaffolding system of the LNG cargo containment are investigated. In order to compare theoretical natural frequencies with experimental ones, small size of 2-step scaffolding structure is used, and the theoretical results for natural frequency have a good agreement with experimental ones.

Robots have begun to perform various tasks on replacing the human in the daily life such as cleaning, entertainments etc. In order to accomplish the effective performance of intricate and precise tasks, robot hand must have special capabilities, such as decision making in given condition, autonomy in unknown situation and stable manipulation of object. In this study, we addresses the development of a 3-fingered humanoid robot hand system. We execute static analysis, vibration analysis and flexible dynamics to reserve stability at the design. Grasp motion of the finger uses a linear actuator and gears. Motion can be distinguished into four parts depending on the grasping thin paper, sphere, and column. In each motion, we compare the displacement of the case to be rigid with the case to be flexible. As a result, manufactured and feasibility of the robot hand is validated through preliminary experiments.

ATM(automated teller machine) is a machine which can deposit and withdraw money directly. For effective transfer of bills in the machine, crown belts are used. In this paper, the transverse vibration of crown belt is investigated. The equation of motion of the belt is derived using Lagrange's equation. Galerkin's method is applied to convert the partial differential equation to the ordinary differential equations. Experimental investigations are performed on the belt system with the variation of pulley type, eccentricity, and tension. The results of numerical analysis show in good agreement with the experimental results.

In this study, we experimentally investigate the equivalent ring theory for a slightly asymmetric ring. The slightly asymmetric ring has mode pair and frequency pair due to the small asymmetry and this mode pair generates beat in vibration and sound. In this paper, a slightly asymmetric ring is modeled as the equivalent ring, i.e., the assemblage of a symmetric ring and imperfect point masses. The equivalent ring has the same mode pair condition as that of the original asymmetric ring. Effect of the additional mass attachment is investigated by the equivalent ring theory and the result is compared with those of the measurement and the finite element analysis. It is confirmed that the original ring and the equivalent ring show the same change in frequency and mode under the various additional imperfection mass conditions. The equivalent ring theory explains how the asymmetric elements influence the mode characteristics and provides useful information to tune the beat property.

In this study, a new modal test method is presented to evaluate vibration characteristic of the nano imprint stage system. Since it is difficult to measure vibration level without contacting the machine component, non contacting modal test method, laser scanning system is ultrared. Finite element analysis results are compared with the modal test results.

Balance Shaft Module is module parts that is installed to vehicles engine to reduce noise and vibration of vehicles engine. Balance Shaft Module's performance exerts important influence on performance of engine. Therefore, must be able to warrant quality and performance of Balance Shaft Module. Existing product found and revised error at continuous process of production, and estimated failure mode in Balance Shaft Module. Previous method hard to secure product that performance is excellent, and bring a lot of damages economically. Therefore, development of inspectin system for quality inspection of parts and performance test of assembly is essential in Balance Shaft Module. In this study, represented development process of automatic dynamic inspection system to test performance and detect breakdown of Balance Shaft Module that is producing in Dongbo.

Tire noise is a major noise source at high speeds. One of the noise source is controlled by pattern and structure. Pattern noise is effected by the shape of tread. And the bending stiffness of tire is influenced to the resonance of tire‘s belt. But in high frequency region, FEA is not appropriated with application. So this paper discusses about wave propagation of tire. There has been much effort to verify the flexural wave velocity with structure design specification.

In recent years, the semiconductor industry and the optical industry are developed rapidly. The recent demands have expanded for optical components such as the optical lens, the optical semiconductor and the measuring instrument. Object transport systems are driven typically by the magnetic field and the conveyer belt. Recent industry requires more faster and efficient transport system. However, conventional transport systems are not adequate for transportation of optical elements and semiconductors. The conveyor belts can damage precision optical elements by the contact force and magnetic systems can destroy the inner structure of semiconductor by the magnetic field. In this paper, the levitation transport system using ultrasonic wave is developed for transporting precision elements without damages. The steady state flexural vibration of the beam is expressed using Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The transport direction of an object is examined according to phase difference and frequency. The theoretical results are verified by experiments.

The machine equipment of the building inside occurs the vibration. In order to reduce this vibration spring, rubber pad is used. But efficiency of this classical mount is restricted at specific frequency. Also maximum efficiency design is complicated. This paper proposes and examines a attached mass isolation system that is used to reduce transmitted vibrations from machines onto their floor support. With attached mass the low frequency performance is improved overall. The performance is showed in 2 degree of freedom model test. And the proposed isolator has been validated by dynamic test and good agreement between theoretical and experimental results has been obtained.

