This paper presents a fundamental study to establish a standardization system of the Construction Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support(CALS). States of standardization in the Construction CALS were reviewed to find some defects in developing CALS system in construction industry. It is analyzed that three of major parts were needed to put up a standardization system for the Construction CALS. Firstly, the range of Construction CALS standardization is set up by identifying of Construction CALS and defining the standard and standardization. Secondly, the strategy to enable more effective implementation of Construction CALS standardization and the relationship of the concerned system presented can be used for establishing the Construction CALS standardization system. In addition, the spread and application device is proposed for using Construction CALS standards at public institutions and construction related companies. Conclusively, a classification system of the Construction CALS standards was proposed and some objects to be standardized were presented in the classification system. What were studied in this paper will provide the primary information and guidance to develop a guideline for standardization of the Construction CALS.

There are cases that revoke the certification because of disclosure of private key, deprivation of qualification and the expiration of a term of validity based on PKI. So, a user have to confirm the public key whether valid or invalid in the certification. There are many method such as CRL, Delta-CRL, OCSP for the cert-validation of certification. But these method many problems which are overload traffic on network and the CRL server because of processing for cert-validation of certification. B2C e-commerce is now sufficiently stable. Judging from its success, we can expect B2B to similarly improve business processes for a better return on investment. To achieve B2B e-commerce, many consortia have been trying to develop a B2B framework. As a result, the ebXML is started as an international standard for B2B e- commerce based on XML. The exchange of information between two parties requires each party to know the other party's supported business collaborations, the other party's role in the business collaboration, and the technology details about how the other party sends and receive messages. In some cases, it is necessary for the two parties to reach agreement on some of the details. The ebXML CPP and CPA specification defines how to describe these. In this paper, we'll describe our design and implementation of an ebXML CPP and CPA editor which enables each party to create and edit his profiles and which automatically composites two CPPs. Although it is possible to create and edit CPP and CPA documents with general-purpose XML editor, it is not easy to create and edit CPP and CPA documents with a general-purpose XML editor. Moreover, the detailed procedures for CPA formation from CPPs are currently not provided in the specification. Therefore, we propose two approaches for a CPA formation in addition to easy-to-use user interface.

In electronic commerce, a registry is an integrated software system that supports access to registry metadata in order to locate and retrieve registered objects it can be discovered and used by a client or customer. In general, a registry consists of information model and its service. A registry implementation supports a registry services interface that can be used by abstract agents to assist a human or some other software process to register new objects, provide appropriate metadata for those objects, browse or query registry content, filter out irrelevant references, and retrieve the content of selected items. We show a layered registry architecture that is flexible enough to support the required specialization of many different kinds of registry specification of other sponsoring groups. This architecture could easily adopt different registry specification. This paper suggests a prototype implementation model which supports ebXML Registry standard based on this layered architecture.

The B2B e-Marketplace connected a number of suppliers and buyers offers the opportunity to form more flexible supply chain and requires to transform the business process of purchasing transactions between suppliers and buyers to new environment. So, firms in e-Marketplace will become increasingly aware of need to improve and extend their existing processes. In order to provide the reference model for these firms, we have developed a standardized model of business process for retail industry that incorporates several important features of purchasing process in e-Marketplace. Nowadays, for the competitive power of an enterprise, there are many attempts to implement information system that could support business innovation by business process re-engineering. However, there is no effort to standardize the core business processes of enterprise based on standards of data, documents. These facts make it difficult to introduce and implement enterprise information system designed by business processes of the higher level. Therefore, standardization of business process by analyzing the functionality and relationships among them are important and necessary. The results of our research are summarized as process-driven standardization (standardization of core business processes) and development of a repository. The reference model focuses on core business processes, such as sales management, procurement management, production management, logistics management, and customer support in manufacturing industry. In this paper, we presented function catalogs that Internet content transcoding system for heterogeneous client devices must offer, and, we proposed content transcoding framework architecture that is good in extensibility. As a result of the policy for enforcing the information technology led by government and the effort of companies to get over economic crisis through the reformation of business process, the ERP market is being active. However, because imported ERP products that are supplied currently are designed for standard and rationality, they have a limit to support custom processes of domestic companies in South Korea. On the contrary, ERP products by domestic companies in South Korea are unable to support a consistent methodology of constructing ERP system. This is main reason why much time and costs are consumed than that of an original plan. To succeed in ERP construction, the purpose of ERP setup must be defined. To accomplish this end, it is required to analysis business process completely and to make a plan in detail. For ERP providers, they must support a characterized ERP construction methodology and lower the construction cost by improving an ERP package easy to customize[5].

Under rapidly changing business surrounding, companies need information systems to keep their competitive powers and forecast business surroundings beforehand. In these trends, interests of ASP (Application Service Provider) service is increasing because of the advantage for efficiency to maintain a system and an inexpensive investment to build a system, and this service is rapidly spreading to many parts from simple functions to ERP system. Data dictionary is a collection of metadata about data defined, produced and consumed while performing business processes. Data dictionary is an essential element for business process standardization and automation. Data dictionary also has a fundamental role in ERP application management and customization. Finally, data dictionary helps B2B by gracefully integrating intra-enterprise business processes and inter-enterprise business processes. This paper gives some clues about the importance of data dictionary in ERP and B2B, and introduces data dictionary support of SEA+, a component-based scalable ERP package system.