The media transport systems, such as printers, copy machines, facsimiles, ATMs, cameras, etc. have been widely used and being developed rapidly. In the development of those sheet-handling machineries, it is important to predict the static and dynamic behavior of the sheet with a high degree of reliability because the sheets are fed and stacked at such a high speed. Flexible media are very thin, light and flexible, so they behave in geometric nonlinearity with large displacement and large rotation but small strain. In the flexible media analysis, aerodynamic effect from the surrounding air must be included because any small force can make large deformation. In this paper, only the flexible media analysis is performed as early stage of analysis including aerodynamic effect. Through formulations and simulations for total Lagrangian(TL), updated Lagrangian (UL) and co-rotational(CR) method which are widely used for geometric nonlinear analysis, usefulness and reliability of each methods are investigated.

This paper presents nonlinear vibration characteristics of a vertical passive zero stiffness isolator. The passive isolator can achieve zero stiffness through buckling of notched flexure caused by a compressive force. First, a simulation model of the isolator was built based on elastic beam theory. As increasing the compression force, time and frequency responses of the isolator were simulated. In addition, further nonlinear vibration characteristics were investigated through a bifurcation diagram and a Poincare's map, which shows that even chaostic vibration could happen. The simulations show that as the compressive force increases, the stiffness goes close to zero and the nonlinear characteristic becomes stronger to have a great effect on the isolation performance.

General coil spring has linearity. However, disc spring has non-linearity so that using this non-linearity disc spring can be designed to do shock-absorbing in cases we need because shock response also has non-linearity. By changing the shape and stacking number, it is satisfactory with response of displacement, velocity and acceleration. Conventionally, disc spring was used to control the vibration against huge load and limited space. However, it is limitedly used because of difficulty of the designing guidance. Therefore, disc spring is needed to study further in order to apply it widely. Response of disc spring is compared to response of coil spring by changing ho/t radio with computer simulation and the usage of disc spring is increased through analysis of effect of design factors. The purpose of this paper is that the shock response of disc spring is calculated through numerical simulation and effect of ho/t and stiffness is analyzed to broad usage so that design factor of disc spring is presented.

The HDD (hard disk drive) using Load/Unload (L/UL) technology includes the benefits which are increased areal density, reduced power consumption and improved shock resistance than those of contact-start-stop (CSS). Dynamic L/UL has been widely used in portable hard disk drive and will become the key technology for developing the small form factor hard disk drive. Main design objectives of the L/UL mechanisms are no slider-disk contact or no media damage even with contact during L/UL, and a smooth and short load and unload process. In this paper, we focus on state matrix, pitch static attitude (PSA), roll static attitude (RSA), loading/unloading contour (LC/ULC), impact force and contact. Stability of slider is mainly determined by PSA and RSA. State matrix by PSA and RSA is also important indicator. Therefore we analyze state matrix of SFF HDD suspension through the LC/ULC.

The main objectives of the Load/Unload are no slider-disk contact and no media damage. But, it remains unsolved technical problems on the unloading process. While the slider climbs up the ramp at the outer edge of the disk, the possibility of the slider-disk contact by lift-off force and rebound of the slider increases. Keeping in mind of these points, to prevent the slider-disk contact, we apply the disk bump on disk outer edge proceeding unload. First, referring to the simulation results, we select the optimal bump shapes to improve unload performance by unload analysis. Second, the disk bump is mechanically manufactured by pressing disk surface using tungsten tips. The bumps are variously processed by changing pressing pressure of tungsten tips. After confirming bump shape by nano-scanner, the optimal bump shape is applied to experimental unload process. Through this experiment, it is conformed that the unload performance was improved by using the optimal disk bump to prevent the slider-disk contact.

본 연구는 홀로그래픽 정보저장기기에서 트래킹 서보 제어를 통해 원하는 데이터를 정확하게 기록 및 재생하기 위한 LQG 제어기를 제안하고 검증하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 서보광이라는 추가적인 광을 사용할 것을 제안하여, 서보광과 참조광 간의 간섭에 의해 기록매체에 서보 신호를 얻을 수 있게 하는 홀로그램을 형성한다. 기록 및 재생과정에서 신호광이 기록, 재생됨과 동시에 서보광에 의한 서보 신호가 재생되고, 그 신호의 경로에 설치된 포토 다이오드로부터 디스크 형태에서 발생 할 수 있는 외란을 감지하게 된다. 감지된 외란 신호인 트래킹 에러 신호를 통해 참조광이 디스크의 정확한 위치에 조사되게 하기 위해 평판유리 액츄에이터를 사용한다. 이와 같은 서보 제어를 수행했을 경우 데이터 페이지가 정확하게 재생되며 SNR 과 BER 이 개선되는 것을 확인할 수 있다.

Recently, the need for slim type optical disk drive(ODD) has increased with popularization of lightweight notebook. Because of its lightweight and small structure, slim type ODD has low structural stiffness and it is weak to high-speed disk vibration. In this paper, Finite Element(FE) Model of slim type ODD is constructed and verified by experimental modal analysis. Additionally, sensitivity analysis is performed about structural parameters. As a result of sensitivity analysis, improved characteristic is verified by experiments using a sample of new model. -

The Conventional noise control attempts to simply reduce the level of product noise. But it is very straight forward way that we have consider human perception on noise. Since human listening is very sensitive to sound. Evaluation of the sound quality of a Vacuum Cleaner is studied base on human sensibility engineering. In this paper, we choose two Vacuum Cleaners that are sold in Korea and reduced noise control. Comparison Method is used to evaluate noise and preference of Vacuum Cleaner by steps. The sound quality of Vacuum Cleaner noise is analyzed by employing the subjective evaluation and by representing them in terms of the objective quantities. Semantic Differential Method is used to study sound quality Evaluation. To analyze the sound quality of Vacuum Cleaner noise, consider the coefficients of correlation between sound metrics and subjective rating. The linear regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation and sound quality metrics.

Joints are used extensively in various industries. For instance, structural adhesives are used in place of the traditional mechanical fasteners, such as screws and bolts, because they are much lighter and spread the stresses more uniformly across the joints. For efficient designs of joints, knowledge of static and dynamic characteristics of joints is essential. Most analysis of joints are carried out using analytical equations or finite element method. In this paper, the characteristics of four conditions of lap-joint beam are investigated experimentally. The mode shapes and nodal points of beam show that there are different deformations in each condition. These deformations may cause high stresses and may initiate local cracking and delamination failures.

This paper proposes an optimal design scheme to reduce the noise of the engine cooling fan by adapting Kriging with two meta-heuristic techniques. An engineering model has been developed for the prediction of the noise spectrum of the engine cooling fan. The noise of the fan is expressed as the discrete frequency noise peaks at the BPF and its harmonics and line spectrum at the broad band by noise generation mechanisms. The object of this paper is to find the Optimal Design for Noise Reduction of the Engine Cooling Fan. We firstly show a comparison of the measured and calculated noise spectra of the fan for the validation of the noise prediction program. Orthogonal array is applied as design of experiments because it is suitable for Kriging. With these simulated data, we can estimate a correlation parameter of Kriging by solving the nonlinear problem with genetic algorithm and find an optimal level for the noise reduction of the cooling fan by optimizing Kriging estimates with simulated annealing. We notice that this optimal design scheme gives noticeable results. Therefore, an optimal design for the cooling fan is proposed by reducing the noise of its system.

Manufacturing condition is one of the most important factors in precision manufacturing. In this study, we optimized minimizing the Z vibration acceleration using RSM(response surface methodology) by table of orthogonal array. RSM was well adapted to make the analytical model of the minimum vibration acceleration and enable the objective function to be easily created and a great deal of the time in computation to be saved. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed optimization procedure using RSM can be easily utilized to solve the optimization problem of manufacture condition.

Fan noise prediction method is presented for air conditioning and/or cooling system applications where fan acts as an internal equipment having very complicated flow interaction with other various system components. The internal flow paths and distribution in the fan-applied systems such as computer or air conditioner are analyzed by using the FNM(Flow Network Modeling) with the flow resistances for flow elements of the system. Based on the fan operation point predicted from the FNM analysis results, the present fan noise model predicts overall sound power, pressure levels and spectrum. The predictions of the flow distribution, the fan operation and the noise level in electronic system by the present method are well agreed with 3-D CFD and actual noise test results.

In this paper, the in-plane end vibration of a cylindrical shell has been analyzed. The theoretical result has showed that the strong in-plane vibration at the ends of the cylindrical shell can be generated by the evanescent wave field, which is excited along about half the length of the shell. This has been also observed from experimental result. The evanescent waves are generated due to mode conversion of elastic waves at the ends of the cylindrical shells. The results show that the strong in-plane end vibration can be generated in cylindrical shells.