B2C is not doing well in Asia and Pacific countries in comparison to U.S. and Europe. But there is misunderstanding of low growth of B2C electric commerce caused by cultural factor. Consumers in market are rational to decide their purchase according to total cost - market price and transaction cost. I examined this with data of Korea and U.S. Transaction cost in real market is less in Korea than in U.S. but that of electric commerce, it is much less in U.S. As a result, the choice of consumers in Korea is real market transaction while consumers in U.S. choose electric commerce.

Q+-reader, an E-Book reader system for XML based contents is introduced. The system is developed for the embedded platform, called Q+, which targets for the digital home electronics systems. The system supports XML contents and CSS based styling as described in Open e-Book standard. The system renders the e-book contents for users, so the contents are secured for a proper use. This will found an essential part of business infra for electronic books with copyright protection. The system was developed in Java language to be used in various platforms, and has an open architecture to be reusable for other standards as well.

This paper is to develop metadata format for eBook document standard at Korea. Metadata formats of OEBF, JepaX and AAP were compared and analyzed on the criteria such as purpose, basic elements, characteristics, compatibility, extensibility and convertibility. EBKS metadata format based on Dublin Core was developed in terms of easy to use, resources descriptions and discovery, extensibility and compatibility between other metadata formats such as MARC and Dublin Core. Finally, research and revision direction of the eBook document standard were proposed for the future study.

Despite the social interest in eBook and its advantages, as a result of each industry using different document formats, it is difficult to exchange or share eBook contents. And this hindered the activation of eBook market. The U.S. and Japan have realized the importance of setting a standard for eBook document format and have established eBook standard with government agencies and related industries and in Korea, also, through Working Group for Standardization Committee of EBK, eBook industry standard, EBKS, was established. EBKS provides more advantages than HTML or PDF and the basic format is XML. The objective of EBKS is exact exchange of eBook content, reflection of characteristics of Korean publication environment, simplicity in creating, and convertibility with other standards. Meanwhile, in the DTD aspect, EBKS includes static document structure, extension mechanism, vertical writing, multi-column editing and reflection on the characteristics of Korean and proverbs. For exchanging style, content and style are separated using XSL-FO and XSL-FO is recommended for printing. To deliver new products to market in a due time, companies often develop their products with numerous partners distributed around the world. Internet technologies can provide a cheap and efficient basis of collaborative product development among distributed partners. This paper provides a framework and its product database model that can support consistent product data during collaborative product development. This framework consists of four components for representing consistent product structure: the product configuration, assembly structure, multiple representations and engineering changes. A product database model realizing the framework is designed and implemented as a system that supports collaborative works in the areas of product design and technical publication. The system enables participating designers and technical publishers to complete their tasks with shared and consistent product data. It also manages the propagation of engineering changes among different representations for individual participants. The Web technologies introduced in this system enable participants to easily access and operate shared product data in a standardized and distributed computing environment.

Internet technology opens up another domain for building future CAD/CAM environment. The environment will be global, network-centric, and spatially distributed. In this paper, we present a new approach to network-centric virtual prototyping (NetVP) in a distributed design environment. The presented approach combines the current virtual assembly modeling and analysis technique with distributed computing and communication technology fur supporting virtual prototyping activities over the network. This paper focuses on interoperability, shape representation, and geometric processing for distributed virtual prototyping. STEP standard and CORBA-based interfaces allow the bi-directional communication between the CAD model and virtual prototyping model, which makes it possible to solve the problems of interoperability, heterogeneity of platforms, and data sharing. STEP AP203 and AP214 are utilized as a means of transferring and sharing product models. In addition, Attributed Abstracted B-rep (AAB) is introduced as 3D shape abstraction for transparent and efficient transmission of 3D models and for the maintenance of naming consistency between CAD models and virtual prototyping models over the network.

A cyber shopping mall is a place where consumers acquire product information, and make purchase decisions in the cyber space. Even though it offers many advantages over traditional malls, there are still several limitations to do shopping in an existing cyber mall. One of these limitations is the absence of an efficient shopping aid to compare multiple items from multiple malls. Existing search systems usually support a keyword search with limited conditions. Consumers spend lots of their time to compare multiple alternatives from search results. In this paper, we propose an intelligent product search system. There are two main features in our system. The first one is a full support of comparison shopping with multiple perspectives based on commercial search engines. The second one is an enhancement to the shopping aid based on a new concept of Shopping AssistanT. Our system is implemented in Visual Basic and PERL, and experimental results show a satisfactory performance.

The Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL) is a declarative markup language based on the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) to define a set of markup tags for synchronizing the timing and positioning relationships between multimedia objects. SMIL makes authoring of TV-like multimedia presentations on the Web easier for applications such as electronic commerce. We present the design and implementation of a JAVA-based SMIL player, which processes different types of media objects using multiple threads. Moreover, its cache engine detects the media type and allocates the proper cache memory for the corresponding media object.