When we visualize the sound field radiated from a spherical sound source, spherical acoustic holography is proper among acoustic holography methods. However, there are measurement errors due to sensor position mismatch, sensor mismatch, directivity of sensor, and background noise. These errors are amplified if one predicts the pressures close to the sources: backward prediction. The goal of this paper is to quantitatively examine the effects of the error due to sensor position mismatch on acoustic pressure estimation. This paper deals with the cases of which the measurement deviations are distributed irregularly on the hologram plane. In such cases, one can assume that the measurement is a sample of many measurement events, and the cause of the measurement error is white noise on the hologram plane. Then the bias and random error are derived mathematically. In the results, it is found that the random error is important in the backward prediction. The relationship between the random error amplification ratio and the measurement parameters is derived quantitatively in terms of their energies.

In this study, the design method of flexible wing model for gust response measurement wind tunnel test was presented. The design concept proposed herein was validated by modal testing of the flexible wing model manufactured. In addition, aeroservoelastic modeling method for flexible wing model was presented and validated by comparing the gust response analysis results from the method proposed herein with those of commercial software. The gust response characteristics of the flexible wing model was studied by wind tunnel test for measuring the flexible wing gust response due to the induced gust excitation by gust generator. The aeroservoelastic modeling methods proposed and the wind tunnel test results obtained in this study can be applied for wind tunnel testing of the flexible wing for gust response alleviation.

Page-oriented angle multiplexing Holographic data storage system is the one of promising techniques for high capacity and data transfer rate, but its size and narrow tilt margin is pointed as a demerit. To overcome this weak point, in this paper, 2-axis deck mechanism for compensation of disc is employed to Compact size Holographic Data Storage (CHDS) which consists of minimized optical components and small 2-axis actuator moving linear & angle direction. Compensation of radial/tangential disc tilt with 2-axis deck mechanism is demonstrated.

The media transport systems, such as printers, copy machines, facsimiles, ATMs, cameras, etc. have been widely used and being developed rapidly. In the development of those sheet-handling machineries, it is important to predict the static and dynamic behavior of the sheet with a high degree of reliability because the sheets are fed and stacked at such a high speed. Flexible media are very thin, light and flexible, so they behave in geometric nonlinearity with large displacement and large rotation but small strain. In the flexible media analysis, aerodynamic effect from the surrounding air must be included because any small force can make large deformation. In this paper, surrounding air was modeled by incompressible Navier-Stokes flow and an arbitrary Lagranigan-Eulerian(ALE) finite element method with automatic mesh-updating technique was formulated for large domain changes. In the numerical simulations, the results with consideration of the air fast decayed and converged into static results while the results without considering air oscillated continuously.

최근에 노트북 컴퓨터의 가격 하락과 더불어 보급이 급속도로 확산되고 있다. 노트북 컴퓨터 간의 경쟁에서 얼마나 더 얇고 가볍게 만들 수 있는가는 가치 차별화의 근간이 된다. 따라서 노트북 컴퓨터의 박형화에서 HDD 나 ODD 같은 핵심 주변장치의 박형화는 핵심 이슈이다. 본 논문에서는 기존 노트북용 박형 광저장장치의 엑추에이터 개발에 있어서 보다 안정적인 제어가 될 수 있는 구조를 소개하고 엑추에이터의 실제 데이터를 이용하여 서보 제어에 있어서의 설계마진을 고찰해 보고자 한다.

신축 구조물의 설계 단계에서 동적 강도 기준 및 진동 설계 기준을 설정하고 사람의 거동에 따른 기준층 구조의 동적 사용성 및 건물의 용도별 진동 영향성 평가를 동적 시뮬레이션 기법을 토대로 정량적인 방법을 통하여 수행하고 그 결과를 바탕으로 건물 사용성 및 용도에 따른 구조물의 안정성, 근무 요원들의 근무 환경 및 건물 운용의 관점에서 진동 영향성 평가를 수행함과 동시에 필요한 경우 최적의 동적 대책을 수립한다. 또한 건물 내부의 운용설비가 구조물에 미치는 영향을 평가하여 최적의 방진 대책을 제시하여 건물 완료 후 발생할 수 있는 진동 문제를 최소화 하고자 한다.

An experimental method based on contact resonance is developed to extract the contact parameters of mechanical joints under various clamped conditions. Mechanical joint parameters of shear contact stiffness and damping were extracted for different physical joint parameters such as surface finish of the mating surfaces, the presence of lubrication, the effect of the clamping pressure, and shear load. It was found that the shear contact stiffness values decreased with increasing clamping load and increased with increasing shear loading. Contact damping ratio values were almost constant with clamping load, but decreased with increasing shear load. Moreover, rough surfaces exhibited the highest shear stiffness and contact damping compared to smooth surfaces.

This paper discusses the acoustic performance of simple expansion chamber using computational fluid dynamics(CFD). The CFD model consists of an axisymmetric grid with a single period sinusoid of acceptable amplitude and duration imposed at the inlet boundary condition. The time history of the static pressure is recorded at two points, one in the inlet pipe and one point in outlet pipe. The time history of the static pressure is converted to the frequency domain using Fourier Transform and the transmission loss (TL) of the muffler is obtained from the ratio of the static pressure at the inlet and outlet pipe. The transmission loss of CFD result is compared with that of the computational acoustic analysis using the boundary element method (BEM). There are some differences in two results due to the pressure drop according to the inlet and outlet pipe length. Therefore, the effects of the pressure drop to the transmission loss have to be considered.

A linear compressor used in a refrigerator has higher energy efficiency than other compressors. On the other hand, its vibration level has still been much severe. Changing the characteristics of connecting parts may reduce the vibration level of linear compressor. The piston, body and shell are assumed to be rigid. These rigid bodies are connected by coil springs and flexible loop pipe. This paper derived the mathematical model by combining the equation of motion of rigid parts and flexible parts. The variation of vibration level according to the change of connecting parts was investigated.

Predicting the noise radiated from vibrating structures is important in the automotive, aerospace, construction equipment, and defense industries. In this paper, a numerical implementation of the boundary element method in solving the Helmholtz integral equation for radiated noise prediction is presented. To predict the noise emitted by vibrating structure, the developed code can use the results from a structure analysis performed by a multi-purpose structural finite element code like ANSYS and directly measured data by non-contact vibration sensor like Laser Doppler Vibrometer. To verify the accuracy of developed code, two kinds of verification are perfomed. Firstly, the computer code used the harmonic analysis results of ANSYS in simple model and try to match with SYSNOISE. After matching with simulation results, the code compared with the result from SYSNOISE which used the velocity data from the LDV measurement with different number of points. The performance of the developed code for vibro-acoustic noise prediction is presented using the experimental results of the non-contact sensor

A few intake stations have vibration problems caused by pipes. The vibration transffered from pipes excites building severely. Therefore, the crack is generated on building wall and people who work at intake station are damaged. In this paper, the vibration is measured and analysis is carried out for pipes at intake station in order to identify the usefulness and effectiveness of the solution proposed for pipe resonance avoidance. According to the result of analysis, bellows is reduced the vibration of pipes.

In this paper, we propose a linear modeling and identical PD controller design scheme for the three-pole hybrid-type AMB recently developed in the laboratory, which consists of three permanent magnets, providing bias flux, three Hall diodes, measuring rotor displacements, and ring type permanent magnet bearing, stabilizing in axial and tilting directions. Along the three physical coordinates formed by three poles, we introduce the redundant coordinate system and three identical decoupled controllers to construct linear model. The experiments are also carried out in order to verify the effectiveness of proposed controller in stabilizing the transient and steady state response of rotor.

In this paper, we study about the measuring algorithm that can implement Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) more efficiently by two measurement methods using smart sensor. Through the impedance measurement method, the damage condition of structures on wide area is monitored first, and then it changes the mode to guided wave measurement mode by mode switching algorithm when impedance measurement mode detects abnormal signals. Efficient handling of the real-time data would be available by analyzing location and shape of damage through guided wave measurement.

This paper presents the equipment condition monitoring technology for the process or the equipment using statistical techniques. The equipment condition monitoring system consists of an empirical model to estimate the expected sensor values of process variables and a diagnose model to detect the abnormal condition and to identify the root source of the problem. The empirical model is constructed by the analysis of historic data. The diagnose model uses the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) technique. The monitoring system was tested with real operating data acquired from the Reactor Coolant Pump Seal in the Nuclear Power Plant. It can detect the system degradation or failure at the early stage since it is able to catch the subtle deviation of process variables from normal condition.

In order for Hypoid gear development. Gears are required to sustain heavy loads or on applications where the gear box is made or a material with a different coefficient of thermal expansion form that or the gears and shafts, it is desirable to make a deflection and contact check under load. The deflection test is performed in the actual gear mounting using completely processed gear. This test should cover the full operating range of gear loads from no load to peak load. Under peak load the contact pattern should extend to the tooth boundaries without showing a concentration of the contact pattern at any point on the tooth surface.

Tire flat spot is a deformation which occurs around the contact patch during long-period parking and does hardly recovered even after driving. The deformation makes a tire self-excited and ride comfort gets worse. In this study, it is shown that the flat spot can be evaluated by measuring change in radial run out or force. Its effects on vibration at vehicle floor and steering wheel are also revealed. Finally it is shown that the flat spot is likely to occur if the inflation pressure is low and the tire is suppressed by a heavy load at a high temperature.

This paper presents a detecting technique for the improvement in quality by appling the various vibrational characteristics theory. The object of this study is to objectively point out faulty gear by developing the program which can be used to analyze and predict the vibrational characteristics caused by gear wear, deformation and nick of auto-transmission. The fault detection methods by vibrational signal analysis of gear have been progressed in the various fields of industry. These methods have the advantage of being easy to attach the accelerometer without discontinuance of the structure. But not all the methods are efficient for finding early faults. So in the thesis, we completed development of the inspection system of vibration by appling the most efficient detecting methods and verified the system's reliability through experiments.

In modern automobile body manufacturing, the structural adhesive bonding is recognized to one of new joining techniques for the purpose of light weight body and its application scope in the automobile body has been gradually magnified. Specially, the structural adhesives have the advantages of not only enhancing the design flexibility of automobile body, but also improving automobile performances such as stiffness, crashworthiness and durability. In order to evaluate the performance simulation of the automobile body applied with structural adhesives, it is necessary to develop modeling techniques in the structural adhesives in advance. This paper aims to investigate modeling methodology of structural adhesive junctions for body stiffness simulation. Two main modeling points are the element selection for adhesives and the connectivity between adhesives and adherends. Both of the 1D element used in classical modeling and the 3D element which are more accurate are considered for the adhesives, and the congruent and incongruent mesh models of the adherends are compared for connectivity modeling. By applying the several kinds of modeling methodology to the simple structures, the simulation results are compared and some modeling guidelines are obtained.

When a high voltage COS fuse becomes a short circuit by the over current, the impulse noise over 150 dB(A) with the strong pulse jet is radiated from the COS fuse of an electric transformer. For the purpose of the impulse noise reduction, in this study, a reactive type silencer with perforated panels are considered. The transmission loss of the silencer are calculated by transfer matrix method. The effect of the porosity, the distance between panels, and the number of perforated panel on the sound transmission loss is investigated and discussed.

Centrifugal turbo blower is requested highly efficiency and low noise in FCEV, but the noise generated by this machine causes of the most serious problems in the NVH performance. In general, centrifugal turbo blower is dominated by mechanical noise and aerodynamic noise. Mechanical noise is generated by rotation of the bearing, misalignment and unbalance. And aerodynamic noise is generated by the strong intersection between the flow discharged from the impeller and the cut-off in the casing. The first object of this study is to comprehend a noise property of the blower through the noise test. And, second object is to bring up the method that can reduce blower noise.

Consumer's product selection measures are being shifted from the units' operational performance to overall performance. Low noise, low vibration, and low power consumption rate, etc. which used to be additional quality indices, now become vital performance factors. Especially, noise and vibration characteristics are being considered as equivalent to/or even more critical than operational performance in certain products such as office machines and home entertainment systems, which share the same space with human being's daily life. Therefore, noise reduction and sound quality improvement technology becomes an inevitable design issue for those applications. Qualitative noise characteristics of rotating polygonal disk applied to digital printer systems are presented. Overall sound pressure level change and tonal noise variation with respect to the geometrical properties of polygonal disk, operational speed, and others are briefly discussed based on experimental results.

A principal components analysis (PCA) of the median head-related impulse responses (HRIRs) in the CIPIC HRTF database reveals that the individual HRIRs can be adequately reconstructed by a linear combination of 12 orthonormal basis functions. These basis functions can be used generally to model arbitrary HRIRs, which are not included in the process to obtain the basis functions. To clarify whether these basis functions can be used to model other set of arbitrary HRIRs, an numerical error analysis for modeling and a series of subjective listening tests were carried out using the measured and modeled HRIRs. The results showed that the set of individual HRIRs, which were measured in our lab using different measurement conditions, techniques, and source positions, can be well modeled with reasonable accuracy. Furthermore, all subjects reported not only the accurate vertical perception but also the front-back discrimination with the modeled HRIRs based on 12 basis functions. However, as less basis functions were used for HRIR modeling, the modeling accuracy and localization performance deteriorated.

This paper formulates the finite element model is formulated taking into consideration of the effects of the fluid flow in a pipe. The characteristic of vibration is presented using mass, damping and stiffness matrix in the finite element equation of this pipe system. The displacement distribution of pipe system caused by fluid force is discussed. The variation of vibration of a pipe system according the change of mount stiffness is discussed.

Just noticeable differences (jnds) of autocorrelation function (ACF) parameters - Phi (0), Tau 1 and Phi 1 - of household refrigerator noise were investigated by psychoacoustical analyses. Phi (0) of five refrigerators' noise was changed with equal (
${\pm}$ ) interval level of 0.5-1.0 dB up to five intervals by manipulating sound pressure level of the noise. Tau 1 and Phi 1 were varied with equal (${\pm}$ ) interval of around 0.10 ms and 0.02, respectively. Pitch shifting and strengthen methods were applied for the Tau 1 and Phi 1 variations. As results of subjective evaluations, about 2.0 dB was shown as jnd of Phi (0). The values of 0.30 ms and 0.06 were found as jnds of Tau 1 and Phi 1, respectively. The jnd results of each ACF parameter can be applied to explain substantial amount of sound quality (SQ) enhancement in the SQ prediction indices which were proposed in the authors' previous study [Sato et al. (2007) J. Acoust. Soc. Am.]. -
인정바닥구조는 신청에서부터 인정서 발급까지 기본적으로 2개월 이상이 소요되며, 신청 제품이 많을수록 그 기간은 길어지게 된다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 완충재의 성능을 확인하기 위해 소요되는 기간과 비용을 획기적으로 단축할 수 있는 간편한 방법을 제시하기 위한 것이다. 완충재 설치 이후 습식으로 시공되는 경량기포콘크리트와 모르터를 사전에 일정 크기로 제작(축소모형 시험판)한 후 골조가 완성된 현장에서 바닥충격음을 측정하는 방법이다. 완충재 2개 제품에 대하여 축소모형 시험판을 이용하여 측정한 결과와 전체 세대를 시공한 후 측정한 결과를 비교한 결과 경량충격음은 축소모형 시험판이 훨씬 낮은 결과를 나타냈지만 중량충격음은 비슷한 결과를 나타냈다. 이로써 축소모형 시험판을 이용하여 바닥충격음을 측정하는 것은 경량충격음을 저감하기 위한 재료 선정 및 제품 시스템 구성 등에 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 현장에서 중량충격음 차단성능을 신속하게 검증할 수 있는 방법으로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

주상복합형 주거공간에 각 실간 Cross Talking에 의한 소음을 저감시키고 실내기의 공기조화로 발생하는 팬의 소음을 저감 시키기 위하여 소음 환기 장치를 개발 하였다. 공명형과 팽창형의 특성을 적용한 복합적 소음기로 저감주파수 대역에 따른 설계가 가능하며 이 소음기 성능시험 결과 특정 주파수 대역에서 20dB이상의 삽입손실치가 발생하고, 삽입에 의한 압력손실 2mmAq 이하가 됨을 확인하였다. 본 개발품의 특성은 구조가 간단하고 분해조립이 가능하여 설치 및 유지보수가 용이한 제품이다.

Vibration characteristics of concrete slabs were investigated using a 1:10 scale model and finite element method. A 1:10 scale model of a test building with 150 and 200mm slab thicknesses was made of acrylic materials. Modal test was conducted to investigate mode shape and modal frequencies. Results show that the mode shapes of two slabs with different thickness are similar each other, whereas natural frequency is different. Through modal analysis using FEM, it was revealed that both mode shapes and natural frequencies calculated from the FEM model are similar to those of the scale model measurement. It was also found that natural frequencies increased with increment of the slab thickness.

In this study, vibration characteristics of concrete slab were investigated through FEM analysis. Four different floor plans with the floor area of
$100{\sim}130m^2$ were chosen to be analyzed. Boundary conditions of two dimensional finite element models were determined based on the modal test results. Results showed that mode shapes were formed somewhat different according to the floor plan and the contribution of 1st mode on the floor vibration is generally the highest. Through the transient analysis, it was also found that floor plan, expecially connection of the living room with the kitchen, affected the vibration acceleration levels. -
Visco-elastic damping material for reducing heavy-weight floor impact noise and vibration in reinforced concrete structures was tested according to its thickness in the damping layer. The effect of damping material was compared with 20, 15, 10 and 5mm thickness. The wave propagation characteristics was measured for suggestion of an efficient method to reduce the floor impact noise. The method was proposed using the flexural wave propagation characteristics. The result showed that reduction of the thickness of damping layer made a slight difference; the natural frequency moved to higher frequency and the amplitude increased at low frequencies with 5mm thickness of damping material.

This paper investigates the modal acoustic power by a cascade of flat-plate airfoils interacting with homogeneous, isotropic turbulence. Basic formulation for the acoustic power upstream and downstream is based on the analytical theory of Smith and its generalization due to Cheong et al. The acoustic power spectrum has been expressed as the sum of cut-on acoustic modes, whose modal power is the product of three terms: a turbulence series, an upstream or downstream power factor and an upstream or downstream acoustic response function. The effect of these terms in the modal acoustic power has been examined. For isotropic turbulence gust, the turbulent series are only reducing factor of the modal acoustic power. The power factor tends to reduce the modal acoustic power in the upstream direction, although the power factor is liable to increase the modal acoustic power in the downstream direction. The modes close to cut-off are decreasing strongly, especially in the downstream direction. Therefore the modes close to cut-off don't contribute highly to the radiated acoustic power in the downstream direction, although the modal acoustic pressure is high for these modes.

Numerical investigation on radiation characteristics of discrete frequency noise from asymmetry aero-intakes was carried out. The near-field predictions were obtained by solving the linearized Euler equations with computational aeroacoustic techniques consisting of high order finite difference scheme, non-reflecting boundary conditions, oversetgrid techniques. For the prediction of far-field directivity pattern, the Kirchhoff integral method was applied. By comparing the directivities of noise radiating from the scarf and the scoop aero-intakes with that from an axisymmetric aero-intake, it is shown that noise reduction at downward peak radiation angle can be achieved. The scattering of the radiating acoustic wave by background mean flow shifts the peak lobe radiation angle toward ground and increases the amplitude of the acoustic pressure compared with the cases without mean flow effect.

In this paper, characteristics of infrasound and low-frequency noise emission from large modern wind turbines are experimentally investigated. The sound measurement procedures of IEC 61400-11 and ISO 7196 are utilized to field test and evaluation of noise emission from each of 1.5 MW and 660 kW wind turbines using the stall regulation and the pitch control for the power regulation, respectively. It was found that the G-weighted SPLs of low-frequency noise including infrasound shows positive correlation with the wind speeds, irrespective of methods of power regulation. This highlights the potential complaint of local community against the infrasound and low-frequency noise of wind turbines. The comparison of measured data with the existing hearing thresholds and criteria curves shows that it is highly probable that the low-frequency noise from the 1.5 MW and 660 kW wind turbines in the frequency range over 30 Hz leads to the psychological complaint of ordinary adults, and that the infrasound in the frequency range from 5 Hz to 8 Hz causes the complaint by rattling the house fitting such as doors and windows.

Aerodynamic noise generated from wind turbines is predicted by it's classified source mechanisms using computational method. BPF noise according to the blade passing motion, is modelled on monopole and dipole sources. They are predicted by Farassat 1A equation. Airfoil self noise and turbulence ingestion noise are modelled upon quadrupole sources and are predicted by semi-empirical formulas composed on the groundwork of Brooks et al. and Lowson. Retarded time is considered, not only in low frequency noise prediction but also in turbulence ingestion noise and airfoil self noise prediction. Wind turbine noise emission of a 3MW wind turbine and a 600 kW wind turbine, standing for large and middle sized wind turbines, is analyzed.

Impulsive shooting noise is basically complex phenomenon which contains the linear and non-linear characteristics. For those reasons, numerical analysis of impulsive shooting noise has the difficulties in control of the numerical stability and accuracy on the simulation. In this research, Wave-number Extended Finite Volume Scheme (WEFVS) is applied to the numerical analysis of impulsive shooting noise. In the muzzle blast flow simulation, the generation of the precursor wave and the induced vortex ring are observed. Consequently, blast wave. vortex ring interaction and vortex ring. bow shock wave interaction are evaluated on the shooting process using the accurate and stable scheme. The sound generation in the interactions can be explained by the vorticity transport theorem. The shear layer is evolved behind the projectiles due to the jet flow. In these computations, the impulsive shooting noise is generated by the complex interaction with shooting process and is propagated to the far-field boundary. The impulsive shooting noise generation can be observed by the applications of WEFVS and analyzed by the physical phenomena.
